Merry Fishmas and a Happy New Plan
General | Posted 2 weeks agoWe are working on it, we are definitely working on it, we are SO working on it very much.
I am much better at drawing straight lines in directions other than horizontally, and I’m making a BIG focus on building stability and control in my hand. I’ve also been drawing some insects to varying degrees of success. My favorites to draw have been lacewings and cockroaches, but that doesn't mean that they aren’t challenging to draw.
On the docket for this month:
1. Aquire a stylus for drawing digitally. (It will help a LOT)
2. Draw more than just insects. (Focus on inanimate and mammals)
3. WATCH/READ MORE MATERIAL TO LEARN GOOD!!!!
Doing a dream diary has been really fun, and I’ll definitely be doing more in the future. I think I'll post the one for this year as a submission on January, and then do further posts every year or half year, just to avoid clogging search feeds.
I have plans for next year, mostly consisting of 2 kinda developed ones. One of these is very difficult, and the other is also difficult, but slightly less so:
1. Posting a drawing every day for the entirety of 2026
Self explanatory. Ever since Silksong released I haven’t been able to waste more than hour of my time writing a YouTube comment on DSN every day. The obvious solution is to fill in that time with some other thing, and methinks drawing will fit into that gap quite nicely.
THIS WOULD BE INCREDIBLY DIFFICULT TO DO, but also very rewarding. It would help to keep me motivated, and I would learn a lot hopefully.
2. START WRITING YOUR IDEAS ONTO PAPER
Every weekday for about a half hour, I’ll lay down in bed and let my mind wander. Not only does the silence help to clear my mind, but it also helps my hyperactive consciousness soup form stories, characters, and ideas. It’s so fun to toy around with ideas when you’re in the middle ground between asleep and awake.
What I really need to do already is just write down these ideas and send them out into the aether. I need to use my writing abilities to write things other than journals. If I start writing stories, that’ll be another outlet to vent my ideas out into the world.
Next journal will be posted on the same day next month. It will have much less text hopefully.

It's my birthday to-day (+ some reflection)
General | Posted a month agoIt's my birthday day. It's my birthday day to-day! (Hoo-ray!)
November 3rd is my birthday day, and now I'm 20 to-day!
I've had quite the eventful weekend moving and building furniture. It was mostly for family, but I'm one bookshelf richer (after a bit of assembly), and I've been making the most of the added space (I'm sure my jumble of books appreciate it). Unfortunately, moving refrigerators and building a book house is a recipe to make my spine hate me, so that hasn't been fun, but overall it's been positive.
In terms of drawing, progress has been slower than I'd like, but I'm progressing nonetheless. I'm thinking of making monthly updates on my learning and doing of art, mostly just for myself so I can stay motivated, and also it's something to do that's more complex than the fish. I might also do a monthly dream diary alongside that, because I've been having dreams more often now than I ever have in my life.
For this month, I'm going to really try and jump out of my comfort zone in terms of drawing things. I keep defaulting to basic shapes, 3D solids, and lines because that's what I'm most comfortable with, but its not really helping me improve in terms of anything other than linework and basic spatial reasoning. I just need to remember that nobody is really watching me or my mistakes, and that no matter how bad anything looks in the moment, it will improve over time.
(Edit: This is relatively small compared to the rest of the stuff but I found a legitimate cart of Drawn to Life (DS) WITH A CASE AND MANUAL. It's a birthday miracle)
That's all I've got on my mind right now honestly, remember to write another one of these on December 3rd and also to keep a dream diary in the meantime.
