Update (and apology)
Posted 4 years agoHello! I've been absent for several weeks, and I know I've left some people hanging. I'd like to take some time to explain myself before I get back to business as usual.
Most importantly, due to my absence, I have been unable to complete some Halloween-themed requests for Arcvaal, DandyGray, beeUwU, Sky_Catamount, ChristopherWyvern42, and DuskTheDarkDragon. Those of you listed, please send me a note detailing a new waist-up request, whether it is the same YCH or a new custom one that isn't Halloween-themed. Unfortunately, I can't complete any full-body or super polished art for free at this time, so it may be sketchy and is limited to waist-up.
I'm very sorry for the delay. I always try my best to be on time and keep people updated on my progress. It is out of character for me to behave this way, and I will do my best to ensure that it will not happen again. Especially without notice.
My life is a private one, and I would prefer not to post the full details of my situation. For those of you who want to understand why I've been absent for so long, I will tell you that there was an accident in my immediate family, and I was left to pick up the pieces.
I was still able to complete leftover commissions, but unfortunately, I needed to shelve requests. I regret not posting an explanation sooner, but it failed to cross my mind early on, and as time went by, I began to dread what I viewed as a confrontation. I ask of you to please not see this as representative of my character. I'm sorry and thank you for taking the time to read this.

How do you decide what artists to buy from?
Posted 4 years agoI don't really have the money to commission people, so I've only done it a couple times... and they were pretty small things. So I'm basically asking this to people who frequently buy commissions from people.
How do you pick? What factors do you consider? Do you care if you like the artist as a person ? How much do you budget yourself when buying art?
Do you prefer to buy from well-known artists that have positive feedback, or small artists that haven't gotten a lot of business? Do you just look for sales?
What platform do you usually use to find artists ?
So many questions...

I have to be honest with you, while I'm posting here I'm also writing and illustrating a comic for my sister (though I'd like my work on that to remain anonymous) which doesn't actually leave me with a TON of time to draw other things.
Despite this, I've really been enjoying my time here so far and I don't intend to stop.
Currently I have a handful of commissions that I'm working on and a custom adopt (on top of illustrating the comic, which has deadlines)
But after that I would like to do more YCHs as well as Requests and Raffles.
I'm thinking about maybe opening FIRST COME FIRST SERVE Portrait requests every Monday with just a few slots, that way I can give people who are broke (like me) an opportunity to get some art. Alternatively, I may just reach out to do more art trades (ofc this closes the freebie door to people who aren't artists)
I just wish there was more time in the day, because I really love giving people free/cheap art, but it does take me a very long time to make!
I guess what I'm trying to say is that I need to find a balance between having art that is accessible to people without a lot of money and not losing money myself in the process ahah.
On top of that, the express keys on my drawing tablet broke, so I'm taking a bit longer than usual while I wait for the replacement to come in (which was kind of pricey, but it's my fault for not taking better care of it)

Sleepy (update on the requests)
Posted 4 years agoI'm gonna keep doing the headshot requests that I've currently received, but I'll probably be closing additional requests for now. I like doing them, so I'll probably open them again soon. I'm a bit sick at the moment, so I can't handle my regular workload. :(
I also don't have food money for another week and a half (It's ok I have enough white rice and ramen to tide me over, morale is just low lmao)
I wanna look into making a commission sheet, but I've never done commissions before so I'm nervous about it and need some time to figure out how I'm going to do it...
