Ani Coyoc Diaz (PDX/Xoloizcuintli/2B; 7 days, damaged knee meniscus)
Darwin Bronson (WIS/Dromedary Camel/SP; 27 days, hyperextended elbow)
Though Pioneers fans have been up and down with their team's performance this season, one bright spot continues to be Japanese transplant Kumiho "Kyu-Ball" Kakashi who spun another gem against the Pelicans' top pitcher Bartolomeu Marcial, who is having a stellar comeback season. Kyu-Ball threw another complete game, striking out 9 Pelicans on a two-hit outing.
The Randalls won a squeaker against Charleston today, even though the Swamp Foxes rallied in the ninth to bring it to a single run before being shut down by Darell "Big Kitty" Johnson. The high-spot of the game for the Swamp Foxes was Jennifer Hayward who hit a home run and scored two on the day, as well as a home run from rookie Molt Rise.
It was a rocking game in Long Beach as Winnipeg roared to an early lead on the back of a six-run third that included solid center fielder Melanie Corvus. Nanu Lycopolis had a solid night, going eight and a third innings with 8 strikeouts, showing that she is a much better pitcher than her 3-3 record shows.
The Bombers went back to form, showing off their offensive and pitching muscles in tonight's game. Offensively they were led by breakout star Ty Vulpintaur, who had another solid night for the Bombers, flirtng with hitting .500 and roaring into the MVP talk against seminal luminaries such as Alejandro "A-Bomb" Coyotl and Luis "Papi Gato" Marquez.
The Ravens continually find themselves behind the eight ball. Though they had a solid outing from many of their players including a surpise performace from Stella Grant, it seemed like the Tikis were just that better. The Tikis have found a captain in sophomore sensation Moana Rivers as the otter crushed another home run, bringing her average above the .400 mark. The Kiwi otter has supercharged the populace, fiercely proud of her islander heritage and beginning to lead the team in hakas before every game. With results like the Tikis' sliding into a tie for first place in the West, there is little doubt in the future of the tradition.
Another solid starting pitcher whose win-loss record belies her talent, the rookie Sandy Viper-Roberts showed that the Wheelers' rotation has a very positive future ahead of it. The young pitcher mowed down 12 River Rats, with the home Wheelers providing just enough offense this time around to garner her the W.

BBB trades Maruzio Campbell (Dumbo Rat/IF)/Julio Salazar (Seal/SP) to WAS for Serafina Cordova(Wolf/SS)/Norma Long (Cougar/RP)

A day after the big three-team trade that sent Julio Salazar from coast to coast, he found himself starting for his new team, joining them for the last of their series in Ohio. And he produced well for his new team, going 8 innings deep with only 3 runs and eight hits. The Ravens fans are hoping the trade will be just the spark they need.
The Pioneers may have won the game and the series, but it came at the expense of Ani Coyoc Diaz, their starting second base. In the top of the 5th as she was driving in Benito Rodriguez, Ani blew her knee out avoiding a tag, causing her to come out of the game limping hard. Reports have her out 2-3 weeks.
Rory Calhoun dug in deep to produce a gem for the Waves, going seven innings deep in an outing only marred by a home run by Luis "Papi Gato" Marquez. The rest of the Waves bullpen held firm, keeping the Pelicans from taking the series.
Facing their first losing streak of the season, the Bombers held firm, racking up eight runs including a thrilling four-run eighth inning to beat the Pikes, backing up rookie Bruce Duncan Smythe III who was making a spot start on the night.
The Meadowlarks went back to what they were well-known for last season- quality pitching as Tristan Mullins turned in a quality start. The leopard lasted a full eight innings, holding the Randalls to just a pair of hits before passing off the ball.
The Foxes had a spectacular night at home, sweeping the River Rats to come back to .500 mark in a tight game between bitter foes. The Foxes were bolstered by a mammoth blast by Kenny Johnson in the first inning that held them up though it became a clawbiter quickly. Tension was in the air until the bottom of the eighth. With two on, rookie Fredrick Bowman (CHA/Jaguar/RF) smacked in the winning run to the cheers of the home crowd.

The Ravens continue to stress over the now record 0-12 start has not diminished their attempts to break out of their slump, though they can still attempt to get into the swing with 68 games to go, with a heartbreaking game like this, their chances continue to evaporate. Lord Pichupal seems to be settling into his role as the Wheelers' closer now, garnering his second save of the season in solid fashion, proving there was little bad blood with his reassignment.
It was a close battle for first place in the Western Division as the Tikis entered Portland on a three-game series. Though the Pioneers had a pair of errors that nearly broke the game, the home team held through thanks to a timely home run by Benito Rodriguez to take the first game.
The Pelicans faithful were rewarded with a raucous game with three home runs leaving the stadium. But the real help came from two errors in the 2nd and 8th inning, both that set up runs, with the error in the 8th sparking a two-our rally capped by a Terry Simpson double that scored two.
The first meeting of the two expansion teams in the FLB in the regular season proved to be a difficult one for the high-flying Bombers, as Franklin Heyward came out of the bullpen to befuddle the hitters with his knuckleball prowess. The Pikes bullpen continued to hold the Bombers for just a single run, throwing down the glove between the two Canadian teams.
Tanya Baskerville spun another gem, striking out nine Randalls and holding them completely out of the game while the Larks lit up the scoreboard with a total of 15 hits, small-balling their way through half of the Randalls' bullpen while working their way back to .500.
Many of the Swamp Foxes' fanbase has been freaking out over the last three series due to the harsh opponent they have been facing. But today gave a ray of hope, as Ken Brown reached into his bag of tricks, showing there is still tank in his gas while starting out, holding the Rats down in seven innings, backed up by a heady offense that included three home runs in the night sky.

I'm afraid that I'll have to pull a double-header tomorrow- due to a few things that cropped up today with work and the like, I'm not able to get the stats up, but I'll make sure things get going tomorrow.
In the meantime- I've got a question I'd like peoples' thoughts on: I've now had two situations in the last week where it seems like there's disagreement with who should have been the Player of the Game. The POTG is determined by the sim itself, but I completely understand there being other players who might deserve it better. Should I make it a bit more subjective than purely letting the sim's pick stand?

The Tikis have had a rough go with the stadium issues they have been having, and while there is hope that it isn't affecting the team, the Tikis have failed to take advantage of the Pioneers' faltering, staying tied for first place. Michelle Baker provided the sole run for the home team, while the Pelicans played small ball. The highlight of the night was Ji Drewes coming off the bench in the 8th inning, hitting a 3-run blast into the tropical night that provided the winning runs for the Pelicans.

We hope you have a safe and excellent Fourth of July for our American fans! There were plenty of fireworks as well on the field, with all but one game having at least two home runs in it, with two players slamming two home runs each!

The River Rats won their opening series with a pitching gem, with Phil O'Quinn pitching a complete game shutout, striking out eight Long Beach players in the process and holding them to just four hits. Phil was helped out by a pinch-hit grand slam by Craig Jones.
Pioneers fans were delighted with another gem from a rookie pitcher. Patrick Pengunator struck out 10 Ravens for a complete game, helping to facilitate the sweep of the Ravens thanks in large part to the Pioneer's solid rotation.
It was a tight game for a while in New Orleans, with the Wheelers pulling ahead 4-2 in the sixth until a rally sparked by Terry Simpson's solo home run helped the home team come out on top, scoring four in the sixth and helping the Pelicans pull out the win.
The Swamp Foxes had a tremendous surge in offense this game, but it wasn't enough when Jenny Price had the game of her career, hitting two home runs to score 6 by herself. The Pikes knocked Julio Salazar out in just 2 2/3 innings, tagging him for 8 runs.
Tanya Baskerville's first start of the season showed the same dominating stuff that she has been producing the last three years that included the Van Hoover in 2012; holding her own in a pticher's duel with R. Ryian where she sent 8 Tikis packing, even as Ryian racked up seven himself. But ultimately the 'Larks squeaked by with a sac fly in the 6th to pull out the tie for the series.
The Randalls tried their hardest on a hard-rocking offensive game, with four home runs on the game combining for 9 of their 15 runs, but the Bombers hit everything that was thrown at them and more, led by Jirik Utsu's two home runs for 6 RBI, sweeping the Randalls out.

Luiz Marquez may have had a slow beginning... for the first two games of the season, but the cougar showed why he was the front runner for the MVP award last year, reaching base on all of his at-bats tonight. The night proved to be a tough first start for rookie Sandy Viper-Roberts, tacking her for 4 runs in 5.1 innings.
Kumiho "Kyu-Ball" Kakashi, prize pickup from the NFPB, wowed the home crowd and the Ravens alike, fanning 14 as the home team cruised to a win on the back of the kitsune pitcher. Young Sabina Zula helped to add to that win, hitting a 3-run home run in the 4th.
The River Rats had an unusual game, winning with more runs than hits and less hits than the home-team waves. But five of those runs were scored on a pair of home runs by the top of the Rats' lineup.
The Pikes rocked Charleston's Alan Baker today, knocking the lemur out with just 2.2 innings with 7 runs in a rocking 3rd inning that saw the Pikes send a total of 14 at bats that inning with nine hits.
Though Paco Salazar had a great game for the Meadowlarks, the Tikis charged to a win, backing up rookie pitcher Ketch Renner who shook off a two-run inning to go into the sixth for the Tikis and letting the bullpen hold fort.
The Bombers continued their tear, this time on the shoulders of Boris Ritter. Ritter, who was often in the voting for the Van Hooven award for his career until languishing in the River Rats' bullpen for the 2013 season spun a gem of a complete game tonight, fanning 8 while only letting two across home plate.
