Moving Out
Posted 18 years agoIts for real this time. I'm moving everything over to
halcy0n. So please feel free to watch me there now. But be patient as I'll be uploading a lot of the old stuff you've probably seen before. I'll have some new works up shortly though.
So this is FSP, signing off.

Names? Trying not to piss people off...
Posted 18 years agoAlright. Someone mentioned an old name I use still at a Transformation gallery and I feel a little torn. At that gallery I used the name "Halcyon". Now here on FA that name is taken by a blank account, so I'd have to use something like Halcy0n. Which could work fine for me.
So, what do you guys think? This is kinda important since this is what I plan on sticking with. And I hope you understand since I really don't try and bug my watchers with this crap often. This will be it. Once the name is changed, that's where I'm staying.
(You're probably like, "Damn, Make up your mind already..." ) But I'm gonna sleep on it a couple days before I go to a new account name and see what everyone thinks.

Question for my Watchers
Posted 18 years agoMoving Galleries, and Changing Names
For a long, long time I've used the name feline_space_pirate. And it was never meant to be permanent. The name is just kinda generic really as a placeholder. I've played around with finding a nickname for myself before. Something unique but simple. Most of people I've seen around the galleries have real cool names so its been hard to figure out what would work. I was playing around with a random name generator and thought that "Xetaji" sounded and looked pretty good. And no one uses it. So here's a question to my watchers.
Is it a big hassle for you if I were to move my images to a new gallery and watch me there?
[ ] Yes. I can't be bothered clicking my mouse to go watch you there. It hurts my hand. You'll always be feline_space_pirate in my heart.
[ ] No. I welcome change. It was a long name anyway. Why'd you pick it to begin with? I'll follow you anywhere.
[ ] That name's stupid. How about this one, "_____"
And if I do move, should I send notes to my watchers or just let them figure it out through my journal?
EDIT: Let's hold our horses on the watches for a bit while I try and make up my mind on what to do with this name change. It will happen. I'm just not sure what name I'd like to go by... I'm sorry for all the confusion that I'm causing. Please don't hurt me.

Favorites, Watches, and Shouts: Thoughts?
Posted 18 years agoI kinda ration out my favorites to at most one a day. That way it just shows that the image just stands out amongst the flood of other images I get under my watch list. It doesn't feel as important to me if someone is marking every recent image that pops up on FA. I dunno. That's just how I feel about it.
I look forward more to seeing comments on my image than anything too. So when I mark a favorite I also comment on the image and let them know why I like it.
I don't watch everyone that watches me. I do go to that person's gallery that's watched me and see if they have anything worth watching. I don't watch empty accounts since I don't see much point. I don't watch to make friends, I just happen to like that persons work. If someone wants to make friends, they can feel free to contact me, all my info is right on the front page.
One thing I don't get is why people get upset that people thank them on their shout box. Isn't that what the shouts are for? A lot of artists I've seen are saying things like, "PLEASE DON'T THANK ME." or "It clutters up the shout box." Clutters? With what? Makes it feel like the person is saying, "Take your stupid kindness and go ta hell." Seems kinda uppity to me.
I'd like to hear peoples thoughts on this. Maybe I'm wrong.

Taking Commissions: The Sequal
Posted 18 years agoOkay. I've finished the last round of commissions and I've decided that I'll only take pencil drawing commissions at the moment until I can master Photoshop or maybe some other coloring program. The problem is partly my tablet which likes to zig-zag when I draw diagonally. Being only a 70 dollar purchase, I shouldn't be surprised since the good ones cost about 300 for the same size. Anyway. Here we go...
These may take about 2 weeks to complete as I the only time I have to work on them is short. My current employment doesn't allow time to sit down to draw during work hours. So its all done after hours and on weekends.
I will be using Paypal to receive payments. If this is a problem, let me know up front. I'm open to suggestions on what other ways to take payments. If you'd like to receive the originals let me know and we'll work that out by email or PM.
The example I have up there is G rated, but I'm open to just about anything at this point.
I will be putting up your requested image in my galleries for display unless you request otherwise. So please let me know if you'd like to keep it to yourself.
For the moment, until I'm more comfortable with Photoshop or Flash, I'll only be doing commissions in pencil. Coloring is just grueling for me at this point and I just can't get things to look they way I want in the amount of time that would make it worth while.
All these conditions are not set in stone. Once I start taking commissions I may update the rules as I see fit.
I'll be taking 5 at a time as it stands now. I'm new to this so please be patient with me.
So 15 USD is the starting rate. This seems to be a fair price to most people and it makes it worth while for me. Payments will be through Paypal unless you want to discuss other means.
Current commission slots:
1) Hellkat
2) Fernin
3) Jaiden
4) Seritaph
5) Provolvere
All slots are taken. Thanks everyone for commissioning me. All work will be done in the order it was taken. Seems people weren't as eager this time around. I've noticed a lot more people taking commissions. I guess people have less money this time around.

Taking Commissions
Posted 18 years agoI hope I don't regret this. ^_^; I'm currently taking commissions. I'll be taking 5 at a time as it stands now. I'm new to this so please be patient with me.
I've updated my commission information, so please take a look there for pricing and conditions before contacting me.
Reasons for doing this are pretty standard. I need the money. I can't seem to get ends to meet currently and its down to this and selling plasma.
So 15 USD is the starting rate. This seems to be a fair price to most people and it makes it worth while for me. Payments will be through Paypal unless you want to discuss other means.
Please post here if you're interested.
Current commission slots:
1) Screaming Organism - Kylie Griffin (Extreme Ghostbusters)
2) NeoEnigma - A&E playing tennis
3) Wanderer - ?
4) Hellkat - Lizard Herm TF *COMPLETE*
5) Fernin - Sasami to Ryo-oki TF
***Wow... Okay. Slots are full quicker than I anticipated. Don't feel bad if you missed your chance. I'll open up the 5 slots once I finish these. I'll be taking the commissions five at a time to pace myself. Sorry about the confusion. Thanks!***

Q & A stolen from Amedeus, who stole it from Pendragon
Posted 18 years agoI felt like updating anyway and this seemed like a good qusi-meme thing to use. Before I go on just a little update on my happenings.
I've begun the application process for Savannah College of Art and Design and hope to make it to the winter quarter. I'm looking at majoring in Sequential Art or Illustration. The professor who reviewed my portfolio last month said I should look into Animation. Which would be awesome too. Just as long as I get a career in art, I think I'd be overjoyed.
I'm seeing someone new and we're getting along well even though there's some distance travel between us. I'm meeting her folks this coming weekend and then next month I'm taking her down to Tampa to meet mine.
1. What is your favorite anime?
Cowboy Bebop
2. What is your second one?
Tenchi Muyo (The OVA, Couldn't really get into the spin offs. And I like it mainly because of Ryoko)
3. If you could change your username without losing your stuff would you?
I dunno. I know my username feels like a placeholder, but I really don't have a nickname to replace it. How do you guys come up with your nicknames? I'm sure everyone has a story behind them.
4. What is your favorite japanese song?
Chinatsu Kuzuu - Variety Variety (I don't even know many Japanese songs, but this one caught my ear)
5. Who was the reason you came to FA?
As an alternate place to post my more risqué work without being bombarded by ads and crappy database.
6. Who was your first watcher?
I cannot recall that, Senator...
7. Who was the first person to do a commission for you?
Fred Perry, I don't buy many commissions as I don't have much cash. If I could, my walls would be plastered with other people's artwork.
8. How many people are currently watching you?
184
9. Do you currently* have any problems with FA?
Yes. But as far as the service goes, this is an excellent gallery. You can't beat this place for functionality, reliability, and easy use all being for a free service with occasional donations. So really, my complaints are minimal and I'd be satisfied if nothing was ever changed from here on.
10. What is that problem?
The same problems Amedeus had mostly. The species list is sparse and I've never seen the search function work, but I don't really mind it. The browse function does what I need anyway.
11. What is your favorite furre related online game?
Second Life, but I rarely play anymore. It got too frustrating
12. What is your favorite non-furre related online game?
Tales of Pirates
13. What online game do you wish you could play?
None, they just haven't drawn my interest lately.
14. Do you wish you could draw?
Draw more? Yes. But that's all on me. I'm just lazy sometimes.
15. If you could somehow be able to draw by trading your writing abilities?
I can do both. I like how most of my written and drawn work comes out, I just want to be more productive.
16. Do you wish you had more people watching you artwork sometimes?
Always, but they will come to me if I manage to put more out to see.
17. What do you hate most in the world?
I don't really have a burning hatred for anything. I figure all things have their place. Even "ignorance and stupidity" as Amedeus had mentioned. There are things that are there to present a challenge to the rest of us. I know that sounds kinda cheesy, but without an opposition people will not strive to be better than they are.
18. Would you leave FA anytime soon?
No. I like it here.
19. Do you wish you had as many people watching you as you watching other people?
I'm not trying to win a popularity contest. I like when people watch me, but you can't make them do it.
20. What is one of your fantasies?
To get a career in art. (Working on it)
That about does it. Thanks for reading! :3

Short Rant, Long Update on Current Happenings
Posted 18 years agoI really wish there was a way to turn off journal alerts. That's probably what most of the people that see this in their alerts are saying. There are a ton of artists I like to see art from, but I wish they would keep the inane myspace-type crap off these boards. I wouldn't care as much if there was an option to block the notices. But there isn't. And I'm sure this has come up before.
Anyway. I know I don't post much, almost exclusively due to my own lack of dedication and motivation. But I managed to crank out that last Buru picture in a few hours with a little experimenting in Flash. The lines are a lot cleaner, so I'm going to keep using this for now as much as I can. I've started another drawing with just the pose sketched out and the rest is being done through Flash. We'll see how that goes.
I really, really want to get a better tablet though. I know there are some at Circuit City that are ideal, but the 300 dollar price has that on hold. Right now, I'm using a pad I got at some computer parts store for 50 dollars. It does alright, but has a lot of flaws. It doesn't draw diagonally without zig-zagging sometimes and it skips over part of my screen. I'm lucky to have it for now though.
I think my latest relationship has got me inspired a bit. She's a writer and is looking for a publisher for her fantasy book she's finished. She has a script for a comic she's been wanting to see done. It was put in a drawer somewhere for a while since she said she didn't have an artist for it. I've asked to take a crack at doing a couple pages to see what I can do. So far the collaboration is coming along well. I've got sketches done she seemed to like and I'm about to start inking them in flash. Unfortunately she lives a few hours away so we've only seen each other a few times and its hard to match our schedules up to see each other in person. I hope we can work things out in the long run though.
Now that I'm getting a little more productive, I've been considering taking commissions. But I'm not sure if I'd have enough takers that would pay to make it worthwhile in paying for a new tablet. :3
I guess that's my quarterly rant. Thanks for reading and thanks for the replies on my last journal entry. They did help.

Posted 19 years agoHeads Up! I'm going to whine here... I hate whining. Depending on how I feel later, I'll probably just delete this. But...
What if you're the person people ususally come to when they have problems? You're the shoulder to cry on, the rock of confidence people seem to anchor to when they're in doubt. So, what happens when you have problems and there's no one you can seem to count on to just listen to you and maybe give some advice? I feel better blabbing to complete strangers here than talking to anyone I know here.
People seem to generally consider me a nice guy. I do get that a lot. So why is it that people just want to crap on the nice guys? I like to feel useful, do the right thing, work my hardest, etc... And I always want to assume the same is true for others. I'm shy and quiet, I know this. I go out and try to be social. Come coworkers tell me they want to invite me out to a club, just to hang out and have a couple drinks, but then call as soon as I get home and back out. Or I end up calling them and they after waiting and something's come up.
I've had few dates the past half year. But here's what happens, after the second date usually, they decide to either: A) Not call back, I try twice, leaving message to try and get them to call back. After that I get the hint, B) Wait till the last minute to cancel the next date, or C) They want to be friends so they can tell me about their next dates, what their problems are, and ask me to go out to movies only to leave me hanging half the day after promising to call back and never do.
So with all the data here I can only assume I'm the problem. People don't want to be with nice guys. They want to hang around loud assholes, talk about football, get loud crazy drunk, or whatever. I'm not into sports. I liked playing when I could get together with friends. But what is the damn excitement in seeing some overpaid jock chase a ball around?
And apparently all the women I've dated only want some guy to be loud, forceful, drunk, and abusive. I'm sorry I'm not an asshole. I can't even fake being an asshole, its just not in me.
Maybe its just the state I'm in. South Carolina is still a bizarre and backward cultural mess to me after 3 years I've spent here. But then I'm not sure if its just here or everywhere I might go.
So, I get along well with people, but they don't want to be around me. How am I supposed to interpret that? ...so very confused...
If you've read through this whole thing. Thanks. Its just come to one of those situations tonight, and I felt the need to vent. Hopefully it didn't come out as just a rambling mess.

Major Upload Finished
Posted 19 years agoThat's all from my folders. Thanks for the warm welcome so far. The rest of my updates will come as I finish new pieces. As far as favorites. I really don't mind if you mark a lot of my stuff as favorites, mark as many as you like. :) I do enjoy comments more though. They give me a better sense of how I'm doing.
EDIT: I'd rather be on the cautious side with DA. I've posted a few borderline things there. I have an account under http://felinespacepirate.deviantart.com/. Their alright for a more serious side of art. Its more fun here. Besides, I'm guilty of not leaving comments too. I favor a lot, but I'm no art critic. I usually don't know why I like a piece other than it just catches my eye.

Large Upload... More tomorrow.
Posted 19 years agoThat's pretty much everything decent from my hard drive's transformation folder. Tomorrow I'll upload more. I'm glad people seem to like what I have so far. Critique is fine too, if you have some constructive critisizm. Be kind, I don't want to see crap like "U SUX! STOP DRWING!!! LAWLZ" No one else does either. But you've heard it all before.
New/Old Additions
Posted 19 years agoI have a DA account, but since FA is more inviting to some of my works I'm going to start posting more here. A lot of TF work. All of it is pretty old by about 3 years. But I like how some of them came out. I'm just putting them out hoping to get some comments. Since most of this has just been sitting around on my HD a while.
