I've Moved! - UnterBark
Posted 6 years agoYikes! It's been a while, huh?
Okay, so if anybody's still following me, I'm back here on FA, following the big Tumblr migration - but now I'm going by UnterBark now.
So, yeah, come on over and check out my latest work (BTW I'm a digital artist now and my art has gotten WAY better): https://www.furaffinity.net/user/unterbark/
Good to be back, my furry friends!

Holiday/New Year Greetings for 2013
Posted 11 years agoMan, I haven't updated this in a while. Goddess, I miss the Internet (and am frustrated with FA crashing).
Anywho, Hope everybody had a great Christmas/holiday break! Gave/received some neat stuff, and we had a nice get-together at Grandma's. Currently enjoying the shnikes out of some bedroom slippers and new sneakers my mom gave me XD
I would've watched "Rocky IV" for Boxing Day, but I've been too preoccupied watching Season 2 of "The Simpsons" and "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" (Extended Edition), along with playing "Red Dead Redemption on my bro-in-law's X-Box 360. Hopefully, all those won't distract me from getting some pre-January 2014 artwork started.
2013 was on the borderline fence of sucking for me and my family, but hopefully 2014 (twice the lucky number, mind you) will be way better, both financially and creatively.
In case, you don't hear from me in a little while (once again), Happy New Year, and I'll see you in January (hopefully)!

Halloween 2013
Posted 12 years agoHalloween greetings, one and all! Oh, why must it only come once a year?
Be safe with any one of your little ones trick-or-treating. Enjoy some pizza and some schlocky movies. Go out and kill some monsters, whatever's good for you on All Hallows' Eve.
Eat, drink, and be spooky!

Commission Info
Posted 12 years agoHere's some information/rules and prices (with examples!), just in case you're curious!
- Please send a note to me on what you want, along with any other information that's useful/necessary (character references, details, etc.).
- PayPal only. It's just easy and reliable for me. I'd also prefer to be paid prior to the commission's completion.
- Quacklad and Tyrra and/or anything "Quacktown"-related are off limits. I've got no plans to cut the cord on my little creator-owned comic project baby anytime soon.
- Be patient; I work and have a life, along with an ongoing webcomic that gets updated every other weekday and/or weekend. I will do my best to get them done on time.
- NOTHING DIRTY! I'm willing to draw pinups and cheesecake with tasteful nudity, but if it's anything too extreme, can't do it, sorry.
- For anyone who wants a pinup/cheesecake-related commission, my anthro pinup wolf lady, Lucy Lupa, is up for grabs if anybody wants a commission featuring her.
Black-&-White Lineart (No Special Effects/ No BG)- $5
- Example
Full-Colored Lineart (No Special Effects/No BG OR Simple Colored BG)- $7
- Example
Full-Colored (Special Effects/Simple BG)- $10

EEEEEEHHHHHH...
Posted 12 years agoWHAT'S UP, DOCCC...?!! - Bugs fuckin' Bunny
Hey, everybody. Yeah, I know it's been quite some time since I've formally checked in, let you guys know I'm active and all.
First things first, here's what happened in my neck of the woods within the past month or so:
(. My nephew, Liam Charles Leary, was born on April 30th. He's chubby, healthy, and the full-on little bundle of joy to both of his parents.
(. I've been working at the local library as a page/shelver for almost 2 months now (my co-workers are friendly and it's not far away from my house; it's a great job and I'm thankful to have it).
(. Due to the library job, I've been reading a lot of books. Mostly whatever can be checked or some sweet donated ones I get to keep. I've also been spending more time with my family: helping out Mom around the house, hanging out with my bro-in-law, taking care of Liam, etc.
Since I'm being honest about my lack of usual activity, here's another but major reason: about a few weeks ago, I had been in a depressive funk, wondering if I still want to pursue being a cartoonist. Every so often, this happens and it's emotionally crippling.
I know it seemed like I had been in high spirits, what with my nephew growing up happy/healthy, spending time with my family, and me enjoying my job at the library- an optimistic attitude is a great mask, but there have been nights where I sat at the drafting table for an hour with no progress made, then just lie awake in bed wondering, "Why has the one thing that's made me happy for the longest time seemed to have lost its splendor?"
Maybe it's some form of ADHD that wandered away from when I had it as a kid then worked its way back into my adulthood. It's not an art block as I've got ideas, but yet there's a lack of focus into putting them on paper. Whatever it is, I can't settle like before, as if all time and motivation to create gets muddled. Even more so, I had been toying with the idea of pulling the plug on "Quacktown".
For anyone who's new, "Quacktown" is my webcomic that I created/draw and write. It's about a duck and his dog who work as freelance paranormal investigators in a city full of supernatural activity. I had been posting through Blogger, but since January, it's been on hiatus as I got burned out and wanted to continue through a different site. As the funk was going on, I began to wonder as I lacked a broad fan-base/audience, and it seemed like all that work was for nothing. In a nutshell, I felt like I had failed with a pet project that had been in the works since college. On top of that, I felt like I had failed as an artist, years of practicing and learning wasted, along with time and money. It even seemed like I let everybody who followed and supported through the years down (and that was the worst feeling of all).
Looking back at that week and those previous weeks, I realize now that I haven't failed: I got burned out and didn't know if I could come back like before. I think it was Elbert Hubbard who once said, "There is no failure except in no longer trying," or rather Elvis Presley who said something like, "When things go wrong, don't go with them."
My mom, sister, and bro-in-law, along with a fellow artist friend of mine gave me sound advice and pep talks that helped me put things back in prospective. So, why do I continue the pursuit of cartooning? I dunno. Maybe because I'm good at it, I like doing it, it's good for me, and even if it takes me a lifetime, I want to make a successful career out of it one day and be remembered for doing so. A simple enough answer is because I love it.
Well, I'm not giving up. There may be a time where I'll find myself in a funk, but like before, it passes and I'm back to usual "Scooterlicious" self again. Anybody remember that part in "Hook" where Robin Williams remembers his past as Peter Pan, then takes off flying into the sky? That's how I've been feeling as of late now.
As for the status of "Quacktown", rest assured: the project is NOT dead. I'd like to repost the old strips through Tumblr, then start a new ongoing storyline that will intertwine with three old strips (which may or may not be rewritten/redrawn to better accommodate my change in style/techniques). A Facebook page for it may even show up soon.
I've been wanting to get some fan-art (ponies, movies, TV shows, cartoons, gift-art for cool people, etc.- whatevah, I do what I want!) and more pinups made (just sexy artwork in general). Speaking of "sexy artwork", I had also thought about making an "ask" Tumblr comic blog with my anthro she-wolf bombshell character, Lucy Lupa. Sound good?
Right now, I'm working on a commission for my pal, "Ric-M" on deviantART. I don't wanna give too much away on what it is, but here's a hint: things that go "bump" in the night.
More new artwork shall appear, along with Quacklad and Tyrra making their return- or my name isn't Travis "Scooter" Taylor!

And Red Skelton as Father Time
Posted 12 years agoWell, Christmas has passed and the Mayan Apocalypse didn't happen (lousy Aztec-wannabes). Hope everybody's holiday went safe and awesomely.
I got some cool swag this holly, jolly holiday. I got "American Splendor" and "Monty Python's The Meaning of Life" on DVD, a tiki idol wax warmer (with an eggnog-scented wax bar), an art/design book for "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey", a buttload of "The Simpsons" action figures, an action figure of the Stranger from "The Big Lebowski", some candy/toiletries, and a T-shirt of Animal of the Muppets with the caption, "Party Animal" on it.
Commissions will be delayed for now since the Internet is down at my place and we're in the process of finding a new place. But again, if anybody's interested in wanting one, I'll keep four slots open (I recently finished one for "Ric-M" on deviantART) and here's a link for the commission prices on dA: http://twtducktective.deviantart.co.....2012-343215342
Hope everybody has a Happy New Year! I'll be sure to post one last "Quacktown" for this year before it's over!

Holiday Commissions! 2012
Posted 12 years agoYeesh, it's been forever since I've updated this journal. Hmm, in a nutshell, here's what has happened in the last half of the month: Thanksgiving was good, I've rediscovered my love for reading, my sister and bro-in-law are expecting (they'll know the baby's gender tomorrow), I'm stoked for "The Hobbit" movies, we're looking for a new place to live (our landlord's all sorts of bitchness), and I broke out of an art funk-type of blues. Oh, and I got a haircut and regrew my beard into a bigger soul patch.
Anyway, it's that holly, jolly time of the year again, and I've decided to start taking commissions to help with bills and last-minute Christmas shopping.

I know, and nothing personal, don't care; this if for people who want one/can pay. If that's the case, then kindly spread the word to those interested 'cause I'd like to get some done PRONTO.

Halloween Greetings 2012
Posted 13 years agoIt's the most spookiest time of the year, guys- and now it's here! Some of us may be too old to trick-or-treat, but at least then you can scare some kids and hand out candy for a change.
Earlier tonight, I treated everybody with pizza from Pizza Hut (when I went out to pick up the pizzas, two of the cashier girls were dressed as a witch and what can only be described as a "hot dog fairy"). I dressed up as a lich-type creature in a black cloak, complete with scary-as-heck mask with a hook hand and a gnarled clawed hand, then scared the bejeebus out of some unsuspecting trick-or-treaters that came up to get some candy (mostly bags of Skittles, butterscotch hard candy, Starbursts, and some Halloween-themed pencils). Our friends came by with their son and he was dressed like Iron Man (next year, he says he's going to be Michael Myers of "Halloween"-fame). The cutest trick-or-treater we got was, hands down, a little Mexican girl dressed as Smurfette.
After it died down, I came in and we enjoyed some pizza, then watched "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown". Right now, we're just chilling and enjoying some scary movies. There's a whole slew of the Universal Monster movies coming on later, so all and all, it's been a pretty badass Halloween so far (much better than last year and I couldn't finish my week at Scarowinds, due to getting the flu/pink eye).
Carpe noctem, guys; enjoy this "Quacktown" Halloween strip, I whipped up for the occasion: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/9153112/
Happy Halloween, everybody! Eat, drink, and be spooky! Take care and stay safe, East Coast!
Earlier tonight, I treated everybody with pizza from Pizza Hut (when I went out to pick up the pizzas, two of the cashier girls were dressed as a witch and what can only be described as a "hot dog fairy"). Bored. What's New, FA?
Posted 13 years agoTaking a break from dA 'cause it's starting to loose its fizz, and I haven's gotten to creating a Tumblr account yet.
So, I haven't been here in a while (boy, that's an understatement). How's every little thing? Seen any good movies lately? Anything interesting happening in your neck of the woods?

Excelsior! Heroes Con 2012 Aftermath
Posted 13 years agoBest Heroes Con EVER. My pet-sitting job paid very graciously, so I finally had a better budget to go on yesterday. I went with my big sister and bro-in-law, and we spent the first half of traveling to Charlotte chatting about nostalgic pop culture moments. Right as we walked in, I got a photo made with some guy cosplaying as an awesome Deadpool. There were also a LOT of kids either cosplaying as Finn or Fionna from "Adventure Time", and girls cosplaying as Black Widow from "The Avengers" (I snapped a shot of a smokin' hot one while we were in line to meet Stan Lee BTW).
Because the fan demand of Stan Lee, it was CROWDED (totally worth the wait, though). You could either get your photo taken with Stan or get an autograph. Autographs are one thing, but a photo with the living legend himself? That's what we settled on. After the line FINALLY zipped by, it was my turn. I kept what I wanted to say to Stan short and simple, and he was just the nicest guy. I told him that it was an honor and pleasure to meet him at last, that he's been a major influence on me as a comic writer, and that he was great in "Mallrats"- that latter statement made him chuckle. After I told him thanks, he said, "No problem, have fun and take care, buddy!" After we picked up our photos, it was pretty overwhelming; to meet Stan "The Man" Lee and get a photo with him was an extreme high point in my life.
There was a bit of a crowd for the QuickDraw contest, too. It wasn't so bad, though, because on the way there, these cute girls with Red Bull outfits and backpacks were giving out complimentary Red Bulls and keychains. They ran out of seats, so I just sat against a wall and pulled out my art box. We had 20 minutes to draw ANYTHING we wanted and I ended up doing a drawing of two spur-of-the-blue-frick-moment characters that I wanna recycle now: the Human Ectoplasm and Frank the Toast (stop laughing; I couldn't think of anything else). We would've heard the results, but we went ahead in got in line to meet Stan Lee (again, extreme high point in my life). We had to give our phone numbers and e-mail addresses to them, so maybe something will come out. Whatever, though, it was fun, either way.
This year, I buckled down at long last and brought a small portfolio of some of my best works from both 2011 and 2012 (mostly "Quacktown"-related pieces and at least three fanart drawings). I showed it to Dusty Higgins, the artist/co-creator of "Pinocchio, Vampire Slayer"- he complemented me on having a unique style and to keep it up. Mike Mignola, the creator of "Hellboy", signed my copy of "Hellboy: Wake the Devil" and after looking at some of the "Quacktown" pieces, he said, "A duck and a dog who fight monsters? Cool!" Since I got an issue of "Beasts of Burden" signed by the writer/co-creator, Evan Dorkin, last year, I brought it back with me and got Jill Thompson, the artist/co-creator, to sign it as well (Mr. Dorkin had drawn a little golem and Miss Thompson drew a little doodle of Ace the husky, my favorite character from the series). I mentioned that Ace was an influence on Tyrra, and after I showed her the filler strip where Tyrra was singing "Flesh 'N Blood", she told me that Tyrra was cute- that made me smile.
Got some cool swag that day as well. I got a few comic TPBs: "Jingle Belle: Grounded/Top Cow Holiday Special", "Hack/Slash, Vol. 3: Friday the 31st", and "The Walking Dead, Vol. 1: Days Gone Bye", not to mention "Watchmen" at long last, all for great deals. I also got a Hellboy movie action figure (with Ivan the corpse) and a Kenner Boba Fett action figure. Oh, and I bought a sword. It's a black-&-white steel katana (now I need to get or make a nice sword rack to display it on). Other than those goodies, I finally bought some original artwork from some awesome artists: I bought a print of a cartoon evolution of Darkwing Duck by James Silvani, a drawing of Rainbow Dash as a Sailor Scout by Amy Mebberson (she really liked my Rainbow Dash/TMNT Tank piece BTW), and a print of Scrooge McDuck with Donald Duck, Huey, Dewey & Louie, Gladstone Gander, and Gyro Gearloose as characters from "The Lord of the Rings" by the great Don Rosa (gonna get all three of those framed hopefully soon). And it all ended with each of us getting snapshots with the Carolina Ghostbusters' Ecto-1 outside the building.
I'll post the photos in a little collage here either later tonight or early tomorrow (I'm still sore all over from walking).
Needless to say, guys, but going to such a fan event has reinvigorated me to get back on board with comics. I was feeling burned out, but now I'm insanely inspired and ready to get some artwork done!
For whoever I owe a request to, don't worry; I'm gonna get those done, too!

HEY, HEY, HEY THERE, FA...
Posted 13 years agoSTAY OUTTA MAH SHED...!
MAN, it has been quite a while since I've updated. Yeah...sorry about. To be honest, I forget I have an account here sometimes. Nothing personal, mind you- just been busy with life (and I have a shitty memory).
Not much to say that's been going on in the neck of my woods:
(. I've been busy job-hunting and working on launching "Quacktown" (Friday the 13th of this month, just if you're curious). Finally got the hang of Blogger, thanks to my pal, Holly.
(. We moved into a new (very nice) house. A month after that, I turned 25 (got the "Dead Duck" graphic novel and "The Adventures of Baron Munchausen" on DVD, and a new watch).
(. After years of battling the habit, I've decided to paint my nails black in order to stop my severe nailbiting (don't laugh- it's a manly color). Shoot, if I have the guff to walk into McDonald's and actually buy a Pinkie Pie figurine from the recent "My Little Pony: FiM" Happy Meal promo and a large iced tea, you know I'll try anything!
(. Upon watching "The Muppets", I am currently on a Jim Henson bender, watching as many Muppet movies I can find, old footage/specials, and old episodes of one of the best TV shows of all time, "The Storyteller". A LOT of nostalgic inspiration coming out of it, so that's a plus.
- that's about it. Again, sorry for the lack of updates, and be sure to check out new artwork soon. Considering the loose censors on this site, I'm...very tempted to draw some dirty pictures.

Eat, Drink, & Be Merry, Damnit!
Posted 13 years agoMAN, it's been a while since my last journal.
Okay, so anywho- it's the holiday season at last and I'm still Internet-less (been having to go to the library to update and what-not). Other than that, everything seems hunky-dory, aside from having to go out and get a few last-minute presents for respective loved ones.
Gift-art shall be made and posted to my homies, even if it kills me. Not sure why it's taken me so long to get started- you'd think watching "Rudolph" for the 57th-billionth time would get some creative juices flowing. Not much motivation if there's little or no way to get the artwork posted, I guess.
Oh, well, until otherwise, have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Here's to hoping that 2012 will be a "fun" year.

SAMHAIN GREETINGS 2011
Posted 14 years agoHi, everybody- sorry I haven't checked in quicker than expected.
Just suffering from flu-like symptoms and pink eye, plus we're having some computer issues in my neck of the woods. So...I guess until I get better AND get the Internet back at my place, I'm gonna take a break for a while.
Good thing, too, 'cause I just wanna enjoy Halloween for the first time in 2 years. Finally got "Pee-Wee's Big Adventure" and "Army of Darkness", and I shall enjoy them.
Take it easy, everybody! I'll be back...whenever.
HAPPY HALLOWEEN, EVERYBODY!

May the Friendship Be With You...
Posted 14 years agoDid the "Star Wars" nod at the end of Part 2 of "The Return of Harmony" on MLP: FiM make anyone else smile? The nerfherding fanboy in me even squealed at the closing circle wipe- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k4wh4FnwiAg

YOU ARE TEARING US APART, DISCORD!
Posted 14 years agoCheerilee: "This creature is called a draconequis. He has the head of a pony and a body of all sorts of other things. What do you suppose that represents?"
Applebloom: "That tha show's character designers were really baked tha night before?"
Sweetie Belle: "That the writers wanted John de Lancie to voice an even WEIRDER Mister Mxyzptlk-type character?"
Scootaloo: "That...his mom had a very active social life?"
*Cheerilee smacks all three of the CMCs upside their little heads*
I finished rewatching Part 1 of the MLP: FiM, Season 2 premiere. So far, cool story, funny moments with our pony gals (Pinkie and the chocolate rain, AJ's twitchy liar face, not to mention Rarity going all Gollum over a "diamond"- or as she called it, a "DIE-A-MOND!"), and a mind-wrenching cliffhanger ending- plus, Discord's a likable bad guy with a quirky design. Dudes and dudettes, seriously, it's killing me to know what's gonna happen next Saturday.
Hmmm...24 year-old nerdy man-child worrying for the sake of friendship within a group of cartoon ponies...Jesus, where's my life going? Oh, well.
Also, I just found out Discord's voiced by the same guy who played Q on "Star Trek: TNG" (John de Lancie). That's pretty weird and funny considering that both characters are mischievous and omnipotent- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9P9RdSeQKqY & http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0qxyGtatKdA

It's-a me, Scooter!
Posted 14 years agoHi, everybody- I figured that I'd finally bite the bullet and start an account here. Most of my friends online are here, so why not?
Some of you may know me as "TWTDucktective" on deviantART- http://twtducktective.deviantart.com/
I'm still there if anybody wants to see my other artwork and most recent stuff, original projects and what-not. I'll probably end up posting most of my anthro-based pieces, especially the pinups.
One important thing, I definitely want to start doing commission work soon, both through here and DA, but I'm such a noob at it. If anyone's got some advice or tips on how I should get started, I'd be very grateful.
So, I guess that's all until I get this profile fully up and going. Great to finally bust my FA cherry and hope everything goes swimmingly here.
