Dream of the last Shedu (and astral projection)
Posted 11 years ago It begins with me riding my bike to work. The sun is shining and the day is pleasant and mild. The road is smooth and almost entirely flat, black and the dividing line bright yellow and unblemished. I am the road's only traffic. I'm riding through a residential area, the houses appear to be made in the germanic architecture, with heavy wood beams stretching multiple directions with stucco packed between.
As I pass under a railroad bridge made of quarried stone covered in dripping foliage I realize that I've rode farther that I had intended, my destination was behind me someplace but I could not summon the memory of having gone through the town where I work, which in the dream was supposed to be Reedsburg but not.
I then looked down at the digital instrument on the handlebars and confirmed that I had gone almost twice as far as I should have. I rode up to a pharmacy intending to find out where I was and to get directions back. The building opened up as they sometimes do in dreams, and I rode up to the counter before stopping and dismounting my bike. I approached the counter and the pharmacist and spoke to him. There were maps on the counter, but they had been cut in half along the north-south line, so the only part of the bap that was available was of the east side of the town I was currently in.
The dream shifts then but remains the same dream. The pharmacy changes to a J shaped room with square corners and wood facade paneling walls. Here there are three men and one woman, all scientists from some black&white sci-fi B movie. the people are grey scale while the room and indeed all my dreams are in color. There is a counter top of speckled white dividing the smaller portion of the room with the half-maps stacked at one end. In the larger portion of the room are several cardboard boxes which one of the men wants to 'return to sender' but another begins opening them.
Inside the boxes were champagne sized bottles with red labels on some of them. The ones with out labels were differently shaped. One of these was conical with the proportions of a classic pyramid, approximately 17 inches across the base and made of volcanic green glass and a large cork bung. Tethered around the neck of this bottle were several pages of letter size paper in clear plastic sleeves. One of the men who had taken to unloading the bottles to a shelf recessed into the partition wall, next to bottles of coca-cola-classic spoke legibly "What's this? Instructions?" I don't know what the instructions were for but I presumed for the scientists (or pharmacists/astronauts)to get intoxicated. One of the men began pacing back and forth then, in front of the counter, growing agitated with creative frustration while the other three discussed theories which are the kind that are instantaneously forgotten upon awaking, as if such ideas cannot possibly exist on the outside.
The dream shifts once more with the four people (and myself?) moving further west to a less geometrically defined area with significantly less ambient light, to a house made of cardboard and painted with green grass and randomly colored flowers along the lower edge. We enter the house and are greeted by an older man surrounded by toddler toys spread across the grass green carpeting, with few spaces between the toys to allow for stepping. In the middle of the playful mes, the old man hides in an over sized unlabeled paint can. The can looks like the keep of a castle, surrounded by Duplo Lego walls coming out from the can in six directions.
The old man seems frightened of the intruders, who look at him with pity and soft disgust at what they see. The woman makes a gesture to one of the men mho draws a pistol. The woman turns her back on the elderly child and closes her eyes as a single gunshot ends the life of the castled player. the single gunshot replays a few times as the victim was not visible at the time, being just off-screen in the dream. Myself as observer likewise did nos watch the killing.
The dream shifts one last time as the cardboard house fades to a welded metal pair of rooms separated by an open doorway. We stand in the smaller room and look through to a strange creature laying upright in the middle of the floor of the larger room, surrounded now by empty concrete floor and darkness. It's body was that of a hump-less camel with the hairless head of a man, it's eyes dim with pain of age and basking in the only light. Sunlight streaming in from an unseen window, only large enough to shine on the creature too weak to stand. One more replay of the single gunshot and the creature fades from view, replaced by subtitles "The last of the great creators has found extinction at the hands of these brave believers."

As I remain in bed studying this dream several thoughts occur to me which indicate astral projection, since all my dreams that involve astral projection have certain features in common.
The visible spectrum is slightly wider that is other dreams and real life. The bike i was riding was red with slight iridescence into infrared.
The spacial dimensions are greater that three. the area between the J shaped room and the cardboard box-house was strangely shaped and colored.
Only on the astral plane have I met beings that could be called Gods or Monsters. the creature fits either of those categories.

Wisconsin Dells area furmeet
Posted 11 years agoIf anyone is interested, I would like to organize a monthly meet at Captain Dix in the dells, perhaps the first or second weekend of each month.
the bar is fursuit-friendly and there is wi-fi and a dance floor.

Dvorak
Posted 11 years agoWhile I was in Minnesota I uncovered my netbook keyboard to clean all the tiny crumbs that were collecting under the keys. While I was doing this I discovered I could easily, if carefully switch the keys around. I remembered discovering Dvorak simplified key layout years ago when I had Mavis-Beacon on my old Macintosh 'brick' and searched both online and in my control panels for a way to set up my keyboard for Dvorak.
The internet directed me on the software parts, where to find the proper control panel and so on. So then I did the rearranging of the keys and have been happily learning and using this marvelously efficient setup for several months.
The Qwerty configuration is not only severely outdated, it's random and sloppy. I am not ready to understand compassionately, why people would rather continue to suffer an inefficient model rather than make the small effort to upgrade to the more useful and scientifically derived configuration.

Have you heard the good news
Posted 12 years agoI just overheard a news report that incandescent light bulbs are going to be no longer produced, imported, or exported as of 1/1/14. I personally approve of this turn of this, as incandescent bulbs are far too energy-inefficient.
Something to write about
Posted 12 years agoWell I'm more or less finally moved in to my relative's house in Minnesota. It's a nice house at the end of a pretty street, in a well groomed neighborhood, within easy distance from downtown Minneapolis. My aunt and grandfather are renovating the basement so my aunt can move in also and sell her house as my grandfather is getting very old and soon will be unable to care for himself. He has given me this place to live while I work towards getting my GED and hopefully get some kind of job. Right now I have no income, no insurance of any kind, no cellphone or internet of my own. This Monday I start taking classes. I have to make what little funds I have last indefinitely, as I am not getting my hope up on finding a job this year. I still have a personal loan to pay off regularly through my bank for the purpose of establishing a line of credit. and as soon as I can find out where to go for it, I'm getting some kind of food assistance.
Today (yesterday) I was in a good mood so I rode my bike (which is my primary mode of transportation) downtown to the Gay 90's bar on Hennepin avenue and naturally locked my bike up, the only place nearby being across the street from the main entrance. My first look inside the place was a subdued bar so I had a seat and had a drink, inquiring about the place and learning there were in fact several bars spread throughout the place, and starting at ten o clock there is a drag show every Saturday upstairs from the "men's room bar".
So upstairs I went, at just after 9. An impressive stage and seating with tables and chairs surrounding the stage. I looked out the window as I got up the stairs to see my bike still locked up across the street. I got one more drink and sat down for the fabulous show which was quite spectacular and worth making noise and giving a little extra to the Devas on stage. I stayed for a few rounds of performances consisting of a couple of songs each, and I must say they were gorgeous dancers and performers.
After a while which must have been about midnight I decided to call it a night and headed back downstairs to leave. I made my way across the street and found to my unpleasant surprise that my bike was not at all where I had left it. There was a patrolman stationed at the corner and I notified him I needed to report my bike stolen and he directed me around the corner to the precinct station, where I gave my information to the front desk officer. After leaving there I walked home, ten miles on the main bike trail for most of the way wearing shoes that are not meant for walking, as they are the kind with the clips attached to the bottoms. Ten miles approximately, in just a little more than three hours.
My bike was a Surly Long Haul Trucker, dark green color with several accessories, all together worth about 1500 dollars, including when I had the bike fitted for me before I relocated. I was planning on having this bike for a very long time and keeping it in top condition.

Anthrocon
Posted 12 years agoThere is a chance I will be attending this year, as well as possibilities for MFF.
though I don't have a fursuit, I would be bringing three unique outfits: my druid robes, my pirate garb, and my scout uniform, as well as a few other things if I think of them and if I have room left over.
Let me know if you want to meet up or anything like that.

Posted 13 years agoI had an inspired idea after watching a second-rate version of Robin Hood, wherein one of the 'merry men' gets dressed up as The Green Man, a pagan God. I thought this would fit my beliefs like a glove and at the same time be not too difficult to make, since all I would need to make it is plenty of silk/plastic foliage and some green face paint for the exposed areas. I can't promise perfection, and I may end up looking somewhere between the Green Giant and Swamp Thing's north-midwestern cousin.
I've already started collecting supplies and this is also something I might be able to wear at other occasions besides furry cons.
any suggestions or ideas?

Deep thinking
Posted 13 years agoOn the physiology of he soul
Late one day after having stayed up for no less than a full 24 hours I read half of a classic story and then contemplated, reflected on the nature of things. One of these subjects was the art of Zen Archery, along with others whereupon the shape of a subject bay be discerned, which at the time was a dream I had which may have been more than a dream, in which I met a god and was outside myself as it seemed to me a soul displaced no greater distance than reach so that I may at the time demonstrate homage to the one I met then.
These things I learned in my pre-slumber meditations. that the soul has it's own shape which as any fluid assumes the shape of it's container or host but at the same time possesses it's own unique nature and functions. The most immediately perceivable was that while the physical form has eyes and ears and flesh as it's senses, the soul, being not of the physical does not. It does however have other means by which it may interact with it's surroundings. Point in fact the soul has at its disposal is INTUITION as a primary sensory organ. Ethereal in it's relation to the physical universe. Another is DEJAVU but as yet I have only begun to understand this and other forms of awareness.
It seems to me also that the relationship between truth and intuition is respectively the same as the relationship between binocular and monocular sight. Height and width may give the suspicion of position to an object of the eyes, but depth confirms the fact of it's location. Because of this relationship, the second form of perception attributed to this version of the soul is TRUTH.

How's it going?
Posted 13 years agoAs you may be aware, I stopped having internet not long ago. Not much is new here. I'm very close to becomming a Tiger Cub in my Solo-Scout program which is still in developement. I did talk with one person who was apparently a scoutmaster in my town but he was kinda creepy (open carry of a pistol) who is working on the project of dismantling the Badger munitions plant not far from here, or so I've been told. Collecting cans on my bike rides to and from work for cash which I hope to save up a fund to buy myself a new bike, one that is the right size for me and more sutable for commuting. Theres a natural spring about 15 miles from my home where I can ride my bike and pick up between 4 and 6 gallons of the best tasting water I can find (+43° 28′ 59.19″, -89° 55′ 1.94″).
enough.

How it affects me.
Posted 14 years agoA while ago I mentioned my plans for reading out loud the story on the inside cover of one of my most loved albums. Now I don't know if I will get the chance if the dykes in DC have their way.
I will probably still make the videos even if I never cast them, as it is still a beautiful story. here is the relevant previous entry: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/2168120/

Dehydrator notes.
Posted 14 years agoThis past xmas I got myself a 5 tier dehydrator for making camping and survival foods. Here's what I've done with it so far...
Bell Peppers (green, red, orange, and yellow): carefully diced and dried on a piece of crinoline that I cut to fit on one of the trays because the slats in the screen were too big for the pieces.
Spinach: By far the easiest to dry, the leaves are quite resiliant to damage by heat or bruising and still taste quite strong after their dried and crumble easily afterwards.
Asparagus: After experimenting with cooking them first to see how they taste I put the rest in and they came out much thinner than when they went in, much like almost anything. They break like thin noodles when dry.
Broccoli: Not much reduction in size, and since most of it fell to the bottom, next time I'll leave the buds attached to the stalks and just make thin slices instead of diced.
Cherry Tomato: These take the longest to dry and I recommend a special technique.
1. After about half a day the rind will shrink while leaving the skin it's original size, and will have the look and feel of little balloons.
2. peel carefully the skin and either dry seperately or leave it attached to the navel.
3. (optional) run the completely dried remains through a nut grinder to make instant sauce granules.
Eggplant: After much contemplation I decided to try this a number of ways and made some instant discoveries about it. First, it's very spongy on the inside and steaming will only make it absorb most of the water and become like some kind of pie filling material! Raw it has the consistency of day old sliced apple and almost no taste. I'll leave a comment on this once the super thin slices are finished drying.
Carrots: Also not much reduction here and it's almost better to sun dry this after shredding it.
Next on the list will be various fancy lettuce leaves, kiwi fruit slices (with the skin removed), and anything else I can think of. I won't be doing meat as I mentioned in a previous journal entry, I'm vegetarian to a certain degree.

15 beans
Posted 14 years agoI am going to be going mostly vegetarian in less than a month from now and I decided to start learning to cook green so I got a bag of mixed beans to try. Soaked overnight in a big jar and rinsed the next day, into a slow cooker with a can of spaghetti sauce and half a jug of maple syrup, set the cooker on high, then low, and we'll see how things turn out.
Northern, Pinto, large lima, blackeye, Garbanzo, baby lima, Green split pea, kidney, Cranberry, small white, pink, small red, Yellow split pea, Lentil, Navy, White kidney, Black.

Level 3?
Posted 14 years agoAt a local small town second-hand retailer I saw an expedition sized backpack for 20 dollars, with a main compartment you could almost stuff a dead body in if you throw away the head, arms, and legs. The tag said it was only used once so I would only have to ask a few questions to get the details.
Thinking about getting it but still not sure if it's something I need, as I am still playing with my frame pack, and still carrying my butt pack most of the time, which is stuffed to capacity.

Urumi
Posted 14 years agoRecently acquired a busted tape measure and disassembled it for the coil spring at the core. To make it safer to keep laying around until used, I put the partially broken core into an empty cardboard box and jostled it till I heard it explode and unravel itself. Then I recoiled it inside out so it's at a more dormant state. Later when I have more materials available I plan on making a particular style of hand weapon popular in the martial arts of Kaliripayat. The only difference will be in the length, for concealablity, and a little blacksmithing to make the blade (or blades) stay a bit more straight.

nothing scenic or staged, just little things that annoy me concerning my personal objects; books, furniture, my apartment, etc. The kind of material disrespect that makes me not want to have nice things that can be damaged or broken, or not wanting anyone but myself from having access to such objects.
Valuable books with several pages dogeared and left on the floor, ashes and stains on my floor and on my table that I've had almost all my life, rubbish left on the kitchen counter and everywhere, holes in my wall, all little things but all small measures of a general disrespect for my things and reaffirm my need to live alone.
If I had only myself to blame, I would not feel like writing this. I have already gotten rid of a few things just to make room and so I don't need to worry about it.

absent desire (dream?)
Posted 14 years agoShortly before falling asleep for a short time I may have achieved some level of astral projection, or a projection of astral externalism while remaining stationary. Focused on thought and feeling rather than vision, and meditating on the idea of bondage, I imagined placing my hands into a box containing levers which when activated might be able to fit and apply cuffs to each of my wrists. without sight I then turned these levers and felt tape measures close around my wrists tightly at first, then with the mechanical loosening of an automated blood pressure reader, the tape eventually released and the box moved, at which point my eyes reactivated and the session seemed to end even though I attempted to continue the act with eyes open... the vision was not meant to last, and dreaming took over.

Got it on (holiday) sale at the local ski-bike+climbing store. Haven't tested it yet but I did inspect it when I got it home and it looks beautiful. I also have a fuel bottle as mentioned in a previous journal entry, now to get me some o' that Colman camping fuel stuff, which is white-gas.

Posted 14 years agoThe tent is about half done with the seams being sealed. I'm noticing more and more why this was on sale. The stitching is not the best and may at a later date require reenforcing or repair.
Measures.
Posted 14 years agoI'm probably going to need at least 2 more bottles of seam sealant for both my tent and backpack, as I want to make overkill sure that there's no leaks. afterwards I plan on field testing at one of the local state parks or possibly the neighbor's lawn, when I know there's going to be wet weather.
I'm starting with the backpack and brushing on the sealant which has the consistency of spunk. First on the exterior, on all seams I can find including on the straps and pads, and later on the inside wherever I can get to with a ten-cent paintbrush.
The tent will be a little easier as I can sit inside. I also plan on making a waterproof coating over the pole-sleeves where it touches the rain-fly, as well as a few other minor modifications...

Gear, so far. (part 1)
Posted 14 years agoSlowly but surely I am gathering together equipment for my life's ambition. following is a short list of things I have so far for that goal. this will not be a comprehensive list, but the first of many (and similar lists).

Product testing
Posted 14 years agoI thought it was going to rain today so I set up my tent and pack in front of my flat, on the tarp because these things are quite fragile and I don't have a patch of ground to stake it down. Big f*ing mistake. the wind picked it up and dragged it halfway across pavement, even weighted down with rocks, and now my home away from home is ruined until I can find a means of compensating for all the little tears and holes, or replace or repair it completely. I had such hopes for this tent, I got it on sale and it's the perfect size and shape for my needs...
As far as rain, it only drizzled a little and so I'll have to wait for another day to check my pack for leaks.
