Well... That Didn't Work
General | Posted 9 years agoI don't think anything I do, or any hoop I jump through, is going to get me a FaceBook page with "Jade Fox" as a name. LOL FB is pretty stuck on using real names and I don't want to. So, I will now be skipping FB as a social media platform.
For those of you out there that use Instagram and Twitter I have questions. For example, it is worth having both? Can I post images to Twitter? I was reading over the site and it looks like I can. Is Instagram just Twitter for filtering photos? LOL It sure seems that way. Should I chose one over the other or just have both?
I ask because I want a faster and easier way to post sketches and quick things that I jot down without the 12 steps of FA upload stuff. For example, before it was locked out, I was uploading photos of the sketches I was doing for MFF furs that got a sketch from me; things I just don't post to FA.
Anywho, all of your feedback is greatly appreciated.
Thanks ^_^

MFF Sketches and Social Media Sites
General | Posted 9 years agoHey Everyone.
Whew... I finally got caught up at work and I am finally able to relax at home this weekend.
I have my drink, I have my sketch board, I have my art stuffs. Lets rock and roll.
MFF Sketches to Finish:
Gid (DONE - Email Soon)
Cargo Weasel
Titus & Aspen
Aaron
Tazcat
Panda
Doobie
Makkus & Kelby
Also, I got to speak with someone at MFF (who shall remain nameless because I am not sure if he would want the shout out) about getting back into furry and what I should do. He gave me lots of good ideas that I have had time to ponder and I think I am going forward with some of them.
The first of these is making a Facebook account using my fursona. If you are on FB and are okay with having babyfur and little fur stuff pop up in your feed, feel free to find me. My FB name is "Jade FurryFox".
I will be using FB to post sketches and other "not final art" as I finish them, MNFurs stuff that comes up sometimes, general stuff that I am doing. You know, FaceBook stuff.
I think I will be doing other stuff in 2017, social media wise. I will keep you all posted.
Laters Everyone!!

Home Again: MFF 2016 Thank You List
General | Posted 9 years agoWhy did I ever stop going to MFF? I had forgotten how much of a blast that con is. Even with the thousands of furs running around, making my "I-hate-crowds" feelings kick into overdrive. Worth it.
Huge thanks to Panda, Makkus & Kelby, Radix & Lokai, Toya, Gauge & Stage, Swiffer & Bigfops, and Cyan, for putting up with me as I followed you around the con.
Another round of thanks goes out to Rama, Syn, Kotanu, Blithe, Taz, Kyne, LittleTiger, Dodge, Rolf, Tanalis, Doobie, Kota, Skippy, Pike, K.B., Talv, Alex, Chee, Pepper, Maru, Allegretto, Kiba, Bedtime, Buckley, Cargo Weasel, Charlie, Matmew, Titus & Aspen, Gid, Aaron, and so, so many more, for coming up and saying "hello" and/or getting a sketch from me and/or inviting me to a room party and feeding me booze. (I am sorry if I forgot anyone, I am trying to do these lists from memory.)
Thank you for all the ideas that you have now put into my head as well. I will be implementing some of them in the coming weeks and months. I have a lot of work and a lot thinking to do; getting myself back into the fandom and all that jazz.
I can't wait for MFF 2017!
*hugs*

My MFF 2016 Q&A Thingie
General | Posted 9 years agoWhere are you staying?
The Hyatt, on a floor, in a room.
How long are you going stay?
Checking in on Thursday; Checking out on Monday
Means of transportation?
Carpooling with a friend.
Sharing a room with:
Furson 1 and Furson 2
How old are you?
Old Old Old. Certified Gray Muzzle old.
Where will you be most of the time during the day?
Thursday I will arrive around 2pm and I will just be wandering the con halls.
Friday and Saturday I will try to be in the Artists Alley while it's open.
Sunday I will be roaming the halls and visiting and stuffs.
Will you be doing any commissions?
Yes... sort of. I will be doing sketches only. Either in your sketch book, or on paper I will provide.
You mentioned a raffle in your last post?
I will be selling raffle tickets while I am in artist alley. They will be $1.00 a ticket. The winner will be chosen on Sunday and announced here on FA.
I will also contact that person at the con. The winner will receive a full commission from me.
What suit will you have?
My "Jade" suit is in the process of being finished as I write this. With luck, it will be delivered to me at the con.
Can I touch you?
That depends. I like handshakes, bro hugs, high-fives, and fist bumps. :P
Can I talk to you?
Absolutely! I am a social butterfly in person. Just be warned, I tend to flit between conversations.
If I am in the process of drawing a picture I will try my best to talk and draw at the same time but I make no promises.
Can I hug you?
As stated above: I like handshakes, bro hugs, high-fives, and fist bumps. :P
Can I buy you lots of drinks?
LOL. I love this question. Yes and No. If you are kind enough to offer me a drink I am kind enough to accept.
However, I am now old enough that I don't enjoy being sloshed. If I refuse it is probably because I am drunk enough at that moment.
Do you drink Alcohol/Smoke?
I love beer and bourbon and gin and port and... booze in general. So yes, I drink. I quit smoking in September; no smoke for me.
Can I give you lots of money?
Yes. Yes you can. Wait... do I have to do anything for it?
Can we hang out?
One-on-one probably not, but with others (dinner, room party, etc.) yes. My goal is to visit with people this year. There are lots of artists going that I want to fanboi on. So when I am not pestering them you are more than welcome to pester me.
How can I find you at the con?
Artist Alley. I will try to be in there on Friday and Saturday from open to close. If you didn't find me in there you will have to just be lucky you bump into me.
Can we go out for a dinner?
I doubt I will leave the hotel. I usually get food at the restaurant in the hotel or in con suite.
Are you buying art?
That depends on what I see. I have already purchased a new Marci badge. If I see something in the art show that catches my eye I might get it.
What do I have to watch out for, when I am meeting you?
I am friendly but I am not much of a hugger. Don't take offense if I only offer a handshake or fist bump.
Will you tell me your room-number and can I surprise visit you?
Nope. I am sharing a room with furs who staff for the con and doubtless don't want other furs knocking and throwing them off their sleep.

My MFF 2016 Plans!
General | Posted 9 years agoHey Everyone.
As mentioned in my last journal, I am going to MFF 2016 in Chicago. However, unlike years past, this time around I MOSTLY want to visit with fellow furs and babyfurs. I want to eat some good food and drink some good beer while shooting the breeze and enjoying a relaxing weekend. If that sounds fun to you, find me at the con.
I will also be running around the con in my suit (pics to come), which is on the cusp of being completed by Jacek
of Sushinomsuits. If you are running around looking for me, and I am in suit, I will probably be the fox wearing the white Minnesota Wild jersey with "51" on the back.
ALSO, I will be in the artist alley on Friday and Saturday (if I get in). I do enjoy being in there and talking with fellow artists. I am looking forward to just being able to draw for a while during the morning and early afternoon. I WILL ONLY BE ACCEPTING SKETCHBOOKS if you are looking for something from me. Sketchbooks will be $20 starting and $10 for each character added.
I will NOT be drawing con badges. I still owe two gift con badges and I am not going to take more badges until I get those gifts done.
I will also be doing something fun... at least, I think it could be fun. For those that are attending MFF, you can stop by the alley and buy a raffle ticket from me for $1. The winner of the raffle (which will be chosen after MFF and announced here on FA), will win a commission from me. Not a YCH, but a full on commission.
I think that is everything. If you have questions, please ask in the comments.
See you in Chicago!

MFF 2016! Woo!
General | Posted 9 years agoHey Everyone
After a far too long break, I am going back to MFF. My suit should be done by then so I intend to spend most of my time running around. However, I will try to be in the Artist Alley for at least one day; perhaps two (Friday & Saturday). I will be drawing in sketchbooks for sure, I am not sure about drawing badges.
For those of you who are going, is there anything you would like me to bring? I already have plans on bringing a slew of my older artwork that I am going to sell off for cheap (I need to make room in my house). I am already bringing a tasty bottle of booze to share.
If you are going to MFF this year please stop in the Alley and say "Hi". Im a bit of a social butterfly in real life.
See you there ^_^

Thank you to everyone who entered. Congrats go out to Littletickets for being lucky enough to win something. LOL. The comment made by Littletickets on the raffle was very ironic; "Woo, I nevet win these things, but hey, can't win if you don't try." Too true, too true.

Holy Schnitzel, Time to Thank You All. Plus Ask Me Anything!
General | Posted 9 years agoFirst off. I want to thank everyone for the kind words since I have been back to being active in the community. Posts, shouts, comments. They are all very welcome. I apologize that I have not replied back to every comment on the recent sketches and picture. I have read them all (multiple times actually), and I am super duper appreciative. Thank you everyone. *hugs you all*
As you are all probably aware, I have been posting YCH Auctions; completing them one at a time. The prices on these has been... shocking! Trust me, I am f***ing blown away by this. I wish I could be coherent in expressing my appreciation. As a thank you to everyone who has not had a chance to get in on the "action" (so to speak), I will be posting something special this Monday, May 30th. Keep an eye out.
Okay, now that all of that rambling is out of the way. Ask Me Anything! Art help and critique? Will do. What is my favorite food? Cheese. What is my quest? What color is the sky in my world? Ask and you shall know. Mostly. I do ask that we keep it at least PG-13.
Thanks again everyone.

A Slight Delay (Because I Am Crazy Sick)
General | Posted 9 years agoI am a smoker that keeps trying, and failing, to quit. In my recent bout of trying to quit I got super sick. Fluid in the lungs, infection of the lungs, flu, coughing, stuffed up, phlegm, all the fun shit that goes with being a moron who has smoked for twenty years.
I seem to make it eight or ten months then fall off the wagon and pick up a cigarette and smoke for six or eight months. It is a very annoying process.
Long story short. I am behind in my YCH and other art related things here. I am just getting back into it again after a month of feeling like hell. I am sorry for those that are waiting for the next YCH to be posted. I am almost done with coloring my last YCH and will post it as soon as I finish.
Sorry for the delay, everyone.

Art I Have Held For People (I Need Your Help)
General | Posted 10 years agoHey Everyone
I am in the process of doing some spring cleaning around my house and I came across a box of old babyfur art. I have been holding onto artwork that, for one reason or another, the person who commissioned it could not have it mailed to them. So here they sit; in envelopes and everything.
However, now I cannot seem to find contact information for these people because some of these drawings go back to 2003. Also, some of them seem to have disabled their FA accounts. So I am asking for all of your help. If you know anyone on the list below can you let them know to contact me? I would like to get them their art. And clean my house out a bit too.
The List: (with links to my archive)

The Next Auction Will...
General | Posted 10 years ago... be posted on or around Saturday, March 12th.
This is because I will be going out of state this Sunday; I have to go visit family. I don't want to post, and complete, the auction process only to have the winner wait for me to get back to my drawing desk (where my art supplies live) before I can finish their picture.
The next auction will be for YCH #4, which can be previewed here: http://www.furaffinity.net/full/18983683/
A larger version of that small preview will be posted when the auction starts.
Thanks everyone. ^_^

Answering Recent Questions:
General | Posted 10 years agoSince coming back into the furry fold I have been getting some great questions via PM. I have answered them, but I figured I would answer them again, here, for everyone to read. If you care at all.
"Where Have You Been? (i.e. Why you no arts for two-years)"
The short answer; I have been busy. The long answer is more complicated and two-fold. The first fold is that I am a full time working media artist. I work a 9 to 5 at a studio being creative and making video motion graphics animations. When I get done at work I really don't have the ambition to do more art for other people (sic. bosses and clients). I have been drawing for myself and exploring some other stuff for the past few years. I have never stopped drawing furs and babyfurs in my sketch books, I have just not posted them again until recently. The second fold is that I got fed up with clients (the furs who order commissions). I had too many difficult ones that I didn't understand. Nit-picking things that were part of my style (they way I draw eyes for example), asking me to draw it more like some other artist draws; stuff like that. So, I quit taking commissions and stepped away.
"Why Can I See Other Sketches (Ghosted) On Your Sketch Posts? (YCH and Others)
My sketchbook is not precious to me in the least. It is only a means to an end. So, I draw on both sides of the page. I also draw in blue line pencil and I press very hard. So, when I scan my sketchbook pages you can see the ghosted image of the sketch on the other side of the page. This is also why my sketch book pages sometimes have black marks on them; tables are dirty and I don't protect my sketch book pages. I scan, then resize the sketch, and print it out so I can then light box the sketch onto good paper for inking.
"Are Your Old Pictures Still Online?"
Yes. But, like my standard furry stuff. I have not kept it up to date. I will be fixing that soon. You can see my entire archive at https://www.furaffinity.net/user/jadearchive
"Are You Going To Be Taking Standard Commissions?"
Nope. Right now I have no desire to do the standard commission thing. See the answer I gave to the first question.
"Will You Take Badge Commissions?"
Nope... well, maybe? I want to go to MFF (Midwest Fur Fest) again. I need to go to FM (Furry Migration - seeing as it is in my home city of Minneapolis). I think I have a cool idea for doing a weird hybrid standard / YCH badge thing. Long story short; if I go to a con I will do badges, if I don't go to a con, I won't do badges.
"Why Are You Only Doing YCH Auctions?"
The YCH auctions that I am currently doing are the product of a full sketchbook and wanting to make a few bucks. I won't lie. I am flabbergasted at the prices, but I am in pretty hardcore need of a new computer and, after seeing other artists do it, I thought I would dip my toe back into the water a bit and take a few.
"Why Are You A Stickler For $5 Increments When Bidding On A YCH Auction?"
I don't like the idea of being outbid before even having a chance to throw my money into the ring. I have seen auctions start at $10 and by the time I get my bid prepped (money into my paypal and all that) the bid was jumped to $100. I never even had a chance. While I still thought about bidding that high, I decided to forget it. I don't want to get into a bidding war that starts that high. I would rather be in the thick of it. Also, it is a rule I want followed because I like rules when I am in adult mode. Little Jade is a brat. Big Jade was in the military and wants rules followed.
Have I missed anything? Anything else that you are burning to know? Or perhaps just lukewarm to know? Feel free to ask them int he comments and I will answer them as soon as I can.
Thanks Everyone

Jade ^_^
Let's Try This!
General | Posted 10 years agoHey Everyone.
Long time, no see. I have been around. Lurking. Waiting. Watching. But now I think I am ready to do some artwork again; albeit on a very limited basis. I am going to try this "Your Character Here" idea. Everyone gave me some very good feedback a few months ago on a journal (now deleted because I am cleaning up the clutter) and I think I will move forward with a few of them; just to try things out.
How will this work? you might be asking. Well, I am going to post a YCH sketch here. I will start the bidding in the first comment of that post at a rate i deem. It will usually start very low. I am aware that it could get nuts, but I don't expect it to. I will then finish the picture for the winner then, and only then, will I post a new YCH auction.
I think that is the jist of it. If I am forgetting something, comment below.
Thanks Everyone!

If a refund is decided upon, all work on the artwork (commission) on my end will cease, and the picture may be offered as a YCH auction at a later date.
Payments made to me for a commission are placed into a separate savings account and not spent until you, the commissioner, have received your commission (artwork) in the mail. That means, I always have your money and will issue a refund as soon as the money transfers from that account to my PayPal, and then to you.
All canceled commissions will be subject to a 10% fee to cover the PayPal service fees I paid when you, the commissioner, originally ordered the commission. Refunds will be issued as "gift" on PayPay so you, the commissioner, don't incur an additional service fee from PayPal.

End of an Era?
General | Posted 11 years agoI think everyone has seen this coming for a long time now. I have just been avoiding it. I am done with doing commission work. I don't get my work done in a timely manner and it is the people who have paid me money that suffer. So, I am just not going to accept paid (commissions via email) work any longer.
As of right now I still plan on doing badges at MFF while I sit in the artist alley.
I still owe two great people artwork (which will get done) and I will post that here when I get it finished. I will probably also post artwork that I get finished from time to time.
Thank you everyone who has watched me over the years.
I will still be around, but for the most part, consider this my retirement.
