Dawn of the Final Day: Trouble Ticket Unreplied To
Posted 2 years agoWell, the trouble ticket I launched for the gallery audit still hasn't been launched.
I'll be archiving my posts today, and then deleting anything, according to the strictest possible interpretation of the rules, later.
If anything gets deleted that didn't need to be, it's because the audit didn't come in soon enough. I'm sorry, it's just... I can't risk having this account banned. It's become too central a communications hub.
I'm so frustrated and exhausted by this.

Question about Weasyl
Posted 2 years agoSo a good chunk of you will know I've been posting to Inkbunny again (Inkbunny page for reference).
Should I bother reopening my Weasyl again? I've been seeing a lot of people linking their Weasyls, but I dunno if that's actually getting traction.
If I should bother doing stuff on my Weasyl again too, shout my page on the Weasyl, not this journal.

To everyone deleting their submissions (archiving)
Posted 2 years agoBe sure to save the web page those submissions are attached to before doing so. This will archive the metadata and comments attached to those images.
If anything, it'll help preserve some memories along the way.

I don't understand the UP 2.7 clarification
Posted 2 years agoI... really don't. It doesn't really clarify anything.
I now have two Trouble Tickets open with Fur Affinity - one for submissions I still have remaining on my gallery that may have been borderline, and one for submissions I already deleted to see which should be undeleted.
I had deliberately overreached the deletions on my gallery to reduce the borderline list sent to the Fur Affinity staff, to avoid pissing them off harder or something.
I'm fucking scared.
I just don't know how to parse their rule updates. I don't think literally anyone does. They said they wouldn't make a "Do not post this species" list, now they apparently are making one?...
Regardless, I'm still furious they're deliberately destroying the Pokemon and Digimon communities on Fur Affinity with the deliberately ambiguous wording they've opened on. And still seem to be operating on.
13 years ago, I ended up having to take over a Pokemon-related NSFW community - AGNPH - to prevent its social destruction. I wasn't by a long shot the best person to've run that community, especially at the time, but it was my sole goal to avoid the destruction of those social links.
I avoid talking about that in public nowadays, and have discussed it in private chats mostly, but I suppose that context is necessary to encapsulate why I am so furious at the Fur Affinity policy update and its subsequent effects.
It isn't just about the pretty pictures. It is about the destruction of an entire set of communities. The policy update, as written, has pissed off the vast majority of people I know. And makes nobody feel any more trustful of the site's moderators to not be potentially malicious in the application of the rules as written.
The furry community is just so tired. Not just the Pokemon and Digimon communities. We're tired after the disasters that have hit Twitter, hit Imgur (yes, it's not directly related, but it's still a recent psychological burden for many of us). It's just so mentally exhausting.
And then we get hit with a culturally destructive and dislocative bomb such as this.
Yes, it had been creeping up slowly. Those of us in the Pokemon community have been observing this. And there does feel to be an element of "Embarrassed moderators demanding massively overkill rules to avoid being embarrassed further by the existing rules". This doesn't really help people feeling further trust on the situation.
Anyway, I'll continue posting as I would have before the new rules came in. Nothing I post here is underage or cub. If Fur Affinity does decide the content is covered by the new rules, even if by my reading it probably doesn't, I'm apologetic.
I literally cannot know if those submissions are allowed or not until Fur Affinity gets back to my Trouble Tickets.
I hope y'all have a decent enough time.
EDIT: I didn't even get into the periphery communities affected, but yes that is resting on my mind like a damn brick.
In less sombre news, I'm taking commissions! Things in life cost money! If you want a colourist like me to have a go at a lineartist's art you have the rights to and the lineartist is fine with me doing so, give me a poke! A note on Fur Affinity or poking me on Discord, I'm all ears.
The price of a conversion like my recent submissions is around $15USD, but I'm willing to negotiate depending on the picture and art style performed!

Where else you can find me
Posted 2 years agoI don't really post at all on Twitter. Weasyl and SoFurry are lacking any pull for the demographics affected by the recent drama.
I might resume posting to Inkbunny. I do not post the content to Inkbunny, and in fact, my entire gallery is 100% SFW atm. Regardless, I know a lot of people are moving over there.
You can follow be at it here: https://inkbunny.net/Flygon
I will update it with my latest posts later. I won't reenable all the old NSFW I have there. I considered it over the day, but it'd be too much effort to actually do.

Ammendum to my previous journal
Posted 2 years agoSo I've lost at a page of Fur Affinity uploads, and have been being cautious to the extent I've removed a lot of artwork that could be at the most vaguely grey area. Even if, say, they're women with breasts, even if it'd pass the "John Howard" rule, I've still had to remove because they could be too "cutesy". Fuck.
The ambiguous wording of the internal policy update hurts. :|

My Inkbunny has no NSFW, and I did a lot of Pokemon art
Posted 2 years agoFuck.
Fuck fuck fuck.
Well, I'm currently in the process of clearing out my FA - again - of anything that seemed potentially borderline.
Anyway, as the person that ran AGNPH for literally a decade, uhm.
Fuck.
I try not to discuss that past in too much detail publicly, because I'd honestly been moving on from it in the mid-2010s, but every time I see an entire archive wipe like this, of art that often can't be reuploaded everywhere because it's improperly tagged on its parent site (ie. Fur Affinity), often with the users nuking it themselves to prevent false-positives, it utterly DESTROYS the archivist inside me.
Anyway, I don't know what to do. I guess I'll have to be opening a trouble ticket whenever I want to even submit an image of a non-anthropomorphic character that could be in the greyest of zones. I've been avoiding posting on Inkbunny at all just to avoid any potential damage by even just posting on that site alone.
I'm just... frustrated. Once again, another culture wipe happens because a lot of people will delete content that isn't even affected by this policy just to avoid being collateral.
Anyway, I have commissions open. Yes, I will work on stuff that the commissioner doesn't want posted publicly. I don't want exposure, I just want money. Click here, see my vaguely listed prices (generally $15US minimum conversions like my most recent posts).

Commissions EXTREMELY Open; Or - Phone Repairs Expensive
Posted 2 years agoAlright so long story short: My phone had begun having issues with its USB-C charging port, and the screen was needing a replacement too, so I took it over to the phone repair shop for those to be fixed.
This was manageable, but still involved getting loans from people I REALLY do not wish to be asking for loans from. A few hundred Australian dollars.
The straw that's broken the Flygon's back is the even further $80AUD repair to replace the battery inside the phone - because it turns out it is badly swollen. By this point, I wish I'd just spent the money on a new low-end phone, rather than continuing to repair my existing device, but hindsight is 20/20.
All of this is to say, I am EXTREMELY open to taking commissions. My most recent submission is a potentially useful marker for the sheer amount of effort and detail I will put into a commission relative to the submitted linework. I will do my absolute best no matter what, I want a happy customer by the end of it all.
$15USD as a colourist - I am unable to draw artwork solo at a reasonable quality yet, there is a reason every submission I have has a lineartist credited - is the lowest I'll usually go for, unless the picture is extremely quick to redraw as needed.
I prefer to do pixel art redraws, but I'm not fully disagreeing with trying to do my old digital artwork style again, just be aware I haven't practiced it properly in years.
I'm sorry to be so loudly begging for this, but I'm feeling my back pressed against the wall here. Frankly, I'm feeling a bit buggered.
Just don't hurt yourself if you commission me! That would be mortifying for me, okay?
You can contact me via FA notes, or over Discord!

Another year, another cycle
Posted 2 years agoOnce again, it be my birthday. Complete with being woken up early by phone calls wishing me happy birthday.
I'll have to remember to mute my phone next year, hahaha.
I hope you're all going alright! I haven't really been posting very much, and I'm sorry about that.
I really haven't had all that much to post, really. I've been trying to learn how to draw solo, but without anything to post regarding that, well... I've not collaborated with very many artists for other works to post here anyway!
May your days go well!

Update on Commissions being Open
Posted 2 years agoOkay so... my colourist-of-existing-linework commissions are still open, but my circumstances have actually changed since the previous journal.
I did manage to eat the car costs, but it did hit me with a future financial impact. I am now facing some bill shock - and other unexpected expenses - with having moved house about three months ago. Some of this is my fault for simply not doing enough research regarding how certain utilities are billed ahead of time.
Anyway, tying in with my most recent submission, I'm kinda breaking my "Okay I won't post NSFW here" rule for this Fur Affinity to try and get people's attention.
That submission's a rough guideline for the sort of effort I will put into an image ported over to the Mega Drive (abusing the Shadow/Highlight mode) - please do compare with the linework linked in that description to see what I use as a basis.
Advisory prices for acting as a colourist on an image is around $15-25USD, but I don't have a big enough sample size to fully solidify prices. The image I just posted was about 10-12 hours of work at minimum.
Please Note my Fur Affinity if you are interested, or contact me on Telegram or Discord if you do have contact with me there.
I massively, MASSIVELY appreciate this help. I feel super bad asking for it, but I kinda need it.

Commissions are Open; or - car ownership sucks
Posted 3 years agoSo uh... got a phone call from the car mechanics, and I've learnt my savings aren't as big as they had been feeling by a substantial margin.
I'm primarily a colourist - the image descriptions have listed all the lineartists I've worked with over time.
I'll generally work on images from any artist as long as you have permission from the artist for me to do so, and that they're fine with me being paid to act as a colourist for the image. This is absolutely ESSENTIAL.
Also please understand that I do reserve the right to reject doing a commission if I feel my and the lineartist's style won't give you a satisfactory result.
I would do completely solo work, but frankly, the fact is I'm not good enough to be commissioned to do so yet. Part of why I haven't posted much lately is simply because I'm trying to get better at solo work, which has taken time away from doing colourist stuff.
If you're interested in the pixel art conversion stuff, I'm particularly confident in doing stuff for the following machines:
SEGA Master System[*]
SEGA Mega Drive/Genesis
SEGA Game Gear
Nintendo Game Boy
Those are also pretty much the machines I've done posts for in the gallery so... :D
I can try and do the more traditional digital conversions I've done in the past - those have usually been the intermediary step for some of the pixel art stuff anyway.
Anyway, if you want to commission me, I'd be very glad. I'm aware this isn't the best time of year to ask about them - unfortunately I know that as well as anyone else.

Posted 3 years agoIt's probably my fault for using the classic theme.
Sorry for the lack of posts lately!
Posted 3 years agoAlright, so the long story short is - I've mostly been working on art privately. This has meant I haven't had much to post lately onto Fur Affinity lately.
I'd love to post solo-done art someday here. But I need to get good enough at it first!
As things come, I'll post them.
I hope you're all doing okay!

Regarding Commissions (and small ramble)
Posted 3 years agoIf you're going to ask me for commissions, please be clear that I'm not a very good solo artist yet.
I've been trying to learn how to learn how to work as a solo artist, yes, but that doesn't change the fact I'm not posting my own art onto Fur Affinity yet for a reason.
Almost all of the submissions on my gallery are commissions as lineartists - and as such, commissioning me to work on art will probably either involve you getting the lineart drawn first, or getting permission from the lineartist for me to work on an already existing piece for the money.
I am making this journal, because fairly recently, someone tried to approach me to do art for them. Solo. And when explained to them that I'm mostly just a colourist, they attempted to show me a separate artist's already completed artwork, and said to me "Turn this into pixel art".
That's not only insulting to me, it's also insulting to the original artist.
I sent a note to the original artist, made it clear that someone's going around with their art trying to bribe people to redraw it directly into a different style without their permission - and unsurprisingly, they didn't want to give permission, and were very unamused when I informed them that someone tried to bribe me into doing the deed.
Don't be the kind of person that ruins two artist's days by pulling idiocy like that.
Anyway, yes, I do sorta-kinda take commissions. I always have. I just don't advertise it because of the simple fact that I'm a colourist first and foremost.
If you know me well enough, and are fine with the fact my solo art is not up to the standards I'd like it to be for commissioning... well, we can work something out.
Thank you for reading this journal.
