Artist in Need of Help
Posted 3 years agoHey guys - it's been a while since I've posted a journal, and I'm still working stuff out (both in creative and in the mental/emotional senses) - but with everything that's been going on in the world right now and how goddamned insane it is, I feel a need to make a shout out to one of my artist friends who's been impacted by Putin's invasion of the Ukraine.
DarsyK is an amazing Russian artist who's livelihood is being impacted by what their president and government has done (one of many artists from both sides of the invasion, as everyone is already aware). If you can spare some money, or even just want to share with other folks who would like some gorgeous work for fair rates (here's their pricelist: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/41487876/), please check out their FA and note them - or email them at darsyk69@gmail.com.
You can see an example of their work in my gallery (https://www.furaffinity.net/view/42064993/), and they're working on another project for me that I'm looking forward to sharing as soon as it's complete. If you like what you see from that example or by delving into their gallery and if you're interested in having them make something for you - or even just to share your support, please give them a note or kind message. They're a lovely person stuck in a terrible situation they hate that is beyond their control, doing their best to get by while the world has gone insane.

The feck - when did 14 months pass?
Posted 7 years agoHoly crud it's been a long span since the last journal. I'd like to say that my being quiet has been due to being productive, making progress on my project, and that I'm about to do some pretty awesome stuff...
Well, there has been some progress on a few things. New characters have arisen, there's been more development in regards to those characters and the world that they live. There has been a little bit of writing - some of which have been posted. There's been quite a few new ideas that have come up for further stories and work. All of these are good things.
However... I haven't completed a full story in that time. I still have so much more world building to do, and a lot of the many characters there still need additional fleshing out and expanding upon. Overall, I'm nowhere near where I'd like to be as far as my creative work goes... And it's my own fault, really - I've not been in a very good place, mentally, for a while, for various reasons I won't get into here, and in part, that makes self-motivating difficult. Coming home from my day job leaves me tired and frustrated too, which doesn't help.
There's still more that could be done - and I can try to push myself to get more done.
I'm planning on trying to push myself, make self-deadlines and figure out ways to get myself to stick to them. I'm not where I want to be, creatively speaking, but I'm going to work harder to try and get there. Here's hoping I can follow through.

Oh god it's been a while - here's a thing!
Posted 9 years agoWell folks, it's been a bit since I've posted any new art - and even longer since I've posted up a journal. Without getting into too many details because I'm sure I've said some of it before, it's been a rough year and it's been hard to get into the work, though I've certainly brainstorming and thinking on my M.E.A. stuff every day. There are a few pieces of art I need to get up once my brain stops being a bundle of fuckery and I can work up some prompts for them - and there are a few written things I'm working on here and there, even if they are dragging.
So while I'm trying to get my brain back in order, I decided to post the roster of Man-Eaters Anonymous members (prior or Richard's membership), with a few little details on them, along with a couple of the main refs for them - for the characters with art, that is. Without further ado, then:

Annnd so those are the local M.E.A. members (or at least the majority/most regular members) prior to Mr. Richard Vincent joining up. There's 42 M.E.A. folks altogether - and actually half of them have some sort of art! Rather surprising, that - and I would absolutely love to get at least one piece of all of them, though I won't get my hopes too high for that… And of course, it's not considering the fact that there are even more characters in the Felton universe - with just a small fraction of them already in my gallery…
I guess that's part of the fun and joys of this project. The world is constantly growing, with new people, new creatures, and new aspects of this universe coming to light all the time. It's full of life, with fleshed out people living their lives with the people they love (and hate) - and weird as the people in that world may be, it's interesting to see what they make of what life (and the warped creators that are myself and the people close to me that contribute to this project) hands them.
Anyway, that's enough of my babbling for now. I'll try to get myself out of my present funk to post more things, both in the realms of art and my actual writings - and maybe a surprise or two. And if anyone is curious about any of the characters listed that haven't popped up in the gallery, feel free to ask questions. Until then, everybody out there take care.

Felton Irregulars Defined - Strange Pets
Posted 9 years agoNot too much to report this week; working on various things (or trying to, at any rate), and just existing really. Going to get right into the F.I.D. update this time, pretty much... Here's hoping you guys like weird creatures. :3
There is more to the world than sentient Extranatural beings and supernatural phenomena; there are also many forms of strange fauna and flora in the world, hidden from most human eyes through various means. Some are dangerous abominations, true monsters that make brave souls shudder at the concept of facing them. Others are benign, and benefit their environments - or at least are more minor annoyances than actual threats to the people that live near them. And in hidden Extranatural communities, like the Felton Underground, more than a few of the latter two are taken in as pets. There are many species, but as a whole these critters, in the Felton area, are called "sewer puppies", due to their location under the town under Felton proper - and because, on more than one occasion, they have managed to get into the sewer systems of both Felton and the Underground. Here, we're going to address some of the most popular creatures that are taken in as pets.
Concrete Eels: This species vaguely looks akin to a moray eel, only stubbier and smaller in general size. Gray-green in color, they have four eyes that luminesce in the dark. They also have a beak-like protuberance that they use to gnaw off chunks of concrete or other bits of stone - their primary diet, and the source of their moniker. They're fairly good pets, as long as they are kept fed and happy. Their temperament is not unlike a house cat - and they're even more capable of structural damage on one's home if they're not kept in check. It is advised that, when not handling a Concrete Eel, to keep it in a sturdy, secure pen.
Sewer Dogs: The species that have actually been dubbed "Sewer Dogs" are a kind of pug-faced amphibian, built somewhat like a salamander. They have broad mouths, protruding eyes, and a thin coat of slick fur on the back and flanks used as camo to hide in sandy or rocky river bottoms. They have small, pointed ears which stand out, a paddle-like flat tail (per a salamander) and six clawed, webbed feet that they use to latch onto rocks and underwater plants while feeding. They mostly eat snails, small crustaceans and shellfish. The males also have large "throat sacs" they inflate when calling to mates in the right season. This is a common pet in coastal Extranatural communities, as it is relatively easily trainable, and makes for a very friendly, loyal companion - but they can get very loud (particularly the males), especially when excited, with a cry somewhere between a bark and bass drum.
Meerqualgeists: Also known as "Sea Nags", water gremlins or sea imps, this is an amphibious species that is alternately reviled and adored by seafarers. They come in variant sizes and forms; all of them have four limbs, large eyes and a mouthful of small, strong and sharp peg-like teeth, and they secrete a powerful corrosive saliva that lets them dissolve metal, which they then eat. That's the primary reason why they are considered a pest by many sailors - but at the same time, their waste has been found quite useful as a solder in welding; additionally, if they can be tamed and trained, they are very clever, playful pets. The most common variants of this species are those with finned underarms, sort of like a flying squirrel, or more amphibious ones that have fewer fins over all, looking more Toadish.
Trash-Crabs: A sort of crustacean most often found using refuse or garbage for a makeshift shell. They function a similarly hermit crabs, although they are each about the size of a football. They are quite handy little creatures as they also eat garbage, processing it into something similar to compost. Other than the oddity of having garbage "shells" made of various bits of flotsam and jetsam, your average Trash-Crab isn't terribly extranatural in nature. Only when they molt and grow uncontrolled or unmonitored do they really show their more unusual nature, as sometimes one will be found in the Underground that's well above normal size. An example would be one actively living under a dumpster in the Felton Underground, moving from place to place with the entire dumpster as a shell. As Trash-Crabs are not a dangerous species unless actively threatened, this hasn't been considered an issue; most people don't mind using the dumpster for trash as it passes, and it gets to eat what they throw inside. It is almost a kind of Underground mascot, and is fondly called "Scruffy". It is also noted by many chefs that Trash-Crabs, after cleaning, are quite delicious. That sentiment is shared by Sewer Dogs; it is ill advised to keep both species as pets, or at least without supervision.
Fungal Ooze: More like a mycoid spore or slimemold than an animal, Fungal Oozes are palm-sized masses of warm, gelatinous goo with small glowing eyes on stalks. They are rarely kept as pets because they're inactive most of the time, but the most frequent use for them is as stress relief. They feed on plant matter, usually algae or moss, and secrete a soothing, lilac-like scent that has been proven to help alleviate stress. Most people who keep them keep a number of them together in a shallow water tank with plenty of food and will play with them once in a while. They're good "starter pets" for kids, since they're also almost impossible to harm by accident.

Felton Irregulars Defined Update At Last (And Life BS Again)
Posted 9 years agoIt's been a while since I've put an F.I.D. or any kind of personal journal up; I've been experimenting with keeping that on Tumblr - plus there haven't been too many of them beyond what's already here... Plus, there has been just... So much crap with this year, and it's still so close to the beginning. The worst thing being that I lost my Grandmother a week after my birthday - and this was just over a month after my Granddaddy died (two days before Christmas).... Add to that financial stresses and other things going on in life, it's... Urgh. I'm failing at words - which is really bad for someone trying to be a writer. But it's been a lot of heavy weights, and it's been wearing on me a lot...
Anyway, I've got a few extra F.I.D. updates for here, and I'm trying to work up another right now. Have a few other things that I'm working on - short stories, various little things in my project. Going slowly due to work dragging me down and distractions, but trying... As per usual, if anyone has a question with what's in the entry, or you want to see another topic explored, let me know and you might get the decision on a future entry! In the meantime...
Among the definitions of Magic, it is defined as a power that allows people to do impossible things by saying special words or performing special actions; or the use of means believed to have supernatural power over natural forces. Or, simply, a special power, influence, or skill. Some describe magic as just natural phenomena that science has yet to explain or quantify. In a world of Extranatural beings and strange goings on, the presence of magic is quite readily accepted - if not too easily explained, though there are some experts and agencies (such as the Supernatural Response, Research and Relations Agency) do try to explain where it comes from, how it works, and what makes some people capable of being magic users while others seem unable to tap into it - or even acknowledge magical or supernatural effects when they're right in front of their faces.
There are many ways to categorize and define the differing varieties of magic in the world; there's really no right or wrong way, no completely standardized system. The Research division of S.3.R.A. tries to keep it simple, though, by breaking it down into four very generalized forms. This is no easy task, and there is considerable overlap between the different categories, but they are as follows:
- Racial: There are several Extranatural beings that are inherently gifted in magical abilities, or have a certain gift or gifts inherent to their race - and, thusly, are categorized as Racial magics. This is seen in various Shapeshifter species with their knack for transmogrification, the numerous Fae or varied Demonic beings with their varied mystical gifts, certain Protean talents - like the Sirens "song" or Gorgons paralyzing people into a stone-like state, many of the Dreamlander races and their ability to tap into the energies of that other plane to reshape the world, travel between worlds, and manipulate both natural and unnatural forces. Some beings are just born certain skills - and others have to gain them through other means.
- Ritual: There have been various forms of mystical or paranormal phenomena found around certain people of various religious practices. Practitioners of Voudon (commonly known as Voodoo), Wiccans and Witchcraft, other "pagan" religions - and even main stream faiths as the many variants of Christianity, Judaism, and Islam. These typically fall in with what are considered Ritual magics, with spells or "miracles" fueled by acts of faith or, as the name indicates, enacting rituals, and some form of chanting or prayer. It should be noted, though, that the results of this kind of magic are often quite unpredictable; when channeling the forces of faith or calling on a higher power, one can’t be sure of what strings might be attached.
- Natural: Some people are just able to tap into the primal forces or elements of the world (Earth, Wind, Fire, Water, etc.), and are able to bend, shape and warp it to their will, for whatever needs or fancy they might have. Or there are locations that lend themselves to certain mystical forces that some people are able to tap into to fuel certain abilities or particular kinds of magic; ley lines, arcane hot spots, alternate realms of exsistance, etc.. These fall into the realm of Natural magics - mystical energies or forces either inherent to the world, or capable of interacting with nature and affecting it.
- Constructed: The magics that were invented exclusively in the providence of Man are referred to as Constructed. These normally include Summoning and Conjuring, with the difference in definition being that Conjured beings are created from nothing, while Summoned beings are pulled from other realities or elsewhere in the same world. This includes summoning Demons, extra-dimensional beings and creating things such as Golems and Elementals from scratch - and sometimes even aforms of necromancy. Generally these are magics that were formed as bastardizations of pre-existing magics, twisted to serve a specific purpose until either they fit the mold given or broke it and made a new one. These spells are difficult, time consuming and above all else dangerous, and are rarely practiced with "good intentions".

Oh Dear God I Did A Thing.
Posted 9 years agoA tumblr account thing for the project stuff. Going to start uploading stuff about Felton Irregulars there - stories, the Felton Irregulars Defined entries, some of the art... Basically it's about sharing it more, and seeing if anything approximating interest in this thing is out there, since not too many folks have commented or said anything on F.A. I can get why - not a lot of furry things in this gallery, and... Well, it just seems pretty common for people to not comment. Anyway, if you want to check it out, here it is:

Updates - Felton Irregulars Defined and Life BS
Posted 10 years agoAnd after a long span of quiet (aside from a good bit of artsy goodness), we're back with another Felton Irregulars Defined entry, as well as a general status report. Things have so quiet for the last couple of months due to certain work and personal stresses… Yep, still at the same job - though they pushed me back to a part of the job I'm more comfortable with, so that's something. Things keep getting stupider and more frustrating there, so we'll see how long it holds.
However, the primary issues have been just emotional/mental… I've been in a kind of bad headspace for the last few months. I've been tired fairly regularly, not sleeping well for ages - and I'm a very anxious, high strung person, to be honest. As exhausted as I've been, it's impacted my drive to get work done. And because I haven't been making progress in a lot of areas (or not as much as I'd like), I've been making myself miserable and have been very critical of myself. There's been some very negative thoughts running through my head, and it's been a kind of vicious cycle… To say nothing about other things that it's impacted.
Erm… ANYWAY, I'm working on those issues. Talked to my doctor and got some medication, and I don't know if it's helping, but I'm going to be trying to work stuff out harder - and try not to be so negative towards myself, and try to find a rate I can work on my project at.
So, time to get back on the saddle. Got an update of the F.I.D. variety! So if anybody is actually interested in these, here you go…
In this world, non-human entities keep their existence on the hush-hush. They are a minority, and have reasonable concerns over their continued health and safety if humanity as a whole ever found out Extranatural species are real… But that doesn't mean they're an entirely unknown quantity.
Higher level government and military branches have some awareness of Extranatural beings, as well as specialized law enforcement - but there are other groups who are aware are more than humans in the world. Some are private interest groups in big business; there are a few religious sects who acknowledge the existence of inhuman entities; there are "monster hunters" and Extranatural enthusiasts… As much as Extranaturals try to stay on the down-low, the world isn't 100% unaware. And today, some of these groups are given note:
The Rejectionists - A faction of "monster" hunters that seek to "correct" history by destroying Extranatural culture and peoples.
The 30 Pieces - A religious order that views the existence of Extranaturals as a punishment for Man's betrayal of faith. They are violent zealots who will kill Extranaturals and human "sinners" alike.
The Red Band - A private military company that specializes in hunting Extranaturals for a profit; they do not have any personal motivations for their choice in target beyond money.
Wahler Institute - A big pharmaceutical and industrial powerhouse looking to exploit Extranaturals for their own gain. Not exactly evil, but patently amoral.
Sons of Adam - Essentially a group of "conspiracy nuts," they are vocal but harmless religious protestors against the activities of Extranaturals, easily ignored and discredited.
Hominis Dominae - A legendary Purist order, last confirmed active during the Crusades. Predating Christianity, they made it their duty to hunt down Extranaturals, humans that consorted with them - and the hybrid children of Extranatural and human couples. The extinction of numerous cryptid animals and sentient Extranatural races are credited to the Hominis Dominae.
Aubern Institute - An association of academics and well-meaning humans with old world roots, they are friendly with the Extranatural community, and strive to advance the study of the supernatural and extranatural world.
Volkov-Vostok Corporation - A major multi-national conglomerate that clandestinely caters products and services geared to Extranaturals. The board is mixed with human and Extranatural members - mostly vampires and lycanthropes.
Different Is Beautiful (D.I.B.) - An underground fetishist organization espousing romantic and erotic love between humans and Extranaturals.
Knights of the Black Briar - An old Germanic/Teutonic order of Extranatural and human allies, formed during the Crusades to help hide and protect supernatural relics and knowledge of both factions from the Church and other destructive forces. Now defunct, there are small offshoots of the Black Briar that work toward the benefit of Extranaturals.
Haaah... Welp, yay, this is up! Back in the saddle after several months... And you can thank my mate,
JosephH for helping me work up the groups, and
Notin89 for asking about this matter several months back and giving me fuel for another update. As always, if there's a particular topic you folks might have an interest in, ask away - and it may give me fuel for another round of Felton Irregulars Defined! Enjoy!

News and A New Thing
Posted 10 years agoHello all! It's been a while since I've made an update in this here journal - mostly because it's been a while since I've made major progress with M.E.A./Felton Irregulars things, aside from getting up some newer True Facts pieces, some other wonderful art posts - and, very recently, to my delight, two stories that you may have noticed: "The Little Bird in the Lions' Den," the collaborative piece written by myself and my mate,
JosephH, as well "Expanding Horizons," a shorter piece Joseph wrote after being inspired by some art commissioned from
Omina of our characters, Hilde (one of his contributions to the Felton/M.E.A. universe) and Harriet. I'm absolutely thrilled that we've gotten some stories up - hopefully I'll be getting some more worked out in the near future.
There's been a lot of stress in our lives of late that's been less than conductive to a creative mind frame. There's been progress, but not as much as I'd like - but I'm still going, and working on some changes that'll help reduce that. In the meantime, though, I've come up with an idea to both explain some things in the M.E.A. universe that may be unclear, vague, or has only been passingly addressed in the past, and (maybe) help with further world building - particularly if anyone out there has a question about some aspect of the Felton/M.E.A. universe that they want further clarification on!
So, for the first time ever, welcome to Felton Irregulars Defined! Essentially a glossary/dictionary/encyclopedia/whatever the appropriate term is of people, places, things, and terms from the setting I'm working in! I'm going to try and do this every one to two weeks, addressing five to ten subjects. Starting out, I'm only going to list a few of the most recurring subjects or ones that I'm particularly dwelling on at the time. My hope, though, is that maybe some of you fine watchers will ask questions about subjects you've come across in the gallery, or really anything you might be curious about so I can take the opportunity to both share some information from my little world of weird - and maybe figure out some more about it myself!
Time to kick things off! Going to start with the most obvious one:
Man-Eaters Anonymous (M.E.A.): A support group for predatory beings who wish to find alternatives to satisfy needs or curb behaviors (instinctive or acquired) that are harmful or abusive towards other beings (often humans), and seek help in making such changes.
Extranatural(s): An entity or entities that are native to Earth (i.e. born on), but are in some way outside the norm, such as Werewolves, Vampires, Tcho-Tchos, Ghouls and various other "Monsters." Also frequently referred to as Extees or XTs.
Supernatural: Per Miriam-Webster, supernatural is defined as "of or relating to an order of existence beyond the visible observable universe; especially of or relating to God or a god, demigod, spirit, or devil," or "departing from what is usual or normal especially so as to appear to transcend the laws of nature."
This definition still applies in this universe, and often applied in situations involving Extranaturals, as well as strange phenomena in nature; "Supernaturals" is often used interchangeably for non-human entities. However, it isn't always the most accurate term for Extranaturals. Truly supernatural creatures usually fall into certain categories of the Undead, Ghosts, Demons, Spiritual entities, or entities from beyond this physical realm.
The Supernatural Response, Research and Relations Agency (S.3.R.A.): In nearly every nation (or at least every industrialized nations), there is at least one (if not more) government agency, task force, or department established to deal with concerns regarding Extranaturals, the supernatural, and all the stranger aspects of the world. In the United States, S.3.R.A. satisfies that function. The agency and its operatives fulfills multiple functions, as its name might indicate, but for every function it serves or service it provides, its primary goal is keeping all the more "unusual" aspects of the world under humanity's radar.
As its moniker would also imply, there are three departments in the agency, each with its own functions and responsibilities. In brief, the more basic functions are:
- Response: Various law enforcement duties, both within the non-human and human communities; most emergency responder services.
- Research: Studying non-human entities and supernatural/paranormal phenomena; collecting and maintaining data; repurposing extranatural, paranormal, supernatural, or extraterrestrial resources for practical purposes.
- Relations: Providing social and public services to non-human entities and humans influenced by the supernatural; coordinating between mundane authorities and the Agency; PR work to keep the human public's knowledge of the non-human world to an absolute minimum.
Felton, Massachusetts: A coastal New England college town. It was founded in the late 1600s-early 1700s, it was initially a small fishing and farming community, as well as minor trade hub due to being located near the mouth of the Miskatonic River. The Felton University of the Arts and Sciences (F.U.A.S.) was created in the early 1800s, and almost immediately entered something of a rivalry with neighboring Arkham's own Miskatonic University.
While the town doesn't have quite the prestige of Arkham or its school, it's no less a thriving, bustling community (it averages around 20,000 residents year round, not counting extreme fluctuations due to the student population or others who seasonally call the town home). It's spread across both sides of the Miskatonic's mouth, and possesses a healthy shipping industry, as well as other economic business. There's also a rather dense forest near the town that's been designated as a wildlife refuge, though some areas allow for camping.
As with many other cities and bergs in the area, it has a reputation for strange, sometimes paranormal activity of various forms, and unusual individuals that call it home. The locals shrug it off on average, though; after all, every town has its rumors and ghost stories… And every town has its secrets.
The Underground: The secret of Felton. The town was established as a safe haven for Extranaturals and humans either connected with them or otherwise with the supernatural in the wake of the fear and paranoia Salem Witch Trials. While the humans and near-human looking Extranaturals settled on the "surface," the stranger residents, those that were unable to pass for human or could not manage surface life for other reasons, found their way to caverns that were accessible off the river. They expanded under the town, digging deep, reinforcing through various means against water and other elements, and creating secret access points to the surface.
The Felton Underground doesn't quite cover the same boundaries the city above does - it has had to divert for various reasons - but it is a considerably sized community, matching (if not surpassing) the one on the surface. It has its own school, businesses, government and institutions - although several of them are connected with or extensions of the city above - with an unimaginably diverse population. It is what the town's founding fathers and mothers wanted it to be; a (mostly) secret place for those who don't fit in with the human realm to grow, live and prosper - while still maintaining some of its ties with the rest of the world.
Annnnd that's our first update for Felton Irregulars Defined! Hoped that either cleared some things up for some of you folks, if you did have questions - ooooor if it inspired more questions, or there's other things you've seen in the gallery that you think needs some explanation, ask away and I'll hit it on the next round of Felton Irregulars Defined! If you don't ask, you'll be leaving it up to random chance what will be cropping up!
As for next week's update - WELL, I'll admit, that one's already decided on! I hope you like Trolls - and I don't mean the WoW or Internet variety! See you then!

Mid-Year Analysis is Go
Posted 10 years agoFigured that it's been a bit over a month since my last journal update, so it seemed kind of due. Additionally, it's the eve of my half-birthday (yes, I keep track of my half-birthday - mostly because it's my Dad's birthday so it's something easy to track) and it seems about the time to do some analysis on stuff going on and my progress with various things... That should be "fun."
In the realm of updates and things, as anyone who's paying attention to this stuff, there's been a few updates since last time; mostly reupdating some of the headshots with new "True Facts" info. I did that all the old pieces, and some new ones popped up as well. There's also been new art submitted here and there. Funds have been tighter for various reasons so that's slowed down the acquisition of new art pieces. Admittedly, I do have a few pieces I'm holding back because I want to post them with stories or for other purposes, as well as a few newer pieces that I just haven't posted yet due to everyday life and day job related distractions.
On the written work front, there's at least a few things to say. Last night I put up one of my older written pieces; I have a few of those left, but I'm running out. In regards to new things, I'm presently editing a work my mate and I collaborated on together. The going on that is slow. In regards to other M.E.A. project stuff - well, character development has been getting some good bursts over the last month. No small thanks for that is due to my mate - we've brainstormed and he's come up with amazing ideas for numerous side and background characters for the world of M.E.A., and he hasn’t offered up a suggestion I haven't loved yet. In the realm of concept art, you'll be seeing some more of the characters he's helped bring about soon, and we have a number of side story ideas featuring our "Felton Irregulars."
As for the actual main story line things, or newer side stories… Well, I still have my basic outline for the main story line, and I'm always coming up with new ideas for the main group and other characters. But actually sitting down and writing and hacking out the actual story…? Not too much progress there, I'm hate to say.
I have a few reasons for my frustratingly slow progress. For one, my day job of the last year, as it's gone through its multiple changes, wears me down and stresses me out so that at the end of the day, I really just want to relax and not think about anything. I'm wanting to look for a new job, but I've not got a whole lot of experience in job hunting (this is literally my first job out of college - my second job altogether if you count my student worker gig at school) - so it's definitely on the daunting side, and besides… Well, I don't have a lot of confidence in my abilities, and I have this deep worry that I won't be able to do better than what I'm doing now, and I'll just fuck it up and then have no job and financially ruin my household. It's probably an irrational fear with little truth to, but it's still there, and it's not something I can put away easily.
I will also admit freely but with no small amount of shame that I am a highly undisciplined, unfocused individual. When I'm feeling stressed, it's easy for me to get distracted and lose myself in other things under the "It'll only be a moment's break, I'll get back to it in a moment" mantra. It's pretty much just another form of procrastination, and a horrible habit I've had for much of my life - and like most bad habits, it's hard to break. I guess part of what I need to do is just try to find ways to help make myself focus and just buckle down for what I want to do… Blugh.
So, half-way between 26 and 27, taking looks at my personal progress on my projects with mixed feelings. Looking towards the remainder of year 26 and trying to figure out what I want to try and accomplish, and how I'll get that done. Lots of stuff to contemplate… Also, a desire to contemplate how I can get even more delicious, delicious concept art of all these wonderful characters in my life. These are the things running through my mind at the moment. Have I overshared? Probably, but eh. They're things that have been on my mind and probably contributed to my inability to get a decent amount of sleep last night, so maybe it should be shared…
ANYWAY. Here's an updated list of stuff and things.
1. Revise and work out the Man-Eaters Anonymous storyline.
2. In general, flesh out more character profiles.
3. Again, work out more Race Info stuff and tweaking the layout.
4. Finish editing the collaboration story.
5. Post "new" (or at least new to people who aren't me or the significant others) M.E.A. related works.
6. Work on short stories for some of the art in the gallery.
7. Put up unposted artwork when I have a moment to work up proper descriptions.
8. Seriously, try to find a new day job. Health insurance related call-center jobs are hell.
9. Consider the goals I want to set for myself for the next six months and what kind of progress I want to have on my personal work by the time I'm 27.
10. Sleep. Because once again, I am so fucking whipped that I am always worn down. Sleep needs to be a thing.

Annnnd Journal Update Thinger is Go
Posted 10 years agoAnd as it's been nearly a month and a half since the first journal, it seems about time that I made an update. Don't know that anyone who watches me is interested in getting updated on things, but you'll be getting one anyway!
First order of business. From the end of April/all of May To Do List, I did knock out some of that list - though I'm a bit ashamed to say not as much as I'd like. My day job in a call center has been steadily getting busier and more craptastic, and has made it it's business to suck out my soul and desire to do anything when I get home beside relaxing, and for the last two weeks we've been put in a new "training" class that has fucked with my schedule and my boyfriend's, thoroughly messing with our sleep schedule, leaving us freaking exhausted and putting us in bad moods for various reasons. Additionally, our 13-year-old cat is not doing well - he's been sick and losing weight for almost three weeks now, and we can't afford to bring him to the vet. And to top it off, in the last three days I've had a severe panic attack and I've been getting sick with some kind of sinus-throat-crud. Needless to say, it's difficult to get in the right mindset to get to the work I really want to do when that kind of stuff piles up.
But, as those who are interested in Man-Eaters Anonymous stuff may have noticed, art is still going up, and there have been other posts! I have more artsy things lined up from various artists - some clean, some dirty, all of it related to the wonderful, weird world of M.E.A. I think I need to work up an actual list of who owes me what exactly so I can keep better track, since a few pieces have been owed for a while. That may be something for another journal, though.
All the headshot work from the ever fabulous
KawaiiJumi that's been posted previous to this latest batch is about to be taken down and reposted so it will match up with the new "True Facts" series with the characters who, thus far, have headshots. I like the new theme I have going, and I just want consistency with what I'm posting in those regards - and those who are interested can find out more details about the characters in question. Well, the details I'm willing to share just now. So, as I said, look for the first 9 KawaiiJumi headshots to briefly disappear and reappear over this weekend... Also, if you know what this new theme is referencing, you get brownie nerd/internet points and a long distance fist bump.
I do have more, older, writing things to share with you folks as well. Another 10 minute play related to the ever squishy and lovely Ghoul Clarice that I'm planning to revise into a short story down the road, as well as a Mar short story that I wrote many moons back and have kind of been stuck on as how to continue. I know how the whole story will go, but getting it out of my head has been something of a trial; I'll talk more about it when it's posted up. Also, my boyfriend and I collaborated on an adult story featuring one Harriet Sparrow and a local Felton couple who you may have spied in my gallery that will be going up just as soon as I'm done editing it. Again, work-related exhaustion has had me dragging my feet on that. It's another thing I'll try to tackle over this coming week.
That's all I really have to share for now, aside from an updated to do list. Hope to get more "new" things posted within this next week or so, and I hope that you all enjoy what's being put up. As always, feel free to comment and critique, as long as it's constructive. It's alright to not like something in the gallery and share your opinion - but if you're going to be a butthead, you're just going to get ignored. This is a No-Troll zone.
...Well, except for the mythical kind, that is - but that's for another time. ^_^ Stay tuned, friends and neighbors!
1. Work on character profiles as a whole (with a few specific ones at the forefront).
2. Update Race Info for entries on Tcho-Tchos and Reanimate Ghouls with new sections.
3. Continue to figure out if I may have a new layout for all my Race Info crap.
4. Figure out what race I'll be working on for the M.E.A.-verse next.
5. Post "new" (or at least new to people who aren't me or the significant others) M.E.A. related works.

7. Update KawaiiJumi pieces for the new "True Facts" theme.
8. Contemplate finding a new job that doesn't get me as stressed out so I can get more project work done.
9. Update job résumé in case the above list item becomes an option.
10. Get sleep 'cause goddamn, I can't do jack when I'm so exhausted I'm sick. SLEEEEEEP.

New Gallery, New Journal - New Habits?
Posted 10 years agoDon't know that anyone will actually read this, but hey, it certainly can't hurt. Plus, I did say I'd be making journals on this sucker, so no time like the present to try and get it done, right? So here goes nothing.
First order of business - hi everybody! If somehow you breezed by the front page without reading anything and jumped into this journal for whatever reason you had for that, I'm KVLF (or
KaevielEff), and this would be my newly christened Man-Eaters Anonymous gallery. What I'm hoping to do with this sucker is share the various stuff and things related to my Man-Eaters Anonymous (or M.E.A. for short) project, such as the stories I (or perhaps my mate, as he makes contributions to my work somewhat often), the art either of us commission, background information on the people and settings in this little universe, and various other odds and ends.
As you can see, I've been very busy getting all the art up over the last few days. There are still a few pieces I haven't posted up for a couple of reasons, but they'll get on here in time, and there's more art in the works on several fronts. That's not everything left to post up, though. I've got some written work in the wings to share (may spread that out a little further apart than I did the art, though), and as stated, there'll be plenty of info-y tidbits to share as the urge to share pops up... Honestly, what this journal may be used the most for is to share what exactly I'm working on with the project right now, as well as just goals and to do lists. I'm fairly easy to distract, sidetrack, and I get kind of hesitant on approaching my usual folks that I discuss this project with, so maybe putting out a "This is What I'm Doing, I Will Not be Procrastinating" list may help... I don't know why in the world I might think that, but eh - maybe if I know that other people know about what I need to get done, I'll get it done so I won't get "you slacker" looks from folks.
At any rate, I hope that all you people that stumble across this gallery find something that you enjoy. Feel free to comment with questions, compliments, critiques, or even just random comments or greetings - just whatever they are, keep them courteous and respectful, and I'll do the same in return. Have fun - I know I'll be having a fine time trying to work all this crap out. :3
1. Finish off Race Info for Werewolves.

5. More work on the primary character profiles (mostly writing out their history info).
6. More work on two newer characters (can't say who - that would be telling.)
7. Find a good timeline maker thing so I can start making a timeline of events in M.E.A.
8. Post the play that started this crazy mess for you people out there.
9. Work on short stories for some of the art in the gallery.
10. Contemplate where the hell I'll get the time, energy and focus to do the first eight items on list and the zillions of things to follow.
11. Have a panic attack.
12. Have mate shake sense into me and tell me to get back to work.
Yeah. That looks like manageable list... Yeah... <.< *Hides under her desk. Gets to item 10 ahead of schedule.*
