What are Alladons? ;;SPECIES SHEET;;
Posted 10 years agoSo... what are alladons?This is going to be a long explination so... strap down and grab that popcorn!WHAT~Alladons are a species created by me when I was 9 years old- which eventually evolved into my sona-species. But I recently released them as a request and adopt species- so now you can have your own alladon! (Only if you ask me first, so I can monitor who has one, what colours they're using, and I keep rare breeds/colours rare ;)).
If you've recently adopted one of my chicks, or you've made you're own character, then this might appeal to you- those little buggers can be a handful!
Here's Flamey's hand-guide to keeping Alladons!OVERVIEW;;;
They're anatomically similar to panthers and other big-cat species. These are not lumbering beasts- these are relatively small, stocky, ruthless predators. They consist of a long reptilian body, lockable jaws carrying a 4,000 psi bite force, a rather short build, short yet wide wings, horns and a head crest (on some species) <7inch killing claws on each foot and over 800kg of hungry muscle. They stand an average of 6ft at the shoulder- but can range from 5-7ft- and are usually around 16ft in length (in furdons- darkdons are usually shorter at 12ft, while elites can be any length between the two.)
Furdons and Elites have feathered wings- reaching a wingspan of 19ft- while darkdones boast membraned wings at a span of around 16ft.
Darkdons and Elites males also boast a dazzling set of canines (called tusks once they reach sexual maturity).
While not difficult for an alladon to see that a keeper is caring for it, natural instincts will drive your animal into things you may not understand or like. This is just part of keeping an alladon... so make sure your fridge is locked shut!
These are intelligent animals that will live the easiest life they can find...
BODIES AND BREEDING
Alladons (bar the furdon), pride themselves on their muscles. The stronger the animal, the higher chance it has of mating. Fighting can be brutal- in males and females. So when it is not the mating season, alladons will confront eachother by crouching down low, spreading out their arms and tensing their muscles- generally engaging in a screaming match also [hear sound here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DZc62IAucCc]. Sometimes, an aerial display will take place where the pair will either joust at eachother with their killing claws- the most evasive winning over the lesser- or continue to spread out their arms. If neither back down then a fight will generally incur, but will not usually result in serious injury. Due to their size, pushing and grappling is usually enough to win in a fight- but when it comes to the mating season... the game changes.
Males will fight to the death over the rights to mate. Often taking the quickest way to end the opponents life. There's no pushing and shoving in these brawls... Males will usually drive their 30+cm long tusks directly into the opponents jugular, stomach, or sometimes even castrate them all together. Killing claws will always be used if they can gain an advantage, with the opponent receiving devastating slashes from both talons and retractable claws- usually aimed at the stomach or chest. If an opponent recieves a fatal blow, he will be left to die a most painful death as the successor parades around the area to find a 'victory spot'.
Victory Spots are generally near the most elder of dominant, breeding males- who have first pick of the seasoned females without fighting (unless challenged by a contender for a specific female). These can sometimes be tree stumps to raise them from the crowd. A bloodied male will always attract a female.
In all alladon breeds (atleast in the mating season), the females choose the males.
>Females will only come into heat every 4 years during the springtime.
>Clutches of up to 6 eggs are laid, yet only 2-4 usually hatch. 1/4 of which will survive to adult hood.
>If a chick is born defective- it'll be exiled or killed. If it is born an unusual colour- or with too much red/blue, it will be pushed aside and will grow into the Omega rank- eventually dying of malnutrition in later life.
>Chicks with a higher gold/white-to-red/blue ration's are favoured over any of the other chicks, and will often grow into a higher rank.
FURDONS {Furred Alladons}The rarest of alladon breeds, furdon's name is actually rather misleading. A furdon is an extremely slender alladon that naturally resides in grasslands. They carry unusually large ears in an exchange for horn size and are covered by a coat of long feathers that run down their back (commonly dubbed a cloak- correctly known as a coat.) These feathers have no apparent reason other than to blend them into their grassy habitat.[/center]
BEHAVIOUR-
Furdons are the gentlest, smartest and most curious of alladon breeds. While most alladons are smart enough to learn and understand some language, the decreased aggression in furdons leave them more time to figure out a solution as a pose to flat-out attack or threat dance. These are far more likely to become a companion than any other alladon due to their curiosity and desire to be mentally stimulated.
They are a family breed, and live in close-nit family communities.
This can however lead to a very challenging time for their keeper. Furdons are not lazy like darkdons or elites. They need constant attention from their keepers- just like a child- even into their adult life. Adopting a furdon is similar to adopting a child- with the intelligence of an adult all the way through it's life.
COLOURS-
Furdons- unlike elites or darkdons- tend to be rather dull, natural colours. Shades of grey, brown, yellow, gold- anything *except green*. Black and white bases are rare colours in furdons, but have been known.
DIET-
They will eat anything they can digest- including the leather on your sofa! This can be taught out of of course, but the teenage-I'm-always'hungry stage can be very difficult to handle. As a whole, they're generally carnivores.
DARKDONS {Dark Alladons}Subtly named for their dark blue skin and active time, darkdons are an illusive, shy, nervous breed that thrives in cold, forest environments. These alladons are almost identical to elite alladons in body shape and structure- if a little shorter in the tail. However they boast enormous ram-like horns and a reinforced neck and skull to resist injury during jousting. Darkdons also do not possess a single feather on their body, and have membraned wings (which is why they are commonly mistaken for normal dragons).
>Darkdons and elites do NOT generally coexist well, as they come from overlapping environments and have evolved to fight eachother for food and hunting territory.
BEHAVIOUR-
While shy to new places, and nervous around the unknown, darkdons can be rather headfirst when it comes to thinking. Born to fight, they do not fear engaging in battle unless with an elite.
In the home they can make excellent companions, and can be surprisingly nimble and gentle. However the home environment will not cater well for a darkdon, and they must be outside for much of the day. These animals can be generally quite curious- and seem to be the only alladon to hold a treasuring instinct. (Don't show it where your tin-foil is...).
These are generally solitary animals, but can and will imprint on a keeper or other alladon and will happily follow they around all day.
COLOURS-
Darkdons can only be a shade of blue with white markings (sometimes holding a secondary white/blue colour. This can be anything from ice blue to the deepest shade of the ocean. Some males will have a red stripe running down their killing claw. This breed suffers with dangerous colour genes- with black danger and white danger genes commonly appearing in the young. Unfortunately, it is the instinct of the animals to exile the black- the healthier- chicks and to retain the white chicks (due to their 'attachment colour' being white (in elites it's gold))- who will almost certainly have genetic defectiveness.
DIET-
Darkdons are omnivores, but generally carnivorous.
ELITES {Elite Alladons}Elite alladons are by far the most common of alladons. Generally the largest of the breeds- and definitely the most successful, elites will dominate mountainous terrain and feast on forest animals from near-by for most of the year- until the migration, where they will feast on the migrating mammoths. Working in packs, elites are a highly social breed that communicate with clicks, roars and hisses- but some *if taught* can learn and speak language as their second tongue. These magnificent animals can even out compete the dragon species in their territories. Having evolved in a war between elites, themselves and mountainous wyverns, elites evolved flame proof wings- which they can use to shield themselves from short bursts of fire.
BEHAVIOUR-
Elites can be one of the most affectionate or one of the deadliest breeds of alladon. Depending on their upbringing, their exposure to keepers, their social life and their genetics, elites can become very switchy at times. However they're generally rather laid back and will only really become aggressive when something is deemed a threat to them or their pack- or they become hungry.
Elites can be seen as naughty. They, like furdons, require around the clock mental stimulation otherwise it will seek to find ways of getting your attention. Whether this be setting traps, dragging carcasses across your new rug, hiding your keys- anything. It's often advised to either keep them in pairs or keep them at your side at all times.
This is an energetic breed that has the capability of brining down mammoths, you must find a way of exerting that energy and tiring out those twitchy jaw muscles.
COLOURS-
Elites are always a shade of red with secondary gold- sometimes with darker red stripes. This can be pink-dark maroon and almost-white to olive-yellow. The brighter the markings, the higher up the ladder of respect the elite is- any additional golden markings ontop of that are higher.
This species does have dangerous colours- however these are rare and results from cross-breeding at some point in their lineage with darkdons.
DIET-
Elites are strict carnivores.
;;Additional Notes to help you with your alladon;;
> They're all curious, tenacious little buggers when they want to be.
> Females of all species only come into season every 4 years.
> Gestation is around 8 months, plus 3 months incubating.
> The albino gene has only been seen in one alladon (My furdon sona <3)
> Always remember to exercise your alladon and take it on long flights around it's natural habitat to keep it in touch with it's instincts.
> Alladons act very similarly to border collies, cats and african greys when in the house.
> Alladons can very easily be taught to live as a bipedal in a house environment, but they will always require you to care for them (they're lazy). Now that you've had your crash course in alladons- enjoy you're new child! Don't have one? Why not! Elites are being adopted off *at the moment* for £3, furdons and darkdons are also available!
If you wish to make your own alladon character, comment/note me and I can talk you through what you can and can't have (furdons are the exception to this rule and can only be obtained through adoption)! We'd love to see more alladons running around out there! Right Flame? *nod nod*
