Okay so I fucked up with one goal of doing a full picture every month, but I HAVE been doing a lot of other stuff, most of which probably can't be posted because it's all practice-y stuff, but one such thing is reworking the old story stuff I only did like two things for, and trying again, this time with the setting entirely my own instead of shared with someone else, or as part of a group like the PCA days.

I already said some stuff about the next story in the description for the first one, but basically it shouldn't be too long before I can post it. I'll also add that I wanna do stories with other, non-Pokemorph settings I've come up with too, but I'm not sure when I'll get the ball rolling on those since I've been mostly focusing on the 'main cast' for now. Maybe after the third story is done I'll try to get started on the first story for one of the others? We'll see.

Also I guess you can count this title as also referring to me starting my 40s. Yes, I am an old man, practically ancient, but as the horrors persist, so shall I.

Because I'm stubborn like that and want to make things that make others happy, even when it feels like all of humanity is crashing down upon us with no light at the end of the tunnel. I wanna be the one who lights up a lamp and says 'well, guess we better keep moving then, huh?'

Wow this got real intense suddenly didn't it? Well either way, I ain't stoppin'. Even if I don't know where I'm going or how I'm getting there, I'll just push on through until I find the way I wanna go.

Yeah, remember when I said I was gonna try to do a full-fledged picture a month? You may have noticed that I stopped after like two of them, and that's because the third one wound up being way harder for me to wrap my head around than I thought it would, and I've resigned myself to just goin' back to the drawing board so to speak. Gotta try and hammer in the basics, as well as hammer in the habit of practicing them, so that my brain can actually try to learn how to make stuff more gooder <_>

In the meantime though, I've been working on little concept things that I wouldn't really consider like full-on PICTURES with fancy lineart and coloring and highlighting/shading/etc, like I just posted with Milly. I've also been trying to make a real proper re-re-introduction to my main cast of nerds, and make another attempt at getting back into writing.

It probably hasn't been that long since I last made a journal I'm su-

... Okay so it HAS been a long time, whoops. Uh, anyways, I guess it's time for another one then <_>

So you might have noticed that I've uploaded three things in the span of like two months, which surpasses my total output of like the past few years before that. I've been making a renewed effort to do art stuff to show off my nerds and learn a thing or two about how to use stuff like CSP and the various features it has, after using SAI this whole time like a FOOL. It's taking some getting used to, but I think I'm starting to get the hang of it, woo.

My goal with art is to try and do at least one full picture a month, starting with January, and following themes like outfits, holidays, seasons, and the like. I've got ideas for the rest of the year already, but past March and maybe April, I still need to think of subjects for the pictures and other aspects, lol. I also wanted to do more smaller pictures like what I just uploaded of Val, stuff that's meant to be more like a cleaned-up sketch with colors thrown onto it, that I can use for showing off new concepts, and showing off the pre-existing gaggle of nerds I already have alongside some information about the lot of them. But my work speed is still incredibly slow, to the point where it feels like all I really have to post so far have been the completed pictures. My back starts to hurt if I draw for too long, even with regular breaks. I could probably try taking longer breaks tho, although that also makes me anxious that I could be drawing more instead of resting more, lol

I'm also trying to get back into writing again, this time using settings all my own, instead of piggybacking off of stuff like the PCA like I did a long time ago. Turns out making new settings is a lot more complicated than you'd think, it seems like every time I account for one thing, several other aspects pop up that I need to work out too @_@ But I'm giving it a try, which is more than if I wasn't, so that's a good start at least, lol

I wanted to just get right into things with a big introductory story with a bunch of the new characters, alongside the old cast, but at the advice of an old friend I recently talked to, I think I'm gonna try doing smaller things first, both to help ease others into knowing the old and new nerds, and to ease myself into writing again. The ol' writing machine has been rusting for too long, gotta rev it up a bit before I can go full throttle again :Vc

One start is to rework an existing story to match the setting how it is now, since some aspects have changed slightly, like members of the university the main cast goes to. Other changes however are much more notable, such as bringing the Team Eevee lot into the main setting, and retconning Dash and Chrissy breaking up, much to the delight of the gothpunny (she really played the long game on that one, lol.

As for characters like Shirley who are kind of separate from this stuff, I'll try to get the main cast going again before going into the tragic backstory and subsequent renewed purpose of the momma dragon, so you'll have to wait for that unfortunately. But hopefully I'll get to that part eventually, taking forever is better than taking none after all!

Well, it's been a while since my last journal, so I figure I might as well say a thing or two while I'm uploading a couple things.

I've been trying to make a coherent, overarching storyline for my main cast, and I think I have an idea of what to do. It'll be absurd, but at this point I don't care, I have ideas and wanna write them, damn it! I just wish planning these things wasn't so daunting... ._.

Oh, for the Eevees, I've got something I could do for them too, involving a very snobby Furfrou girl I came up with as a rival of sorts to Ruri, in the fashion/modeling business. Not sure what I could do exactly, that's the problem. Writing out a Contest might bore people, but I wouldn't say the Furfrou is a battler like Ruri is. Oh well, I'll figure something out eventually :Vc

On the art side of things, I've been trying to make little refsheet things for the Eevees, like the ones I made for Lilith, Regina, Meimu, and Andrea. It's tricky since they have different proportions than my main cast, but I might finally be starting to hammer stuff down so to speak. I'm also working on other characters, like the afformentioned Furfrou, and a Rockruff girl who might be in charge of the branch of the Pokemon League that the Eevees have to register with and get battling notifications from. At this rate I may have stuff to show of all this in... a year maybe? Hey man, depression sucks, it's hard to get the ball rolling again once it hits that wall!

So yeah, I wrote a story thing, and I'm already working on a second one, albeit starring a different cast in a different setting entirely, an- Wait wait, it's not the end of the world, don't run off to your bunkers! The reason why it took so long to get back to writing was mostly just because depression hit me super hard for a while there, and also I was more into drawing stuff than writing it. Now, though, the urge to actually do stuff with my characters beyond just draw 'em has pushed me enough, and my depression has been fought back enough, to finally write again! \o/

At some point, I wanna make thumbnails for these stories, but in the meantime, you've gotta deal with the ol' STORY block, lol

Let's see... updates, check... artist-friend-commission-advertising, check... Oh, 'and more'. Uh, I'm gonna try to get back into writing at some point, so that's good. I just need to try and find some time to work on that stuff that doesn't get used up by me drawing or outside stuff distracting me I guess, lol. I guess that works as an 'and more' :Vc

Okay, so, if you haven't noticed, I just uploaded some pics I've done, but I also removed a bunch of stories that were either recently made irrelevant, or were made irrelevent a loooong time ago, as well as organized what's left into those newfangled folder thingamabobs. I also added a pic to my Scraps, an alt-outfit version of the Meimu~n pic, dunno if that'll show up in your inboxes though, so if it didn't, go look in there for it I guess, lol.

I also pre-emptively put up a Bios folder in a folder group for Stories, but I don't quite have any down well enough to put in there just yet. I'll also add folders to the Stories group for the different series I hope to do soon, but as it turns out, drawing takes up a LOT of time, and so I wind up not having much time to write stuff. Who knew?

Speaking of drawing, the reason why I've had this sudden explosion of artistic motivation seems to be the result of me being gently poked (read: threatened with bodily harm) to draw some stuff by a friend, and this time I decided to try some little tricks I thought of with drawing and coloring and such, figuring that if I'm gonna draw, I might as well put theory to implementation, and it worked rather well, I must say. It's actually fun to draw, and this has helped me get into the 'DRAW EVERY DAY, DAMN IT' mentality that all my friends have tried to drill into me over the years. And so I must thank all those friends who kept pushing me and pushing me to draw, because while it may seem like that one instance I mentioned earlier is what got me started, I'd say it was more the culmination of over 7 or so years of my friends pushing me, and now I've finally gotten that Art Engine started up!

So yeah, stuff's been organized or removed, and the titles and tags of a few things have been changed a bit, there's folders and stuff for various kinds of things, I'm drawing a lot more so more pictures should be coming soon, and I'm still working on story stuff. All in all, I've been pretty productive. And productivity is great! :D

(Holy shit, has it really been a year since the last journal I posted?)

Alright, I know I haven't been the most active writer or artist or whatever, but I AM trying to fix that, with a few things I wanna do, story-wise. Well, first of all I have to mention that due to certain circumstances, the last couple stories I've done are completely non-canon and cannot be used, and I'll have to rewrite the backgrounds and stuff about some of my characters. It's no big deal, though, what I have planned shouldn't be affected by this stuff all that much, but I MAY wind up removing those stories from here, along with the really old PCA stuff that I've been meaning to take down as well. Mostly because leaving them up might confuse people about what's canon and what's not, since future stories won't involve any of that stuff, lol.

Anyways, there's three main things I'm trying to work on atm, including a story series about Luna, my Eevee girl, that's kinda like a combination of Kamen Rider and Sailor Moon, which if it sounds odd, I assure you, it will be, lol. I'm aiming to have it be a part of a bigger series of stories, but I'm mostly just thinking of this one on its own for now, because if I can't do this, then I have absolutely no hope of doing anything bigger than this, it'd seem. Another one is a story series that ties into the fact I recently got Pokemon Omega Ruby and will be trying to do a runthrough using just the Eeveelutions and an Eevee, switching them around as necessary (along with an HM slave or two). This series would basically take place in my friend Basket's version of the Pokemon world that his famous 'starter trio' are in, although it's not gonna focus so much on the NSFW stuff that the afformentioned trio get into (but it will most likely happen in some way, shape, or form, but not as a major focus). And lastly, I'm planning on doing a sort of gigantic 'what if' scenario with my characters and a bunch of my friends' characters, in a setting I first thought of a long time ago after I left the PCA but wound up not following through on. It's still too early to talk about stuff more indepth relating to it, but it should be a fun thing for me to work on.

There's also some stuff like the fact I wanna make a dating sim in RPG Maker VX Ace as a silly way of testing what the program is capable of and whether or not I can pull it off, but that's probably gonna require art assets that I can't make myself due to lack of knowing much about spriting and the like, and I would rather avoid bugging my artist friends for help in making the assets since they all have their own stuff to deal with, and I don't wanna add to their stress. I kinda wanna try 3D modeling too, but nothing serious, I just wanna see what it's like and how it's done. That kinda stuff has always fascinated me, but I've always had trouble figuring stuff out about it, so I've been poking around and trying to find information and such about it.

I guess that's it for now, hopefully I'll be able to come up with some more substantial stuff soon.

Oh, and I guess today marks the 7th year since I first made my account here, lol. Time moves really super-fast these days, it seems @_@

So my computer has been giving me trouble lately, bluescreening when I’m doing stuff like playing a game or watching a video, and today, it got really bad, bluescreening while trying to do a System Repair thing, over and over again. As far as I can tell it’s a hardware problem, but I can’t figure out what that hardware problem is <_> I figure I could try to replace the whole computer, since everything is probably outdated by now on this 5+ year old machine, but that’ll cost me at least $500 from what I was looking at, to get a new computer that’s got better everythings in it. I don’t have that much money, nor do I know when I WILL have that much money ._. I could try to just replace whatever’s breaking, but I don’t know what’s breaking, or how to replace what that may be. So to my friends, if I suddenly disappear and don’t seem to come back soon afterwards, that’s probably my computer breaking. Hopefully I can get the money together before my computer finally craps out, but at this rate, I’m not so sure…

So to get that last journal out of the way, I think I'm gonna make a journal about something I wanna do: I plan to write and submit a story by the end of this month. Or year. Whichever you think sounds cooler. :V

The only problem is I don't know which story to write... I have 3 ideas: One about Nina, one about Meimu, and one that's a general bunch of characters thing. The Nina story, and the Meimu story, both will show a side of the characters that I don't really remember showing before, when they were in the PCA. But the "general bunch of characters" one could be good for introducing this new, slightly different version of my cast. Hmm... Well, I have 24 days as of this post to think of which to do, write it, and then post it. Which I know doesn't mean I have 23 days to just do whatever, so I'll probably get to work on something within the next day or two. I'll say something once work gets underway.

In other news, I have a new icon, for the holidays! Lilith's cleavage is a nice and comfy spot to rest~ And apparently deliver presents from! I actually was thinking about giving Lilith a pet Flareon in this new setting, if only because it would be funny. And if Mag pet him, then Lilith could comment on how one could think such a situation is rather surreal, lol. My friend  basketgardevoir made it, so go check out Basket's stuff, it's really cool :D

Well, I just removed my old bios for my characters. Don't worry, I'm not getting rid of them, I just don't think their old PCA bios fit them anymore. I'm working on a sort of collaborative effort with an artist friend of mine, for a setting that includes them, and as such, their PCA info won't apply to them. Maybe someday I'll rework the bios and post those versions up, but for now, the bios are off of here.

As for the other new setting I mentioned a while back, I'm still working on that too. I got a map that I drew up (not the best looking one, due to my stupid hands, but better than nothing), and I plan on outlining the first story arc soon. There is a FUCKTON of work that goes into making a new story setting, apparently @_@

Anyways, as far as activity goes, I've been doing two 30 day challenges on my Tumblr, so that gets me doing something every day, even if sometimes I can do them in a couple minutes. And I have done two stories for the collab setting thing, and hope to get 5 done altogether before I post them (although I'm a little stuck on how to wrap up the third story...).

Oh, I HAVE been working on my new setting for my ex-PCA characters to do stuff in. Mostly just thinking what each character would do, and what they'd wear. Also trying to get a map of what the world would look like in the new setting, since I'm not just gonna take Earth and use that. I want it to be something made for this setting. I've also been talking with some of my fellow ex-PCA members, and they wanna have me include a bunch of their characters too, in roles ranging from small cameos, to secondary characters, to important story characters. I've certainly got my work cut out for me. Just hope I can make something good.

So I finally got Windows 7 a little while ago, and after some bumps along the way, managed to install it and get everything up and running. I have a couple things left to recover, and then I'll be all set, program-wise. But also, I figured, a new operating system is kind of a big deal, at least for me, who's been using Windows XP on this computer for the past 4 years. So I decided that, with a new operating system, I should give myself a push towards doing things I've been meaning to do, or at least do more often. Some of these will take quite a while, but others should be easy enough to accomplish fairly quickly. And I've decided to list them here, as my New Operating System Resolutions. Yes, I know, a new operating system isn't quite the same as a new year, but they're both new starts, in a way, when you think about it.

I will use my Tumblr account more often. That is, I will make more original posts, and reblog more of the posts those whose tumblrs I have watched make.

I will get my friends to post more stuff on their Tumblrs as well, for they have really good pics they've drawn, and ideas they have, that I think should be shared with others.

I will redesign my ex-PCA characters at least a little. If not their body appearances or something similar, than at least what they wear will be redesigned.

I will finish the designs/backgrounds/etc. of my new characters.

I will create a new setting that uses all of my characters somehow (and maybe even my friends' characters, too!).

I will go through my watch lists on FA and DA, and tidy it up a bit. Just to get rid of accounts that aren't being used, or add ones I've seen that I've found interesting, and such.

I will comment more often on pics I like, on FA and DA.

I will use DA more often in general.

I will learn how to color linearts better and more efficientally.

I will color linearts more often.

I will do collabs with my artist friends. Perhaps we'll go back and forth, for example, they could draw a lineart for me to color, which when I do so, I will send back to them for touching up.

I will learn how to code and create a website. For what purpose, I'm not sure yet, but I'll think of something.

I will talk with my friends more often. Perhaps to discuss ideas, or hear what's on their minds, or even to just say hello.

I will speak up about my ideas more often, when I have ideas I wish to share, instead of just freezing up and keeping them to myself.

I will make journals more often on FA and DA, if only to just mention stuff that's happened to me recently.

I will try to donate to Weasyl, a new art site I've heard lots of good things about (the Tumblr for which can be found here), that's having a donation drive to raise money for the start-up costs of the site. The site looks like it's shaping up quite well, and from what I've seen looks like it'll be better than FA or DA, so I wanna give it a shot when the beta opens in August by donating a little money to it in order to get a beta pass. Of course, this is only if I have the money to spare to donate to it, since stuff could pop up to prevent me from having enough money to donate to it (like the Steam Summer Sale that's coming up soon).
