Just realized today that I hadn't posted a journal on here in a Long Time!
I'm not super active on here these days, but you can still find me just about anywhere under the same name I use here~

•I've been at work, healing, and attending cons for the last two years!
•I work on fursuits, costumes, props, and other stuff outside of drawing! Come yell with me about it!
•I'm trying to go back to college after 2 years of playing a really good game of hooky!
•Advice: Be kind and patient with yourself, progress at your own pace, accept help sometimes, and don't get murdered! <3
I've been working for the last two years, juggling mental health, physical health, and overall just my state of wellbeing, with mixed results! <3 After Anthrocon and Furpocalypse 2017, I started experiencing some serious art block, and am still struggling with it, but was able to work myself up some for artwork for commissions, as well as present artwork for the only two years of Pine Fur Con, Maine's first Furry convention! <3
I traveled to Maine for Pine Fur Con twice during 2018 and 2019, attended TFF 2018 (currently my last TFF, as it stands), ACFI 2017, 2018, and 2019, and have marked ANE 2020 off my list of out-of-state cons for this year!
I attempted my first dance competitions at Pine Fur Con 2018, 2019, and ACFI 2019! I'm still wicked nervous about performing like this in general, but it always serves as a confidence boost for me personally, and I'm so grateful and honored to share the stage with such cool and talented individuals! I'm far from a great dancer, but I'd like to say it: If I can get onstage and wiggle my tail, I know you can too. <3
I've also been doing some minor fursuit building, prop making, and so on in between all of this, and am excited to continue making progress in these fields! If anyone wants to talk shop, I'm always down to do so, there's just so much left for me to learn. <3
I took a hiatus from attending college in 2016, and honestly had severe issues wanting to attend again after 2017. I wasn't sure what I wanted to do, where I wanted to go, and so on, and have just been working the whole time due to the mental health reasons, among a few others that I won't really specify.
I also attended some self-improvement and self-help workshops, and after some consideration, I'm excited to finally be able to say that I have a solid idea of what I would love to pursue as a career, and have been reapplying to hopefully begin taking the next steps to do so! <3
I've learned a few things while I've been away, and I figure I'd impart this knowledge on you since nobody really thought to do so for me! <3
* Let it be known that there's no such thing as 'too late' on your journey, and don't critique yourself by comparing your progress to others'.
* Don't jump into something if you're unsure about it, have patience with yourself, and don't feel bad if you're not 'progressing' as quickly as others are. Some things work out differently for others, and at their own pace.
* Go at your own pace, and do what feels right for you as an individual.
* Take care of yourself; out of everything and everyone, you're gonna be stuck with yourself for the rest of your life. It's ok being you. <3
* Sometimes showing that you care about someone is by accepting their help; it says you value their strength, you recognize their kindness, acknowledge their presence in your life, and appreciate them trying to care for you, too.
* Fresh air is for corpses; lock your fucking doors+windows at night when you sleep. I want you all alive, dammit.
Now that I've done my spiel and you've managed to stay with me all the way down for some reason, I've got one more thing!

It's been a bit over two years since I last updated a journal here!
I apologize for the unexpected hiatus, to those of you who are still actively on here and follow me!
I've honestly not been in a safe headspace to be posting often or interacting regularly with others, which is no one's fault. I hope everyone has been well in the interim. <3 Here's a quick rundown on what all's been happening since I've been away! There's a TL;DR up here if you don't wanna read. ;)

Updating Commission Prices and more!

I'm so sorry for the inactivity and inconsistent posting; I've lost my head a bit in the rush to get certain artworks done for some deadlines and events, and I'm fully refreshed and back to work. :)
1. Commission Prices have been updated to better reflect my work time, effort, and scheduling!
2. Pine Fur Con 2018. WHOA. If you haven't been, PLEASE GO GO GO, I'll see you there next year!!! :D
3. Surprise! I’m open for exactly 3 slots for the Trapped-in-Wallpaper Commissions! Pricing starts at $45 and increases with complexity. PM if interested. :)
4. Planned Cons include ACFI, MFF (tentative), TFF, PFC, and Confuzzled (extremely tentative).
Yes, my prices have increased for commissions!
I've gotten quite a few more requests for commissions as of late, and need to address the facts: I have bills to pay, I require foods, and my time away from my other job is seldom and difficult to find.
Therefore, I must accommodate and make sure that I can still support my love and hobby while also producing arts for you, dear followers and friends! It's something I need to make sure is monetarily profitable and still financially feasible for me to keep up.
As for special deals and things, keep your eyes peeled, I'll be posting those on Instagram and Twitter more often than not. I'll be sharing those on here once in a while as well~!
Firstly: WHOA.
This convention's first year success was absolutely mind blowing, and I will admit to having cried several times throughout the entirety of the convention at the amount of support I received as an artist, as well as the incredible amount that we raised for the Charity. The incredible support we received was definitely enough of a push for the staff to prepare for PFC year 2. <3
I am so grateful I was able to enjoy 3 days of the 5 that the staff was working and preparing on-site, and look even more forward to spending Year 2 more involved and ready to work harder to make it even better for attendees.
I’ll definitely be trying to aim for Thursday through Monday for PFC so please consider attending next year if you have the opportunity! I’d love to see you all there!
As I chug through the tail end of my queue, I’ve decided to give these another shot, which means that I’m taking a limited number of slots for these again!
The starting price for those are $45, so they’re definitely worth the time and effort I spend working through them. If things go well with these, I might open up a few more. <3

My roommates, of course, as well as a few new and old friends running around the con itself! :D

I'm back from Anthrocon and some scary things have just come up for me and my family. Nothing financial, but definitely personal and important.
I'm going to be making an emergency trip tomorrow morning to California, but between now and then, I've been busy taking care of the house and making sure I have the things I need.
I need to take my mind off of it or I might lose my head from anxiety, and I probably won't be sleeping very well tonight.
I wanna do some quick trades to be completed within the next 12 hours; I won't be producing anything super high-quality, but some small sketches won't hurt me and focusing on something else might help me take my mind off things.
I don't want to botch any of my current commissions so this is the next best thing.
I also don't wanna work on my own characters or familiar ones bc I know I won't be fair to them. I don't want them to be too close to all this, so, here we go~

I know I've fallen silent here lately, although I have good reason for my unexpected mini-hiatus. c:
I'm working on my current commissions queue, as well as building up a portfolio of fursuit work! I am hoping to tackle a series of projects that include a Mecari, Project Jax, Project Marx, Captain's bodysuit, Erie 2.0, and a possible stab at a realistic fursuit head.
But until then!

Real Quick Updates+Heads up!

Here's the list of updates if you're TL;DR and just want a basic lowdown:
1) All my bases have been retired bc of style changes.
2) Captain+Erie are no longer Dutch ADs.
3) Kigurumis are a thing I do now!
4) Commissions are on their way!
5) Sketch Commissions will be opening again on November 18th!
OKS! Now I get to cover everything with detail. c:
Yes! That means any Free To Use and Pay to Use bases are all retired!
The sweater lineart, ref sheet lines, and more are no longer available. The only bases and linearts still available are the free to use Wisher Angel Dragon bases that you have to come to me for. c:
I've noticed a lot of Dutch ADs using these bases, which is fine. My decision to retire the bases, however, is due to some stylistic changes I've made to better reflect the Dutch AD species, since I've noticed that a lot of artwork depicting them does not reflect their horse-like anatomy, and the manner in which I draw my own dragons do not do this justice either. I don't want to continue encouraging this confusion with my artwork, and have decided to make this change.
All the rules still continue to apply to my bases; no adoptables, YCHs, profit off the base, or any redistribution is allowed whatsoever, with no exception~!
With that being said, I move over to the next quick update!
Again, a lot of issue on my part~
I never drew them to reflect any of the DAD anatomy, and refused to attempt it after a while. I'd created them with the intent of them having more feline body types, and with a somewhat more predatory structure, skeletally. Additionally, they both had an ability for years that I wasn't aware had been against the DAD rules until it'd been brought to my attention!
Basically, at the end of the day, they just weren't meant to be DADs~!
They've made a graceful transition to another Angel Dragon species that belongs to me, and will be drawn the same as they always have been. They're not Wisher ADs, since their backstories don't quite align there, although the two AD species I have coexist in that universe. There will be some more reveal on that later, but overall, I'm quite happy with this decision and the results of it thus far. c:

With all the sad news, I figure I could share some positive news!
I do sew and things in my spare time, although I don't make any of my sewing stuffs commercially available.
I'm happy to say I've started working on kigurumis (Basically giant comfy onesies) and currently have 5 lined up for completion by the end of this year, hopefully!
They are as follows: element02, blackpawwolf, freckledandspeckled, and two for me, flamesvoices!
I already another personal one in line for completion (Marron the Kingfisher Wisher AD) and am hoping to get Captain's Kigu done sometime to join the current one I have done of Erie. c:
Everyone's kigurumis have been mostly cut out and set up for work, just starting work on detailing and sewing. <3

Here's the list of updates if you're TL;DR and just want a basic lowdown:
1) All my bases have been retired bc of style changes.
2) Captain+Erie are no longer Dutch ADs.

OKS! Now I get to cover everything with detail. c:
1. All my bases are retired!Yes! That means any Free To Use and Pay to Use bases are all retired!
The sweater lineart, ref sheet lines, and more are no longer available. The only bases and linearts still available are the free to use Wisher Angel Dragon bases that you have to come to me for. c:
I've noticed a lot of Dutch ADs using these bases, which is fine. My decision to retire the bases, however, is due to some stylistic changes I've made to better reflect the Dutch AD species, since I've noticed that a lot of artwork depicting them does not reflect their horse-like anatomy, and the manner in which I draw my own dragons do not do this justice either. I don't want to continue encouraging this confusion with my artwork, and have decided to make this change.
All the rules still continue to apply to my bases; no adoptables, YCHs, profit off the base, or any redistribution is allowed whatsoever, with no exception~!
With that being said, I move over to the next quick update!
2. Captain and Erie are no longer Dutch Angel Dragons!Again, a lot of issue on my part~
I never drew them to reflect any of the DAD anatomy, and refused to attempt it after a while. I'd created them with the intent of them having more feline body types, and with a somewhat more predatory structure, skeletally. Additionally, they both had an ability for years that I wasn't aware had been against the DAD rules until it'd been brought to my attention!
Basically, at the end of the day, they just weren't meant to be DADs~!
They've made a graceful transition to another Angel Dragon species that belongs to me, and will be drawn the same as they always have been. They're not Wisher ADs, since their backstories don't quite align there, although the two AD species I have coexist in that universe. There will be some more reveal on that later, but overall, I'm quite happy with this decision and the results of it thus far. c:

I'm Emi, but you can really just call me Erie or Captain or whatever you'd like. c: I'm a nearly-20-year-old kid in college who dabbles in just about every art thing you can imagine, including traditional and digital 2D art, sculpture, metals and metal work, minimal wood work, some light fursuit building (building just 1 suit can hardly be called light, though!), and overall sewing work, knitting, and very rarely, crochet~! Don't be surprised if you see a bunch of things show up at different times. c:
I sleep weird, especially during the summertime, and I'm kind of a huge nerd, so if you have video games or movies or music or things like that you wanna tell me about, I'd love to see what you've got, and don't bite!

2. Life UpdatesNow for some life Updates!
Oks first up, I've shut down my Patreon~
There have been issues with Patreon accepting payments and essentially locking out my patrons, so I've closed the account until I can figure out and address the issue.
Also, now that school is out, I will of course be struggling with an odd case of insomnia, and will be wanting to do more at night to feel productive. That means commissions will be consistent and regular, at least until the Fall.
Speaking of school, before I get distracted!
I will, hopefully, be transferring to another school, and probably out-of-state, to further pursue a BFA in Animation. That won't be until next Fall, but that means I'll need to start preparations for it right away, while I also try to enjoy this little break from academic art and just focus on how to have fun with it again.
Speaking of having more fun with art!
I have been playing with WAY too many designs, and have been overly excited in possibly making more than my one Kigurumi. (It's an Erie Kigu; I wore it at TFF this year! <3)
I've been considering taking on one or two kigu commissions, staying around $100, since I'm not planning on doing this full-time. c: They're just fun~<3
I'm hoping to make a kigurumi for Captain, Journey Erie, and of course, Marron. I'd love to wear these to furry cons and out and about~!! Also, speaking of furry cons!
I am hoping to attend more furry conventions this year, while I am away from college! Unfortunately, because I live in Texas and am only aware of 1 Fur con here within this state, my options are most likely going to be limited to nearby states, or with severely long breaks in-between cons~!
My current list of possible targets includes:

•Furpocalypse

•Anthrocon**
This all depends on whether I can get the funds in time, but hopefully I will be meeting some of you there! c:
3. Goals!I mentioned doing a few things~!
1) I really want to make more kigurumis and things, so I may take 1 or 2 designs to work on over this summer. It's a learning process for me, so they'll be relatively cheap~!
2) Starting up more YouTube videos! I want to build up a more personal, lively connection, rather than just be that quirky little artist that poops art up onto the internet behind the scenes you've all come to know me as!
3) I'll be fursuiting more! More kigu time, more time for artwork, just more time to enjoy the creative process. I want to appreciate what I make more, and allow myself some more downtime throughout this reboot.
4) Cons! Conventions, conventions, conventions!!! One of the biggest priorities on my list right now is Anthrocon. I will be aiming for AC 2017 because I cannot join everyone this year, and it's a really huge bummer for me. That means that all my other cons can possibly be bypassed in order to make that quota~
5) Portfolio building! EXTREMELY important, mostly because in order to get into a new art school, I must have a lot of work done in preparation! c: If I do end up getting into the art schools I choose, I most likely will cut down on commissions, trades, and gifts, just because it will have to take priority over everything. <3
I hope this means that everyone, not just me, has a lot to look forward to!

A lot of the characters I'm sharing here have already had quite the history of being stolen, traced over, or mocked in the past. While I'm certain that it may happen again one day, they're still quite personal and important characters for me, and I would appreciate it if they weren't compared to my Angel Dragons. Yesss, I'm planning on adopting a kitty!
I dislike seeing cats of any kind up for adoption on Craigslist as it leaves a huge possibility for uncaring or abusive owners to take up the animals, so I always look there in the hopes of snagging one away from that possibility. Because I noticed that a lot of black cats are tied up with some bad voodoo and ritualistic BS that I REALLY dislike, I'm trying to snap up one of those in particular to love and protect. Additionally, most of my wardrobe is black--so none of that obvious cat-hair shirt business. ^v^b
Recently, I found a couple of kittens that I'm very interested in possibly adopting (Sadly, I'm only taking one home, though!) and will be meeting him next week!
Unfortunately!!!
He's still very young, about 7 months, and hasn't visited a veterinary clinic. That means he doesn't have his shots, he's not fixed, and he hasn't been checked over by a vet to see if he's got any health issues or is in need of medical attention. The owner said he's been inside all his life, though, so I'm not too worried about worms and parasites, although it's still a concern!
If I do adopt this guy, these things will literally be what I'll do for him first. The only catch; Commission prices, due to demand and scheduling conflicts, will be going up soon. This is the last time they will be sold at the prices they are; afterwards, there will be some changes and adjustments in the pricing, which I'll also publish here on FA in the commissions widget! A few new commissions that will be available after this update will be more watercolor paintings (which CAN be shipped to you!), possible custom keychains, stickers, and charms, and more!

I've noticed that my artwork has gotten traced--a LOT! So!!! Instead of people trying to trace my art, I've decided to begin setting up a Patreon account, where I'll post the lineart I used for Erie and my other Angel Dragons' artwork instead~!

Yesss, I'm planning on adopting a kitty!
I dislike seeing cats of any kind up for adoption on Craigslist as it leaves a huge possibility for uncaring or abusive owners to take up the animals, so I always look there in the hopes of snagging one away from that possibility. Because I noticed that a lot of black cats are tied up with some bad voodoo and ritualistic BS that I REALLY dislike, I'm trying to snap up one of those in particular to love and protect. Additionally, most of my wardrobe is black--so none of that obvious cat-hair shirt business. ^v^b
Recently, I found a couple of kittens that I'm very interested in possibly adopting (Sadly, I'm only taking one home, though!) and will be meeting him next week!
Unfortunately!!!
He's still very young, about 7 months, and hasn't visited a veterinary clinic. That means he doesn't have his shots, he's not fixed, and he hasn't been checked over by a vet to see if he's got any health issues or is in need of medical attention. The owner said he's been inside all his life, though, so I'm not too worried about worms and parasites, although it's still a concern!
If I do adopt this guy, these things will literally be what I'll do for him first. So two things: I've got some resolutions and ideas for the new year, as well as some commission updates!
For the TL;DR
1. I have New Year's resolutions: Draw my own charries more, complete my commissions faster, and make me happier.
2. I'm building a fursuit of Red Erie, and will be making more heads to sell before taking commissions and starting my own studio one day.
3. Sorry to commissioners! School got in the way of lots of my commission-work. I'm trying to get as much of it done as possible, though, so don't think you were forgotten!!!
4. If you feel that you were forgotten, check the queue here to make sure you weren't. <3 If your name isn't on there, check my gallery (I forget to tell you it's completed sometimes!), and if it's not there either, please note me!

Also, bigger news: I'm building a fursuit of Red Erie! She was dubbed 'Captain' in her original drawing, but has evolved since then to become the all-seasonal version of Winter Erie. I'll be posting WIP shots here and there as I go.
I'm currently just working on her digigrade padding, and will be completing her tail, head, and feet very soon afterwards.
Once she's done, I'll be trying to build some heads to sell here as practice before, one day, opening my own studio to commissions~!
I'd like to apologize to my commissioners for such a long wait! It's literally next year already and the only excuse I have is school! It's a pitiful one, I know, so thank you all for being so patient with me! <3

Hello! Art Trades??

Sorry it's been awhile since I last updated! I've decided to come out of hiding to ask for a few things!
1) My Commissions and Art Trades are still closed, but I actually make an exception!!! I'll get to that in a sec!
2) School is hella busy, so Commissions are coming slowly, but please note that they are still coming! I have a portfolio review this upcoming December in which 60% of my program is cut. If I make it past this first review, I will have to survive a 2nd one. Only 40 students get past this 2nd one. I am nervous.
3) My 11 packmates have either declared or subtly suggested my Alpha status in the pack, so, as an Alpha-figure, I look after them all very carefully. This takes some of my time away as well, so please forgive me~<333
4) I really want a kitty. I think this is important information because I'll be trying to be consistent in doing/taking commissions this year to save up to adopt and care for one as soon as possible. CB
Oks! Now that those are done, I can specify #1 a little more~<3 I WILL MAKE EXCEPTIONS IN MY QUEUE FOR CERTAIN ART TRADES.
I NEED stuff done for Captain and Erie~! That means, hats, plushies, fursuit parts, whatever you've got in mind, I'll consider at the very least! Even digital artwork if I've ever expressed an interest in your work before!
But I'm a little low on funding right now, so what I am willing to do, is this!

So, as you might've noticed, I just recently got another tablet and am doing my best to finish up everyone's commissions as quickly as possible!
However, like many of my fellow Americans and college students, my fall semester is coming up! Because I come from Austin TX and go to school at UNT in Denton TX, that's a 4-hour car ride and lots of packing and planning beforehand!
School starts on my birthday (Yay!) which is less than a week away. Because I'm still hurriedly packing and planning while working on some unfortunately sudden commissions (Thx mom) I'll be kind of inconsistent with my commissions, and I apologize for that ahead of time!
Because all of this is stressing me out as well, I'll also be throwing in some personal artwork and art trades to keep my mind off of things and to simply help me relax.
Just wanted to give you guys a heads up! <3 Enjoy the rest of your summer or whatever it is you might be enjoying, and I'll leave an update here when Art Trades and Commissions reopen in September/October-ish! <3

[IMPORTANT] HIATUS+TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIES
Posted 10 years agoThat's right!! Flamey is taking a Week-Long Digital Commissions hiatus!
This is mostly due to my tablet having taken its last wheezing breath just a few days ago. I now have to get a new one to complete the commissions, so until then, I'll just be working on some traditional artwork so you guys know I'm alive and still doing my best to stay sharp for your artwork.
Also, important news! I discovered that my mother has been hoarding a laminator away from me that she hasn't used in ages. I may take advantage of that and open up some traditional badges just to keep busy and also raise some cash for the new tablet, so please let me know if you might be interested. If I get enough positive feedback on the idea I might open a couple slots in a day or two, just enough to raise for this hiccup.
