I watched the Bright Falls prequels to Alan Wake tonight, and I'm convulsing for some kind of Lynchian supernatural horror movie that operates on tension and haunting scenery more than on scenes where a cat jumps from the cupboard and makes a loud sound, because that is movie GARBAGE.

Examples of flicks that boned me:
Sauna <- ffffff perfect example. Moody atmosphere, spooky as ffffuck.
The Ring
Mulholland Drive <- not a horror, but that guy at the start behind the mcdonalds was pretty wah
The Orphanage
Silent Hill <- but only the first half and last five minutes, none of that cgi dependency

So, I'm hoping someone out there in furry understands this vibe I'm begging for, and has a recommendation for me. I'm talking about complex narratives character driven quiet spookiness with nice scenery. The more blue tones and pine trees in the background, the better.

So the night before last, I had my first every furry dream~ *applause*
I tend to take the snide path when it comes to both furry and dreams, but it was actually pretty cool. Although I was still human (thankfully might I add. I'm not THAT furry) I was attending this academy in a castle not unlike that of Princess Peach, and I was surrounded by cell-toon shaded furry people.

It was like Paper Mario meets Quiz Academy. But with cat ears and fox tails for all.

Neater still, the teachers were some furries who personally have been really iconic for me, but who I'm embarrassed naming because some of them watch me and might conceivably read this, and I get shame faced about that kind of thing.

Any dream analyzers want to take a crack at this? Alternatively, anyone else had cool furry dreams?

So, come the end of every month I'm always swamped with a grotesque amount of work from my job. Long story short, I'm breaking up my work by watching movies for intervals between each thing that I do.

By batmans labia, I attest that new years in the first world has nothing, nadda, zilch on new years in the thoid world. Japan + Canada < Argentina, hands down. Never seen so much fire, random disco balls, and appear out of nowhere street parties in my life.

Hey, I'm gonna go live in Argentina for a bit starting at the end of this year. I'm feeling a bit underprepared this time around though, so since I know there's a couple of you SAers here on FA, feel free to plop me any advice you think would be helpful.

So, there's this Charmin commercial on TV where those bears are dancing and doing their forest shit, and then one of the little cubs turns around and SHOCK there is toilet paper trapped in his ass fur.

Hey y'all, I'm finally moved and semi-settled in overseas again, so I'm gonna get back to posting and shit. Boy scouts great justice. For shits and giggles, and cause I don't have anything serious to talk about:

2. Tekken 6: It's Tekken 5 with 8 new characters. But you can get fatty a buzzcut, so it does get some bonus points. I don't have a keen eye for these things, but the graphics and the gameplay have been so lightly tweaked that it's not even noticeable. So I wouldn't be anticipating this one too much.

3. FF4, FFTactics 2, DQ4 on the DS: Awesome! Okay, actually.... I haven't bought them, because I'm pretty fuckin' poor right now with tuition and shit. BUT ARGH, I could own them, and that's what really tweaks my tits. The box art looks hot, anyway.

There's this huge problem and that's when loved ones become zombies. I think zombie flick after zombie flick has dulled our zombie awareness. Let's think carefully about how genuinely horrifying a zombie encounter is:

1) Your stupid fucking loved one is a zombie now. Seeing the zombie reminds you of your time together in the past, and that you'll never be together in the future, because the zombie will eat you.

2) Everytime you THINK you've killed the undead hymen chomper they're gonna show up a day or two later since they can't die. And since they're zombies now, they don't realize that when they come back and bite you time after time, it really hurts. And hell, let's face it, you're not trying too hard to avoid them anyway.

3) Thinking of loved one zombies makes you hum Don't Look Back in Anger or Closing Time, honest to god, that's how crazy deep your affection is. But even if loved one zombie is unique to you, you're protein to it. So your L.O.Z feels about as deeply for you as it feels for the bogan next to you.

4) Zombie Jesus frowns on your zombie relationship anyway.

What's to be done about zombies then? You could move away from raccoon city and never look back, but you've made a lot of non-zombie friends there, and parting with all of them just isn't an option. It's draining when you've never been in quite the same position with any member of the undead before. Not dracula. Not frankenstein. Not even skeletor.
