Taking Requests [FREE!]
Posted 12 years agoLike my work? Want some of it for your very own?
Now's your chance to get an original piece of fiction absolutely FREE!
I hit a slump recently with my writing and want to get back into the swing of things, so I decided to open up the floor and allow my watchers the chance to get a free story from me. This isn't something that I plan on doing ever again, so now's your chance.
The Rules:
Be a watcher!
Comment here with your writing prompt. Specify a genre. Include any relevant references.
Let me know what rating you want [PG - XXX].
Things to keep in mind:
Just because you post it doesn't mean I'm going to write it. If I don't choose to write about your prompt please don't be offended, it's probably nothing personal.
These aren't commissions, just requests, and will be worked on between my other projects or as warm-ups for the day. I have no idea what the turn-around time will be, please don't ask.
You can be as specific as you want, but I might take only part of your request into consideration or be otherwise inspired to spin off from it.
This can be an original piece or fan fiction (provided I'm familiar with the setting). You can even ask to be put into the Relative Sanity universe or paired with my characters for this.
I'm only taking one-shot requests, if you want anything longer consider commissioning me.
Feel free to submit more than one idea!

Back in action
Posted 13 years agoI can't recall the last time that I was actually active on this website, but I finally logged in the other day for the first time in months. Something like 23,000 submissions were waiting for me. That shit was crazy.
Regardless, I had a few notes from people asking when / if I was going to post another Relative Sanity chapter. I am pleased to announce that I have started working on this piece again. It's going a little slowly and I do need to rewrite a few of the other chapters and figure out where I want things to go before I upload anything. Still, be on the lookout.

Commissions
Posted 14 years agoTerms of Service
Henceforth, "you" refers to the commissioner, and "I" refers to Fayin, the writer.
I will write many different genres, lengths, and types of stories. I ask that when you commission me you specify what you're looking for and what kind of rating it will have.
Payment
-I only accept PayPal.
-Do not send the money as a gift.
-Do not provide additional information in the Paypal note; please provide any and all information to me via note on FA or email.
-Any payment under $50 (USD) will be expected before I begin the commission. A payment of $50 or more can be split into two halves if you so choose, one half when I accept and the other upon completion. I will only send you the piece once I have been paid in full.
Updates
-I will keep in contact with you during the working session and let you know if I come across any unexpected difficulties.
-Do not constantly ask for updates. This will put pressure on me and the creative process will be slowed.
-I will send you each chapter as it is finished; if the work is a one-shot I will send the whole thing when it is completed.
-I can send files as .odts, .rtfs, or .pdfs. Please specify which you would prefer.
Errors
On Re-writes:
-If there are any glaring errors (typos, spelled a character's name wrong, etc) please let me know so that it can be fixed.
-If the errors were made because you, the commissioner, failed to supply the right information there will be a rewrite fee. The fee varies depending on the complexity of the re-write. For example, you ask for an erotic piece. You don't tell me that your character is a shy, bashful virgin. I send you the piece and you are unhappy with it because the character's personality is wrong. That's your fault, meaning you pay for a re-write.
-Do not expect me to know anything about your character. I only know what you tell me; I do not do additional research on your character. This is why I have a handy form to fill out when you commission me.
Dos and Don'ts
Do:
-Feel free to post this in your gallery (FA only) with a link back to mine.
-Print it for your own use.
Don't:
-Post it to any website that is not FA.

-Private commissions are available if you feel the world is not ready for your brain child.
-If you'd like to use someone else's character in the work get permission from them first.

Writing
Posted 14 years agoI'd like to start by saying that I have returned from vacation. Fun times were had by all, at least up until this morning when I was forcibly knocked unconscious and robbed.
By that I mean I had my teeth pulled. Yes, my last two wisdom teeth were finally extracted from my mouth. I feel like a free woman. Or at least I will when I no longer need to pop Vicodin every four hours.
But I digress.
I've come to the conclusion that I have simply too many things to write about and not enough time in which to do it. Story ideas are constantly floating around in my head, and half-formed characters speak to me in my dreams. Not really - that would be cool, though. The point is that once I show a project to someone I never finish it. Relative Sanity, for example; as soon as people started reading it and a publisher wanted to publish it, I got all "Nurr, bored," and quit writing. Unfortunate, because I rather enjoyed the story. If I were to go back to continue, I'd change things. Maybe not a lot, but enough to once again make it refreshing for me to work on.
In any case, I find myself being drawn to other ideas, other stories, other locations. I've been chipping away at a bondage story for The_Grey_One that I started a good year ago. I have vague thoughts of a shark-girl. I'd love to tell the tale of the human girl and the werewolf, or of the town that sacrifices virgins regularly to escape the ire of a dragon. I have a medical horror / thriller in the works, and another piece that deals with a variant form of incarceration (I have a thing for prisons, I guess).
And what of Zel? My first ever RP character, Zel was - is? - the woman that I wanted so very badly to be. Her tale, indeed the tale of the tavern, is alluring and dark, exciting and driven, filled with betrayal, regret, love, and angst. A fantasy soap opera. If I were even to begin to describe these characters or the story I could write for a year and still not tell it all.
I suppose my point is that I have no idea where to begin. In not knowing, I never do. My work and thoughts sit idly by while I ponder how to start, wasting precious time and wondering if I'll ever finish a single project.
I don't know how to proceed.
Also, mangos are delicious.

Commissions that I want
Posted 15 years agoSo I decided to do a little bit of work and put down on paper all the money I've paid, commissions I've gotten, and who the artist was. I found that I'm missing two pieces of work, one that was paid and one that wasn't. I suppose I don't /need/ the one that wasn't paid (she hasn't talked to me about it in a few months so I guess she forgot), but I did pay for the other piece back in April and haven't gotten anything yet. My query to the artist yielded no response. =/
Anyway, THIS IS STUFF I WANT:
1. Then there's one that I can't mention because I think the guy it's for might be reading this and it's a surprise. Includes a background and specific clothing.
Edit: DONE
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/4544468/
2. There's a piece I'd also like that involves the same person, different character. Scene from an RP, but there's a human involved and I don't know of anyone that's into drawing those. Nothing sexual.
3. "Waterbending" is the companion piece to "Firebending." Fayin was drawn as a firebender, so I'd love to have Geniva drawn as a waterbender. Have an artist in mind already.
Edit: DONE
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/4461924/
4. "Earthbending." Kunwio as an earthbender, because I have a hardon for Avatar. Artist is currently closed for commissions.
5. "Threesome Series" will be more with the bunny, dragon, and bear pictured in my "Threeway" submission. I'm working with the original artist of that picture to get it drawn. Looking for lineart, since the artist seems to be okay with allowing me to have someone else color it. He colors great, I'm just trying to expand my horizons.
6. BALL PIT! Featuring Kunwio and Fayin, preferably drawn by Nauro. I've already contacted her about it so I'll see what's up later. =)
Edit: DONE!
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/5733808
7. Punk-rock Fayin. I really want to see her with a mohawk (probably red?) with a tongue piercing strumming a bass, with some ripped jeans and an actual shirt I own. Because I am badass.
Edit: DONE!
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/5816678/
ART I'M WAITING ON
1. Punk-Rock Fayin by Alishka. Paid, part of iron artist challenge.
2. Pin-up or "on the prowl" by Pirate-cashoo. Paid.
People I want commissions from:
Dalamin
Kathy-Lu
Anja
Coffinberry (something involving wings because I love her wings)
Yashendwirh
Mrawl (Probably lineart)

Notes on Moshing
Posted 15 years agoSo I went to see Megadeth and Slayer last night. Testament was there too, but I showed up late because I'm pro like that [also I was busy purchasing a motorcycle]. The venue was pretty sweet; I'd never been to the amphitheater before so it was a real treat. Plus I got to take the RTA to get there, which I never normally do, and that was fun in and of itself. It beat trying to get parking downtown, haha.
Anyway. This concert. AWESOME. Megadeth was on before Slayer, and they're really the band I went to see. I stood kind of in the back and didn't get as into it as I normall do, but it's been a while since I've listened to their music. Wasn't a bad show. I've never seen them live before but they're awesome and I'm glad I went.
So. Slayer. HOLY SHIT, SLAYER. I've never been a huge fan of Slayer. That's the kind of music I listen to only when I'm extremely stoned. But, man, they were good. After Megadeth went off stage I dragged my friend to the front of the crowd, think I was four people-rows back (no seating, remember). People were pressing in all around me. I was a little left of the stage, and before it started some guy was like, "You gonna mosh?!" I said no, I'm not that hardcore, but when the music started I couldn't help but get into it.
People were pushing and shoving and elbowing and crowd surfing and it was crazy. I was right in the middle of all of it. It was hot and sweaty and stank of beer and cigarettes, and the guy next to me passed me a joint so of course I had to hit it. The music was so loud I couldn't hear myself think, not that I wanted to. I got swept away in it. At first I was really defensive about all the shoving and tried to stand my ground, but after a while I was like "fuck it" and started getting really into it. I threw elbows and squeezed between people and shoved back when the tide came my way. Everyone was sweating; my shirt was soaked by the time I left, covered in other people's sweat, my sweat, and probably some beer. Some guys didn't have shirts on; brushing against them was almost like being submerged in water. And everyone was so close! My tits were smashed against the guy in front of me the whole time, and I had another guy pressed against my back. Not that it was always the same person; I started out to the left and four rows back, ended up in the middle seven rows back.
I was surprised at how cool the people were. When someone fell they'd pull 'em back up, held onto the people that might be going down, gave others a boost up when they wanted to crowd surf, threw their arms around someone else and screamed in their faces... It was intense. It was awesome. Everyone was friends. Everything was cool.
I did pick up a couple tips for next time:
Double-knot your laces.
Wear something with steel toes (I only say this because so many people stepped on my feet and I cut open my toe earlier this week =/)
Don't wear flip flops. Some crazy guy wore flip flops in the middle of the pit. I looked down to see his feet all bruised and everything. Ew.
Being on the edge of the mosh pit sucks. I was there a few times. On the one side you've got people going crazy, on the other you've got people standing still, or just head banging. If you get shoved none of them are going to catch you. You either want to be RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF ALL THE MAYHEM! or nowhere near it.
I'm never not buying General Admission tickets again. That shit is crazy; everyone's gotta try it at least once.

A Debate on Anger
Posted 15 years agoAny woman that expresses anger is a bitch.
I don't agree with the above statement, but unfortunately many people do. For whatever reason, women aren't supposed to show that they're angry. We can cry, giggle, smile, be stupid, but if we raise our voice or flip someone the bird we're automatically labeled as a bitch, no questions asked. It's similar to the double-standard of men and crying; they're just as emotional as us, but they have to hide it to avoid being labeled as a "pussy." Society has given us these boxes and we just go right along with it.
I HATE this. I hate that random people - people I don't know in the first place and will never see again - feel the need to call me a bitch because (OH NO!) I'm in a bad mood. How dare I vent my frustrations that the servers at work are sometimes complete morons? How dare I be annoyed with someone for not doing what they're supposed to do?
I don't want to get into details. It's not important. I was frustrated by incidents at work today, but I was called a bitch because of it. Because I was annoyed. Because I vented to the two kids standing in the back with me. Because I told a waiter that if he was just going to stand around he better get out of the kitchen and out of my way. I didn't say it quite so rudely, for the record, but I'm rather annoyed when the servers stand in front of the heat lamps with their hands in their pockets waiting for me to finish making whatever they need. I'm pretty good about calling them back when it's done; idle hands only server to piss me off.
Anyway, I texted my friend Kunwio about the incident, and we had a discussion on anger. In the past, Kunwio and I dated. He told me that I had an anger problem, and later told me that I had a disorder. I find it extremely difficult to believe that I'm more angry than other women. I'm simply more expressive. I've lived with my dad for twenty years, a man that doesn't believe in hiding it when he's angry. He doesn't bottle it up, and I picked this up from him. I don't think it's healthy to bottle rage; I'd rather get it off my chest and move on.
He said he didn't know where I was getting the idea of a double standard, and I told him that it's from everyone, even from him. He pointed out that he didn't call me a bitch every time I got mad, "only when it's unreasonable and pointless."
Hold up a second. Unreasonable and pointless? Why is it pointless? Who are you to tell me that my anger is unreasonable, or my reason for being angry is pointless? I wasn't aware that people still believed in structuralism. You not agreeing with me doesn't trivialize my anger, nor does it make the source any less real to me. Can I flip out over stupid shit and later realize it wasn't worth it? Yes, but so does everyone, and at the time it seems like a big deal.
I'm not mad at Kunwio for expressing his opinion. I just hate the "you're a bitch" double standards that pop up. Let guys cry. Let girls get angry. So what?

Emo people make me want to cut myself.
Posted 15 years agoSeriously. So many emo people on this website - and all over the rest of the Internet - complaining about everything. Quit bitching.
I have arrived! And returned.
Posted 16 years agoSo. Journals. I'm new to this idea. Let's test it out. Wheee.
I just got home from Florida where I was visiting a friend and looking for an apartment. Moving there in January, thought it'd be a good idea to get a head start on things. I think I found a good place.
Anyway. About my friend. So. Kure. I've known him for six and a half years over the Internet. We finally met. It was very, very exciting. And nerve wracking. I'm not sure I had anything to eat in the week before I met him. Every time I sat down for dinner my stomach hurt and I couldn't think straight. And then we met. And it was like Romeo and Juliet. Minus the suicide. And the romance. And the warring families and crazy parties and weird friends.
Granted, I did almost die. But that's another story, albeit not a very good one.
Speaking of Florida. They have Bear Crossing signs on the road. How crazy is that? I was amused.
Anyway, meeting Kure was awesome. I had a blast, he had a blast, and I was pretty sad to go home. QQ and such.
;D
