Splatfest doodlings!
Posted 9 years agoSoooo I spent the better part of yesterday playing Splatoon since I heard that next weekend's Splatfest theme is a battle between Pokemon Red and Pokemon Blue versions! I'm a huge Pokemon nerd and I've missed the majority of the splatfests so far. I'm going to try not to miss this one! It's kind of funny because I sort of ragequit Splatoon several months ago after getting into a tragic losing streak that nearly demoted my rank twice, but yesterday I came back to play it and probably spent 5 or 6 hours killing it in ranked. I got my rank back and have almost made it to the next one up! Which is even funnier when you consider that I turned the game on and didn't know which buttons did what anymore. "HOW DO I SQUID???"
Anyway, I did some little arts in the spirit of PokeSplatoon which I don't really want to put in my gallery, but would still like to share!

This second one is my in-game Miiverse Splatfest post that I spent too much time on, only for it to end up getting sucked into a void or something because it hasn't received any attention through Splatoon?! Very unusual, and frustrating if a random server issue cheated me out of having my drawing displayed in-game somehow! I Exist Again!

Today I was wondering if I had a Furaffinity account, was pretty sure I did, but couldn't be sure that memory was real or not. I did only post a select few things before apparently tiring of posting art to multiple websites. Submission forms do take up precious MINUTES of time. But I feel like I never properly gave FurAffinity a chance. Maybe I could make some new friends here or something! I haven't had much luck socially on tumblr or even deviantART, but then again I've been pretty bad at maintaining a noticeable level of activity anywhere. I'm like the leaf that sometimes rustles but all the other leaves are rustling anyway so that one leaf rustling every now and then isn't a big deal. Or something??
Maybe I'll quickly introduce myself though?!
Hi, I'm Firequill. I have a fluffy birb feathersona. I'm an animator currently employed in motion capture full time which is mainly why I don't get to be very active online, but I try. In bursts. Regularly would be better, but bursts is something.
I've been drawing with the intention of Getting Better since I was about 13 or so, but always scribbled and doodled things my whole life before then. I'm 26 now! One of these days I'd like to maybe make a comic or do some more indie game design or even just get a gosh-darn book published that relates to my art! Or I'd just generally like more time to spend on art things. I dunno. It's hard to balance Real Life Job and and things that I consider too personally important to just be called 'hobbies'.
I love sci-fi and fantasy art! And animal art! And animals. They're great.
And now I already feel like I'm losing my train of thought so maybe I'll cut this journal short and finish off with my typical sentiments that I totally intend to be more active and Do Stuff while having secret concern that I'll accidentally fall off the face of the planet again.

Hello! I exist!
Posted 14 years agoThat I do! I've been aware of FurAffinity's existence for quite some time now and have popped in every now and then to look at art stuff, but I only decided to create an account a few days ago! So hello!
Maybe I'll write some introductory types of things for the sake of it. Yes. I suppose I've drawn loads of dragons over the course of my life and generally have stuck to fantasy art, but I'd like to move into the 'humanoid anatomy' territory since if I want to be a serious artist, I should really learn how to draw people. So I'd like to draw more people and anthros! Anthros are nice since I don't have to draw people faces, which I'm not very good at yet!
I'm thinking of getting an education in animation, both 2D and 3D so I can do something art-related for a living! Though I also would like to make some extra income doing commissions! Yay, and so on!
Also, I like video games and learning to do new things, and am friendly but shyyyyy and a bit socially awkward/quiet, though more so in real life than online. Also more so around strangers. Despite that, I do like to try to make other people feel happy! Though I can be difficult to get to know because I don't usually talk a lot about myself...! o_O
