Thanks Everyone!
Posted 7 years agoJust wanna give a big thank you shout out to all the recent activity. Favorites, watches, just everyone coming and checking out my art. I've made like a ton of good friends in this past month since I've gotten back to drawing and just...being active! I can honestly say that I'm just about the happiest I've been so far in my life, there's like nothing I have to complain about, I have no reason to. There are a lot of people offline that I have to thank for so much, but there's a few of you (you know who you are) that have gone above and beyond what i could have expected, and I am eternally grateful.
Much love!

Back!
Posted 8 years agoAt least for a little while, I will be present more frequently. A lapse in work has given me some free time, and I'm gonna see what kinda drawing I can do. So, I'll be around. Say hey if you feel sociable.
Status
Posted 9 years agoSo just a little update on things going on with me/ what will be going on.
I'm a Dad! My girlfriend gave me my daughter Emily on March 5th 2016. We've been thrilled to finally have her with us and we are enjoying every minute as a little family.
My daughter, my girlfriend, my work, and my hobbies (mostly bicycles, games, and my stereo system constantly changing) have left all but minimal time for drawing or even getting online here to wander around. My life has slowly but surely over the past few years gone from mostly online and little in real life to mostly real life and little online, about which i couldn't be happier. So in light of the fact that I'm hardly anymore, nor will i be on here very much, id like to let anyone who has noticed my absence know that i do pop on every blue moon to check up on all the happenings, but you wont be seeing much more from my side of things.
Just know that even though i dont do much on here anymore, i am still occasionally on if not simply to enjoy what i see from others, and maybe for others to enjoy what the see from my own artistic endeavors, although they have virtually ceased in production. For any new watchers, faves, comments, and shouts thank you very much and Im happy that you appreciate the art forms through which i have expressed myself.
thanks

-Thoughts from the mind-
Posted 10 years agoNever forget where you came from if you reach fame and fortune. There are many of you who find greatness here that have forgotten those still below you that had a greater hand than even you in getting you from where you were to where you are. They helped you, coached you, and paved the way to where you are. These people that helped you attain your high status may not even expect gratuity from you for their time and effort. However, you should still show them appreciation for all they did.
It's just like how a rock band couldn't be famous were it not for the not as famous fans that buy their albums and tickets.
"Anyone who is an expert at anything was once a beginner."

Sorry for the lack of recent content.
Posted 11 years agoI know I know I haven't drawn anything new and good in quite a while, but I do have tons of little drawing projects laying around here and there that I've been playing with when I have the physical and mental ability to do so. Work has been full time and tiring, but the opportunity of this apprenticeship program is too good to not work hard for. So, uploads will unfortunately be fewer and further between, but I will still be active as much as I can allow myself to be.
Thanks to everyone who enjoys my work here.

On the Ownership of a Character
Posted 11 years agoSaw this while browsing through random artist profiles
An artist had in very obnoxious, bold, red letters on their page,
"Do not draw any of my characters, and do not draw them in sexual situations. They are my characters only and only I am permitted to draw them"
A common statement found on artist pages here on FA, I will now dissect said statement to point out it's flaws.-First, it is literally impossible to stop anyone from drawing your character. No matter what you try and do to prevent it via the internet, there will always be someone else that will draw it without you knowing. You may be attempting to prevent character theft, but in the end it is incredibly easy for an artist to claim any character they decide to draw, original or not, as their own.
-Second, putting aside trying to prevent someone drawing your character, you now try to prevent them drawing your characters sexually? The idea of attempting this is absurd. Imagine if the owners of pokemon were to go and try and prevent even remotely sexual art of any and all pokemon on the internet. Not gonna happen.
-Third, after attempting to tell people not to do either of these things, you post a "nsfw ref sheet" of your so privatized character. It details every aspect of your character, their exact colors, their completely nude form, with multiple angles. It blue prints almost exactly how to draw your character, and in a sexual situation. If you don't want people drawing your character, then don't show them how to do it!
Once you put your drawing of your character out there, it is no longer yours only to draw. People will draw it sexually, make money off of it, and might just claim it as their own. In the end the only thing you could possibly do to stop it is fritter away your time, your money, and your life on lawsuits, tracking down every person who did any of those things and suing them for making money by drawing your character sexually without your permission.
So please, for the sake humankind's still plausible continued co-existence, let people draw your character. You might just enjoy imitation's flatteryWhat'd you do while FA was down?
Posted 11 years agoHardly much of my day is devoted to the computer, let alone FA, I hardly felt an impact due to the site's Deliberate Dumping Of Shit or Developmental Dick Opening Surprise (DDOS). I was also happy knowing that the attack likely pulled some superglue chair butts from their thrones of solitude behind their flat, glowing empire.
I, like I'm sure many of the friends I've come to make here do, find a smooth balance of solitary computer entertainment and exterior physical activity. Being one who engages in both said modes of occupation allows one to easily move from one mode to another in the event of either mode's lack of possibility.
I found myself changing my car's oil and flushing the radiator coolant, among other lesser, but still fun, activities for the duration of FA's recent time out. Do share, dear reader, how you occupied your time that would have possibly been taken up by browsing FA these past days.

Dear Digital Artists...(vent journal)
Posted 11 years agoWhen you put up your art, no matter the subject matter, no matter the quality, no matter what simulated brushes, etc. you use, please avoid using terms such as those used to describe traditionally drawn art. There is no paint in a pixel on a screen, nor is there ink in a digital sketch. How can one say a simulated virtual image of something, not even directly derived from the media it is being said to be derived from, is an actual physical representation of said media having the exact properties of the media despite not being real but a virtual copy completely lacking physical properties. It's like looking at a post card of the Grand Canyon you got from a friend who went there and saying you actually got to see the Grand Canyon.
About
Posted 11 years ago~People call me T.J., and I am an artist.
~Other than graffiti of many colorful styles, my art will consist of various multimedia depictions of mostly inanimate drawings, as living things are not my artistic strong point, but don't be surprised to see some of my weak life art attempts.
~Outside of visual arts, I am an admirer of talent in art forms like metalworking, welding, and even steampunk stuff if it looks pretty cool. On the flipside, some more homestuck arts will tickle my fancy, such as baking cookies and enjoying aromatic candles.
~I am moderately athletic. I was a swimmer in high school, and I enjoy building and riding bicycles in climate weather. But, I will not shy from the finer, more solitary activities, like video games and browsing youtube.
~I am not an angry person. I don't care it you thank me for watching, faving, shouting or anything. I am not bothered by having all kinds of people's comments on my page, especially those positive ones. I am also not bothered by anyone posting, using, altering, or in any sort of way interacting with my art, since in the end I still own the original, hand drawn copy with my signature on it. The characters used in my art are also free to be used in any way desired by anyone, since the characters in my art are largely those of the English language, which belongs to anyone who so happens to chose to become literate.
~My artistic talent comes from my blood as well as practice. My brother had realized his artistic talent around 16, when I was about 13. His talent for graffiti inspired me to follow and even surpass his talent, come having turned 16 myself and realizing my own skill. Before us our mother was a respectable artist, most notably having designed her high school mascot, a banner with her design hangs in my bedroom. Before her generation, my grandad on my father's side
was a printer for the Detroit Free Press. In the News industry he was quick to become adept with drawing classic newspaper ads and cartoons in styles like Popeye and Mr.Magoo.
Art Request and Trade Rules
Posted 12 years agoFree of Charge!Graffiti Art Rules:-10 letters or less (spaces, symbols, caps, numbers, whatever)
-No deadlines under 1 week
-Only letters, maybe a few simple objects per specific details of the requesting party.
-I can do graffiti in many styles, if you have an image of something you'd like it to look like, show me, or if you wish I can show you examples of what I can do and help you decide what it will look like.
-Specify what colors you want, if you want it in all pencil (B&W) or in markers, or if you have no preference.
Other Art Rules:-"Other art" will be defined as anything that isn't graffiti letters, words, or simple objects, like I regularly draw. Drawings of people, animals, scenery, things you'd see most other artists regularly draw.
-If you wanna request or trade for art like this, the only rule I have is you give me lots of specifics and details about it, and be prepared for my best effort, nothing more.
Art Trade Rules:-Art will be completed by each artists own schedule, quality, and style standards, not by the other's. This means that you can ask that I draw some graffiti and you can draw a doggie. However, you cannot ask me to do anything too much quicker, better, or different than what I am capable of, said capabilities being flexible, but not infinitely elastic. Nor will I ask this of you. I do expect flexibility from you as well, however.
If there is anything you're unsure of rules-wise, ask me, I can help explain anything you're unsure of regarding this.
