So, decided to do the meme first. Guess it's time for an update on life. It's been almost to a year since my life has turned upside down. Things have changed a lot in the last year, that's for sure. I've been at my clinic for nearly a year now and well, I have to say things are a lot better. I mean, it's not heaven but it's decent. Least most of the damage my previous clinic did to me has been fixed. I have to thank one particular vet for it. Enough about work though. Guess I'll go back to talking about my "life in general"
So, just a few more days of work and I'm off on vacation with Cruger! Finally, a much needed vacation. Despite work finally looking up and new tech on board, I was doubtful that they'd actually give this to me. Then I found out that they gave to me. Then I found out that 8 other people wanted the same week off. Even better is that I found out that the schedule team got some angry emails. Gee, I wonder from who? Meh, looks like I'm the only tech on vacation for that time. Least it means I won't be getting desperate calls from work.
Onto the vacation. So, it's off to RMFC for us. It was decided sometime last year that Rainfurrest was going to be off the list. I mean heck, after a course of back stabbing by various "Friends", being yelled at and harassed by a certain couple, yeah, not cool. So, time to move on and have fun elsewhere. That and we saw the sights of Seattle, so I think we're good. I'm looking forward to the vacation. It's about time I enjoy myself after busting my ass at work. After RMFC, it's off to Vegas. I can't wait to see the sights there and lots of pictures. After that, it's to Pasadena. I keep wanting to call up an old old friend, but it might not happen. The same goes for RMFC. But, who knows

Posted 13 years agoAlright, awhile ago I made a post about 10 things Husbands/sig others should never do. I decided to be fair to pull up the 10 things Wives should never do. Let's just say, poor poor Cruger and what he has to put up with...well, Happy Birthday Hun!
Ladies, we love you with most of our hearts (c'mon, we have to leave space for NASCAR, fishing and barbecue), but there are times when you make us want to grab our camping gear and hike across the frozen tundra of Siberia for just a few moments of peace and quiet. Want to know what sets us off?
1. We don't expect certificates of achievement when we do the dishes, but if we are in the midst of sudsy water and dishpan hands, don't stand over us and give us "helpful hints" about the way we "should" be doing it. If you're so insistent about the dishes being done the "right" way, we might just let you finish the job, for now and ever more. Meh, whatever works. He probably does dishes better than I do
2. Sometimes when we come in from work, we're tired, hungry, and need a little bit of time to relax in a safe environment. What we don't need is to be bombarded by all the things that need to be done to the house, around the house, and under the house, and it needs to be done today or the whole planet is doomed! If the house isn't falling into a sinkhole, then it can wait. I demand cuddles right away!
3. As far as gifts are concerned, we don't mind getting tools, fishing gear, gift cards or season passes to our favorite sporting events. What we don't want is socks and underwear. Need I say more? Oh come on! You get us sexy lingerie!
4. How is it possible that you can give us compliments about our driving abilities, but then turn around and tell us how to drive? "I just wanted to make sure you saw that traffic light" is not what a confident rider would say after screaming, "It's red! It's red! Ohmygod stop, it's red!" Sounds like my dad
5. If we buy you a gift and you like it, we'll know. But please, for the next 12 months, don't tell us you wish it had been a different color, or bigger, or faster, or easier to use, or anything derogatory. After 12 months, complain all you want because by then we'll have probably forgotten what we gave you in the first place. ...I want more birds
6. When our son does something "bad," don't look at us and say, "That's YOUR son." Excuse me, but it took two to tango. I think that's the asking if we can punch him
7. Please, please, please -- don't go outside and start mowing the yard. Yes, we should have done it yesterday, but when YOU head outside to do it, our neighbors will look at you and say to themselves, "That poor woman. Her husband must be some kind of bum to make her get out there in the hot sun and mow like that!" Please, we'll do any amount of dishes -- just don't go outside and mow. *Looks at her mom* My dad seems content...
8. Don't give us aftershave that reminds you of your father or grandfather. That's just plain creepy! ROFL
9. Okay, so the only thing we know how to cook for dinner is spaghetti. But at least we cooked something and you didn't have to. Whining about the menu puts you one step closer to being in charge of the menu 'till "death do us part." Am I the only one who likes Cruger's cooking?
10. You can't seriously expect us to be happy about going to see a chick flick, can you? We'll go because we can be with you; we'll share our popcorn because it lets us sit closer together; we may even buy your favorite box of candy -- but to expect anything related to an emotional response from us about the movie is absolutely unrealistic. Just be happy we went in the first place. *Gasp* You'll get a box of my favourite candy? And I get all the popcorn?
and that is some of what Cruger has to put up with. I mean, as long as I get popcorn and pop during a movie, I'm pretty content. Unfortunately, looking back at some of these, he totally puts up with more XD. I guess I'll create another more relevant list.

5 Lessons from Work.
Posted 13 years agoI have been at my clinic for nearly a year. It has been filled with emotions, mishaps, successes, amazements, amusements, tears, stresses, and insanity. But, there are still lessons learned in this whole ordeal.
1. The real reward is the end of the day, where you realize you've made a difference
2. Have confidence in your abilities. Hind leg catheters were always my forte. My previous clinic frowned greatly upon them. In blowing your fronts, going hind leg means you're incompetent. My vet was reminiscing to a student about how in the beginning I was very insecure about putting them in. The vet asked if it was because I initially wasn't good at them. My vet answered "No, her previous clinic got mad at her every time she put them in. She's always been very good at them."
3. Have confidence in your weaknesses. Strive to improve on them
4. Laughter is the best medicine.
5. Don't be afraid to defend your peer, coworkers, friends, yourself.
6. Quit worrying about popularity, it's bullshit anyways.

So Complicated by Anna Graceman. I guess around this time last year. Like, despite the song actually talking about a romantic relationship, it could apply to relationships in general. The first bit of the song explains a lot of what was happening at the time.
Is there anything bothering you, anything at all, that you would like to share?
Since the nuke button is so conveniently located, guess I could say something. Mainly the incident last year. I've thought about it for months. I've looked at it every possible angle. To this day, I still wonder why I deserved the hate mail, the phone calls, the backstabbing. To this day, I also still wonder what made Cruger deserve the same treatment + Death threats. What made him deserved to be called "A pussy whipped cunt" and to be told "Keep your cunt on a leash"? Why did me defending myself result in all this? I remember not eating for a few days. I remember the concern in my vet's eyes when I would walk into work exhausted. I remember her and my mother doing what they can to get me to eat after noticing I hadn't eaten in 3 days.
A year has passed, tables have turned. I'm not sure I ever wanted the tables to turn. I'm looking back at the conversations from that day. I'm thinking of the results from that day. Sure, it's better for us that the tables have turned, it makes things peaceful. But, what's the point? There are a few questions to some people I want asked and answered. There are somethings I want to say, but most of it being mockery. So, I guess I still keep my mouth shut. Even though, what more can I do? I've proven myself less annoying, haven't I?

Posted 13 years agoDo you know what you want your major to be in college or what career you want to pursue? If so, how did you come about it? If not, what are some other ambitions you have?
I'm already an Animal Health Tech. I've always loved animals and once I was old enough to start figuring things out, I noticed I wanted to be a vet. I've always lacked the grades and the people skills and the ambition to be a vet so a tech was the next best thing. Emergency came about after a few TV shows, the fact that I can't stand to do spays, neuters, dentals and vaccines all day everyday. That and I couldn't stand it when my coworker's idea of a busy day that's hell is fully booked appointment scheduled with 10 techs for 4 doctors and one...just ONE emergency comes in and "HOLY SHIT!! CHAOS! THE WORLD IS ENDING!!" Yup, so emergency for me with a little more excitement.
Would you rather be proposed to in a creative way (hiding the ring somewhere clever, flash mob, etc.) or in the traditional bending down on one knee way?
Considering I'm probably one of the most oblivious person out there, creative wouldn't work. Hide the ring in food...we all know where it's going and it ain't my finger.
Have you gone through quite a few drastic changes with your hair through the years or has it more or less stayed the same? Pictures?

Posted 13 years agoWell, I am back in normal non-furry civilization (aka working my ass off in a way that's not art). My mini vacation was well earned and well enjoyed. Definitely something that I needed and my skin feels a lot better after that vacation.
Thursday started out as my first day off. I took this day off as a precaution since work likes to schedule me for a night shift before I leave, they did so this day was just a day to catch up. I ran some errands and satisfied my seafood craving. Then, it was off to meet up with Cruger. I spent the night and off we went the next morning.
Friday...Ok, we woke up at the ungodly hour of 8am. Needless to say I was cranky and eager to get going so I could sleep. I fell asleep promptly until we hit Jasper. We kept going onto BC and stopped at a small town. Luckily we didn't have to fuel up. For fun, we decided to see how much it costs for diesel. 147.9/L, Gas was around 133.9. YIKES. We continued onto the next town over still crying over the fuel prices in BC. And I now think AB complains a tad too much about gas prices. We stopped the night in Abbotsford. The Old Spaghetti Factory had some delicious food. Quite a lot of it. I nearly had a heart attack when the waiter came and asked if we wanted the dessert included in our bill. The ice cream was delicious but...so much food!
Saturday: More driving towards Bellevue. Border crossing was slow and as always a pick up truck had to budge in front of us. We got to the crossing and funny thing was the guards were more interested in the car than us. Meh, I'm not complaining. We made our merry way along to the meeting place. We began our trip to Leavenworth. It was reasonably uneventful...kinda. We stopped outside a ski resort, which was unprepared for us to come. For one thing, where was the toilet paper?! After that mishap, we went on to our destination. First thing I noticed was teh smell of bratwurst...oh delicious...FEED ME! After we found parking, we quickly grabbed some food. Mmm, bratwurst...I love you! After that, it was off to the gas station to get a map and me to splurge a bit on pop. Then, ice cream. After that, sight seeing. Look in all the stores and finally, the moment I've been looking forward to. The Nutcrackers! Poor Cruger...I tried to talk him out of it...he had a feeling he'd never hear the end of it if I didn't go into the museum. I do have to say, there are quite a few cool nutcrackers...After we saw the town we decided to explore the roads and see where they would take us. We explored pretty much all the roads and came back to look for a hotel. We miraculously managed to find one and for a decent price too. We went to get dinner before I passed out...well, in bed. I nearly passed out in the restaurant. We got back and decided to have one last drive around town. We got back to a very grumpy "Sheriff" He was very unimpressed we had backed into the stall and yelled at us to turn the car around. Yeah, we did eventually. Gotta love those guys, pumped up ego+ a badge. It was off to bed where I promptly passed out.
Sunday was time to leave and I stocked up on pop and we headed for the border. Sadly, the bigger an elephant, the slower it is. Our convoy, despite having a Porsche, was quite slow. By the end of that, I was extremely cranky that I hadn't eaten in 6 hours. Finally, we went our separate ways and drove until Grand Forks where we stopped. It was a bit of a mess trying to find a hotel but we found one. I was quite impressed with this hotel since the soap was amazing XD. Stayed the night and went home.
Monday, we bumbled home taking the scenic route. We took the ferry towards Crawford Bay. I was like a dog by an open car window. I loved the cool misty breeze. It got cold but with Cruger to cuddle, it was nice and warm. We landed in Crawford Bay where we stopped for ice cream. My ice cream really did not last long. We popped into one shop in the town. It had its charm. We then continued on. We went through the Kootenay National Park. By the time we got there, it was sunset so all the wildlife was out. Lucky, they were smart enough to stay off the road (or it was Darwinism at work, one of the two). One fun story was that we pulled over at a turnout to put fuel into the car only for us to look ahead to see a brown furry lump. Once we pulled upto it we discovered it was a bear. So, we literally accidentally found a bear, and a grizzly too. Needless to say, we did not fill up there. Instead, it was picture time. We continued on our way and headed back home by 3am where we ate leftover pizza and promptly passed out...at least Cruger did. He kept squishing me against the wall.
That was my vacation. I'm just halfway through day 1 of my 6 day rotation...I miss the Nutcrackers already!!

half year in review
Posted 13 years agoMan, it's been one heck of a half year, I'll tell you that. January started off with...work. My coworkers and I gathered in the lunch room and had a very tepid welcoming of the new year...then back to work. January went on to be one of my better months. I had more time to spend with Cruger. Sure, no weekends but it was worth it.
February, about the same.
March, I forgot what happened. More work, no play
April, uh...I forgot my parents' birthdays...That's all I remember
May, Drama...a few idiots out there. I guess somethings did happen to make this month memorable. For one, I do like to say people (in particular furries) suck. Heck, some people don't hesitate to back stab others, those same people think things could be hunky dory again as if nothing ever happened. Oh well, I can't help but think "What's the matter? Things didn't work out, obviously. So, why come crawling back?" Lucky, regardless, no one wants to deal with prickly me anymore. I guess being a workaholic has its benefits. Oh well, one thing I did learn this month, I sure hope I don't become an overly bitter ex. Must suck to not be able to let go and get on with life and be forced to torment your ex in underhanded ways. Meh, can't really say much. As far as the stereotypical female furry goes, it must suck for me to work and earn a living in a way that's not art.
Work has been work. They shortened the night shift this month after what happened the last two weeks of last month. I was getting exhausted working so many overtime hours. Good news is I got a few days in June off. I am looking forward to my mini holiday. For one, a certain someone is covering the night shifts while I'm gone. I think the managers and I had the same thought in mind. "Girl, you screwed me over three times in two weeks. Time to just take it" Fun thing is the first day the schedule came out, she didn't wait long to call me and ask for a day off during those times. I didn't call back, but I think the answer is obvious...FUCK NO! The vacation is mine, I'm enjoying every minute of it. For one thing, that town looks like there's a damn good schnitzel waiting to be eaten...and a nutcracker museum! Cruuuger...pretty please can we go to the Nutcracker Museum?
Well, as you can see, I've become quite a curmudgeon. I guess this is what happens.

Posted 13 years agoI've met a dog that reminded myself of me. It was scared of the world and lost trust of everything around it. Understandably so, after all that's happened to it. It didn't matter who approached her, she would shy away. Even from myself who had taken the pain away and offered food. Still, she will come around, just give it time. There will be times she will breakdown and run away from all. But being shown patience and understanding, she will come around and make a happy owner one day.

Spring forward while looking back
Posted 13 years agoWell, in light of recent events. I decided to use this opportunity to instead of springing forward to look back. It's been a turbulent few months for me. I'm exhausted and heading into my final day of a 7 day rotation. I will hopefully catch up on some lost sleep.
Now the reason I am making this journal is to basically give a shirtless shout out to those who have helped me get through this month.
The managers of my clinic have got to be the most virtuous people I have worked for. I have worked for people who foster a very negative work place. These people are the opposite. I mean, here I am unable to get to work. It meant a lot to get a text from both of them asking if I'm ok.
Since we're on the subject of work, I'd like to once again thank my partner in combat. There are days where he reminds me of Cruger. It's wonderful, since it gets me through the day and reminds me I have something to look forward to (Cruger cuddles). I would also like to thank this coworker for also saving my head (literally).
I would also like to thank Kin for always being around to talk about the job. I wish I made your birthday but life blew up in my face.
Last and not least, Cruger. Who else can I cuddle upto and fall asleep on? I am going to have to kidnap your cat again though. She enjoyed her vacation here and as annoying as it was, the bed warmer was nice.
Well that's all folks, I have work tomorrow.

1. Offer to “babysit” your own kids. When your 16-year-old neighbor does it, it’s called babysitting. When a parent does it, it’s called child care, and it lasts for at least 18 years. Get it? Irrelevant to me. I don't think I ever want kids.
2. Imply that office work is harder than housework. At the end of a hard day, there may be smoke coming out of your ears, but let’s face it: You’ve basically been sitting on your butt. That same smoke is coming out of our ears too—but we’ve cleaned the house, shuttled the kids around, run errands all over town and lugged grocery bags besides. When we say we’re exhausted, we are exhausted. Eh, replace housework with my work. It evens the field. I can't do Cruger's job and he can't do mine.
3. Give a home appliance as a gift. Forgive us if we can’t work it up for this one. A new washing machine? Really? Can we get you some new snow tires? Honestly, I think Cruger would love new snow tires >.< I wouldn't want a new washing machine though. Where do I put it? Better idea, a blender. You know one of those small personal ones. 4. Buy us the “cougar” perfume. Under our crew-neck sweaters may beat the heart of an untamed vixen—but most of us don’t want to smell like one. (Nice try, though.) Meh, I think there's a greater issue of what would happen if I got perfume from anyone and tried it out. You would have a very pink/red hellhound with skin flakes everywhere
5. Brag about your driving. This is supposed to let us know that ours isn’t so great. If my husband tells me one more time that he’s been “accident-free since 1978,” I’m going to reach over, grab the wheel and make the car swerve into something, just to shut him up. 6. Be unimpressed by a meal that took a lot of time and trouble. I don’t know whose fault this is (Food Network? If the result is less than earth-shattering, say something nice anyway. or complain when we go out for a nice meal.
7. Buy clothes without trying them on. We know that the second you get into a department store you start to feel faint, but do us a favor and take the extra five minutes. Otherwise, you know who gets stuck with the returns? Not me, I ain't driving
8. Know it all, especially in public. Oh, honey. While you’re going on at length about whatever it is, we’re taking the temperature of the room, and we know everyone’s starting to fidget. Food is a wonderfully useful tool if this were to happen...mrow!
9. Say anything remotely critical about our new haircut. Sometimes getting a new cut goes well; sometimes it doesn’t. Usually we know the difference. Don’t rub it in. Meh, true but, I like my hair boring

Well, this month is turning out...
Posted 14 years agoReally crappy. So as always work is understaffed for techs. We're still on the modified schedule which means I'm the only one with the long hours but extended days off. Not too bad if only the deal didn't involve screwing weekends over. Yeah, there goes a lot of plans. I swear, it's great when something is planned and as always, I say "Can't, I work the nightshift...again." Yeah, it's gotten to the point now I'm automatically excluded from events since I'm going to be working, despite me being able to make it having a day shift. It wasn't so bad in January where people were still worrying about their Christmas bills. Now, it's the same story again.
Yup, being excluded and forgotten is so very lovely. We'll see about my birthday. I'll bet dollars to doughnuts that's going to be forgotten with a furry con around the corner, it on a weekday and my sister stealing the spotlight b-.-d happens every year.
In other news, my two favourite docs are leaving the clinic. They'll be gone by March. So, after all that work to hire new vets, there wasn't much of an effort to keep them...Well, another one bites the dust.
