Hello everyone!
Thanks to everyone who supported the 2021 release <3

Making music has been one of the most rewarding things in my life. The body of work I've built since 2013, as rough & broken as it was even upon release, continues to be something that I'm insanely proud of. This is partially because "I did the work", but MOSTLY because I managed to make all that music while dealing with abandonment, mental illness, gender identity issues, housing insecurity, & poverty.

Things are really changing though. Thanks to newfound stability I'm starting a new chapter in my life.

There's no easy way to recap the last 5-7 years, but to sum it up in a briefly, my life turned upside down around the time I decided to pursue my gender transition. I was kicked out of my parent's home, tasked with supporting myself, getting through college, & transitioning in a dangerous world. Housing insecurity was a reality of much of my 20s. I was kicked out homes & fled bad living arrangements. I lost my trailer in 2021 due to COVID & a complicated situation I didn't manage well.

To top it off, I've been doing a lot of work trying to move past my deeply unfortunate childhood. I'm an abuse survivor who grew up isolated & alone in the countryside with nearly no outlets beyond immersing myself in video games & music. I've also come to learn that I live with ADHD, & a lot of struggling has come from my inability to manage my disability.

Others have had it worse than me, clearly, but I've dealt with some super unfortunate shit. I'm proud that I've survived this.

☐☐☐The Good News☐☐☐

Things really turned around in the last year. My loving partner in 2021 brought me into her home, & giving me an opportunity to heal. I now have a job that (mostly) pays the bills! I'm 29 now, & turning 30 this year in July. I'm working full time in Information Technology, & finally making some money. I'm dating someone who has helped me through this really hard journey. My goal is to not let my unfortunate past define where I take my future.

I've been getting into competitive Smash Bros (Melee, PM, a tiny bit of Ultimate). It has felt like a neglected passion, & has really unlocked a lot of new opportunities for me. I'm considering leaving IT for CompSci/WebDev, but that transition will take time. Gender stuff went really well; I turned out cute, & transitioning earlier in life did help a lot.

☐☐☐Reflecting on the Past/Present/Future of Fayyet☐☐☐

I'm partially writing this because, yesterday, I was getting stuff out of storage & I found my Midi Keyboard. I cried, realizing how much I miss practicing & writing music. 2021 was dramatic for my production skills. I was hired a tutor, working to really drill down the fundamentals & grow my sound. I think my 2021 release [ON+GT] showcased new technical heights, even if I've creatively been a bit stagnant over the past few years. I'll admit that I'm not super interested in pushing envelopes or redefining trance or whatever; I just really love the vibes, the sounds, the feels of trance & I find it to be a deeply expressive medium despite the artistic constraints of making DJ-friendly music.

I had this toxic cycle I used to create for myself

• post some music
• boldly proclaimed that THIS TIME was when things would change
• promising to develop my sound & level up my production skills.

I can say with confidence that, in 2022, I can't really do that right now. I've been tinkering in Ableton, writing lo-fi experiments & just having fun. I look forward to returning to grinding music more often, but at this time I don't even have a room to set my monitors & gear in. I'm looking to get back into it, at some point. Despite having picked another artist name to potentially move too, I do have plans to continue "Fayyet" for a little while longer, I have a few musical concepts I'd like to tackle.

I seriously regret not using FA to make more friends in the past, everyone I've met here has been legit, ngl. I hope to at least hang out on more; this place was always good to me & I genuinely enjoy hearing & seeing what people create. Life has it's ups and downs!

YO, like, I've been good. Transitioning to female is a long journey, but I've come a long ways so far! I'll have been in a university for like, 8+ years now, still with no degree (LOL). I'm 26 and living the life of a 20-year old. Part-time work (I do iOS/MacOS support for Apple), tons of free time, low rent. I dunno, it's pretty nice and shit.

Recently went to Iitty Bitty FurCon in Arizona, and now that weird furry-obsession spark thing just ignited in my brain again.

I'm doing a journal called "Review the Track(s) Above You", and it's a journal where the focus is to review tracks to provide feedback.

The format is pretty simple: write a review for tracks above you, then proceed to post your own. Somebody else reviews your song, and they post a track, and so on.

It's an idea, at least. If anybody's interested at throwing a few songs out there in the beginning, please let me know!

You don't have to post stuff, but I do need people reviewing tracks! The point is make a space were musicians can get ideas on how to tackle issues and make better songs.

Hey guys, here's an itemized list of what I've been up to!

-Currently working, back in school to finish my IT degree

-TRYING to do more music stuff. I now only make announcements when my work is 80% finished

-I'm transgender! It's been an issue I've been struggling with for a long time, but I've decided to go ahead and change my gender. It's honestly a hugely innocuous topic.
This is relevant to you guys because, when I came out to myself in Summer 2015, my life pretty much morphed into total fucking chaos. Music came to a halt, I lost my job due to being laid off, I lost my drive and sense of purpose, my self esteem crashed and burned, I was at the edge of suicide. It sucked.

-BUT THINGS ARE LOOKING UP. MY LIFE IS SOOO MUCH BETTER, I'VE MOVED TO A NEW HOME, I'M STARTING HRT, I'VE DONE TONS OF THERAPY, I'VE COME TO ACCEPT MYSELF FOR WHO AND WHAT I AM DESPITE HOW SOCIETY/PEOPLE FEEL ABOUT ME. I've come a long way, and I'm much happier person now. I have a long way to go, though, but I've never been in a better place in my life.

I am pretty much out of the music thing for now.

The summer was pretty much rough for me, I had some serious life-changing issues come out of nowhere (long story), and I unfairly lost my job. That, and the failed attempted to clone my computer which resulted in my computer's directories becoming an absolute mess that took hundreds of hours to fix (thanks for fixing that, Windows 10), I decided to stop writing music. I think I pretty much lost all of my inspiration and drive to continue with this project after my miserable time over the summer. In hindsight maybe I should have written some music, it would have helped me cope, maybe? Ugh I don't know.

BUT HEY, ever problem is a new opportunity, right? Given that life seemed pointless and aimless, I decided to go back to school and study Japanese, for some reason (long story) (日本語のクラスはとてもおずかしいですよ！）, and I found a new job! I even dabble in Ableton from time to time when work/school isn't kicking my ass! I've made some new friends and am doing what I can to better myself as a person!

I know nobody really cares, but sorry for all the false promises and EP/LP talk and new track promisese and blah. I know it don't matter but I was always teasing more without much to show for it, so sorry.

Thanks to everyone who has been there, and thanks for your support. I really appreciate how great everyone has been to me, and how much positive reception I've made over the years. It came to me at a point in life where I really needed it, so thanks.

Soooo, the lovably awesome  Gzyanix is looking looking for some DJ's for his club in Second Life. He's looking for 1.5-3 hour sets, usually on Friday or Saturday night.
Gzyanix (or Gravity) is a really nice guy, he actually spent like, 6 hours helping me get my audio/avatar setup working (and he STILL WONT LET ME THROW HIM A FEW $$ IRL FOR THE EFFORT), so if Second Life is a new-ish thing to you, like it is to me, don't worry!

This is a super fun opportunity to DJ more, to flex your mixing skills, and meet fun people. The crowd is always super nice to hang with.
