Seventh installment
Posted 12 years agoDear diary,
I had a very good week and a productive one, all in all. We should have finished working on friday but we ended up working the two days after (closing period is the one where all the surprising stuff happens) while we hosted a fun event: Some other archaeologist came, last year, and built a copy of the pottery furnace we had found evidence of in the settlement on the very spot we had found the aforementioned furnace. That kind of structure dates back to the IVth century b.C. and it's basically a dome of clay with a firepit in front of it (it sounds easy to do like this, it's actually not). This year we hosted a public event cooking some vases inside our furnace. That kind of cooking requires about eight hours, so we stood on the site until late night (and I slept in a wheelbarrow). It was quite fun, and the event itself had been quite successfull as not too few people came to partecipate!

Sixth installment
Posted 12 years agoDear diary,
I ate and drank so I'm good. Fuck yeah. Also, if I close my eyes I see stones and earth brownish grey.

fifth installment
Posted 12 years agoDear diary,
Today I went on the excavation site with my parents to show them where I'm working and found some people looking around (the place is open and can be visited). As an open suggestion from my mother I explained them the site a bit. It was quite embarassing.

Fourth installment
Posted 12 years agoDear diary,
today I'm organizing a GRAND PATHFINDER WIZARD BATTLE.
Fixed time to create character, heroic NPC stats, lvl 6, only classes with BaB=1/2 hd allowed, max hp per die. Last caster standing wins. The arena in which we will be battling is cross shaped with pits of acid and anti-magic field that switch on and off. Given that I roll only 1 I'll be last again, but it'll be interesting.

Third installment
Posted 12 years agoDear diary,
my luck is abnormous. "What is the inflation and deflation?" "Apart from a furry widespead kink?"
seriously, it's been too easy, well, good for me. Sunday I'll pack and go to work here, then, yay!

Second installment
Posted 12 years agoDear Diary,
seldom -if ever- I went to an exam so ludicrously unprepared as I'm about to do tomorrow.
Dear diary, I remembered just now why I thought that keeping a diary was a bad idea: I whine constantly.

First installment (or not)
Posted 12 years agoHello,
I was thinking, of all the people whom I'm stalkering here on FA some put up thoughtful journals. Some are very professional and use this particular feature to communicate sensible information about their artistic work, such as when something will be finished, what the artist is working on at the moment, and so on and so forth. Others use the journal to divulgate events or peculiar happenings.
Since I've never kept any sort of diary to speak of I suppose I could make it up here. Or not. I don't know I guess journals are that part of furaffinity most neglected.
Dear diary, today I studied all damn day.
Dear diary, I wish I could just go back to Guardamonte and dig, but first I have to study coins. Damned, damned greek-roman coins.
There's a type of roman token, the "Spintria", the function of which is not totally clear. These small round brass token depict on the obverse sexual acts, and on the reverse a number between I and XVI. It's been hypothesied that these could be used in brothels instead of the normal coin, due to the fact that it was strictly forbidden to enter brothels or latrines paying with coins depicting the effigy of the emperor. The number on the reverse would represent the amount of assis the token would be worth of sexual service.
I can't help imagining a guy walikng up to a bar, presenting the aforementioned token, and the man behind the counter shouting "A seven for the customer!" or "Who's ordered a fourteen?"

Kelts

1991 Pare, Furstensitze, Celts and the Mediterranean world(...)
In other words kelts were all about booze, brawling and big cars.

So, like, I don't know. I shall post some doodle, maybe but probably nothing complex because photoshop is not running in safe mode. So. Cheers mates.

Posted 13 years agoAs you might have noticed I haven't been uploading any new comic page in more then a month, for that I'm sorry.
I've been through some personal stuff of late and to top that I have a big exam coming up, these are the reasons for my hiatus; I hope to be able to post something soon, though I think it'll probably be at least for an other couple of weeks. In the meantime have a photo of vestine barrows http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-OLIkPwm4w.....l%2527alto.JPG
Take care and be of a good cheer!
P.s.: reading the barrow wight chapter of tlotr while studying barrow necropolises is fun

Like totally in peace
Posted 13 years agoA hieroglyph inscription said:
"secha necher em hetep er jmenet neferet"
"dragging the god in peace towards the reign of the dead"
Yeah. In peace, totally.

Posted 13 years agoSo.
Big exam next week and another the week after. I'm quite working my arse off, for this reason I probably won't upload anything for another week. Egyptian gods will have to wait: for now I am to learn stuff 'bout scumbag etruscans.
Fun (?) fact: "satellite" comes from the etruscan "zilathilat" wich means "magistrate (zilath) bodyguard"

Posted 13 years agoI just finised a D&D campaign I mastered for 9 years. Phew, it's been an handful!
I "rushed" the end, but... Well, I had a good time. I'm melanchonic now. Gosh darnit.

Posted 13 years agoI'm back from work. This is a wordy journal entry.
*jump down, turn aroud, pick a piece of pottery;
jump down, turn around, clean the wall all day!
-Oooh Giorgio, dove sei finito?
Ooooh Giorgio, turna qui da noi!*

Posted 13 years agoso... I thought I would have been able to draw another couple of pages before disappearing again but, alas, it appears I was wrong. I'm trying to draw better pages but it takes me a heckuva lot of time, so...
Tomorrow I'm off to work, I'll be away diggin 'till 26th of this month: have a good time!

[ITA] Ma cazzo.
Posted 13 years agoMa cazzo, interrano Nola!
http://www.ilmediano.it/apz/vs_art.aspx?id=2002
Interriamo tutto! LOL.
Grumblemumblemumble...
tl;dr english version: An awesome middle bronze age site in Italy will be interred because they didn't have money for it's proper conservation. This really cheers my withered pseudo-archaeologist heart.

Posted 13 years agoIn more then one sense. Heh.
So, like
Posted 13 years agoSunday I'll go to an anthropological/archaeological workshop for a week, then I'll go to the beach (to play RPGs, mind you, not to tan or risk doing anything healthy) then, later on, I'll go to dig.
For this reason I won't upload any new page for, at least, a couple of weeks, so, have a nice summer, folks :)
