Hey everyone, I'm in a populated area and I joined a state furry discord to join more meet ups! I noticed a lot of them don't happen in my city even though there are lots of people located in my city.

I've only been to a couple of furmeets myself and don't have a lot of experience as a whole.

I went to my local library today and found out I rent (2 hours for free) a small room or make it a public meet up group for a larger conference room space.

My goal is to make an art/creative furry meet up. Just we all get together to make art, crafts, writing, any work at all honestly and just work in a social space together a few hours once a month.

So far I have joined my furry state discord and plan to post there.... when I know what to post? ;v; haha I don't know if I need people to start to schedule or if I should just schedule all alone and hope people show up? I have no idea what to expect..

Have you guys been to furmeets? What have your experiences been like?

HEY EVERYONE, I'm just... Wow. A lot has happened in two months. Both for myself and FA it seems, absolutely heartbreaking. Dragoneer gave me this username to use since it was a one-off abandoned account years ago and I really appreciated that so much. I'm really sad to see the news about him and I really hope his family gets all the support they need.

My own plate has also been pretty full of illness and death. Just seems to be an awful year for 2024.

Otherwise.... uhhhh my timeline has pretty much been:

Early spring, my mom got diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer, terminal, all that jazz. My sister moves back home to be with her during treatments. We find out late notice our rental house we live in currently is being sold to a new landlord who wants us out in june 2024. We are broke, can't do that, bargain with him for 1 year lease if he can raise the rent $500. Absolutely the worst, but we agree because we need time to recover from 2 layoffs and no savings.

June 2024, birthday month, yay fun! It was fun! Mom isn't doing great, so plan to visit at the end of june. I get a tooth infection with a crown from "stress grinding", great. I have to miss visiting my mom to go to the dentist to fix it. Tooth is still kinda a pain but I don't have time/cash to deal with it more.

Mid July, we get a call from my sister that my mom is going downhill fast. Please come visit ASAP. So I pack up my car and drive 8 hours to get there on her last day of sitting up and talking. July 25th she passes away at home hospice with my sister at her bedside. I stay an extra week to attend the funeral and support my family.

August, Day after the funeral I am finally back home. My dog is still sick after 4-6 weeks of recovery on a sprained elbow. We take him to the vet to get checked, he has cancer. The leg is withering and will not recover. We make the difficult decision to amputate to give him immediate relief. Surgery was extremely expensive and now we're going to oncologist which is also costing a lot of money.

Since we found out that we have to move homes in summer of 2025 my husband and I made the decision to try and buy a house in the town we live. So we started saving hard core to prepare ourselves for it. We have had a lump sum of savings made, but we are now using all of it to fund Junior's surgery and cancer treatments. So I'm not... really sure what to expect from the future, or how we'll get funding in time for next summer. Most likely just find another cheap rental to move to that the dogs can move around safely in? I'm not sure. My future plans have all gone to shit, I have no savings left after these next vet oncology appointments.

I can't take any more time off to manage Junior's chemo treatment, so I'll just run my patreon like normal and get rewards mailed out and commissions completed.

I'll be... just around a lot more often I guess is what I'm saying. I need to be working every single day streaming, drawing, posting, anything to make cash for junior's treatments and our 2025 move.

deep breath. I am incredibly stressed. I am going to absolutely do my best and make all of this possible no matter what. So please enjoy the show I put on as I dance for ya'll! The only answer people give me is that I have to delete my accounts. I don't want to do that.

But I mentally can't take this much damage every day, month, years now.... People I do NOT know constantly harassing me or spreading false information about me to I'm blocked/isolated/not allowed to talk to anyone publicly.

I want this to stop.

This policy update is still horrifically unacceptable. The fact that mods personal morals and personal opinions get to decide which people are banned... Or if someone gets dogpiled online that'd be enough to get them banned if they got mass reported. Just.... Online abuse is very real and we need to make better efforts to stop it.

Furaffinity has never been a safe space for minors with sexual artwork and themes always being present in general audience tags. If FurAffinity was trying to protect minors, they would make their website 18+ only for registration.

I have been using FA for about... what 18 years now? This place has always been a comfort. It's always been home to the weird and kinky. Broken and run down? Sure but it was home. I always suggested to everyone that they should keep an FA gallery so I can regularly watch them. I no longer feel comfortable making that recommendation. This place doesn't... feel safe anymore. I don't know if I will continue to post NSFW artwork here yet. I'm still trying to decide what to do.

I don't know what else to say. I'm really sad I had to delete so much artwork I really loved. I'm glad I have it cross posted in other places. But it feels heartbreaking specifically to take it down from FA. I know it's a privately owned website and they can make up whatever rules they want for themselves... But wow, the open calls for abusing queer and kinky artists is unacceptable. Coporate censorship is even getting to furry fandom. Never saw that coming.

Hey peeps, I've had a couple people private message me politely asking if I could unblock them (or if they upset me or so forth).

Just wanted to make lil psa - I block very often for my own online safety. As soon as I see anyone with a "dni proship" or "dni kink/fetish" language I just block and don't look back so I don't accidentally run into them again. I have no ill will or bad feelings towards these people, just to keep us all safe and comfortable for our online browsing experience.

However because of the way I block people, I tend to accidentally block people who have confusing dni/warnings. So people who want to continue to follow me sometimes get blocked.

I know the general rule is that you never "block evade" as common policy. But for me and my personal boundaries? I do not mind anyone private messaging me and politely asking me why I blocked them or requesting if I could unblock them. As my personal rule everyone who messages me usually gets 1 no-questions-asked unblock. Works out really well for me!

So if you notice you don't have access to my pages like toyhouse/da/twitter/whatever, you are allowed to DM me and request for an unblock.

I love ordering commissions but my hubby notices I usually don't get my orders back. Either because I'm not organized and keeping up with correspondence orrr usually the artists never complete the order.

I'd like to make sure I do better this year about writing down what I order.

Plus if I could actually write down orders, dates, and payments I could report it to my taxes for creative business. If only AJ would get her shit together!

I've just been really overwhelmed and burnt out for a long time now. I still have to keep working and I can not afford to rest.

But I wanted to take a moment to say I see people faving and reblogging my artwork, thank you so much. You boost my sales and give me an inch more of hope.

Lately people have been so generous to make me gift art or do trades with me, but I've been a wet pile who hasn't been able to organize my saves or upload anything to toyhouse. I just want you to know this is no failing on anyone's part but my own. I am just very weak and very tired.

If you ever want to kick me in the messages and show me again, I honestly would love that. When I have energy and spoons I like to reply back and make efforts to save then when I can.

Just thank you all for your kindness and interactions. I see them. I wish I could reply much more diligently. But hopefully kind peeps see this bulletin.

I haven't had access to money or stability for most of my life. Finally 32 and rent is on autopay which is my biggest achievement.

But now with a husband and pets, I would really like to do better. Earn any more income I possibly can. Problem? Stuck in strict isolation for my weak immune system. I work as a freelance artist and it's incredible. But my disability often makes me stop physically working many days of the week. It's been a struggle to get consistent income while fighting with my health. So far every solution just ends up being, "we need more money" as it usually is for most people.

My goals are to learn life long skills to help myself bring more income into the home so we can afford to put money away into savings for moving or maybe someday getting to buy our own house (LOL someday). I guess my most immediate goal? I would like to pay off student debt. Around 25k last I saw I believe... I always considered this an impossible goal. But I don't want to keep thinking like that. I want to make 1-2 thousand a month like I used to be able to when I was a full time artist worker. Disability has stopped a lot of my progress and I'm determined to get it back!

So after reading all that, haha, would anyone have any advice they would be open to sharing? Can be about stocks and investments, or just better financial earning skills for home bound disabled people?
