New Year, New Plans!!
Posted 13 years agoFuck New Year's Resolutions. I haven't made any for years, and I won't be this year either. This past year brought a lot of changes for me, and a lot of unexpected problems, some that are unresolved, but will be taken care of one way or another by the end of the month. A lot of focus was given to personal issues last year.
In 2013, I'm moving my primary focus to my professional life. I'm getting shit hours at my job, and I can't handle it anymore, so I'm submitting here more often, like I've wanted to for months. I'll be looking for a better day-job, hopefully salary. I have some really simple, albeit important goals, that when accomplished, will make me an incredibly happy girl. Most of them require money, heh. That said, you'll notice the recent commission, and a small personal piece.
I have at least one more piece planned by Friday, which will be the start of a weekly theme image. If I can think of a catchy name for the second one I have planned, it'll be two days. Scheduled releases something like a free pay-site? ;)
Here's to the New Year bringing us all forward. :)

I CAN COMMAND IT!! Also, Sandy.
Posted 13 years agoAn alternate title for this journal might've been "Let's go home and get drunk, cause the art is so much better when I'm buzzed, you see.", inspired by the current Hinder song on Pandora, atm. And a little bit of rum. :D
Between a friend visiting for am extended time and Sandy fucking up New Jersey and thus my power grid, I've kind of been away from drawing and focused on other things such as hanging out with someone I don't see very much, and a complete lack of access to civilization courtesy of downed trees trapping us in a small middle-of-nowhere town without power requiring the sort of critical thinking that makes one feel alive! *grins* Always fun losing power in my area.
However, I sat down after work tonight to focus on artwork and have succeeded in temporarily ruining my nice new sleep schedule of 3-9 by staying up til now. The trade-off is some really lively sketching and quick composition decisions that I'm really liking. Nothing to post just yet but if I can do this on command again, like I did back in college, my production speed will be amazing. Sadly, back in college, I was also often up til late hours of the evening, which makes getting a day job difficult when I need 6-7 hours nightly if I want to make good art. I was able to control my ability to make good art back in college, let's see if I can't do it again..
Another title might've been "She Hates Me", in reference to my muse. Though it seems she's a moody nocturnal bitch who can be lured in with hatred of my job, alcohol, moonlight and hard rock. Hm. Now if I can only knock off that second part, it's bad for my liver. I like my liver. >.> And maybe the first part too. I should have some lineart up by the middle of next week if things go my way! More cute and sexy girls! :D

Alive and..Better.
Posted 13 years agoJust wanted to let you all know I'm alive still. I've been dealing with a lot...and I'm trying to get back on my feet with most of it behind me. Behind me enough to focus on what's in front of me anyways. I want to pick up things where I left art-wise, with the ink-wash of: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/7567275/ and possibly coloring: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/7586102/ Then I have some other stuff planned.
I miss artwork...it's going to be slow here but I want to post regularly, even if it's only one or two things a week. My main focus outside my part-time job needs to be this portfolio for my review in December. I need my degree. I need to prove to myself that all the negative shit over the past 5.5 years was worth it, professionally. I need to go somewhere with my life and be able to afford to live. Anyway, before this gets emo I'm just gonna say to those of you who read this far, thank you. :) I'll have some new art up soon, just this Sunday is my mother's birthday, so I'm gonna be focusing on that.

New Plans!! Artwork?!
Posted 14 years ago So! No more portfolio review. I can't do work up to my standards by the due date, so I'm not doing it. I'll submit in the Spring, or next Fall. That actually removes a lot of stress from my life. I get to focus on transitioning and artwork and finding a better job. I'm currently working a $7.50/hr job at 12/hrs a week. I have $550 in student loan payments to make. I'll save you the math and tell you it doesn't work.
I want to find a new job in a field I actually don't mind working 20+ hours a week in by the end of Winter, so Feb-March 2012. With the lack of hours I have right now, that shouldn't be hard. I also want to start submitting here regularly and slowly build up a body of work to use as commission examples. I'm going to start with some more finished pencil work. You should see some pieces from me by the end of the weekend. I hope you'll like them. :)

November/December Plans!
Posted 14 years agoAs I write this I'm incredibly tired for some reason. I have a 7hr shift at 1pm tomorrow that I don't want to go to right now, but we'll see how I feel after sleep. I need to focus mostly for a shot at a portfolio review mid-December but I do have some plans for art here as well. Shall update tomorrow. :3

6'2"...or 6'1.5". I'd like the latter to be true. Did I mention I'd like to be a few inches shorter?

Dad; we ended up playing a bit of phone-tag.

Posted 14 years agoWhy is it every day I wake up, I feel a little worse emotionally? Rain usually makes me feel better and it's not done shit for me today. I hate this...just..tired of it. Tired of not being able to define what I want so I can make decisions I should have made weeks or months ago. Tired of not being able to define certain specific details of who I am so I at least have SOME certainty. God, I'm sitting here listening to Vertical Horizon's more depressing songs too, and that doesn't even help. Well, maybe a little. Fucking life can suck my dick. Maybe I'll actually be a real artist and vent my emotions through my art for like...the second time in my life. Though it might worry people. *laughs* I'll have this depressing entry off my list soon enough. Oh, and no I'm not about to go hurt myself in any way, even though this is one of those days where it seems rather appealing, to focus on something that intently. So...yeah..better journal later or tomorrow or..something.
Awesome and Hilarious Egoratpor Game Review!
Posted 14 years agoSo I was going back looking through some of Egoraptor's old awesome videos on Newgrounds, specifically Metal Gear Awesome: http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/297383
I found out he recently did a comparison review of the original Castelvania to its sequel, Castlevania II: Simon's Quest. And it's fucking hilarious, in addition to being a great critical review. It's 15 minutes long, but an awesome 15 minutes. Watch it. Now.

Personality Patterns!
Posted 14 years agoI keep seeing people do these. Saw
daggerleonelli do it! I figure I might as well! And it was..extremely accurate. Not perfect, but then I guess it picks the closest ten..though I think some results I've seen other people get apply to me as well. Anyways!
Understanding
You are willing to take the time to find out what's going on with other people, especially if they're in distress. You're a good listener, you don't criticize, and you offer unbiased, respectful, honest advice when it's requested. With a high score on the "understanding" trait, it is likely that you are enthusiastic about charitable work, helping others, and making the world a better place.
You don't feel the need to impose your standards on others or say things that, even though true, cause pain.
Aesthetic
You appreciate art, beauty, and design; you know that they are not superficial but absolutely crucial to living the good life. You have good taste, and you're proud of it. Those with a high score on the "aesthetic" trait are often employed in literary or artistic professions, enjoy domestic activities — doing things around the house — and are enthusiastic about the arts, reading, and travel.
You don't think it's pretentious to be moved by art and beauty. You're not one of those who believe it doesn't matter what something looks like as long as it does its job.
Warm
You have a genuine interest in other people. You're a natural host, and are always thinking about how you can increase the happiness of those around you. When friends have problems or are in trouble, you're usually the first person they turn to for aid and comfort. Scoring high on the "warm" trait suggests that you are among those who enjoy domestic activities — doing things around the house — and are enthusiastic about charitable work, helping others, and making the world a better place.
You don't always say exactly what you're thinking; you don't like the idea of causing anyone pain because of your criticism.
Scrupulous
You are an honest, fair person. You don't lie or cheat to get ahead. You treat others with respect and hope for the same in return.
You do not feel that you are above the rules that everyone else follows; you are definitely not willing to do whatever it takes to get ahead.
Upbeat
You enjoy being around others and others enjoy being around you. You have a "live and let live" attitude; because you know that no one's perfect, you are forgiving and happy to give the benefit of the doubt.
You don't feel the need to be controversial or express contrary opinions all the time. You see no reason to go around rubbing people the wrong way.
Empathetic
You are in touch with your own feelings, which helps put you in touch with the feelings of others.
You don't buy the logic that your happiness comes ahead of everyone else's because unless you're happy you're incapable of making anyone else happy.
Innovative
You come up with a lot of ideas; if one doesn't work out, there's always another waiting in the wings. You often have interesting solutions to difficult problems. You're practically a one-person brainstorming session.
You are less interested changing the world than in dealing with things as they are. Unlike those who spend all their time trying to solve problems, you prefer to zero in on things that work and stick with them.
Competent
You strive to master everything you undertake. You tend to learn quickly and do not shy away from challenges.
You are not a "que sera sera" type of person, nor do you go easy on yourself when attempting to master a new skill or get a job done.
Intellectual
You are thoughtful, rational, and comfortable in the world of ideas. People find you interesting to talk to. You're the living embodiment of the saying "You learn something new every day." In general, those with a high score on the "intellectual" trait are employed in such fields as teaching and research, and are enthusiastic about reading, foreign films, and classical music.
You do not avoid abstract conversation, experimenting with new ideas, or studying new things. It bores you to stick to the straight and narrow of what you already know.
Responsible
You fulfill your obligations and responsibilities, are true to your word, and generally obey the rules. While the majority of those who have a high score on the "responsible" trait enjoy traveling, they are usually very happy to return home — and don’t mind staying put for a while.
You're opposed to making hasty decisions, you don't insist that you're above the rules, nor do you feel compelled to color outside the lines.

One-two punch! And two questions for you!
Posted 14 years agoSo at the beginning of last week, my allergies skyrocketed due to high pollen. Then I got a nasty headcold. I could barely do anything on the computer, let alone stay out of bed. I'm feeling a little better now, not 100% quite yet. I still need the cough syrup, but the congestion and pressure in my head has gone away. Back up to 2.4k submissions to look through, and I'll be doing that slowly.
More importantly, I'm broke. I need money, and I'm looking to expand the amount of watchers I have. Part of the way I'll be doing this is by submitting more lineart and actual finished art.
That said, I have two questions:
1. Why did you watch me?
2. What kind of art would you like to see? Subject-matter wise, style-wise. What are you sick of seeing on FA? What do you wish there were more of? What do you personally enjoy most?
There is of course no guarantee I'll draw what you answer with, but I just what a general idea from my watchers.

53 Minutes..
Posted 15 years ago until my laptop battery dies again! ;_; I'm so annoyed at myself for forgetting the charger on my bed. *grumbles* Just a journal so I can bitch about it. One more night, just keep telling yourself that, Flare.
Commissions are still open, should anyone be interested. :3 The benefit of no internet is no distracts, and after I do classwork I'll be working on some new pieces, hopefully at different levels of finish, to us as commission examples! Granted, the area's getting 6-9 inches of snow tonight on top of the freezing rain, so I doubt the college will be open tomorrow, but we shall see!

X - X-RAYS YOU'VE HAD: Zero! :3
Y – YOYOS ARE: Fun! <3 Yo-Yo's!
Z - ZODIAC SIGN: Virgo :P
Two Weeks Left
Posted 15 years ago I'm not one to write journals all too often, but I wanted to let you guys know that you haven't watched me in vain. Life and college just kind of came at me all at once. It's actually affected my degree date. *sigh*
After this Wednesday I should be submitting on a regular basis! I'm also looking to take commissions and generate some income in the very near future. I'll be making a separate journal for that after I get a decent amount of examples up!
Until the end of the week, take care!

Something to Look Forward To
Posted 16 years ago The slightly egotistical title of this journal aside, I'll be submitting some new work soon. I apologize for making all of you who have watched me wait this long for new art. I have to take care of my college assignments first of course, and then I'll start working on some furry stuff. I hope to have it completed by the end of Monday.
I'm thinking that, rather than make you all wait for the finished submission, I'll upload the sketches as well, which will be scrapped upon completion of the image. That way, you can see them if you want, and there will still be the finished piece in my gallery.
I might even consider linking to any WIP uploads when I upload final images. What do you all think?

P.S. I plan on redoing that Krystal pic. There's so much wrong with it. >_>; I rushed it to get over my fear of posting my art online.

Something for Artists and Customers. Worth Your Time.
Posted 16 years agoIt's about time someone in this fandom sat down and wrote this out. This journal is quite possibly the most professional commentary I have seen in my seven years involved in the fandom. It contains advice for both the artist and the patron. Please do read. It will make me happy.

Also! I will have some art within the next week up. You all haven't watched me in vain. I had some large-scale reproductions to do in the past month. I'm free now though. Oh, and I plan to redo that Krystal piece. :3
