I am back from the beyond. Over the summer I had little to no WIFI access, and was unable to check FA or communicate much. I got a little WIFI back last month but it was sporadic.
I now have FIOS. Its beautiful. Ill be around more often. Maybe not to the degree I use to be- since my job is more demanding now. But Ill at least be able to check in.

Not that these even get read. But I will be gone for the summer. "BUT WHYYYY" is asked!
Well I got a real awesome summer job, that pays me salary and provides housing. Its a great adventure coming up for me. And if I do well it will be a very shiny thing on my resume/ and in life experiences.
The downside the provided housing has NO WIFI. NON. ZIP. So the little time I will have access to the internet it will mostly be spent writing important emails and making sure business end of things does not go to shit.
So forgive me. I will be back on FA in early September. Love you all my fluffy friends.

Just an update
Posted 9 years agoAs most my furry friends on here know I am not terribly accessible ever. I'm also terrible at keeping in contact/being active on FA.
This is mostly because I work as a Intern on a stipend that is not a lot. I dont have a lot of extra money to do things, and not a lot of time to do things extra. Its unfortunate but true.
I am sorry that I do not post often and that I am not active in the community as often as I would like to be. Its mostly due to a lack of free time and having trouble socializing via a webpage. I would rather have a coffee with you or take a walk because in person for me is how I connect best.
Please please know that I do check in daily and think that all of you have such amazing art. And hopefully in a few years I may have a job with more average pay and a more predictable schedule so that I may be able to rejoin the normal flow of the fandom.
I will not be attending AC 2016, and it is very sad. The reason is a combination of Jury Duty (long story, I HAVE to go this time NQA or problems), job insecurity after May, potential graduate school, and a whole bucket of other things. Time and circumstances... Whenever I get back to AC I bet it will be so different from when I last went.
On the upside for you guys, if I do get into graduate school I will be spending some of the summer cleaning out my hoard at my parents house and may be selling some fur.
Other than that I have been on the fence about leaving FA with all the shit thats been going on for two years, as well as some personal problems I have had. Furry Friend in Crisis- asking help!
Posted 11 years agoI normally pimp my friends work and art for fun. But this time its serous. My friend Tsuneko Magnolian might be getting evicted. Some shenanigans occurred that I do not fully understand, but it culminated in the housemates did not get their eviction notice until it was expired. If you ever wanted some crazy rave kandi, a tea crasher set, mesh chainmaile fairys, rave helmet etc this would be an awesome time to do it because my friend needs some help. If you private message the etsy account Tsuneko may be able to make you a custom something, but it is limited to the materials she has since she has no money to buy more.

Thoughts on Fursuiter pictures NEED FEEDBACK PLEASE
Posted 12 years agoRecently I have been debating about posting more pictures of my fursuits in action. It was brought to my attention that some people would like to see this. Could I please have some thoughts from more active fursuit makers and fursuiters how to balance the picture flow and still keep an art related gallery without spammage? Just so you know i'm not leaving
Posted 12 years agoJust so you all know too- I am NOT leaving FA. I like it here and the community is great of what I participate in, I love the setup and I love the artists. I am comfortable in my FA account and I am leaving anytime soon. Everything is still going to be posted here; art, WIP's the whole 9 yards.
Yes, I did get a Weasyl account,. Yes, I understand that some people are disappointed in me for hopping on the bandwagon- i responded to the notes sent. To be honest I had never heard of this site before and I like having art boards up. So I saw the site and said I would give it a try. I actually enjoyed the format that its more like a portfolio and easy to organize and categorize- but that just may be my OCD preference talking. I guess I worded that journal wrong yesterday about "comment if you are moving to Weasyl" but I just wanted to collect friends over there too so that its just not sitting dead.
You are welcome to be mad at me if you wish, but I'm still going to be here on FA. Active. Yes I did make a Weasyl because of the CC fiasco, but I like watching their art, and they rarely post on DA anymore, so I would like to keep updates on them. I just figure if its another community I may as well find my friends if they have one too.

A Sculpting Dilemma
Posted 12 years agoI am currently having a sculpting dilemma with my projects.
I currently have enough supplies to make 1 fursuit head blank. I will most likely wait until summer to do this as winter is bad for silicone curing at my house. However my idea brain likes to plan. With these materials I could make one of three things:
1. A magpie/crow base
2. A Hedgehog base
3. A chow dog base
These would most likely not be for sale as I seem to have trouble with consistency and sturdiness of my blanks at this time. I would only have myself to be pissed at if my own blank caved, but I would rather not have someone else pissed at me. Once I learn to do this better than maybe... but for now its all me.
Anyway the dilemma is between these three for multiple reasons.
Magpie/crow- I started this costume last summer and it is complete except for feet and a head. I was actually thinking about buying a blank from another person, but they are done with resin casting their blanks for good. I asked, but they are on permanent hiatus. So I could use this kit to make myself a crow blank.
...However... I also have enough materials to make this one head I want out of tarlatan (the method used for Avocado- while not ideal does hold up). This would be a one-shot deal at the bird. The only hitch would be that the beak would not be very smooth, and I would get one shot and thats it. However I have the materials for this, and this could be done in the winter if i can get someone to plaster my face... for the 4th time... god why cant anyone do this right...
Hedgehog base- Honestly I want a fursuit of my character and every year this seems more and more plausible. After seeing Laylabelle accomplish hers (even if through purchase- http://www.furaffinity.net/view/9051045/ ) I am emboldened to try. My thought of accomplishing the quills is now buying fake monkey fur and spiking it. Sealing each spike with a resin coating and leaving it to dry. Honestly its not terribly appealing, but compared to other thoughts its the most plausible. And I want a blend somewhere between cartoon and realism. I also feel that other hedgies in the community may want blanks too... this only worry's me because of my inconsistency on the lack of structural integrity of my blanks... but yet having to charge a lot for them.
This could wait another year methinks... but methinks also that in a year I may be a crazy working individual without even these scraps of "free time".
Chowdog base- I adopted a chowlion character from Snowy. He is beautiful and I thought about making a suit of him. However I cant seem to find a chow dog face base. I dont like sculpting canid heads, and honestly this would be a challenge. But its the third option that bounces out of my brain every once in awhile, that I could try to make the chow dog, start him now, and have him done in a year or so...>shrug<
Overall its just the thoughts bouncing in my head. If you have comments on your thoughts please enlighten me.

So honestly I cannot wait for this semester to be over. Why? Because: FURSUITS!
I have a lovely little magpie to finish up, and a fox to make, and a psychoraptor to help with (if she ever catches up with me).
By my own Derp volition I am also helping: Revamp an old fursuit to make it a fu-dog. I am making small animal dolls, I may be helping with a re-vamp of a head that i made years ago.
SO MUCH EXCITE!
I love sewing clothes mind you, but fursuits help keep me interested and give the best change of pace ever. And great stress relief- i just have been feeling like S*** lately. Bleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeh.
Also if I have time I am planning to fix the headache problem in schooner (the brow band is too tight) and install a fan in the nose. Hopefully this will relieve some of the headache and overheating problems I have been having. Worst case sinario- i damage the structural integrity and have to re-vamp that head too.
More fun for me!!! :D

Posted 13 years agoToday is one of those days I would rather be fursuiting.
Most of the people who know me IRL know that I am in my last year of college, working on a capstone course that is running me slowly but surely- completely insane. I am currently waiting on tips of toenails for my fabric to come in so I can get started on my first design. I would be circling my mailbox like a shark if it would help at all. The patterns are perpetual work, and honestly there is never a day of "i'm done" to be found. Besides that I have been trying to keep up with my other studies, juggle work hours (however minimal- they are still there), keep the internal mental balance (easier said than done) and try to keep up a social life. I want the social life most, but to be honest since I'm not participating in my theatre troupe this semester, I have not seen as many people. But that was my choice so I wont complain. Its not like I have free time anyway... social interaction are by chance it seems.
I am just so stressed I would rather be fursuiting.
There is nothing so rewarding as hand sewing a head, and putting in eyes with epoxy, or sculpting a head base out of clay. Testing a jaw, or dancing around like an idiot as you try something on for the first time. Its therapeutic.
Likewise there is no thrill like dressing yourself head to toe in fuzz and running around anonymously hugging everyone you see.
I am half tempted to cause some chaos but my room here is not temperature controlled enough for a suit. :P

I have a magpie character named Serabella. Mostly because if you know me in real life you know i pick up random junk off the ground and hoard it for no reason. I just like shiny things. So I made a character for the clepto in me. Also because FehFeh does not cover everything about me... She is the main components, but I got some quirks that are not in her character.
Short bio of my Magpie:
Serabella is a confused bird. Often wandering around and just looking.. looking at everything. Looking for things that are interesting. If they are a bit interesting they go in her bag, if they are very interesting she affixes them to her hat, shirt, or pants immediately. She likes to think of herself as a "hipster" in style, although she is really just wearing random stuff. Normally happy and approachable she flits about from here to there enjoying a diet of gummy worms and bread with cheese. Always up for some fun, as long as it isn't a game of chicken with a window (she has lost that game before).
Yeap. Thats about it for now. She's going to be a partial so I will have two suits.

I am planning to make it a habit to go to uncle Kage's story time, I also want to attend some of the fursuit making panels, and probably one or two of the art sessions.. Also the Larp!

Puppy Partial now for sale at $300

So that puppy partial up for auction? Due to monetary constraints and medical things the previous buyer had to politely ask to withdraw their bid. Life happens so I said yes. It is now too close to AC to hope for a successful bid so I dropped the price to our absolute low (meaning any lower and my friend cannot go to AC) of $300!
Its buy now, its new, its clean, I made it myself. All the descriptions are on the Dealers den!
Please even if you dont want the partial- if you know someone who does, recommend it to them!

A question for you people
Posted 13 years agoHow would you react at a furry con if you ran into a "Lamb Chop" fursuiter.
I use to be a big fan of that show when I was little, and I recently found a picture of me wearing a fursuit version of Lambchop that my friend owned. I was like 6 at the time, but still. Her mom had made it and at the time I thought it was the most awessome thing ever.
Considering this possibly to be a frivolus endeavor. What are your thoughts? Would this be acceptable for a fursuit or is this something you would be like WTF at a convention about.
I know I have run into a briar fox at AC, so I might have to be in character... but seriously - thoughts?

Trying to find a lost tutorial

So tonight I am having my worry over the head I am working on and I am just searching and searching for this tutorial or picture I saw once that I just forgot to save.
It was about the placement of Toony eyes. How to place them so they dont look crosseyed, and what effects you can get with different eyes. Wider and smaller dilations.
I have lost it and I am SO SAD because it was the bomb. Problem is I cannot remember if this was a video or a set of pictures.

Fruit n' Veggie Packs
Posted 13 years ago I have some unfortunate news about the fruit n' veggie packs. My previous journal about this talks about how I would have time to do a "batch" run this winter. I remorsefully have to retract that statement. I know this will make those of you who were very interested in purchasing my packs/ watching me make them a bit unhappy. So please hear me out.
I normally try to stick to my deadlines and promises with commissions and such, but this time I am backed into a corner. I am helping costume a production in the spring that is honestly out of my league, and we need to do prep work over winter with the costumes. I also have about half a dozen personal projects I need to just get finished and either sell, give away or use. With my current situation I cannot in good conscience take on a batch run of these packs without worrying that either my health, or the quality of the packs would suffer.
I also have no clue as to when commissions for these could open. I'm honestly pretty shut down on commissions until I am done with college. I can only make things when I have time and I cannot be restricted to any more deadlines. I wish I could have recognized that back in August. But I am working on things on the fly so : If I do happen to make a few though, they will go up for sale on my Etsy page, and I will post a link. In that case it will be first come first serve. But for my sanity's sake I think that is probably the safest bet as of right now for me.
