Posted 10 years ago~ ~ ~ What I'm up 2 theeeeesssseee days / Update
Posted 10 years agoSO LIKE, the 'production of music' thing is slowwww, and that's mostly my fault. But I'm still working on new stuff all the time! I want to try shooting for maybe an EP release or something, but if nothing pans out, then whatever.
~ I'm thinking about doing something along the lines of Patreon but tbh I don't produce enough content for people to really throw money at me.f
~ I've been doing a shitload of DJing stuff lately, with some IRL gigs and whatnot, so I'm definitely going to continue doing that. I plan to start doing SL DJing, because it would be a fun and easy way to spin and have an audience. Just need to get my character's model made and such.
~ Definitely plan on updating that dormant FMD page. Specifically, stuff concerning DJing and stuff. I've been learning a lot of really cool things that I'm eager to show!
I THINK to be honest, that maybe expectations (my own, specifically) around the page where in the wrong place. Right now, it's less about the artistry of song-writing, and more about the technical details of the process.
Nobody can teach you how to make your own art.
That's your job, as an artist.

~ ~ ~ So, I have no clue about Second Life
Posted 10 years agoI have no fuggin clue how the game works. I have some pre-existing characters that friends helped me build, but it's nothing like my Fayyette avatar
I really wanna start DJing in SL, because it's an easy avenue for practice.
Does anybody have any suggestions on people that build customer characters?
What about FAQ stuff in general. I know the power of Google won't let me down, but I suspect that there are so handy tutorials out there.

Posted 10 years agoTBH it's really easy to be just hold a cynical attitude towards furry-related ANYTHING.
BUT, here's are a few things I like:
Fritz the Cat (1972):
Fritz is a terrible cat. Movie is pretty bleak and social-commentary-y. Hey, a little substance never hurt anybody. Hope you don't mind all the sex/drugs/violence. It may seem shocking and vapid, but if you're kinda open to weirdness, there's a lot of cool stuff here.
Dinosaurs:
I find this to be strangely cute and endearing. Far from perfect, but it's really charming and it's story and characters are shockingly grounded, despite being really simple and cartoony. Plus the visual FX / dinosaur animations are surprisingly expressive. Given that I have a weird aversion to fursuits, mainly because they lack the ability to express emotion, so I find the moving features on the characters to be quite appealing.

~ ~ ~ on the whole "EDM BUBBLE" thing
Posted 10 years agoIt's no secret that the EDM scene is getting fucking HUGEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
As in, it's pretty mainstream now
WHICH IS GREAT, that means that MORE people are listening to electronic music, more people are contributing, and there's more exciting things bound to happen.
BUT, like most popular movements, it's probably going to stop growing, and start receding, much like hip-hop did in the late 90's/early 00's, much like rock/grunge did in the early/mid 90's, much like hair metal/disco/synth-pop did, etc. etc.
Granted, I'd vouch to say that dance music in general has had so much influence/touched people's lives that it'll probably do what hip-hop did: not vanish, but just kind of stepped backed from the spotlight it dominated for a healthy number of years.
Hip-hop is still alive, and it's super healthy, though it's mainstream dominance is both a moment in history AND still felt today. I think Avicii/Calvin-Harris-type tunes have a long life ahead of them. Dance music philosophy has been reshaping music since, what, 2009? Remember Lady Gaga? All that stuff was electronic music (nobody called it that because they weren't paying attention :P)
EDM has been HUGELY important, but the scene has already started to see it's own receding/expanding. Dubstep/brostep/glitchy-bass-type bangers have gone from being mainstream to niche (not a bad thing), and now big-room/house-type styles are the dominant sounds at the moment.
Things change and new forms and style emerge from the old. It'll be interesting how far EDM as a scene will go before the ticket sales start to dip/radio play recedes/something else gets big and dance music stops dominating everything. It's bound to happen, it's just a question of when.
If things keep going the way they are now, it might be a long while before WHEN happens.
Just my thoughts, what do you guys think?

~ ~ ~ Think Feminism is dumb? It's not
Posted 10 years agoHEYYO.
So after being a stupid asshole to one of my dear friends and getting in a Skype chat argument with another, I've decided that I'm just going to come out clean and say the following:
1) I believe in feminism and it's wrong to not speak out
2) I like Anita and the feminist frequency stuff (she ain't perfect but her point is just. Kinda like, ya know, Founding Fathers/Martin Luther King Jr./people like that. [1]
3) I have been dealt an easy hand in life. It's not my fault and I'm not ashamed. My life isn't perfect, but my color and gender has definitely enable some perks in my life.
4) I'm not really a social justice warrior in the sense that I'm going to preach and preach. at this point in my life, beyond just saying this, There's not a whole lot I can contribute
Don't preach; do. I live what I think. That's all I can really do.
[1] BTW if you think I'm making unfair comparisons, those figures had plenty of propaganda spread around them that wasn't true. History won those battles, though

~ ~ ~ life update // how'd you meet your significant other?
Posted 11 years agolife update and such
Been makin' music (obviously). I might have some material ready for an EP soon! Who knows!
My piano skills have improved a lot, to.
Saw the new Hobbit movie. I enjoyed it. Even if it has a trillion weird problems with it.
I recently bought a car! YAY! It's a necessity when living in a city as spread out as Phoenix.
SO, with this new method of transportation, I'm trying to get out of the house and meet people.
Strangely, I keep making friends with high-school kids (meet a group of dudes at a furry con playing Smash Bros, it was fun).
Ah well.
I've been single for over a year and, for the hell of it, I've put my name out on Tinder and such over the past few weeks.
I didn't expect much, and so far, nothing really has happened. OH WELL. You can't rush relationships. Those take time and energy. Dating sites help but at the same time, you're odds of finding someone are kinda low. It's just a matter of time. All good things come with time and patience, and effort.
BUT IT GOT ME THINKING about all the folks who I watch, and watch me.
How did you meet your current partner? (I'm just curious, is all. I love hearing other people's stories!)
Merry Christmas to everyone!

Posted 11 years agohttp://millennialmarketing.com/2010.....ly-tech-savvy/
Even if this doesn't apply to you, our generation (born 1980-2000s) is basically tech-dependent. This can bring many great things, but there are cost to everything, and as this article details, we become to depend on technology in ways it cannot satisfy us.
Give this a read! It doesn't apply to everyone, but that doesn't mean you can't learn a thing or two about the world we are all currently living in.

~ ~ ~ November is Music Month
Posted 11 years agoUpdate
So for November, I'm basically going to TRY writing a song every day.
I will not sit on a song any longer than 3-ish days. If it's not 'done' done, oh well.
I have been to hypercritical of myself and my music, and it's caused me to just fear everything I do and make. Spamming out music as much as I can is a crazy change of pace and I am actually excited that I'm going to be doing it! No more second-guessing everything; I won't have time to keep up with my deadline!
Most of what'll be made is going straight to the scraps, but that's okay!
Hope you guys enjoy what's ahead!
Original Post
Gunna get my shit together
Gunna do some DJ mixes (trance, house), release a few songs
I also have a label deal going with a furry start-up label called Zerda
It's a start up, yea, but I think it's promising, there are a lot of really talented furs getting in on it
STAY TUNED

~ ~ ~ Looking for someone to practice German with!!
Posted 11 years agoHallo!
I am currently starting to study German, so if any of you guys wouldn't mind me bugging you about language questions, leave a comment and I'll message you with Skype info and crap.
I wanna learn German so that way I can go to school in Germany. I don't feel like taking on $40,000 in student loan debut; for that kind of money I can live on my own and attend school in a foreign country!

~ ~ ~ Why I don't use Weasyl
Posted 11 years ago(Will post another journal saying hi to all the new faces soon, I had to get this out of my system)
Where do I begin? That Weasyl doesn't have a dedicated music section? That the interface is feels bloated at times? That it's pretty much a flashy carbon copy of FA?
Naw, not going there.
Weasyl's most fatal flaw is that it displays music submissions (on user profiles) the same way it post art/story submissions.
As thumbnails. fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu
What this means:
So the listener has to make a guess as to which song to press (thumbnail can't provide statistics/like/comments, unlike on Soundcloud/Youtube/Mixcloud/etc.).
This is an inconvenience. I, in praticular, don't mind that. I’m mostly alone in this opinion. Our society views inconvenience as this horrid tragedy that can nearly ruin an entire experience, God forbid. (-_-) "I HAD TO WAIT AN EXTRA FIVE MINUTES FOR MY BIG MAC???!?! WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS SHIT YOU PIMPLY-FACED KID?! WHERE'S THE MANAGER??"
Yes, I'm exaggerating. But this is how the world works, people. If it takes noticeably MORE effort to listen to a track than it would on SC/Youtube/Mixcloud/etc., then you're going to get way less traffic. Nobody wants to invest the effort to give your 3+ minute track a listen. For some bored person looking to be entertained, there are too many risk involved compared to the instant gratification users normally receive when browsing art submissions. The systems in place for FA and Weasyl are meant to serve visual artist. This means that the same hosting mentality is applied towards how these sites handle music submissions, which does not accommodate for music in the right ways [1]. You could even argue that the web design contributes to the furry fandom's perceived apathy towards music. [2]
QUICK ASIDE: you can gain recognition on FA/Weasyl. Plenty have done a really good job at it, I’m kinda doing it. It’s not impossible. It’s just made more difficult thanks to the website’s architecture.
But there are a few things that Weasyl could do to help EVERYONE (forget FA, I gave up on hope when they did back in 2010). Personally, I think the fixes are rather straightforward from a conceptual standpoint (programming/testing is a whole other story).
Possibilities are ENDLESS: you could divide music and art submissions into separate categories, and embed a music player on-screen so all you would have to do is click on a user page, scroll down to music subs, and press play. Or have submissions automatically play when clicking on them!
The reason I’m even tooting my horn is for this simple reason: no other platform on the net offers such seamless integration for art promotion/social networking as FA does. You have the ability to subscribe to artistic post, but you can easily send private messages an comment on Facebook-style journal post with incredible ease. The comments sections are easy to follow and use, the HTML works just find, and a lot of that toxic Web 2.0 personalized algorithm bullshit hasn't been implemented to confine your taste and new feeds into sheltered little bubbles of ignorance. [3]
I’ll be honest; I’m not a web designer. I’m just an IT man with a weird fetish that makes noises with my computer. What I think I want, and what’s possible, could easily be skewed. But on the flip side, I’d like to think that I can recognize a problem when I see it. These sites are hubs for the fandom; they give us a place to be ourselves. Thanks to design oversights, our voices as musicians are more likely to be ignored, regardless of personal subjectivity a listener might have [4].
This probably won’t change, and it’s unfortunate. Everyone would benefit from it.
Please feel free to scream and curse at me if you disagree. Sorry for typos, will update when needed.
[1] I’ll admit: FA/Weasyl do a few things INCREDIBLY RIGHT: unlimited hosting, uploading is SUPER HASSLE FREE, and the web players work about 99% of the time. And if you’re not a musician, these places are reskinned Deviant Art clones with more social networking features.
[2] I do believe that there is a general disinterest in music produced within this fandom. However, the issue in itself is very unique and complex; topic for another day.
[3] The way the web filters information that it only thinks you want to see is a serious problem, and it could have far reaching implications for the future in terms of the openness of the web, social influence, etc. Our fandom is small enough as it is; we don't more issues like this. Topic for another day
[4] One could argue that furry-made music rarely deals with furry fandom itself, which leads to a perceived disinterest from most people in the fandom. Whether or not this is true, the furry fandom is drastically different from many other fandoms for TONS and TONS of reasons, so I don’t think this factor has far-reaching consequences, if it really exist at all. Topic for another time.

Whether or not this is true, the furry fandom is drastically different from many other fandoms for TONS and TONS of reasons, so I don’t think this factor has far-reaching consequences, if it really exist at all. Topic for another time.

FurryMusiciansDirectory is about 70% up, it's still in it's early dev stages but I think a majority of the posted content here is useful!I've also been getting the mixing/mastering work done for my project, it should be wrapping up shortly!

Posted 11 years agoI got a lot to say and you probably don't care. That's what list are for!
1) Has new job; it's amazing (IT Manager). I get paid to fix computer and tell secretary how to install Adobe Flash.
2) Working on that fucking goddamn stupdisass EP. Made a few songs, most suck, so EP will feature backlog.
3) Studying Japanese/日本語! Because I can and it's a fun/hard language!
4) Still going to finish musician's page. Have had MAJOR revelations about my feelings with music (will explain later)
5) Brony fandom sucks on a few really deep and subversive levels thanks to the complete misappropriation of the show's themes. No offense to IRL bronies like myself (will explain later).
6) Improving my DJing skills; will put out new mixes more often because why not?
7) Turned 22! Somebody called me old the other day, and I though, "YAY! I'd rather viewed as old than young. Young people are fucking stupid."
Thank you for reading!
どうも ありがとう ございます!
ProTip: native Japanese doesn't have spacing between the words! Which makes me feel even more n00bish!
ProTip: people will scold you for using n00b because it's an 'old' term. to hell with those people

Posted 11 years agoI may start becoming more active here on FA again towards the end of July.
I've been working on some stuff, I haven't made nearly as much progress on my projects as I'd like, but that's what working is for!
Also, I'm going to be getting the FA Music group thing up to speed once I'm done with my first set of goals! Yay!
