Attention! Auction in Progress
Posted 12 years agoHear Ye! Hear Ye!
Here I'd like to present a fine example of the talenta skectia (young artist), fresh from the land of FA. This specimen is a hard worker and shows many signs of good talent and work if properly motivated. She is here for your bidding pleasure to use as you see fit. Some restrictions apply. (See her TOS)

PS - A good friend of mine is hosting an art slave auction, take a look at her stuff and I'm sure you'll not be disappointed.

Life, Gaming and other things
Posted 12 years agoSo it's been a long time since I last posted anything here, but i felt inspired sooo...
As by this posting yes I am alive and well, sort of. Things are stabilizing, but I'm sure things will not fully settle until after Anthrocon next month. My new job is treating me well. Nothing major and my three month mark is coming up soon. It's semi-easy work that I enjoy not only doing but the company of my co-workers as well, something I didn't have with my prior employer.
AS far as gaming goes things have and have not really changed. I haven't really done anything with my warhammer armies in months, though I did do a game vs a friend per his request with my wolves. I lost, but I put up a good fight and had fun. There are things I learned I need to dd to make them better, but I still like that theme and lists that I build almost a decade ago are still a challenge.
For online I've dropped from WoW and still playing Star Trek Online more often then not. My time for gaming is curtailed due to my lengthy time at work (around 14 hrs including travel time), but I still play. Same goes for TERA and DC Universe Online. I'd really like to play with others, but I find myself soloing more often. Later I'll post my contact info in case any watchers are interested in teaming up in game.
As for art I just haven't been feeling like working on it. I have a few sketches to work on, but just haven't had the urge to do so, which is sad since I really do want to practice and get better. I have a few gifts and commissions to post up, I really should post these soon.
I will be at Anthrocon for the most part, I do work friday, but at least I have off the 4th to get everyone in the room. I'll be roaming the con the rest of the time, just look for the black wolf tail and cane.
Anyway, thanks for listening and take care.

Dark Wind Return
Posted 12 years agoSo my friend finally convinced me to enter a tournament. So later today I'll be doing a Doubles tournament with my Tau. General rules are 1000 pts legal lists (Forgeworld allowed) and I'll be paired with a random person and we fight against another random pair, so 2K per side.
I decided on my Tau because it's the only army I feel comfortable using in the current edition, the list is basically one half my normal army with hopefully the right combination of units to keep the theme and still throw enough fire down field to cause my opponents issues.
So here's the list:
1000 Pts - Tau Empire Roster - Dark Wind - Doubles Tournament
HQ
Commander Shas'o - 141 pts
Cyclic Ion Blaster; Flamer; Hard-wired Drone Controller; Hard-wired Multi-Tracker; Missile Pod; 2 Shield Drones
Elite
Stealthsuit Squad - 172 pts
3 Stealthsuits - Targeting Array; Burst Cannon
1 Team Leader - Targeting Array; Hard-wired Target Lock; Fusion Blaster
Stealthsuit Squad - 90 pts
3 Stealthsuits - Burst Cannons
Troops
Fire Warrior Squad - 103 pts
7 Fire Warrior - Pulse Rifle x7
1 Shas'ui - Markerlight; Hard-wired Blacksun Filter; Pulse Rifle

Hammerhead Gunship - 170 pts

Total - 999 pts
26 Infantry and 3 Vehicles
I'll post a post-tourny report on sunday, hopefully with a picture or two included.
With me luck, For the Greater Good.

Posted 13 years ago1UP! for the kids.
Posted 13 years agoI'm on a mission to save kids through video games, and I need your help.
My local Children's Miracle Network Hospital treats thousands of children each year, regardless of their family's ability to pay. These kids are facing scary stuff like cancer, cystic fibrosis, and injuries from accidents to name just a few
On Oct. 20th, 2012, I'll attempt to play an epic 24 hour video game marathon which I will stream live. It's my sincere hope that you'll find it in your heart to support me with a one-time gift that will go directly to my hospital.
Your donation is tax-deductible and ALL PROCEEDS go to help kids.
Last year, Extra Life raised more than 1.2 million dollars to save kids, but in 2012 our goals, just like the needs of the kids we serve, are much, much higher.
I can't do this without your help. Donating online is safe and easy! To make an online donation please go to this link.
Thank you for caring for our kids!.
The stream is MMO themed, games include Star Trek Online, DC Universe and others (schedule pending)

The Great Clean-up
Posted 13 years agoWell I like it's about time I got organized, I mean I've only been in my home for over a year the basement has yet to be fully unpacked. So with the offer of a new painting/work space from a friend the idea popped. I need to start finishing projects (see prior journals for other attempts at this).
So as time goes on I will be cleaning the work spaces one table top at a time, and I will do my best to paint up one army at a time in 2000 pts lists. Since I'm to give a demo of the new 6th edition next weekend I plan to bring my Tau as they have a good mix of the new rules and it's built as a 2000 pts list so I'll have most of it done once I finish the list.

Total: 2001 pts, 58 models (4 flyers, 2 vehicles, 52 infantry)
I have all the mdels and they are built unless otherwise stated I need a bit of painting to do.
Wish me luck, I'm going to need it.

Apologies
Posted 13 years ago... to those that favorited and/or commented on the screenshots I posted just recently. Seems I didn't read fully through the AUP (which to be honest who does before they sign up), but it was brought to my attention that screen shots are against policy.
I have then removed them on my own accord to comply. Sorry about that.
For now I posted them onto my facebook page here for the for-see able future. Might at lease drop in a journal or two of my progress and any new posting there if interested.
Sorry for the inconvenience.

Life, troubles and hope
Posted 13 years agoIt's been a while since I last posted and since I was going to add some submissions soon I figure it would be a good idea to add a status update as well.
Home: The house is still standing and I took in a house guest:
tora87usagi, a Texan fur wanting to move the good old PA. After being on my own for just over a year and with my sister coming up next year I figured now would be a good time to see how I can handle a long term house guest.
Job: This is one of my trouble points, ie I don't have one. I left my position with CVS/Caremark last month due to medical reasons (more on that later). While I could have stayed and milked the disability system I really didn't feel right doing that to a company that has been good to me for almost five years. Now I'm looking into other positions that use my skills but hopefully will agree with my health a little better.
Health: To those that don't know I have a condition called Familial Periodic Paralysis. Originally this was controlled thru diet and a general calming mental state. I managed to keep the attacks down to one every few years or so. Earlier this year that number jumped to one every two weeks and then one every other day. It seems that the stress component changed from a minor trigger to the primary trigger and anyone in Customer Service knows it's a high stress job, especially after I got placed to deal with a few new clients who's members make pitbulls seem tame and cattle seem smart. Dumb and aggressive are not good traits to have and these guys had them in spades. The calls were in a sense, killing me. After a month away I only had one or two attacks, most due to major physical labour caused by trying to catch up on backed-up yard work. In time I hope I can get it back under full control.
Hope: There is light at the end of the tunnel here, while I was and still am in a sense, completely out of money things are looking up recently. Due to good advice from a friend of mine I finally filed for unemployment, and it looks like I can pay all my bills with it until I find work. I did however go into debt before starting, like the idiot I am. I'm calling in my 401K which due to the decent pay and long hours I put in will erase all my debt once it gets here (luckily in a few days). Also with the timely arrival of my house guest my food stores (which were in the danger levels) got replenished. Plus there is the extra help in utilities later on.
Gaming: Since the release of Season 6 of Star Trek Online, I've been buried in it with the projects of building a starbase. Just been finding the missions more fun now that I have a reason to grind out resources. Also I finally got the screen capture option to work on my gaming computer so i can get some hi-res images. Which I'll be posting over time as I get some choice shots done. This game has actually pulled me away from WoW which I really haven't played in a month or two. I already planned to allow my subscription to expire in November and just get a time card to use if I feel the need to return to Azaroth. In the case of 40K I really should paint some more but with the funds squeeze I haven't gotten the paints i want to use and I get wrapped up in STO to easily.
Social: I started going back to Tapestries, seems that with me being stuck at home for the most part until my employment status changes and my want to get back into writing I found it a good place to have fun and practice. Just looking around and playing with a few new furs has given me new ideas for characters and how to write in different situations. Now if I can just update my actions and descriptions with a better style I'll be set.
Well thanks for reading to the end for those that did.

So many projects so much procrastination
Posted 13 years agoAfter looking at the old pictures and files on my netbook I noticed I have more than a few unfinished projects. With my new work schedule effectively making my week a perma-cycle of work/home I figure it would be a good idea to get some things done, maybe even finish a job or two. *gasp*
One medium I’d like to do more of is writing and if things calm down at work I would have more time for it, heck the 40+ minutes I have to wait for the bus would be a good time as any, especially with my netbook on hand (once I get her running back up to par). Here’s a small list of what I’d like to have done in the coming months.
Welcome to Tryphan – This was a three chapter short story (or novella I believe is the correct term) about a captain and her small fleet versus the might of the Imperial navy. I had finished the first part and about half the second before dropping this one.
Sagas – After posting Leaders of the Pack I remembered I did in fact have a list of short story ideas for each of them, including a miniature version of the famed Blackmane series based around the rise in the ranks of one Deltric Thunderclaw. Who has been in my main army since I started playing almost a score ago.
Tales of the Wolf – A collection of short stories based on battles and character units of my Space Wolf armies, which I have some finished already, might start posting them soon after a small review.
Another larger project is to finally bring my marines and guard into the current additions, mostly it’s just some weapon swaps (wolves) and adding a model or 12 (IG sergeants).

Army of the Quarter
Posted 14 years agoGreeting fellow gamers and modelers,
It’s been a while since my last post, things have been busy and boring at the same time. While cleaning through my basement I noticed once again just how many models, projects and armies I have. Currently I have 10 different armies. I’d like to complete some of them but the question always remains as to what to do. Where to start?
To help in this rut I figured to bring back an old project called Army of the Quarter. The basic premise is that for three months I work and play with one army. So during that time I will do my best to include a bi-monthly report on my progress. This includes pictures, battle reports and fiction. So now which army to choose?
That is where you the viewer come in. For the next few weeks I’ll be taking polls to see what army you guys want to see more of.
Fangtar’s Raiders – My main Space Wolf army, I have to bring them in line with the current codex. For a special project I have the addition of a Venerable Dreadnaught. Example1, Example2
Black Wolves – My second Space Wolf army, this one is a drop pod assault based army. I have to bring them in line with the current codex as well. Example1, Example2
Steel Wolves – My third Space Wolf army with an anti-necron theme. As well as bringing them in line with the current codex I have to see if the tactics and gear can handle the new necrons as well. Army
Cordirn’s Knights – My grey knight army, also with an anti-necron theme (these and the Steel Wolves are by story part of the same company). Special project includes a new dreadnaught or a squad of ‘paladins’. Army
Dark Wind – My tau army, this one is based on the Tau from the DoW: Soulstorm video game, down to unit construction. Special project is looking like a skyray/hammerhead and/or broadsides. Example1, Example2
Hive Fleet Prodos – A tyranid army with a twist, in order to use a unit I have to have ‘unlocked’ them by devouring certain species. While I have to bring them in line with the current codex, I also have more genus to unlock. So how many can I unlock in three months, only time will tell.Example1, Example2
Guardians of Loetharian – My only fantasy army, a dryad/wood elf army. This needs the most work, generally I need to get and add my centaur spellsingers, treeman ad paint a large amount of dryads.
Imperial Guard – I’m going to create my regiment based on the last campaign (Molov V), the infantry is going to be a mixed sex regiment as well thanks to the inclusion of a platoon a female guardsmen models. Army
Crusading Marines – I had thought of this for a while, but to do a codex marine army with units from different chapters to give it an interesting flavor. Based around the Blood Ravens I had done I’ll be scraping together a lethal force of marines from my spare parts of my wolves and the many blackreach sets I have gathered.
Orks – They have served me well this campaign but it is time to let them sleep for the time being. They are excluded from the project this round.

Army

Doom of Malik in spore pod
Mission was secure and control with four objectives, I didn’t even have to deal with the bugs until turn two and they arrived piece meal during the game allowing time to wipe out his units one at a time. However in the end he won due to tactical (he held two objectives to my one) since I was busy killing bugs and not thinking of the mission.
I was happy with the army in general, played it like an ork and got to kill a large amount of MCs for little lose (I still had most of my army minus the slugga boys and the battle wagon). Just sucked that I lost the mission, but hell this list has lots of killy, just have to hope for annihilation missions.

*sniffs* Smells like battle, tastes like chicken.
Posted 14 years agoSo I get request this weekend while my friends are helping move another piece of furniture.
"So want to run another campaign?"
*sigh* Well the Molov V campaign didn't finish too well but that was due to it going too long and I couldn't keep up with the reports to be honest. I told the guys that I will help run another campaign if some else ran it.
So we are getting together this Thursday to go over the basics.
I was planning on having a voting journal to decide what army I work on since I now have desk space but with this coming up there was only one choice: ORKS!!!!
So instead I'm going to get those few watches I have the chance to help me make history since my orks have none really. I need help in naming these things, especially the warbosses.
I'm going to have three major HQs. Currently only one is fully done, the other two still need work.
They are going to be the following:
Warboss on foot - powerclaw, shoota/scorcha and the works. (Basically the blackreach boss model)
Big Mek on foot - custom forcefield, choppa, 'eavy armour (custom force field is a few captured tau shield drones)
Warboss on bike/buggy - powerklaw and whatever I can bolt onto his ride. I got an old war buggy model and I'm going to convert it into his ride.
I'll post pictures as time goes on as well as some fiction if I get the time.

Another few months, another update
Posted 14 years agoWell it's been a fun but exhausting few months.
For projects I managed to get my house, not the group home I was planning on, but a home none the less.
My first attempt at fursuiting failed, the guy tried hard, but the time crunch greatly effected his work. Hopefully given time he'll do better on his part as I'm out-sourcing parts to different artist.
Until I get my desks later this month things are still slow on the miniature front. But I have several projects still on the docket. Including:
Painting the Enterprise E
Painting my 'nids.
Bring my Grey Knights to current standard
Bring my wolves to standard
Paint a legal part of my Tau army
Anthrocon was a blast, I spent more money then I should of, but once they arrive it will be worth it. My future commissions will be of my gaming characters (of which one from AC was) to give my gallery a bit of flavor.

And we're back....
Posted 14 years agoBeen a while since I last wrote in this, figured it was time for an update.
All things considering life is flowing like a calm river, was a little rough this week but things are settling down again. I’m still crashing at my friend’s place, I’ve been financially shaky for the last few months, living paycheck to paycheck as I gathered my wits and got my resources in place for this year. Now I’ve started gathering the needed funds for the biggest and first project of the year: Homeownership.
Hopefully I can find, buy and move in by the end of March. I already have housemates lined up so filling the place is going to be easy.
On the gaming end I’ve taken a break from warhammer, I haven’t as much picked up a brush in months. Last game I played was the New Years Rumble at the Geekadrome. Played with my armoured company and killed(Might include a picture or two later). Prize was a free battleforce, not needing anymore models I worked out a trade for 4 of Black library’s Audio books instead.
I’ve been getting involved in DnD and mostly WoW, working on my worgens. I got into weekly dungeon runs with two of my friends and it was interesting working with them making the runs. Not to mention we are all in the same guild so it was nice not being the odd one out (I seem to attact other guild groups like a moth to flame).
Next up after the house to get ready to for AC, I have a few ideas for who to have make my suit, just need to hear back from one of them first. I also already ready secured one of the suites at the Westin. I planned on offering space there for furs here on FA, but that will be in another journal.
Other than that I also wanted to start my month support of the arts. Basically once a month I will commission one artist on FA for a piece of work. Below is a list of those I have already commissioned for the next few months:
January – Lady_Moonpelt for her awesome scott pilgrim icon
Febuary – Naira for a feral shaman via her Iron Artist call out
March – Venigsun for a realistic pawtrait
April – Keyoki for a reference sheet
I’ll grab one more for May, but June through the end of the year might be taken at AC, depending on funds.
Well that’s it for this update. I’ll see about getting those pictures and the announcement for the suite spots posted this week.
P.S.- does anyone know how to add icons in journals?

Finally joined the modern age
Posted 15 years agoYesterday I lost my phone on the bus. To retrieve it would have been much more of a hassle the I could handle.(ie getting a ride to the farthest of the bus garages) Instead I buckled down and got a new phone, Spirit's EVO. So I now have an internet phone.
This hopefully will help me more then hinder, but only time will tell.
The fact I typed this entry while on my lunch walk is just sweet. Laters

Anthrocon '10
Posted 15 years agoWhile this is a bit late to ask, I was wondering if anyone reading this might be going to Anthrocon this year? And of those that are do you want to meet up and hang for a few before/during/after the con?
Project update
Posted 15 years agoWell I finally broke down and purchased a Valkyrie (even though I shouldn't have). This is going to be a set up from my hammerhead/skyray conversion since I want to prep this for the FW conversion for the buggy transport. So I have to get the transport bay to be removable, plus I want to do a full weapons swap so I can have it be a Vendetta as well. In all this will use a crap ton of magnets and I have to check the structure for this is I also want to fully paint this bird, inside and out.
I’ll see if I can get some pictures later, but I should have most of the parts done by morning as a lack of sleepiness has me and I figure why waste it.
(On a side note I wish my connection was better at home so I could play WoW during nights like these. I doubt I’ll use my 5 credit hrs on Wednesday)
