MCFC 2017, Updates, fursuits, Job-updates, BBQ stuff
General | Posted 8 years agoMCFC 2017, Updates, fursuits, Job-updates, rant, BBQ stuff
- Been a busy last 4 ~ 5 weeks, trying to catch up, (after the nearly a month down & very sick with acute bronchitis on top of Mononucleosis) that set me behind quite a bit. As i mentioned in a past journal i plan to take a bit of a break form commissioned suits and try a couple pre-mades, and still have those plans, but i still have a few people on the que-list who i promised suits for which i will still do. (including a tiger, a dragon, a wolf, etc.)
- On the agenda in a week is MotorCityFurCon 2017! Who is going & will see there?
MCFC has been my favorite mid-sized con for more the last half decade, (which included the previous FCN) because of so many factors, an awesome hotel, awesome location, lots of amenities, awesome staff, awesome friends, and just awesome everything about MCFC. (ever since FCN 2009) This year will be a number of new SSC suits there, including the debut of WolfMasters new suit, Sozan Ryker's new V3 suit, my Nick Wilde cosplay suit, and first MCFC for G-Wolf's new suit. We may do the SSC group photo after the parade outside near the patio gazebo (as in past years if weather is good) or may arrange a different time & location if others wish to. We also still need to arrange photographers, (i will have my camera with us and if we can arrange someone to use that & take photos will work too. Also at MCFC this year i am DJ'ing the opener set on Saturday night, (after FoxAmoore & Peppers' show in the main ballroom. For anyone who likes 80's retro music remixed, you need to be there at 11:30 on Saturday! - at the end of the set, i may have Nick Wilde do his version of a Try Everything remix to end off the set!
Was also thinking of having a bit of a room-meet (with pizza) on Thursday night, and doing a dinner outing on Friday evening to either Chili's or at OnTheBorder restaurants. We plan on arriving on Thursday in the afternoon and will be there until Monday morning.
- As mentioned before recently, i heard through the grapevine the place i work may be sold to a US company later in the spring, (and likely closing) meaning i would loose the contract-type industrial mechanic job with very flexible hours, benefits, etc. As i talked about in the past i been wanting to go to fursuit building full time, but always never made that final leap to do so. ( been more worried i guess with loosing my benefit package from work, and being able to increase fursuit work to make up the difference. If i have to change jobs, it would likely have to be full-time, meaning the fursuit stuff would become more of a hobby thing, but i prefer to be building suits & costumes than the other stuff. decisions decisions decisions... i may need suggestions here on this.
- Also i am hoping this weather gets better, so i can plan weekend BBQ meets again. Will likely plan a big Spring-opener BBQ couple weeks after MCFC near the end of April if weather is good open to invites! :)
- April will mark 17 years since I discovered the Furry Fandom. I seen a lot of changes in those years, and since then how much it has grown. It has been a big part of my life for all of those years, and will never regret it. :) especially with the hundreds (if not thousands) of friends I have gained since those early years. Most still are even from the start, (but like everyone we loose a few) but the number gained far out weights the ones lost. Among the very first people I met in the Fandom, including Wookiee, Shadowspawn, Babytiger, Prplhaze, potoroo, lionus, and many, many others who I still chat with and know right from the start, & so many more I have gotten to know & happy I Met.
- As mentioned also before, my new Nick Wilde cosplay suit is my second suit to replace to soon to be sold Zeke Hyena. I will be giving Zeke a full cleaning, re-airbrushing, all repairs & refurbishing, (some new paw pads, the jaw upgraded and adjusted to work better, and adding a muzzle fan. He will be auctioned off sometime in May, which will include the full Zeke suit, and his leather & chain harness. He will also come with a head drier. I know there has been a lot of interest in the past for Zeke, and here is your chance to get him and give him a new home. Zeke needs someone to wear hm at cons & breath some new life into his character, so for those interested in Zeke save up now for the auction to come later in May. ( likely late may.
- For any SSC suiters going to MCFC in a week, we plan on doing the group photo again this year at teh Gazebo after the parade, (between 1:30 ~ 2:00 PM) Were still looking for phtographers and somone to use my camera to do photos if possible, ( as one had to drop out)
- More updates soon.

UPDATES: Feb,19,2017 - Recovering, fursuit stuff, Zeke, etc
General | Posted 9 years ago- now that i am finally feeling better and recovering from the mess i been down with over the last 3 - 4 weeks, i can finally try to get back on my feet. It started a week or two after New years with what i thought was a cold, then i got an inner ear infection. Then the cough started, that ended up being full-blown Acute Bronchitis. So with meds for that the bronchitis began to clear up, but then i still felt like crap and a fever started to come on at nights. It just got worse from there on. fevers got worse, i began to lose weight, aches all over, the ear infection didn't stop, felt like absolute crap for 2 - 3 weeks, and after being admitted to hospital last weekend i went through some tests. added with a low white bloodcell count, a swollen spleen, fevers, aches, weakness, they said i had mononucleosis. (glandular fever infection) so i ended up on steroidal meds, and finally now over the last few days i feel better.
-It all set me back though as the last few weeks i have not been able to do much work or concentrate on getting things done, so i fell behind even further. As mentioned in a past recent journal i may focus on some pre-made fursuits and not accept any new commissions until further notice, as i find commissions haven been very stressful to deal with some people, causing me to lose interest in doing them. ( and when i lose interest in a commission, i lose creativity, which becomes less enjoyable then overall. I have a number of commissions i am currently working on and a few in the current list that will still get in for a commission, but after that we will have to see.
- in other news, back in the fall I had thought about planning on attending FurnalEquinox this year, and waited a bit to late to apply for a dealers table, and all the spaces filled up. Also had hoped to get a slot to DJ there as that would have given me some interest to attend this year, (but that was supposedly to late too) then added with being sick and falling behind i have to pass on it this year sadly. I have to much things to get done & caught up with so I am focusing on MotorCityFurCon a few weeks after.
- Also i have mentioned before about Zeke my Hyena fursuit & character that i thought about auctioning him off. I am planning on re-furbishing the entire suit, including new feet bottoms, re-airbrushing all the spots on the suit, all repairs to any worm parts, new paws pads, a full cleaning from ears to feet, and soem upgrades including a head fan & maybe LED eyes.
I feel its time thst ZXeke needs a new home and someone to take the character and make him active again. I know many have expressed interest in acquiring Zeke, so if you still are let me know and i can add you to a mail list for when he goes up for auction. The auction will include the full suit, his leather Celtic harness, badges, a head drier, and the character.
- As mentioned too in a past journal i have a large lot of fur i am selling, which now included 4 bags of foam chips tail stuffing, and several boxes of ends, off cuts, pieces, etc. in the lot. I will sell the entire lot for 75 bucks. its literally a car load of fur & supplies, a but to much to ship so its best if its a local pick up.

News,updates, & changes. - Feb,04,2017
General | Posted 9 years agoThis i have been contemplating for some time, and this morning i may have decided on that i will not be temporarily taking or accepting any new fursuit commissions or applications starting as of today, and may focus on doing a few -re-made suits only. as the demand and stress of commissions, are upsetting me to much, added with this year not getting of to a good start as i hoped, (family deaths, work stress, family stress, then add the stress of people demanding suit commissions, its become a bit to much to handle at this time.
Its been near impossible to keep up with, even though my turn-around from start to finish of a suit for a full suit is quicker than many, being behind a few months and cant get caught up is frustrating as it is, then added with others getting frustrated or upset with me because they can't get a slot at certain times or contacting them or opening a slot for them until a couple months later, added to the high demand of people wanting a suit that i just can't take on with my current work load, all adds to my decision to close accepting commissions at this time. I will finish the current ones on list along with the few waiting for parts and stuff, but after that it may be done for commissions. I may just focus on pre-made suits for awhile.
A new set of updated Fursuit Application forms with some new options is being worked on, ( with new rules and TOS, & some added options) but if i close commission-suits these will be only for any open auctions or for the current few on the list i will still finish.
Sometimes i feel some people can be really selfish as people think i am a machine and expect me to take on their commissions no matter what. When i'm forced to rush, i loose interest in doing it. meaning i don't enjoy working on that commission or suit,
This syndrome applies to any Artist, if an artist is pushed or rushed, they lose interest or no longer enjoys a certain piece the creativity & inspiration is gone.
This may be either temporary or permanent. See how it goes after i get the current commissions on my current list done.

a large lot of fur fabric for sale.
General | Posted 9 years agoI been doing some re-arranging and found that i am ruining out of storage space, so i am selling off a car-load of random pieced of fur fabric material as a single lot. Below is a list and sizes of what is in this lot:
-1.5 Yards Short Black, (fun fur)
-3 Yards Short Tan /beige.
-1/2 Yard long pile bright red, (CR Crafts fun fur style hair fur)
-4 Yards of short soft, tawny tan, (lion color) swede-back. ( swede can be removed/peeled off in needed)
-1.5 yards of long-pile mongolian (Buffalo Brown monster-type fur.)
- 2.2 Yards of DF Promo Shag/luxury punky muppet-type Black.
- 1.2 yards of DF Promo Shag/luxury punky muppet-type Lime Green. (has pattern on back, but fur side is smooth*)
- 2 yards of medium pile, soft burgundy white tipped fur. ( burgundt/dark-red base hairs, white tips.)
-Also included a few 15" x 15" x 17" boxes of of various small fur ends, off-cuts, scraps, etc. (most between 5x5" to 12x12" average)
this is way to much fur to ship sadly as its a large lot, ( enough to fill a large trunk & the back seat of a car) and would be best for local fursuit builders & crafters looking for some random furs. (located in Ontario just north of Toronto) its shippable but woudl cost a lot especially to the US or international.
PM me for photos price and more details.

No matter how much we try, we can't make everyone happy..
General | Posted 9 years agoOK this is a journal in response to another i was linked to by friends who had read the BS.
Going back to the subject above,
- No matter how much artists and fursuit makers try, we can Never, ever make everyone happy or completely satisfied.
NOBODY in the human race is perfect, & we are not machines, or huge multi-billion dollar corporations with unlimited work force or manpower, tools, or even the super-human skills to be perfect... But there are always those few who expect perfection, and if they do not receive exact perfection, then they go completely negative and try their best to slander, hate, troll, & demoralize us as much as they can by gaining as much attention as they can, with lies, exaggeration, over-proportioned bull-shit to try to make themselves feel better, look better, and try to put as much of the blame and hate they can on the artist or builder, and try as much as they can to make others "feel sorry" for them to force otehrs to spread negative drama on us to butter them up...
I know every builder ( and artist for that matter) has had the same moments, bad customers, and been hit with their fair share of hate & slander from those couple bad customers that do the same to them, but its sad that its crazy similar in almost every case i have seen over the 18 +years i have been in this fandom, and i hear from other builders i talk to often.
98 % of all my past fursuit commission customers know i strive to build a suit with the best possible quality, craftsmanship, care and love i put into each & every suit i build, as most of every suit i build even from the first are still in use and enjoyed for the last 8 + years. But its sad when i read a journal that is posted with a bunch of exaggerated, negative slander and lies about problems on a recent head commission during this past year that do NOT exist is crazy. I was even accused that i used an "old head base"! which is absolutely retarded to even think that! and reading the rest of the accusations which i KNOW are lies, exaggerated, and only intended for one thing to slander me, especially knowing this past commissioner was taunted on to do that by someone else who is a friend of the person-in-question, in the past who hates be because i disagreed how that other person treated others.
both past commissioners who know me in person well, and the hundreds of friends who know me for years KNOW how honest i am with building suits, and KNOW how much care and love i have put into building suits for the last 8 years, and will always do so. But like the media, the furry fandom consists of a few who don't give a damn' about the good things people do, they only care about the negative things & drama.
and yes i did read the replies to that journal, and notice many of the replies are from those who still either hold a grudge or hate me because either they got denied a commission from me, or i disliked their attitude in the past, or they are known trolls of negative drama, or those who think i am a damn machine and have to respond within a few minutes of their message to me & got upset because i could not reply in a week or two.
- this journal is just posted in my defense to the lies and exaggerated propaganda posted in that journal by the person in question. (which i will not name here or anywhere.) its just to answer those who may be wondering about the person in question.
What makes it even worse, is i have spoken to the person to try to work out the issues, and thought we had already talked it out, as i did offer to fix what ever concerns this person had, but the distance of the location of the person made it more difficult to do right away. (we do not have star Trek transporters yet on our planet, and 9000 miles do not make it easy to close that gap. but suddenly now i have been blocked by this person, then slandered with lies, hate, and words to try to slander me for problems that do NOT exist.
IF there are those who have read this person's journal and believe all that bullshit & accusations, then so be it. I am not going to try to change your thoughts. What some of the repliers don;t think about when they poke their nose and their 2-cents worth in a negative journal to add their own negativity, karma usually bites them back in time. news travels fast in the furry community, especially bad drama, hate or negative things really get around quickly and only makes those who support the bad drama as bad as they are.
Nobody on this planet is perfect, and to expect me to be perfect, or to think they themselves are perfect, then they have deeper issues themselves that need to be fixed.
- Sincerely FS6

**** CanFurence 2016 !!! ****
General | Posted 9 years agoOk, - so who is attending CanFurence 2016 in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada next month in Novewmber, 2016? (link here: >> http://www.canfurence.ca )
CanFurence 2016 will be held in Ottawa, at the ALT Hotel Ottawa, ( http://www.althotels.com/en/ottawa/ ) on November 11th to the 13th 2016.
I will be attending, for many reasons. First i am staff at CanFurence, working with Symbayo to push to get Canfurence off to a great start for Fursuiters. We will be having many fursuit related events at CanFurence, including Fursuit Games, a well maintained Fursuit Lounge, a Fursuit Parade and a Fursuit group photo.
Also at CanFurence i will have a full Dealer Table in the Dealers room. I have planned to have a bunch of new items at the SSC dealers table at the con, including the hard-to-get Fursuit balaclavas. Also will have many new Verson-2 of the new light weight SSC fursuit head driers available. Some brand new items will be available at CF, including SSC custom fursuit Backpacks, and a return of the once popular limited edition SSC fursuit neck badge/wallets, but this time available in 9 different colors.
At the SSC table we will have other items including SSC t-shirts, some fursuit parts & accessories, Fursuit travel repair kits, fursuit brushes, antibacterial spray, care products, other items, and possibly some silent-auctions of various items.
And if your lucky... You may get to meet Nick Wilde at Canfurence's first convention of all goes well.
See you there if your attending! :)
EDITED, Oct,23,2016:
- So i have lots of Fursuit Balacalavas, head driers, along with a selection of the new Stormfire Studios fursuit back packs, and will have the new SSC Neck-wallet/conbadge holders arrive in a few days, and this time in 12 different colors! along with SSC T-shirts, and possibly SSC hoodies & baseball hats if they arrive in time for CF 2016. I may even have some left over items from Camp Feral including a few tactical custom flashlights & some "special" items up for silent auction, so Make sure you stop by my Dealer table asap if you want any of the new swag!

Twitter AD accounts..
General | Posted 9 years agoI closed my old twitter AD account. Even though it was locked, there were way to many creepers, stalkers, people i didn't know who they were, ghost-twitter account followers, etc. there, and would take way to long to screen them all. So its closed.
If/when i decide to open a new AD eventually, it will be much more controlled on who i allow to follow it. a new ADtwitter will be only for close friends, people i know well & trust, and those i am comfortable with following such an account with AD or NSFW fursuit photos, as i will likely post some new better AD fursuit stuff there too, along with Adult versions of my past artworks that are 18+ works.

FA. your weird.
General | Posted 9 years agoFA, stop giving me weird errors, removing my watches, and causing me boobie pimples. I think FA needs a brain transplant, or some antibiotics to clear up the viruses and bacteria.
Fall updates/plans
General | Posted 9 years agoSince its now into September ( but the weather still feels like july :P) its into the early fall time of the year. As mentioned in the past journals i have had some setbacks over the summer and fell behind on fursuit stuff, and other things needed to be done around the home.
Right now the two last cons "planned" for the rest of this year are Canfurence in Ottawa on November 11th to 13th, and MidwestFurfest on December 1st to 4th.
The next convention on the list is not until Spring 2017 for MotorCityFurCon in April. in between those there are a few planned weekend meets, fall BBQs, etc. As for the yearly SSC NewYears event, it has been on my mind to cancel that this year. As this invite-only event has become very big, (34 + attendees) and being at my house, last year was very difficult on me as it took so much work, preparations, & cost to get ready for.
The only way i will host it again as a full NYE event like those is if i had dedicated help. So far there is not any hints from those who helped before on this.. so its likely what i will do is just have a few friends over who wish to spend New years with me for a few drinks, etc. then that's it. (for those who were attended last year contact me via note or telegram if you wish to chat about it.
- onto fursuit work, i am working to finish up a full yellow wolf, and a head commission atm, and working with the next few commissioners on the list to get their commissions running. There are two on the list however who have not confirmed or responded yet, meaning there may be a slim chance i just may have a slot open if the next few on the waiting list are not ready, See how that goes.

SSC Fursuit Calendar :)
General | Posted 9 years ago
G-Wolf_Fursuit is working on the idea of creating a StormfireStudiosCostumes Fursuit Calendar. :) He is requesting all SSC suiters who wish to be on the calendar, to send him the best photos you have of your suit. (also check with me to see if i have photos of your suit on file too.) >> Go to his journal here for more information: >> http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/7796128/
Getting back on track, ~ New stuff.
General | Posted 9 years ago-Regardless of the BS of last weeks downers, (read my previous journal) I am going to try to put this past hectic, delayed summer behind me now. Even though i really enjoyed my trip down east to Nova Scotia the the awesome NA meet that AceHusky organized, to my 2 and half week trip to my homeland in Newfoundland, and enjoyed the trip to Camp Feral as always, (except the day after) the rest of the summer was slow, delayed, and full of work set backs. (along with being the hottest summer on record for a billion years.
- I am still having some down days dealing with family headaches and issues (i will probably always have those as long as i stay here near them) and a ton of depressing moments & bad news over the last few days, including the loss of a couple friends over someones irresponsibility, added with some disheartening news of other things, along with the thoughts of pulling up anchor and moving back east which is still on my mind depending on how the next 6 -7 months go, i will force myself to try to get back on my feet to get caught up on fursuit work and other things needed to be done.
- the new suit for Wolfgang was debuted at Camp Feral, and working on finishing a head commission and the new full suit for G-Wolf. Also beginning to do the preliminary details for the next couple full suits on the long waiting list, including a body commission, feet commission, and others.
- In other thoughts, i am putting out a question here of what you think i should to with the fursuits, as in other designs & styles, Meaning i know most people who commission me like my standard style, ( along with the dozens of inquiries if i am open for commissions nearly every week) know many must like the standard classic style i currently do.
As i did with Dancing Duke, the toony corgi, Rocket raccoon, etc. i am not confined to just the one style. Should i do some generic full suits of different styles to just auction off, in order to expand and show that i can offer more. Also open to other suggestions too.

-Updates/news/good & bad.
General | Posted 9 years agoi realized i have not posted much here in a long time.
Mostly due to a screwed-up summer of setbacks, family issues, work loads, etc. Today in particular was hell. literally hell. Between dealing with crap at the other job with the heat there, management issues, etc. then to family issues, then to overload pressure & worries of falling behind on fursuit work, then to having annoying dramatic people throwing their bullshit into my fan at random, and other things being on my mind for some time, topped with with the pain of extreme loneliness brought on by the loss of my dog Rudy & just before that being dumped by my ex mate Garth... i have really hit a low tonight. i don't know if i should just finish up my current works and walk away, or try to pick up the pieces & move on, or go about my life as it is and try to continue to make others as happy as i can regardless of the pain i get hit with from time to time.
- At least i had a wonderful time at Camp Feral this past weekend with friends i cherish, and if i can i will type a report soon, and post some photos & stuff here.
but right now tonight i am broken, frustrated, sad, lonely, and with a mind full of thoughts of not knowing where to turn or the direction i should go. Right now i feel that all future cons, events, meets, etc i need to put on hold until i decide a path, either i take a long break to clear my mind or make decisions of a new direction in life. I have been really thinking a lot lately of pulling up anchor and moving back to Newfoundland, and do not know if that is the right thing to do or not, as its a one way trip if i do. its days like these when i need a shoulder to lean on, someone to hug, someone to talk to, and always happens when there is nobody.
