In case you didn't know, I am podcasting my novel, Piggy Moto - All Star Boar Band. It's a fantasy drama / comedy about a band of swine who are trying to do something about the world's unflattering opinion of their species. It's pretty much a story for anyone who's ever suffered the indignity of prejudice.
Anyway, one of the things I am doing with this podcast, is ending every episode with original tunes from furry musicians. Taking bids- looking to commission artists / musicians
General | Posted 18 years agoI have written a novel, and while it's not published yet, it *is* in the hands of an editor. It's been 3 weeks ans till no rejection. I know, excitement is premature, but I'm - well- excited. I want to get some art and music done for the series, and I thought I'd see what kinda' help I could get with that.
Still with me? Okay. What I want is art and music to go with the work. Now, since I'm not publishing this novel myself (like I said, it's in the hands of an editor right now) , therefore, i have no control over cover art or illustrations or anything. So this artwork is purely for my own enjoyment (and possibly for marketing materials if this actually takes off and I get YOUR permission to use it as such.
The music is kinda' in the same boat. The publisher I'm looking at also buys audio rights, so this music is entirely for my own inspiration and for background play at marketing events (con booths, signings, readings, etc)
Mostly, though, this art and music is going into my writing office to inspire me while I work.
So, here's the deal. FA is full of great talent, and I'd love to support that as much as I possibly can, BUT I don't have unlimited funds. So, I'd like to take bids from interested authors and musicians (if anyone is actually interested.)
So, if anyone out there would like to help a fledgling novelist get his second through fifth manuscripts write, drop me a line and let me know what you would charge / trade / like in return for one of the following commissions:
Theme song : I'd like a 4 minute or longer kinda composition that captures the sound of a magical, 5-member band of porcine musicians. Something adventurous and fun.
Art commission(s): There are 5 MC's of this series, and I would ultimately like portraits of each, and a group shot. So I may be looking at up to 5 artists for this. Descriptions available upon request.

The Manuscript Is Complete
General | Posted 18 years agoAs it is currently formatted, I have about 460 pages of Manuscript. It's about 98,000 words, which should equate to about 327 pages or so- sans formatting.
Now, I begin the process of hunting down an agent.

Flippant Moniker. He doesn;t really.. HAVE a name, really. He's pretty much always been �that dragon by the river.�
2. What kind of character is it (furry, anime, etc) and any particular race?
He's a dragon. Usually goes about in an anthro form, but his true shape is nonanthro
3. What is the first thing your character would think of when he/she first wakes up?
Oooh, probly to find a cure for morning wood, or at least a temporary reprieve.
4. Your character's favorite outfit would be?
In anthro form, it's blue jean shorts, a teeshirt with an untucked button-down over that (left open).. or nuthin at all.
5. When your character looks into a mirror, what's the first thing they would notice?
His own eyes, but others may notice his whiskers first.
6. Does your character have the same tastes in food as you?
Pretty much, only he eats more than I do, and can get nourishment from just about anything if he decides to. He doesn't really NEED to consume food, so it's really more of a commodity for him.. a spot of hedonism, yeah.
7. How is your character similar to you?
Same tastes, same personality. Same urges. Same hobbies.
8. How is he/she different?
He's a little more self confident than I, less temperamental, and a bit more of a loner. He likes people and all, just doesn't get as lonesome as easily as I do. Less flaky than me, too, but he can also be a little more blunt and less sympathetic.. and, well, cloaca.
9. If your character could speak, would they have the same voice as you?
Depends on his form. But not really, no. He had a resonance that can only come from a reptilian throat.. with.. you know.. vocal chords.. as a nonanthro he's got more of a subsonic range voice.. communicates in other ways, really
10. If you were to suddenly become your character, what do you think would be the first thing you would do as them?
Eat pizza and play with my new cloaca.. probably at the same time. Yiff myself because I could.. yeah..
11. Is there something about your character that you don't like how others think of them?
Some people seem to think he's just the goofy / silly / dopey side of me, and others seem to think he's my angry / predatory / stompy vore side.. He's actually my spiritual side, my physical nature and my sensual glutton.. me sans a lot of my social inhibition.
12. What advantages does your character have over you?
Well, he doesn't have all of my social inhibitions, and he doesn't take things as personally as I do. He can shut off his emotions better than I can, and can also shut off digestion, et-all.. There's the whole flight thing, breath that makes flowers grow, magical powers, affinity with plants and water, and.. oh yeah.. cloaca..
13. What disadvantages?
He's a dragon. Peoples' expectations of them are high and rarely realistic. He can't really �fit in� ever, which does come with a pretty considerable streak of lonliness.
14. Do you have any secrets relating to your character that only you know?
Not really. There are secrets that a person here or there may know, but none exclusive to me.
15. Do you have any secret drawings only you know about?
Yes, unless I really did lose my sketchbook at someone's house, or a public place and it got perused.. Nothing I'm ashamed of though..
16. Do you have any plans for your character or are you working on something big relating to him/her?
Not really.. He's me, so he's already a part of everything I do. I've pondered doing some goofy yiff art featuring him, though.
17. What misconception(s), if any, do people have about your character?
Well, that he's dumb, is a mean vore, is nothing BUT hormones, is never serious, stuff like that. People sometimes also seem to think he's my yiffy �side� He's much more than JUST that, but he is in part, the embodiment of that part of me.
18. If you could have just ONE characteristic from your character, what would it be?
Cloaca cloaca cloaca! Naah that would actually look fucked up on a human.. His plant magic, probly is what I would choose.
19. Have you made any characters that go along with yours, based on real-life people, that have the same relationship with your character as you with the real-life person?
Ummmm.. yes, kinda.. but not really..
20. Have you written any stories about your character?
Naaah, not really, he's more of a mascot right now. Just kinda me as a narrator.

He likes himself. Much more confidence. He's single (like me). Has cooler wings :)

I think people would be surprised to learn of his vorish tendencies.. but I could be wrong.. probably more likely that his true form is non anthro.

Writing update, NaNoWriMo and progress report
General | Posted 19 years agoOkay, art piggy 2 is a nightmare! Working mirror like stained glass does NOT work very well.. not the way I tried it anyhow. I'll finish the project, just not as ambitiously as I originally intended.
The Warenders' Exodus project: Sorry for the delays, those who are taking part in the illustration project (if you're not and you want to, check my earlier journal entries for more information how and whatnot) Anyway, the last chapter of part one is uploaded, and part two is written. I will do my edits and proofs and get those chapters started in December.. Why December?
NaNoWriMo: the National Novel Writing Month is November, and I'm taking part in the challenge to write a 50,000 word novel in 30 days. For the rest of this month, I am training: getting into the writing habit, and have clocked myself at a comfortable 2000 words a day. Right now, I'm about 10,000 words into a practice project, which I may post here, or even look into publishing if I like it enough. (kitler1213, I may be zapping you a message for help with that)
The novel I'll be writing is about a little person piggy musician in a medieval, fantasy setting. he and his band are taking part in an "American Idol" style contest in hopes to make it big and prove to his home land that pigs are not second-class. It�s a parody of modern reality television wrapped up in a mystery as some dangerous person or persons is sabotaging the show.
Side note: This is actually coming from an AD&D adventure I ran a little while ago, for which I made up a handful of bands and let folks vote for their favorite. for each band, I picked a couple songs that demonstrated their style, and came up with a quick description of their style, look, strife, etc. it was fun, and there have been multiple requests to do it again SOOOOOOO.. I'm thinking of making it a yearly, goofy thing. The thoughts of getting real, furry musicians involved crossed my mind, but I have nothing to offer as a prize.. Hee hee hee hee Unless.. maybe i can make a tee-shirt or something goofy. anyway. if this gives you any goofy ideas, lemme know :)

General | Posted 19 years agoI've been super busy lately working on tunics and such, but I thought I'd drop off a thought or two about my writing project.
As I'd mentioned earlier, I'm going to be sending them up in segments- more like chapters- about 8-pages at a time. My ultimate goal is to turn this novel into something more of a full-media experience. While animation is well out of my grasp just yet, illustration and music is not so much. I would like every chapter to have an illustration as well as its own, original composition.
Now, ever since '94, when I first got into Furry, I'd wished someone would do a kinda open publication, where lots of furries could submit art and possibly take part in the final composition, but the only open mags back there were either porno (which I love, mind you- I just refused to publiush it back then) or you really had to intimately know the publisher.. Really, There were a few good ones out there, I'd just never heard of them..
So, I'm thinking of doing that which I wished someone else would do way back then, and I'm gonna open each chapter up to others. If folks are interested, then my goal is to have one unique illo per chapter, and I'd REALLY love to have a unique artist per chapter as well, so every chapter is a different artist.
Now, yeah, I'm a poor dragon, so it's not like I can commission each song and drawing properly. All I can do is offer a copy of the book from the first printing (I'm gonna try and bind the first run by hand in a really neat and creative cover.. or at least get them profesionally printed and hand-make slipcovers.. wither way, there will be a good deal of hand-attention to each copy. After the first run. though, I'm gonna look into cafe'Press or other self-publishing methods.
If this book does well enough, then the second will be even easier to produce :) :) Anyway. Anyone have any thoughts?

General | Posted 19 years agoI was working yesterday on part two fo the Warenders story and ran into a snag. One of the plotlines that I'd written in as a side story had taken on a life of its own. Therefore, I split it off into its own tale. what I'm thinking of doing at this point is posting the stories in smaller chunks. Each full story is about 23 or so pages long, so I was thinking of posting about 8 pages at a time. Kinda' chapter by chapter.
