Moving on from Fimbulwinter, and posting the novel here
Posted 10 years agoFimbulwinter was a project I started a long time ago when I was young and starry-eyed with the delusions of grandeur most young aspiring authors experience. I grew both mentally and in my skill set in my time with writing Fimbulwinter, and after all these years while it has been an excellent learning experience, I was ultimately disappointed with my own work and it did not live up to the standards that I had set for it. I finished the novel a bit over a year ago and it is has been sitting idly on my computer even since. Any attempts to publish it have been unsuccessful, most likely due to its short length, amateur writing style, and unusual concept. Yet at this stage I have moved well past that onto a project that I aspire to be something far bigger and better than what I could have originally envisioned. While it is always difficult to abandon something that you have worked on for a long time and nurtured as if it were your own child I realize that your first work is often not your last, and all of us go through a long period of development and growth as artists and authors. Anyone who is still watching this account, I would love it if you could watch me on my newest project which I have been hard at work developing for the last two years now on this account
gadgetsteamhoof. For all those who have been waiting, the least I can do is post what I wrote, so that will be going up very soon. It is for the most part self contained but was going to become a series. Because I have no further use for these characters, I would be willing to sell them off (contact me on my new account if you are interested). Thank you all for staying with me for so long and I will hopefully see you on my new account and project at
gadgetsteamhoof I also will not be logging into this account further after I have finished uploading both versions of the story, so it is best to contact me on my new account.

I need help deciding between species for a project
Posted 12 years agoSo I'm currently deciding between three different species design for a project I'm working on, and I'd like some input as to which I should go with.
For the first: I have a catlike species http://img30.imageshack.us/img30/3144/jjda.jpg they have a steampunk aesthetic and all critters in their world are anthropomorphic such as http://sta.sh/0x6rouspzua and
For the second one: http://img707.imageshack.us/img707/1915/hto4.jpg gryphons
The second one is entirely different: http://imageshack.us/a/img191/2469/q0a5.jpg http://img59.imageshack.us/img59/7458/lngn.png http://img571.imageshack.us/img571/4958/x5wc.jpg
The plot doesn't change much depending on what I use, but the society will change accordingly depending on whichever species. I'd like your opinions of which you'd prefer (catlike people, gryphons, or pony like critters) in the comments below.

Would anyone like to rp?
Posted 12 years agoHello everyone, would anyone here like to RP over an IM program like skype? I'm in particular interested in macro roleplaying, add me on skype under the name Zooty.Snowpaw (known as clockwork as well) and post here if you're interested :3
MLP Figure Game
Posted 13 years agoI have created a game that allows people to play a tabletop skirmish game with the My Little Pony standard sized brushable toys (in the same vein as games like Necromunda, warhammer 40k, Warmachine/Hordes, and Infinity). Players choose one of the mane six ponies as their leader and pick a herd of their favourite ponies to battle against an opponent. The game uses a d20 system to determine the success and failure of attacks, and its strategy has a focus on individual pony micromanagement, risk management, and combining the talents of your ponies. All of the pony toys and the majority of the show's cast (including background characters, there are 102 unique characters currently) have a profile card that can be printed out on paper and put inside plastic sleeves and 9 card plastic binder-pages for quick reference and for marking damage (using a texta or marker that wipes off)
The game can be viewed here on my other DA account: http://ponyfiguregame.deviantart.com/ and I'll be uploading them on another FA account: www.furaffinity.net/user/mlpfiguregame

My little Dashie
Posted 14 years agoI don't usually read fanfiction, but thanks to my recent brony obsession I've started and came across this absolutely beautiful story. It is called My Little Dashie, here is a synopsis:
When your life is as dull a gray as the world that surrounds you, the mundanities can make it all seem meaningless. Sometimes all we need is a little color -- or six -- to reintroduce us to what truly makes life worth living.
I highly recommend it to any fan of the show IT ACTUALLY MADE ME CRY because it was so heart wrenching and bittersweet, but so beautiful: http://robcakeran53.deviantart.com/#/d4b27q4 or for an audio version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tESDlYTkzsI

If you don't know why GW deserves a boycott here is a brief summary:
Games workshop is involved in regional price gauging, prices being cheapest in the UK, and being most expensive in New Zealand in Australia, not by just a small markup but DOUBLE of what is paid in the UK. For a long time gamers were able to acquire minis from maelstrom and other sites where they could buy their models at a fair price, but GW realized this and updated their contracts with these sites so they can't ship to us (a trading embargo). In addition to this, they have the nerve to instigate yet another price rise on top of our already extraneous prices by up to $20 per kit. It is ridiculous and their greed is killing the hobby in my country. If you care about warhammer, 40k, or any other wargames please join and let your voice be heard.

About my macro pics
Posted 14 years agoI shoudl mention that apart from having my characters in them macro pics have nothing to do with my book, they are normal sized and the Cynids are ironically bigger than what they are (Zooty's about 5 feet tall and a cultist is about 6 feet tall for example) :P
Myfur.net
Posted 14 years agoHmm maybe they should've named it Furbook, after all facebook > myspace :P
So why don't I get many comments? :o
Posted 14 years agoI seem to get an okay amount of faves on pics but nobody comments on them, it's pretty depressing considering some artists can draw a penis and get more views and faves and comments than I can with a picture someone worked very hard on
hop is so cute D:
Posted 14 years agoI know it's probably going to terrible and the story's been done to death, but Hop is adorable :P http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HExP4izD358
If commenting :3
Posted 14 years agoI know it's sorta furry thing to do, but I would appreciate it if fetishy comments were kept to a minimum liek 'licks his toes', 'I want to hump that foot', etc. nothing against you it's just that non furries will be linked to this site and they'd find it really odd :P
So who here plays starcraft 2?
Posted 14 years agoMy battle.net address is furzone[at]hotmail.com , add me if you want to team up for a game :3
Would posting adult art hurt my book?
Posted 14 years agoI have some piccies that you guys would like but I'm worried that it could hurt the reputation of my book if it were discovered by non furries (there's nothing too explicit but you know how people are)
I dare you to watch this
Posted 14 years agoI have just watched what I believe is the most heart wrenching, most confrontational, and most powerful and moving film ever made. It is an uncompromising documentary about society and its treatment of animals in every respect from pets and food and clothing to scientific research and entertainment, with a powerful message of anti-speciesism and encouragement of a new way of thinking about ourselves and our relationship with them. I believe everyone should watch it, the world would be a much better place if people listened to its message: http://www.unleashed.org.au/features/earthlings/
After sketch commissions
Posted 15 years agoAre there any good reliable artists out there offering sketch commissions for a good price that aren't full? :P
Looking for artists to commission for concepts, designs, etc
Posted 16 years agoWell I'm without an artist partner again and I've decided to not bother with commissioning others for story illustrations and instead am interested with character art and concepts of vehicles, creatures, weapons, etc. Does anyone know of any artists offering commissions right now that can do that sort of thing?
Finally a new journal with lots of updates :P
Posted 16 years agoWow it's been awhile since I posted here isn't it? I think I've been lurking for far too long
Things have been going great, the novel is progressing slowly but surely (now editing the manuscript), and I'm doing pretty well at university and my hobby games (I recently developed a fantacism for warhammer 40k :P)
Especially warhammer 40k, in the just a few months of playing I've accrued over 4000 points worth of chaos space marines and experienced playing with 4 different armies (space marines, tau, Necrons, and finally Chaos) all the while keeping under a $400AU budget by seeking out second hand stuff that's in mostly mint condition. I've played in three tournaments and played regularly at my local hobby store and finished 4th in a doubles, 2nd in a singles, and finally first in another singles just two days ago! (I was so proud :P)
On another note I've also been playing a lot of games, namely Dead Space which though very morbid and without much replay value was a fantastic and frightening experience, probably the only game that made me dread every enemy encounter, Gears of War 2 was great though I have numerous complaints about the lag in the multiplayer and the seriously imbalanced chainsaw and explosives (campaign and story was good but kinda fell flat around the middle for me, turning from an epic war into minor four-men skirmishes), FEAR 2 which though infinitely better than the first and its expansions was still very repetitive because of the very few types of enemies (and I swear your teammates are the worst friends ever! In one spot they get you to go after your friend who's wandered off and a few minutes later say 'oh hey we're gonna take the APC to the island, you can go fight your way through the enemy infested tunnels and meet us there), and Resident Evil 5 has been a really positive experience too, it's not at all frightening but still a great action game with a decent story. Although I'll never understand why they opted for an arcade-esque shop system every time you load a checkpoint or die (essentially you can spend your money on weapons and healing items which magically appear in your inventory from nowhere) instead of the shopkeepers from the fourth game (who were one of my favorite characters), still a good game though
So that's my lengthy update, if anyone cares to read it that is :P

An important announcement
Posted 17 years agoHey guys, a good friend of mine named Safaki on DA is currently raising money for his friend to go to a convention and is offering short length CG animations of people's fursonas. Here is a simple example of his stuff, and he's capable of doing more animations than that: http://safaki.deviantart.com/art/DA.....HZU-D-80162822

Goodbye Honey :(
Posted 17 years agoTragedy struck again today, at 10:30am when Honey, our three month old black rex rabbit was admitted to animal hospital after suffering a mysterious disease of unknown origin. Honey had fallen sick about three weeks ago with irritated eyes and lethargy, a huge change from her vibrant and active behaviour, we had her on medicine for those three weeks but she was doomed from the start. The closest thing we could link the disease to was something called Pasteuralis but we have no idea how she could have contracted it as she lives in a well sheltered hutch we made ourselves that doesn't allow for mosquito intrusion. She detiorated over time and became sicker and sicker, even pussing at the eyes and nose and experiencing symptons of sneezing. Honey was euthanized just minutes ago via anesthesia and fell asleep forever. She will be missed

Ain't this messed up?
Posted 17 years agoI just read a news article today that really made me question what on Earth goes on in the heads of some people, although it's hard to be surprised nowadays. Get this: some "father" ordered his dogs to attack his own son as a form of punishment, the child was hospitalized as a result and the dogs were put down today for following orders. The "father" on the other hand was released from jail on bail. Justice just doesn't seem to exist :|
Just a few things you should know when I commission you :)
Posted 17 years agoSince I find myself typing out the same thing every time I send a commission request to someone, I thought I should list some of the conditions I require from the artists I commission, and what things I need to know
I need examples of each kind of commission, usually I'll ask for sketches
I need to know how much it is per extra character and how many characters come with a sketch (some people I've come across offer a flat price for sketches as long as there aren't too mny characters)
If it's not a personal piece then I need to make sure if it's alright with you if I can use the commission as an illustration in my novel provided I give credit (probably the most important one )
I need to know about your current worklod, like how many commissions you're currently doing, if you have a wait list, and your average work times just so I can get a good idea (I try to avoid artists who take too long since I get anxious easily )
If you have AIM I'll usually say hi and talk with you, and every few days or conversations I'll ask about your progress, however don't stress since if you hven't dne anything I won't press it. However if it's taking much longer than we both anticipated then I'll tell you if I'm becoming concerned.
Finally it's really important I see a draft sketch first as my characters are very stylized, I find that making them too realistic can take away some of their expression. Also it's a good idea if you observe my previous commissions so you have an idea of the bodily proportions I'm after - something between animalistic and humanoid (like big hands and feet, short arms and legs, rather large heads with expressive faces)
I think that's all I can think of at the moment but if there's anything else I'll add it here
