As Cohost is sadly crossing over the horizon but it woke up my long-dormant love for actual posting instead of just micro-blogging, I've set up a blog! It'll contain miscellaneous thoughts, rambles and bad thinkpieces ranging from music, games and other media to food, interesting life things, furry and basically whatever comes to my mind. I'll be honest, the last year or so has been hard - since Twitter went boom I've felt consistently more alienated and I've just genuinely missed seeing a bunch of the fuzzy faces I use to spot on my feed on a daily basis. So I'm going to give BlueSky a go too and my handle is flintfox.bsky.social - feel free to add!

This doesn't mean I'm giving up on Masto (still there!) and Cohost (which I LOVE btw and you should add me there if you're there!!), just another place to spread my foxyfluffs to.

I'm popping my AC cherry this year and heading to Pittsburgh for the first time ever! Might be my only con this year due to /circumstances/ but more than making up for it by going to the most over-the-top of them all.

There may be some potential other cons in horizon for 2023 as well but nothing certain as of yet, have to slot it all in with some other travelling that's been planned for this year and see how the budget stretches.

Let's see if I can actually live up to my promise of using this site more again :). I'm not a content creator (at least not in the furry art scheme of things), but I can definitely start using this page as a decent centralised area to upload some of the commissions I've been getting across time - so expect a few of those uploads soon!

A while back I created a Telegram group for fellow music geeks who are into indie and alternative rock/pop, and it's been pretty great so far. Decided to advertise it here now as well, so if you enjoy music and like the idea of chatting about it and sharing what you love, hop in!

What an amazing con, what an amazing experience! My first MFF, my first visit to the States, my first time seeing SO MANY OF YOU AMAZING PEOPLE in person! Such an unforgettable, fun trip in so many ways - thank you everyone who made it such a great adventure.

And thank you SO MUCH for the incredible reactions Berninger got. Not foxing up for an entire convention was definitely a different kind of experience and whilst a part of me is still gutted I missed out on the opportunity to bring Flint to my first American con, grumping about as Bernie for a whole convention was such a fun treat, and you guys seemed to love him just as much as I do!

Just a quick word up that I'm alive despite my ever-continued silence on FA (nothing ideological, just I don't really do journals and I keep forgetting to upload stuff) and that I've got some cons lined up for this year. Will be at Confuzzled as always next month, and looks like I'm now on the way towards MFF later this year as well!! First time in America!

In other life news - I'm going to be moving soon (nowhere far, just a nicer place), I'm getting used to single life again which catches me curiously unawares in the most random ways, and looks like I've got some special stuff lined up for May in general that should be pretty neat. For once it's not same old same old!

These days I rarely find myself sitting evenings by myself on my PC and even when I do, starting up Skype keeps slipping my mind all the time. The fact that most people seem to have transitioned to Telegram which does the seamless merger between desktop and mobile client far superiorly to the massively awkward Skype app isn't helping. Sorry for those who keep waiting for my icon to turn to green in the contact list - I haven't forgotten about you and I'm not ignoring you! I just forget and ignore Skype. Whoops.

Hi. I'm terrible with FA journals. Let's have a wee update on things.

1) Registered for Confuzzled! A little later than usually but I wouldn't miss it for the world, catch you guys there again! Super eager to hop around those corridors.

2) I signed up that Furry Network thingymabob, largely just to get my name in though. I don't actually really expect to use it unless FA croaks but feel free to add me there just so we're ready in case it's needed. It seems OK from what little I've used it, has the same "visuals over usability" issue that most modern sites these days sadly though. Anyway, the URL is https://beta.furrynetwork.com/flintfox/ .

3) Speaking of URLs, I set up a tumblr for music reviews. I've been doing this stuff for years now and this is my latest iteration of that hobby. I'm not saying I'm a good writer or anything but I enjoy doing it and I like having an outlet for all my wild rambling. I'm not posting on the latest happenings or recent finds or anything, instead I'm going through my collection one by one in a random order in a heavily biased way. 4) A whole lot of heavy personal stuff has been happening in my life in the recent few months, with my dad having severe health issues and my relationship having fallen apart. I am very uncomfortable about going through these things in public and I'd rather leave it at this, and I hope you can respect and understand that. However, what I do want to state in public is my eternal gratitude and love for those who have helped me stay sane during these times, whether you're someone I confided in when things were going to hell or someone who made me smile even when they were none the wiser about any of this. Thanks guys.

I'll try and make the next journal update in less than half a year.

A blast of a time was had. You can kinda tell when a con has grown big because you end up missing people, this certainly happened this year - didn't get to hang out with some of you as much as I wanted to. But it was a great convention, much amazing times were had and there were some definitely memorable highlight moments.

Sadly old Flint is starting to show his age and one of his soles cracked during all the good times. Gonna have to put a stop to any heavy fursuiting action while he's on the mend, I'll try and get some new paws crafted sooner than later.

Here's to keeping this journal up on the front page for the next umpteen months again!

It's May so it's now legal for me to post this. And instead of doing yet another meme with half-a-questionnaire's worth of irrelevant questions, we'll be doing this short and snappy.

I will be at Confuzzled once again, brightening up the days with foxy orange. I will probably spend a good chunk of the convention being a stupid fluffy animal creature, and I am fully available to be hugged and pleasantly pestered. You can also freely say hi to me (if you're so inclined) when I'm sans my fuzzier self because it's a convention and we're all there to socialise, meeting people old and new is SUPER COOL. I'll probably be attending a few events here and there too. Catch you there!

In all seriousness guys I am SO EXCITED for convention funtimes again.

Mainly posting this to get the EF journal out of the way there, considering how damn old it is. Not that I have much to say. I hope everyone had a good Christmas and a New Year, I certainly did and I'm looking forward to 2015. 2014 was a pretty good year overall as I went through a lot of personal development towards the positive and generally enjoyed life overall. 2015 is so far shaping up to follow in its footsteps - I've made some personal plans and hope to see them to fruition, and I'm pretty hopeful of how this year is going to turn out. Some of those plans involve money and thus it's unlikely I'll be able to attend any cons beyond Confuzzled this year. I really want to try and visit one of the US ones at some point in the near future but looking at how things are, I might try and aim for that next year instead while financially focusing elsewhere now. But Confuzzled should be a blast, as it always is, and with any luck I'll be able to do some random suiting here and there beyond it. I don't suit as much as I'd want to, not beyond random house parties anyway, but we'll see what happens.

Such a fantastic convention, thank you so much to EVERYONE who made it such a pleasure, from old faces to oh god so many new amazing people - there's way too many of you to mention separately but you all were an essential part of the wonderful week. And especially humongous thanks to who had the patience to be my room mate for the convention.

So many wonderful evenings spent chatting among likeminded folks, so many superfun fursuit sessions, an incredible fursuit parade that made up in its sheer event scale what it lacked in length, and generally superb times. I even danced in fursuit for the first time ever! And commissioned artwork in the Dealers Den for the first time ever! It wasn't a perfect convention (honest to god the Pawpet fiasco that killed Saturday, I really hope something like that never occurs again) but I can brush off all the complaints aside because all the good memories are so strong.

I don't even know what on earth is happening at the convention event-wise. See what happens, carpe diem, go with the flow. I didn't really attend any events at the last EF I went to, the occasion itself is all the event I need.

Long story short, massive thank you to every single one of you - staffer or attendee - for making Confuzzled 2014 one of the best cons I've been to. I went into this con with a whole new attitude, trying to make it as certain as I can that I would not end up with any regrets after it's finished and for the large part it worked - I had an absolute blast of a time and left the venue with many amazing memories and some brand new experiences in tow. This includes finally getting around trying some different suits - it was not only fantastic as a performer to try and do something different, but it was hilarious to confuse people when the regular suiter walked next to the character. What little niggling points I have were largely the usual teething problems conventions have with brand new venues and I'm positive they'll get sorted by the next convention.

Everyone I spent time with - there are WAY too many to thank individually, I absolutely love every single one of you and I wish days had more hours in them so I could have spent even more of them with you. Hopefully it won't be too long 'til we meet again.
