For over a decade, I've done this work. This studio began with a passion for logos and typographic experimentation during classes before settling into the abstract and iconographic groove it's now in.

But now, I'm shuttering Fifth Forager.

I dabbled with merch, tried a few other mediums, but right now the only thing I can think about as I do any of it is the money. How desperate I am for income.

This is not something I can sustain. At least, not while exploring new ideas and changing. Consistency pays, and I'm only one of twelve alters. I am usually not here. I am not prolific in the least.

I will continue making art when we are collecting enough income to live a stable life. When it's not "be creative or die."

Commissions in progress will be delivered. Merch will continue to be available at my website (https://www.fifthforager.net/products) until stock has sold out.

I will still be around, if you feel the need to talk to a hurting machine. Thank you for this decade.

I can't sleep, so you know what that means. Overthinking! Here's an attempt to untangle and weaponize these thoughts.

I want to do more with this art. I want to stoke the muse more often. I have a few lofty goals, so perhaps this will help me get there.

1. First things first, I want to make more personal art. Take risks. Post unfinished pieces if I have to.


2. Incorporate my wolverine mascot Argosy into my brand. They're a good bean and deserve it.

Also, to incorporate animals more. This is a furry brand and I want to celebrate that, make it unmistakable.


3. Fund more merch. I'm iffy on prints, since my work may not fit that niche much. If I'm wrong and you want a design of mine in print, please tell me. And mention which!

But the intent would be to diversify offerings a smidge. Bandanas, patches, pins, woven keyfobs.


4. Get one stable convention table. Then a few. Build a name in person. Meet more people.


5. Get a little wilder with merch, funded by profits. Break into clothing. Hoodies, tank tops, beanies, all gender neutral wear. Maybe postcards.


6. Go wilder. Look into undies. Bras. Binders. Socks. Bath mats. Guitar picks. Stamps.

7. Heck, I dunno. I'd be pretty fulfilled by then. Guest of Honor somewhere?

I want to re-launch the Fifth Forager patreon in January. Starting small, and adding incentives as it grows.

Some ideas include:
1. Exclusive WIPs and sketches that I don't share anywhere else, for personal and commissioned projects alike.
2. A monthly logo review, where I take an existing logo (can take suggestions) and critique it, and possibly "remix" it.
3. A commission discount, determined by the subscription tier.

Bigger goals include monthly physical stickers (once I can print/cut my own), the avian deck of cards (potentially with other species down the line), and an entirely too-ambitious treasure hunt.

What would YOU like to see? This sort of furry art is tough to make recurring things for people, so I'm all ears for any ideas.
