Game three is up!
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/12169316/
Just to remind you:
We will be having our 2014 Amateur Draft in mid April!
Yep, it will be character submission time here before too long. I will announce when the process will open, and they'll close mid-March. I will open the process sometime in mid December, giving people just about 4 months to submit characters for the draft. So put on your thinking caps, FLB fans! It's with YOUR help that the FLB stays healthy and grows with new players, new stories, and new art!

Wild World Series Game 2 Posted and Update
General | Posted 12 years agoGreetings FLB Fans!
A thrilling Game 2 is waiting for your perusal right here: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/12154179/
And in the meantime, I'm getting ready for a nice break once I get the final stats up. However, it will not be for too long. We will be having the two new teams select their players in the Expansion Draft in early January, welcoming the new teams into the fold. We'll have a potential move or two as well as a couple of teams pass hands, and more exciting...

FLB Playoff Games: Divisional Series Game 5
General | Posted 12 years agoGreetings FLB Fans!
Nothing adds more tension than the final game of a series- where it's been a hard fought battle to see who will pull it off. Especially with a battle like the CHA/HAW series has been, which saw the Tikis scratch out to a Game 5 even when they were on the brink.
Game Log and Box Score: https://sites.google.com/site/furry.....playoffs/oct-4
It was an old school baseball game in The Swamp, full of small ball and speed rather than relying on the long ball. The Tikis managed to knock starter Ginger Thompson (CHA/SP/Calico Cat) out of the game and jumped to an early 5-1 lead, from the bottom of the fifth on, it was all Swamp Foxes. Bolstered by a relief corps who had a massive chip on their shoulder from giving up two straight one-run games to bring them to this position, the Foxes got to work. First was two runs in the fifth inning, as Marcos Herrera (CHA/RF/Cheetah) pounced on a fielding error to score and spark a mini rally and then in the seventh where clutch baserunning by Herrera again allowed a three-run rally that allowed the Foxes to lock down. Juanita Olivares then locked down for the win, bearing down on the promise she made to make up for the meltdown of game 4. All in all the Swamp Foxes got to celebrate joining their Eastern Division rivals for the Wild World Series.
Which brings us to the Wild World Series- Set for Sunday:
New Orleans Pelicans
vs
Charleston Swamp Foxes
Congratulations to both teams for making it this year!

FLB Playoff Games: Divisional Series Game 4
General | Posted 12 years agoGreetings FLB Fans!
Game 4 of the Divisional Series brings more thrills and chills. In today's action, one team is sent home packing while one gets pushed to Game 5. Thanks for watching, and hope y'all are enjoying everything!
Box Scores and Game Logs: https://sites.google.com/site/furry.....playoffs/oct-2
Starter Jane Howard (CHA/SP/Red Fox) spun a gem against the Tikis, going eight innings with no runs, 7 strikeouts and only 1 walk as the Foxes were sure they were going to close out the game, unlike the claw biter of last night. But the Tikis pulled it out again, rallying at the ninth inning to keep themselves in the game. The home team rocked usually solid closer Juanita Olivares, slamming two doubles and a triple to score two runs before Jo Ruiz (HAW/PH/Stoat), who had hit .100 in nine AB all season, hit the game winning triple off of Jimmy West (CHA/RP/Black-Footed Ferret) to sent the game back to the Swamp Friday. Olivares was seen storming to the locker room, returning in tears to apologize to the team for her actions.
Though there was a lot of fireworks on the day, the Pioneers found themselves behind the ball from the beginning, as though Luis Marquez (NLP/LF/Cougar) was held to only a single walk all season, the rest of the Pelicans rocked started Ryan Mansfield for three runs in the first, and 2 in the fifth to keep the game further and further out of reach. Though the Pioneers tried to rally in the top of the ninth, the Pelicans brought in Guillermo Herrera, the saves leader and shut the rally dead, sending the Pelicans to the Wild World Series, only a year after the team moved from Quebec due to financial troubles.

FLB Playoff Games: Divisional Series Game 3
General | Posted 12 years agoGreetings FLB Fans!
Here we go fans, Game 3s! Tense for everyone, do they continue the season, or do we have the entrants to the Wild World Series crowned?
Box Scores and Game Logs: https://sites.google.com/site/furry.....playoffs/oct-1
Things seemed to be looking good for the Swamp Foxes in the middle of a tight pitchers' duel between Alan Baker and the Tikis' star pitcher R. Ryian. Just when the Foxes thought they were six outs away from going back to the Wild World Series again, Baker showed how tired he was, coughing up a two-run home run to Ty Vulpintuar. The Tikis shut down the game with a 1-2-3 performance from their rock-solid closer to find them surviving another day.
The Pioneers held a team meeting yesterday in one of Burbon Street's restaurants that scandalously turned into a drinking match between Alejandro Coyotl and Luis Santana. But it seemed to work for the Neers as the bonding experience seemed to light a fire under their dormant offense. Backed by strong pitcher Graham Hollinger who managed to shut down Luis Marquez (NLP/RF/Cougar), all but one Pioneer found themselves on base tonight, with Alejandro Coyotl having a poster night, going 3 for 5 with 2 RBI including a solo home run. The Pelicans seemingly could do with a bonding themselves, it seems as they go to Game 4.

FLB Playoff Games: 9/29 Game 2
General | Posted 12 years agoGreetings FLB Fans!
More thrills and spills in the Divisional Playoffs- both series are going 2-0 right now.. We may be seeing the beginning of the Wild World Series by Wednesday! I'm going to take my time getting the last statistcs in, but they'll be up by the end of the WWS and the announcement of the post-season awards.
Box Scores and Game Logs: https://sites.google.com/site/furry.....ayoffs/sept-29
In a gamble that will be talked about for years to come, Pioneers manager Harold Tailwind (PDX/Coyote) elected to have spot starter Cecil Lloyd start, in order to rest his starters and allow for the Pioneers' strong relief corps pick up the slack. Unfortunately for the old coyote, the bats of the Pelicans weren't cooperative, backed by the arm of their own ace wolfess Maxine Crumpley. Papi Gato Luis Marquez (NLP/LF/Cougar), seeminly pissed by the knowledge his six weeks kept him out of MVP voting this year, feasted on the pitching staff, going 2-3 with two walks and two RBI. Crumpley and Marcial combined to keep the Pioneers fairly hapless all day, including keeping Alejandro Coyotl (PDX/CF/Coyote) a 0-4 goosegg. This puts the Pelicans in the drivers seat as the series moves to the Big Easy on Tuesday, leaving the high-flying Pioneers licking their wounds and hoping they can pull a miracle.
Ginger Thompson (CHA/SP/Calico Cat) got the start for the Swamp Foxes, but scared everyone by coming out after only two innings of work complaining about a tender shoulder that left fans in The Swamp holding their breath. Eventually, the prognosis came back that she only had a minor sprain in her shoulder; team doctors have her fine for gave five if necessary, and certainly fine for the Wild World Series if the Swamp Foxes advance, but she certainly gave her teammates a scare. Her team rallied together with solid offensive contributions from players such as Iemochi Yamasaki (CHA/SS/Siamese Cat) who went 3 for 3 with a walk and a two run blast from Kenny Johnson that put them ahead in the second. Charleston makes the long flight to Paradise on Monday to try and close it out on Tuesday.

FLB Playoff Games: 9/28 Game 1
General | Posted 12 years agoGreetings FLB Fans!
Welcome to Game 1 of the Divisional Playoffs of the FLB! It's going to be a barnburner, with the four best teams in the FLB firing off on a best of five.
Also, I'd like to announce that we have our GMs now, I will keep everyone updated if we need any more. Due to not many injuries directly affecting the teams in the playoffs, I'll leave them off so we can get straight to the games.
Box Scores and Game Logs: https://sites.google.com/site/furry.....ayoffs/sept-28
Charleston took Game 1 in a dominant fashion, with six players knocking in a run each by the fourth inning. From there, the Foxes leaned on their ace pitcher Jane Howard, who dug in after putting herself in a two run hole and threw 6 2/3 innings, The Tikis tried their best with a two-out rally in the ninth inning capped by a two-run home run by John Cummings, but the Tikis were shut down as the home crowd cheered.
The Pioneers home crowd was being treated to a pitchers duel between two strong pitchers who were given starts out of order. For Portland, it was out of nowhere strongarm Keith Veeck who was given the start and fanned nine people, and for New Orleans, strong #2 pitcher Kris Stellner took the rubber, fanning 11 on her own including 3 to Alejandro Coyotl (PDX/CF/Coyote) alone. The home squad had ground out a 4-3 lead going into the ninth when all hell seemed to break loose. Derek Miller, closer for the Pioneers, giving up a two-run home run that gave the game winner to Papi Gato Luis Marquez, who showed that his injury did not affect his power with a splash into the Columbia River.

Ricardo Ibanez (HAW/3B/Otter) 2 days, damaged meniscus.

Antonio Trinidad threw eight strikeouts in 8 innings for the Ravens, who won their thirtieth game of the season to keep them out of their worst season.
While losing in the penultimate game may not mean much for the high-flying Pioneers, the seventh inning had a scare that may have grave consequences for their playoff run. Benito Rodriguez (PDX/SS/Ferret), the starting shortstop for the Neers was crashed into by Alanis MacKinven (MAR/1B/Leopard) on a fielder's choice play, causing him to go down hard as MacKinven successfully broke up the double play attempt. Team doctors have reported that Rodriguez tore an abdominal muscle as MacKinven kicked up. Replays show it as a clear accident, keeping MacKinven from any fines or loss of games, but the Pioneers lose Rodriguez for four weeks, guaranteeing he will be out of the playoffs.
Trey LaRocca had a strong outing, throwing 12 strikeouts for the River Rats.

As we're coming on the last two weeks of the season, I would like to thank everyone who makes this project an outstanding one. The GMs of the teams, everyone who's submitted characters for the drafts, and the artists and writers who are working to make this a rich experience. Thank you.

The Pelicans got another outstanding night from their ace Maxine Cumpley. The wolfess went 7 2/3 scoreless innings, only picking up 2 hits while dishing out 12 strikeouts. The Pelicans finally shut the door on the Sternwheelers' season, eliminating Marietta from the post-season.
The River Rats continued to hold on for the East's second-half playoff spot, standing behind another strong outing from Phil O'Quinn. O'Quinn went 8 1/3, only giving out two hits while striking out 7. The night provided plenty of fireworks, as two players struck in 3 RBI, all without a single home run leaving Hormel Field.
Frustration was running high in the Swamp Foxes' clubhouse today as the division leaders had another hard loss. The foxes could not capitalize on many of their attempts, leaving 8 runners on base. Starter Darlene Ford (HAW/SP/Doberman) made things even rougher, racking up 9 strikeouts on five innings before handing the game to her bullpen that clamped down hard. The Swamp Foxes' lead is only 1 overall and 2 in the playoff picture though they have a series coming up against the Admirals giving hope they can gain back some padding.
Omaha showed signs of life as they scratched out a hard fought win against the Pioneers today. Sherwood DeForest started for just the second time in his rookie career, taking the mound in his hometown. But he didn't show any butterflies pitching against the team he rooted for as he went 6 1/3 inning, picking up only 3 earned runs and six strikeouts.

FLB Games: 9/11 (10/30)
General | Posted 12 years agoGreetings FLB Fans!
In the FLB timeline- All five FLB games stopped for ten minutes in somber reflection of 9/11. All players were decked out in red white and blue ballcaps.
Fourteen games until the end of the season, and it's looking in the East that it may come down to the very wire!
In business news, the FLB is still looking for a replacement GM for one of its franchises. It does have one slot filled, but I need the second filled before the Expansion Draft in January. PM today!

Injuries
William Kitspatrick (QCR/2B/Grey Fox) 6 Weeks, fractured cheekbone.
Bobby Abbot (QCR/3B/Ermine) 9 months, torn abdominal muscle
George Cameron (CHA/C/Alligator) 1 days-Fractured ulna
Luis Marquez (NLP/LF/Cougar) 6 days, fractured wrist
Jesus Rios (MAR/CF/Crocodile) 5 days, back spasms.
The Pelicans are preparing hard for the return of Luis Marquez (NLP/LF/Cougar) to the lineup next week and it showed as they fell upon the Stenwheelers hard, just shy of mathmatically eliminating them from the post-season. Bartolomeu Marcial dug in deep for a stellar performance, only giving up one run in a complete game and Hikaru Utagawa was the team leader offensively, going 3 for 5 with a 3 run home run today.
The Pioneers gave the home fans a bit of a worry today, going down three runs in the first inning off of Graham Hollinger (PDX/SP/Fox) who has still to regain his control after being injured earlier in the year and has yet to log a win in his last three outings. However, the home team gave fireworks in the bottom of the ninth, first tying the game then loading it up for young rookie Nagendra Misra, who has only seen limited action all season, to hit a grand slam sending Pioneers fans home thrilled.
The Ravens, though they had been eliminated from the playoffs, still show that theyhave potential for next season, winning again in a thrilling sixth inning, scoring off of a solo home run and a two-run double to clamp down and win against the struggling Admirals.
Connor Johnson had a phenomenal game for the Tikis as they get into shape as they have all but clinched their spot in the Western Division playoffs. Johnson pichted a complete game shutout, keeping the Swamp Foxes biting their claws in tension as they watched the River Rats slide to just three games behind them with today's win.
