So this has been marginally bugging me for some time now, but what's up with the endemic depiction of dominant women/dommes/dominatrixes in furry art as wearing collars? It's not just a fashion statement 99% of the time in BDSM play. It's a mark of control and ownership by a domme over her submissive partner. So why do folks keep dressing up ostensibly dominant women with a collar, and a collar with a ring attached which is just there to grab and pull or for a leash to be attached?

I perfectly understand that switches exist, and I don't mean to make them feel invisible, but if you're in top head-space, I would think that you'd not want to be wearing a collar that emphasizes your submission.

I strongly suspect this is just artwork being drawn by or commissioned by folks that have absolutely zero real world experience in BDSM.

If you want someone to commission you, perhaps the worst thing that you can do is to note potential commissioners and attempt to guilt them into commissioning you. So I made some comments regarding those stupid sexy xenomorphs on a surprise bit of Christmas gift art by  Heartcollar over here: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/25825027/ and I felt that it was worth breaking out into a journal in and of itself.

So yes, I find xenomorphs and other such Giger-inspired material to be ferociously, confusingly sexually attractive.

In the artwork in question I adore how  Heartcollar drew me just waltzing around in a xenomorph hive dressed in latex. I totally would. Totally. Totally would. I would waltz in dressed in latex, and oh dear, a xenomorph might come across me do all sorts of terrible things to me. That's how I see those things now, but that's not how I always saw them.

I actually ran screaming from the room the first time I watched Aliens (when it first showed on network television sometime in the late 80s). I was a little kid then and all I remember was when the marines found the person stuck in the hive wall and then the chestburster started tearing out of them. I ran crying to the next room over, slammed the door shut, and read for the next few hours while my dad watched the movie. I could just hear people screaming and aliens shrieking through the door. That gave me so many nightmares! ... and now as an adult I find them sexually attractive... this says a lot about me. I have no regrets and they're sexy as heck.

I think it's because I really like the idea of being owned and protected by something big, strong, and terrifying (and of course letting them have their way with me too!). And since the Aliens (and the alien queen especially) was so absolutely terrifying to me as a kid, the idea stuck around with me, and of course as an adult getting into BDSM and having a serious weakness for latex and shiny things... well the xenos are both big, strong, terrifying and glossy and sexy, so yeah they're pretty much perfect for my twisted, kinky self. My partner thinks I'm weird for having this particular attraction, but she understands where it comes from (and I'm absolutely not alone in the attraction).

Honestly Giger was just a brilliant artist and he went out of his way to make the xenos both terrifying and confusingly sexy. Some of his unused design pieces for Alien 3 were even more overtly sexual (he gave the alien plump kissable lips and curvy hips). Both his work and stuff others have made inspired by his stuff are just delicious and yes I'm probably messed up in the head for feeling weak in the knees and wanting to bite my lip when I see such terrible creatures such as those below:

Just as an FYI to everyone, with the holidays and family and school obligations, I'm not going to have anything ready to post until after the New Year. So as Halloween nears, I need some horror movies to watch with my partner. So give me some more obscure/less common horror movies to try. I prefer more atmospheric horror, psychological stuff, but ok with sci-fi elements. My favs include Alien, Session9, V/H/S, Southbound, Event Horizon, Nightmare on Elm Street, Blair Witch Project, The Fourth Kind, Fire in the Sky, and Rec. My favorite horror novel is Shirley Jackson's 'The Haunting of Hill House' which is simply perfect, from the opening paragraph, the lesbian undercurrent, and the last page which literally left me wide eyed and in shock at how brutally horrific it was. So that's the style of horror I most appreciate, but I'm open to options beyond that if they're really good.

Preferences question for you all: xenomorphs with or without boobs?

Obviously they don't have them (or necessarily a distinct gender except for the Queen) in the movies, though Giger's concept work did include them from time to time. So what do you prefer? Xenomorphs without breasts, or with them?

Personally I enjoy xenos with boobs because I like them, both theirs and my own, and it's both more attractive to me to look at, and easier to relate to and write if they're present. But some people are more movie purist and find it jarring when they have them.

Opinions?
