Where am I? and clock tower dreams
Posted 9 years agoI've been in a writer's group so I can get a second opinion on what my writing is lacking. As a result I've been screwing around with my first x chapters fixing all kinds of crap including removing details about clothing-or-other people don't want, clarity issues, and wordiness.
I haven't done any drawing in a while so I could drop either a quick sketch, place holder image, or you know, just upload my current chapter as an actual textual upload. if that last one becomes the case i might only draw images for important characters, chapters or events.
Oh yeah, maybe it was a product of reading Harry Potter and the Cursed Child in one day then trying to write late at night, but I had a very vivid dream of the clock tower I'm writing in right now. I hope I can get it as creepy as it appeared last night - rusted shut doors, flickering/not functioning lighting, and a broken lift the inside of which smelled distinctly of rotting meat. The whole nine yards. Stranger is probably for the past two nights I actually dreamed of being Balluric. Arctic fox, white fluffy tail, control over ice, when i get chased I run on all fours. Although, that last one has been normal for years now.
Hope i have two things ready soon,
Drink safe, drive responsibly,

Writer's convention
Posted 9 years agoAs in I'm back from it. Philadelphia, city of uh, bus fare. That means I can probably try to use some stuff in my writing but most likely I myself won't notice a difference. I guess I need to draw for this chapter too. Damn it, my troubles really are endless. Anyway, as always,

Posted 9 years agoOkay so I found out what makes it easy to write (boring legal disclaimer about how results may vary from wolf to wolf, or wolf to insert-individual-here). Apparently just playing quiet instrumental music on my computer stimulates creativity because it blocks out external noise and occupies some other part of my brain which doesnt contribute to writing. Damn it I wish I found this out sooner.

Boom Roasted
Posted 9 years agoMore chapters and illustration/sketch/crap. Next in addition to continuing to write I might go back and make a real illustration for the chapter with the out of place dragon (which apparently even after losing my hard drive I managed to recover the massive 3000x3900 pixel file). At the same time I'll probably post my new cover illustration for my first book. And on that topic I think I'm starting to move towards finding a publisher now.

Between a ship and a hard place
Posted 9 years agoI'm officially done with university, or at least with being an undergraduate. Problem is I'm probably supposed to start trying to get a job or something and meanwhile I've been on a pretty rocky road with my writing, which is to say I'm struggling a bit at the moment which explains the lack of anything for the past, I don't know, four months now? I think I just need to get past this chapter because it's kind of the end of all the introductory crap. Soon I can get into the (insert meat joke here) part of it.
I also still have tons of line arts to go through and an idea for a feral species I want to have appear (a lot) later. With any and all luck I can push through the remainder of what is essentially the "main character walks for ten pages" chapter and get to where things are interesting.

Earth Day
Posted 9 years agoHappy Earth Day! Also I'm slammed with finals and term papers for the next week or so until I graduate uni. Here's hoping I can balance going over line arts and writing.
Also shouldn't everyday be Earth Day? We only get one Earth after all. Anyway, drink safe, drive responsibly.

Happy St. Patrick's Day
Posted 9 years agoFun fact I'm Irish. I'm also Native American, but in addition to alcohol I watched Zootopia today as I figured I should do.
So bottom line I finished making what I feel should be the final cover for my first book and am working on the next chapter of the godsends. Also I think Nicholas P. Wilde (which I've pronounced will-day for the entire time I've ever seen the surname Wilde) stands for Nicholas Phlamel, creator of the philosopher's stone who now must live as a fox obviously.
Anyway, drink safe, drive responsibly.

Got sick, but I'm over it
Posted 9 years agoso now that it's friday my weekend and my 3 day long headache disappeared I can finish that lineart I started like...ago. Afterwards a short break from the chapters to digitally ink the linearts of a few unrelated pictures I did while bored. Since I've been so unproductive...have a sunset (see sunset below).

Next stuff
Posted 9 years agoI have a few stuffs coming (hopefully). I've just about finished the lineart for my next chapter already with the chapter itself just needing to be proofread. Maybe late next week I can have both ready but that may just be wishful thinking.

Happy Birthday Felix
Posted 9 years agoIt's the last day of the 3 day celebration of Lupercalia which can only mean one thing, it's Felix's birthday. I'm going to celebrate by finishing my drawing for the next chapter, finishing writing the chapter after that, proofreading the current chapter, writing three papers for my last semester at Uni, reading two text books, and probably buying a six pack after my afternoon classes. Perfect, happy birthday me.

Hey Feels what the hell are you doing?
Posted 9 years agoI just finished the next chapter which will fit under the whatever-mega-byte-upload-limit this time. Also don't patronise me. Now I need to make the picture to accompany that (insert display of grief here). I've already started the next chapter which introduces one of my favourite characters. Here's a small snippet of what they're like:
Metal, it is the last element created, and it is not the strongest. It's bitten by fire, water, air, and time alike. It is the heaviest element, all with lithium and beryllium exempt created after carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen which form the basic foundation of life. And despite its weight, metal can be bent, melded, malleable, or brittle. It takes many forms: iron, copper, zinc, nickel, silver, gold. Solid and liquid. We value it more than any material. We treasure it. We gift it in the form of a ring to the one we desire. It is the very core of our entire world.
Can you tell I'm a scientist? Yeah, thought so.

Finals(ly?)
Posted 9 years agoFinals are done so now I'm into my last semester of uni. But now I have break for a month after holiday times. Expect drawings of a tiger with a gun, a thylacine with a sword, and a striped hyena with a crossbow and a uh...affinity for pyrotechnics? I'll probably stick to greyscale in the future.
Oh and I've got about 13 more pages which...need an accompanying picture...sh█t.
That's it for now. Drink safe, drive responsibly

Finally stuff happens
Posted 10 years agoOkay so I'm finally done editing my current book meaning I can start working on this one again. Or maybe not, but hopefully university stays significantly away from slowing me down. I think I still have 3 book related drawings to finish as in the lineart is scanned into my computer and needs goings over. Anyway, hopefully I can be a bit more present from now on. Wish me luck.
No, wish me luck louder. I can't hear you.

less dead ahead
Posted 10 years agonow that ive moved into a flat i have internet once again as well as a bathroom and a kitchen. I might be back at uni but I'll probably have more free time than when i was working in the summer. I honestly havent touched the book im writing here in a while and just to assure people that hasnt died either i should probably work on getting my finished parts out...but that means i need to draw something to go with it. currently I'm doing a visual piece for a character who hasnt been met yet as well as finishing editing my first book. Still though, hopefully shit starts moving again

Rough times ahead
Posted 10 years agoOkay so I dont even remember what my last journal said at all but I've hit some pretty rough waters recently. Even if I didn't have 100 things going on inside my head at the same time everything that seems to have a chance to go wrong is in fact...going wrong but I'll spare the details.
Bottom line is I work 5 days a week and because of back problems by the time I get home each day any amount of productivity I wanted to have is sapped out of me so I eat. sleep then the shit starts all over again.
While at work I am managing to get some editing done which is nice but I cant really edit and write a second book at the same time (not proficiently anyway). As for illustrating freaking forget about it since it takes me forever to draw anything a quarter decent anyway. Actually I think when I go back to uni I might have time to work a bit more. Imagine that.
So I'll leave with this: I got 99 problems and a bitch...oh wait I'm a wolf so a bitch actually is one (or lack thereof). Anyway, enough whining from me. Drink safe, drive responsibly. Hopefully see you around the beginning of september when I have constant internet and a constant roof above my head.

Update
Posted 10 years agoSo I'm still out of my house which means I have internet like 2wice a week which means when I have it I'm mad busy. I think I've relegated myself to just drawing sketches (probably black and white) as illustrations for my current book which I promise I haven't abandoned. I have a chapter done but lost the artwork for it meaning I have to redraw the fox dude. I'm also roughly halfway done the next chapter (I think) but I also work five days a week and will be getting back not-quite-surgery next week and no, I'm not remotely old yet.
Hope to be less useless soon.

WORST customer service ever!
Posted 10 years agoDell. <- short version.
I mentioned having computer issues recently and I just got my computer back and (mostly) running, but I need to take a moment to openly warn anyone with future computer problems to be careful around dell tech support. Normally I hate calling tech support anyway but I needed to have dell send me a box so they could fix my (under warranty) computer. I had a hardware issue wherein the left click turned off my computer. After 30 minutes of talking to tech support the dell employee established that yes, left clicking does in fact turn off my computer. After an hour he asked me to take out the battery and hold down the power button for 20 seconds <- WORST IDEA I EVER HAD. He never told me that would wipe out my OS and make me lose all my files. I spent the next 30 minutes trying to get them back (still over the phone) where my tech support mr. had to continuously put me on hold to find out what to do next and I sternly believe he was just google searching the answers. 2 hours into the call I'd had enough. I could no longer log in to get near my files and tech support kept trying to get me to start windows in safe mode which was impossible since my OS was wiped out.
I really wouldnt be that angry except I lost some art I was working on and I also would have lost some of my story which was not backed up because it was not yet finished. It was a really easy fix. Send me a box and dell will replace the motherboard. Done. but my hardware problem became a software problem and what? 20 days later I have most of my files back but still need to reinstall microsoft office which says I have 0 available downloads on my account. Ugh.
Bottom line: use a degree of common sense when dealing with tech support (better yet try to avoid tech support if at all possible). If your computer is under warranty just wait the few days to send it back instead of letting some stranger try to fix it over the phone. I realise I'm partly to blame, but this became far more of a disaster than it ever needed to be.
Also yeah, since I lost some art and just got my latest chapter back (and am minus a word processing program) more delays ahoy! (goddamnit...)

Posted 10 years agoThank you Felix, I'm on a phone because I don't have interwebs, my computer crashed and I have to reinstall all my crap, my left mouse button now immediately shuts down my PC and that means even more delays for art and writing. also I probably week be off the grid for probably a week ish and then longer when I doubtlessly have to ship my computer away to be fixed. Good night everyone

I'm not dea- wait, maybe I am...
Posted 10 years agoI've just about finished writing eight papers for five different classes and finals are coming up soon. That would explain the amount of nothing I've managed to produce recently. I just feel so dead all the damn time. I think I'm just stressed out. I really think I just need to get more exercise and I'll feel better. But I have been sitting on a new chapter, a picture for said chapter and finally a complete ref for myself all for about uh...a month-ish plus? dunno, but hopefully I'll be less busy, meaning i can be more busy soon.

The Questions Game: Lightning Round
Posted 10 years agoOkay so I have another question for any artists or other (but mostly the former).
Am I the only one who does their line art with paper and a pencil, scans their line art into their computer, and uses said scanned picture as the base of a digital picture?
I feel like I am which adds what I see as a few extra hours to anything I draw. Most of my ideas just start on paper and I don't really feel at all confident starting from a blank canvas on a computer with a tablet. I don't know, maybe that's just weird.

The Questions Game!!!
Posted 10 years agoWelcome to The Questions Game with Felix Lucarius, an exciting new game where I ask hypothetical or perhaps less so hypothetical questions. I'll be your host today and I''ll be giving out zero whole new cars. Get amped and let's go!
1. Does it seem arrogant for people (Homo sapiens) to claim ownership of the world and all its species and or claiming total superiority?
2. How many years from now will their race go extinct?
3. What will the next 'intelligent' species be/what will they most resemble?
I've been thinking about this for the past few days while writing and it won't leave me alone; meanwhile, most of the courses I'm taking this semester at my uni are just making me hate people more and more so I'm curious if anyone else has any views they want to share.

I was almost getting things done
Posted 10 years agoBut now I have all the term papers to write, damn. Well hopefully I won't have to push back some of the four-ish arts and other things back TOO far.
I'm actually going to post the introductory chapter and first chapter of a new book sort thing with said pictures mainly to see if it would be anything people (and you non-people, you know which you are) would be interested in seeing here. Want to know what its about? Here's a snippet: "Just look for the third-degree burn scar on his junk."
Also don't let the man keep you down.
