If you're going there take a while to notice how piazza dell'anfiteatro was a roman amphitheatre, during medieval times people built their houses over it's cavea and thus the shape remained :)

Fascinating evenin'
General | Posted 16 years agoToday I spent four hours in the morgue rebuilding skeletons. I guess that puts me in a good halloween spirit?
anyway it'd been quite an interesting activity, 'xcept one skelton (female, caucasic, don't really know the age) smelled awful. Urk...

Weird
General | Posted 16 years agoI dreamt something weird some time ago. There was this sort of farm in the mountains, called "wind that breezes around the cuspid of gods' lance", all around the main building (a low rectangular blockbau) there were lots of small pigs covered with short fur, some big dogs and two lions, one of which white.
Here and there there were shadows -you know the basic enemy in Kingdom hearts? these - lurking around.
The door of the house was open and at the doorstep stood a young woman who was saying (to no one) "Damn heartless! they've been trying to take over this place for ages but I won't let 'em in! Lucky for me, it's becoming easier and easier, they just come at me in waves; at least in ancient times they disguised themselves"
the dream ended with this: http://img34.imageshack.us/img34/74.....eartlesskq.jpg

why the heck people keep on saying that I look older than I am? it's unfair ;_; look, my sternum's not completely calcified, the manubrium, body of the sternum and xiphoid process are still clearly separated!
On a completely different note, bones can be goddamn complicated, but also cool actually... did you know that you have swirly bones in your nose? turbinates

Justice
General | Posted 16 years ago"Wherefore, O judges, be of good cheer about death, and know this of a truth - that no evil can happen to a good man, either in life or after death. He and his are not neglected by the gods; nor has my own approaching end happened by mere chance. But I see clearly that to die and be released was better for me; and therefore the oracle gave no sign. For which reason also, I am not angry with my accusers, or my condemners; they have done me no harm, although neither of them meant to do me any good; and for this I may gently blame them."

It occurred to me that justice is a terrible human invenction.
There is no Just in nature.

Dear diary 2...
General | Posted 16 years agotoday I improvized myself as a shaman using some human vertebrae on a string and a cranium.
I'm going to enjoy these antropology lessons.

General | Posted 16 years agoWhy is it, I wonder, that every time I declare that I'm going on a hiatus I begin posting anew? I suppose I'm incongruent.

Question
General | Posted 16 years agoHai guys, would you be interested in a trade/collab thingie?
Just because.
BTW it's fun to do memes, and this is surely unrelated to anything previously said.
P.S.:I'm not high or anything.

Holyness
General | Posted 16 years agoI can't seem to find anything holy. I thought it normal, yet unsettling, if not upsetting.

Irony
General | Posted 16 years agoToday, given the folkloristic recurrence, I wanted to see if my papirology professor (whom I've never even seen smiling) had any trace of irony in his soul.
Thus, during the five minutes pause in which he goes outside class, I put a small (1.5 inch long) paper fish figurine quoting "IXTHUS" (fish in greek) on his desk.
I rather believe this'd been a delicate and polite sort of joke (I don't believe this is worth being described as a joke, more of a divertissement) but it didn't got the reaction (or lack thereof) I expected.
"Humpf, like kindergarten kids"
Geee... I wonder if that person even knows the meaning of "smile".
This even however has shown me another useful use of my being an invisibile, as I put the fish on the desk in front of everyone without even trying to hide, but at the end of the lesson no one seemed to know who did what.
I have a career as a ninja :D

Green Night
General | Posted 17 years agoBottles in line, mathematics, threevoiced assensus, dual converations.
Hours passing, beer fresh -refreshingly so- a slightly chocolatish taste;
"I hadn't talked in minutes"
He said. Cancer, but light hearted, it's pokemònish.
Laughter punctuate the discussion, are we so light in stepping upon mines?
Saint Patrick, ale festooned day.

Sounds
General | Posted 17 years agoFresco ticchettio d'acqua tra la neve
ascosto scorre un ruscello
suoni e rumori che non appartengono ad alcun tempo.
Odorose emozioni catturate col mio sguardo
perso in un mondo di declivi bianchi
una topografia d'ombra e luce brillante.
Caldo e freddo: soavi colori d'un attimo
e io soavemente sento.

Mummy tag
General | Posted 17 years agoMummy TagsDiscerning a mummified corpse form another can be quite a frustrating task indeed, even for the very people who did the process.
For this reason ancient egyptians invented the mummy tags! A mummy tag is a small piece of wood (or -seldom- stone) with a hole to tie it to the mummy itself on which they could write the late individual generalities: name, father's name, often the age, less often profession, year of death and sometimes a brief formula of farewell. In case the deceased had died far from home this tag also contained a sort of address to which "send" the mummy for burial, the name of who was to receive the body and wheter or not the shipment taxes had been payed.
These tags were rectangular or obelisk-like in shape and were in use between the seventh century b.C. and the seventh a.C.
Situation
General | Posted 17 years agoEven though I managed to pass my last exams, even though I felt as if I wouldn't be able to, 'tis doesn't seem the time to relax.
University has begun again today and I can't say this has been a good day.
Papirology, introductive lesson:
- professor->almost archetipically unpleasant, you know that kind of old man who seems to never have laughed his whole life? the kind of men that gives you the very distinct feeling that he thinks that he's been mistreated and understimated his whole life thus holding a grudge against everything? He's that kind of man.
- Subject-> as interesting as I think it is, it also requires a knowledge which I do not posess, nor do I see any mean of acquiring in a useful amount of time.
But after all I've had a very good lasagna at lunch, so it's ok after all :D
