What a fucking year.
Hope you're well.

Artist Woes (Not my own)
Posted 12 years ago.
OH WOW. Some artists yo.
I was just in a stream watching a popular artist with a very chibi cell-shaded-like style in pastel-ish colors, an OH LORDY was it a bag of laughs.
For example! The commissioner noticed that the collar the artist added on their own volition seemed to blend in with the markings and requested the color changed to stand out, and the attached pendant to be changed to a silver bell.
Haha, the poor artist said they couldn't change the color now that the layers had been merged. Do you have any idea how easy it is to duplicate out a selection onto a different layer, or even to work within a selection boundary in SAI using paint bucket and color difference parameters? Suuuuper easy!
At least the artist made it a bell, but as for making it silver essentially went "Nah, it looks better this color," and ignored them!
I felt bad for the customer, but couldn't help laugh at how inflexible and set in their own ways the artist is! It was so disfunctionally terrible, and the way they half-listened-half-ignored the customers requests showed an extreme disregard for the commissioner and an extremely poor business ethic.
5/10, would not commission.

Well. I caught something from Furballs Strike 9.
I am immediately canceling plans to attend events for the weekend.
I am unable to make the money needed to go due to illness, and do not wish to spread the illness.
I'm really sad I'm missing my anniversary meet with Furlife. It's been a whole year!
If I feel up to it, I'll try to make some more progress on the last icon I have to do. Keep an eye out for a stream announcement either Sat or Sun. I've been so busy lately, and even though I feel like shit, now would be as good a time as any to get some work done.
Have fun everyone!

*Sigh*
It feels good to be home again, after over a week of being away.
I'll be streaming narunonaru's icon tomorrow (later today).
That is after I pressure wash the deck.
Keep an eye out for a journal announcing what time I'll be streaming.
This song never fails to give me chills. No wonder, it's the language of my ancestors.

Well, I'm in Canada right now hanging with my mate.
I was planning on having a lot of down time to complete all the icons I'm being commissioned, and expected to get a lot more done sooner, but life, random encounters, and chance opportunities said differently.
I attended a bonfire on the main land Friday, the 50th anniversary of the worlds fair Saturday, made my way home with a friend and cleaned my house Sunday, had another friend come over, visited matrices, and went Geocaching Monday, did more Geocaching, dropped my friends off at the ferry, and then drove to Canada Tuesday.
So... yeah. I may do a short international stream tonight, but then again I might get distracted so don't count on it.
Looks like this weekend is going to be busy as well. ETA when I'll be able to have a large chunk of time to myself to broadcast work on the running icons is... Monday? I feel moderately good about Monday.
In other news I've been inspired by some of the fan art lychee drew of one of my subjects in Biohazard Level Zero (image here) to get some more progress finished on Svetlana's Ref and work on some more character creation.
That's all for now.
Green Day Know Your Enemy, misheard lyrics AMV style.
Enjoy.

So! Opened for Run Chibi Run Icons last night! Learning from my previous mistakes, I'm only doing a batch of five this time, because I can't predict when I'll have loads of free time or none at all.
There are only three slots left in this batch! Click here to get one!
In other news, I have my mini-fridge plugged in, and it's working perfectly. Things are starting to come together for making the place nice to have friends over, I estimate I'll be done by Monday.
In a few minutes I'm heading off to go hang out with some friends in Marysville, and then will be attending the meetup for the 50th Anniversary of the Worlds fair tomorrow. Kinda excited, but don't know what to expect. I've heard that there will be a few members of Furlife that will be attending their first meet at this event.
Once I get back from my weekend getaway, work will resume on narunonaru's icon, and will be sending a note & invoice to 3starguy about your icon..
Here's two videos for today.
This one always makes me think of a past flame or two.
And here's a soundscapy one.
*Runs off to shower and dash out the door*

Well, the past few weeks have been rather busy.
To anyone that has been waiting on icons, I apologize, I feel terrible for the wait you've been through, I thank you sincerely for your patience, and starting tomorrow I will be making a big push to finish as many as I can as quickly as I can. In the future I'll probably not open up for more than 5 at a time... @___@
About two weeks before Sakuracon, my buddy Jim came over to my house and helped me tackle the 2nd bedroom that had for years functioned only as an overstuffed storage room. He helped me sort and empty boxes from when my father and I had moved into the house several years ago and never got around to unpacking due to lack of motivation and not making the time. Most of it turned out to be give away and garbage, and I found three giant boxes of old clothing, 90% of which I am likely to give away. I look forward to going through it when I return from Seattle.
What is important is that we got the couch unburied, the desk reassembled, and the TV and other electronics moved from my bedroom into what has been renamed the entertainment room. It only needs a few more hours of sorting, moving, and cleaning before it is ready to have friends over. I'm very excited. I'm also excited that my dream for the bedrooms is starting to solidify.
Originally I wanted one room for spending time playing, watching movies, and using the internet in, and another with nothing but books, clothes and my bed for relaxing and sleeping. That never happened because we had so much junk from the move that one was commandeered for storage purposes. Now that it's starting to come together, I'm starting to look at upgrading the size of my bed. Right now I only have a twin, which is a little small when Jasper comes to visit.
Fortunately I already have a full size futon mattress that previously belonged to my brother back from when I lived with my mother and was going to high school. It's been in storage, but it's been protected from day zero with a hypoallergenic mattress case, so it should be fine. What's even better is that it has a three inch memory foam mattress topper. The awesome part about this is that it costs about $100-$150 online, I don't have to pay a penny for it, and it makes the mattress feel 10x softer. :D
So, hoping to get my father to buy me a nice full size bed frame and accent night stand(s?) as a birthday present.
OH THAT'S RIGHT.
It was my 22nd birthday on the 5th. :D
I was so happy I got to spend my birthday weekend with Jasper. She came down on Wednesday the 4th, and stayed all weekend with me for my birthday and Sakuracon before leaving earlier today.
Man Sakuracon was exhausting for some reason. More so than usual. Too bad I missed preregistration and had to wait for four and a half hours in line just to get my badge. By the time I got my badge and into the convention space, I was tired and had missed all the interesting panels I wanted to go to that day.
The rest of the con was pleasant enough. We stayed at Ed's dorm each night of the con, and even though I brought along mats to sleep on it was still rather uncomfortable on the floor. (I just fell asleep in front of my computer for a few hours while composing this. So much nicer to be in a real bed again.) At ed's dorm we ended up sleeping in each day until about 2pm, so it was a very lazy year at the con for me. Got to hang out with a bunch of other furries, and ran into some old friends, one of which I never expected to speak to again, let alone have them seek me out.
Today I saw Jasper off on her bus home to Canada, and drove around uselessly. I forgot stuff behind at people's places, but did not realize until I was most of the way home and had to turn around. Anyone else do that? So although I was planning on going home and getting icons done tonight, I ended up driving my sisters to and from Taekwondo practice and am spending the night in Seattle. I am not looking forward to getting up early in time to make my dentist's appointment. I'm getting two fillings, one of which I've needed for the past two years when I didn't have insurance. Fortunately it had no major change in such a long time.
Tomorrow I will be home, and after the dentist appointment I'll finish as many icons as I can, which will depend on how I'm feeling after the appointment.
Oh, and I didn't spend much time in the AMV theater this year, or see the contest, which I was bummed about, but oh well. However I did see the "AMV's that made us buy the music" category, so here's one which has a really damn good groove. Possibly one of the best dance AMV's I have seen to date. Hope you enjoy~
*clap* He-YAH!

2401st Kiriban Rules
Posted 13 years ago.
Okay, posting the rules for my 2401st Kiriban.
To win, you must:
1. take a screen-shot of my 2401st page-view
2. screen-shot must contain start-bar clock showing seconds
3. upload to favorite photo hosting site, and leave in a comment here. Do not note me.
Screen-shots not containing a start-bar clock showing seconds are not valid entries, and are ineligible to win.
Only one player may win. Winner will be determined by the date and time of screen-shot. Contest ends 86401 seconds from the date and time displayed within the first valid screen-shot. Recent winners may not win again.
The Prize!
The winner of the Kiriban will earn one Cameo for a character that they own in my story, Biohazard Level Zero. By submitting a screenshot, you agree to the following terms and conditions:
The winner must own the rights and concept to the character.
The character must be an Original Character.
If sex of the character is ambiguous, an original sex must be specified (male or female).
The universe consists of humans. "Furry" or anthropomorphic creatures have not evolved alongside humanity. However medical technology has advanced significantly, and people with enough money can modify their bodies in any way they want, allowing rich members of the anthropomorphic and therian societies of this universe to realize their ultimate dream.
Any characters you submit will be similar in name and physical description only. I reserve the right to modify all aspects of the character as I see fit for inclusion into the universe. This may include but is not limited to the following: Changing or picking an occupation, heavily modifying or discarding back story and history to fit the universe, mild to significant alteration of personality, and removal of paranormal or superhuman abilities. Any elements or aspects of the character not specified will be selected or fabricated by me.
If I feel the character is too difficult or impossible to incorporate into the universe and story (anromorph bats are an example of this) then I reserve the right to request an alternate character. If none is suitable or available, the winner will be allowed to select someone else's character with written permission from the character owner. If none is provided, the second most recent submission will be selected and the process will repeat until a suitable character is found.

So the past week hasn't been very productive. Until today.
I've mostly been out of the house. I attended a furmeet, traveled to my mother's, then traveled alllll the way to Canada to spend time with my sweetheart for her birthday, which was on the 21st. Had a wonderful time.
Getting there was a bit of a fiasco. I made it all the way to the border before realizing I left my passport, the ONE CRITICAL possession I needed, at home. Normally it's only about a 2.5 hour drive, which is a piece of cake. Well. Driving there, back, and then there again ballooned my driving time from 2.5 hours to about 6. UGH. Thankfully my dad was kind enough to meet me halfway at deception pass to relay the passport to me, which saved me an hour or two off of what would have been a 7-8 hour drive.
Needless to say, I'm NOT letting this happen again.
Velux's running icon is 80% complete, and will be completed tomorrow. I got three frames completed today. Total time on this icon is estimated at 5+ hours. I apologize for the delay. The icons are very time intensive, regardless of shortcuts, due to coloring most of each of the four frames pixel-by-pixel.
Borrowed Jasper's drawing tablet since she wasn't using it. My level of drawing is horrid (oh look at these stick figures!) so you won't see much drawn "art," but I will try my hand at some photo-manipulation and maybe doing some color work using public domain templates.
Work is (slowly) progressing on Biohazard Level Zero. I still am brainstorming scenes involving Jasper, Saisha, and the most recent winner of my kiriban. So far I have the locations picked out, a strip club and an ancient themed (by timeline standards) 50's drive-in diner for Jasper and Saisha respectively. Character development, a critical aspect for me to continue writing the primary plot, is advancing nicely. Be on the lookout for crude ref sheets for some of the Biohazard characters. Expect large censored sections.
I have the sudden urge to play this song on a DDR game.

Help me name a city!
Posted 13 years ago.
Alright peeps, I need your help naming a few cities.
In Biohazard Level Zero, the world is based loosely off this one. It's not our planet, but it's like ours with medical technology, computers, and weapons a couple hundred years more advanced than ours.
There is one governing body/nation. There used to be three, but they no longer exist. The details are classified. Sorry.
Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is as follows:
List a series of names that you think would sound good for the following locations:
(note what location type you are naming)
Towns.
Cities.
Capitals.
Mountain Ranges.
Lakes.
Rivers.
Oceans.
And other areas of land.
Establishments are welcome as well. Restaurants, strip clubs, arcades, etc.
I don't care if the names sound old, if they sound futuristic or sciency. They can even be named after people you know or people who don't exist. I just need a lot of them, with a focus towards Cities and Towns.
List as many as you want.
Post as many times as you like. Try to group the names together tough, so no making lots of posts containing only one name.
I don't have any prizes other than my eternal gratitude and the satisfaction of knowing you participated in naming a major landmark in my story.
If you choose to signal boost, you get even more love and eternal gratitude.
Thanks in advance.

Bleh. My sleep schedule has inverted. That is being fixed tonight. So... Only an 8 hour day for me today! Ugh. TT__TT
In other news, I'm excited for the weekend. Going to get out of this wonderful yet secluded house, hang out with some awesome fuzzbutts I haven't seen in a while, and just generally have a fantastic time.
Progress is advancing on the icons. I'm still working on Velux's. There are 28 layers in total and it took me a long time to get the placement of the wings right. Total work on the icon has passed 3+ hours. Placement of the coloring is in progress. I never realized how hard it is to draw pixelated diagonal zig-zag and curved lines that look good before. Mad respect to all sprite artists everywhere. Ever. Of all time.
Biohazard Level Zero is also advancing. I've developed a mechanism I can insert anthropomorphic "beings" into my story. So for my next Kiriban, the winner will receive a cameo in my story. Somehow. The rules for the Kiriban Contest, and the limits of my ability to insert your character into the story will be detailed in this journal.
Shout out to keeko-chan, looks like instead of a weekly song, I'm doing "Update AMV." I need help coming up with a better name though.

I'm so impatient for the summer and warmer weather. ;n;

Uuuuuuugh. My head.
Ow.
Gonna go straight to bed after this. Stayed up way too late last night playingMinecraft the game that will consume hours of your life with
and
. Like sun coming up late.
Kinda burned myself out a bit there. Saturday was a long day for me. But that's a good thing because it was filled with awesome! Hung out with Lychee pretty much all day. Watched Adventure Time and Panty and Stocking. Obsessed over the clues and hints in the backgrounds of Adventure Time hinting at the fact the world takes place in a really twisted post-disaster world, and fangasmed over the drawing and animation style in Panty & Stocking. It was great fun, especially the walk around town we took to stretch our legs.
I took a bunch of pictures of concrete and wooden surfaces, textures for use as overlays to make drawings less smooth. You can have it, here. http://www.mediafire.com/?pequfxhn719a3p0
The thing I'm most excited about which came about from the visit with Lychee is progress on Biohazard Level Zero. Hammering out more what normal society would look like outside the facility, what level of medical technology does this world have, how available is that technology to the public, what kinds of weapons, etc. She also told me a lot about something she's working on, and we bounced ideas off each other a lot. So it was a really productive day for the both of us concept wise.
So yea.
Gonna get some sleep soon, take a pain pill (pills here!), chillax while watching Lychees livestream, and jot down some notes for what I brainstormed on Saturday.
Edit: To all of you waiting on icon commissions, I will be live-streaming work on them tomorrow night (technically tonight, 3/12/12). I have not abandoned you!
Oh hey, look another AMV.
Yeah. I'm a total perv. I liked the song. Strawberries.

So tonight has kinda been a recovery night for me. Just relaxing and stuffs. Brainstorming and doing a bit of writing.
For those of you waiting on icon commissions from me, thank you for your patience, I am working through my backlog as quickly as I can, while maintaining my social life.
Been brainstorming a character. Got inspired by this and this. Gives you an idea of what she's gonna be about/ look like. Gonna be pretty wicked. I'll be releasing the details of the character and maybe draw her a ref sheet/have someone draw her later.
I'm probably gonna incorporate her into my story. Have her be a test subject that survived the growth and modification process, but is not fit for duty bec- whoops, almost gave that away there.
So yeah. Hope everyone up in Vancou-Fur is having fun, or that you had fun if you read this when you get back home. Wish I could have gone, but alas lack of a job will prevent people form doing certain things. Here's hoping I can scrape together some funds to attend Sakura-Con. And find a job.
Gonna go jog back and forth from my house to the mailbox. Get my blood pumping. I've been sitting in this chair for too long.
I may livestream later out of sheer boredom. Nope, gonna go to sleep eventually instead. Gotta get up early tomorrow.
.
(Gratuitous fan-service is gratuitous. Yet so delicious.)

You don't have the whole story on Kony 2012
Posted 13 years ago.
Actually. Nobody has the whole story on Kony.
You should check out Hoots journal if you already haven't seen it.
Do your research. Look at the bigger picture. The documentary only shows a small portion of what is happening.

I know plotting when I see it. That's plotting.

See? They're down there, messing with the radio.
Oh, so that's what they're doin'.
Yeah. They must be plotting something.
Or, maybe they're just listening to the radio.
I know plotting when I see it. That's plotting.
Maybe they're scheming.
No scheming looks different. That's definitely plotting. They're gonna try something.
Hmm. Should probably write some story today.
I'm bored with my Biohazard Level Zero story splash image. And I feel like making something for myself.
Hmm.
I wonder if a .GIF would animate in the preview sector of text submissions.
Oh hoh hoh hoh. If this works this is gonna be so cool.

So, pretty excited. Going up to Canada to see Jasper. We're going to go see the Telus World of Science tomorrow.
I've had some success finding jobs that are hiring on the island, now I'm just playing the waiting game. One is at a lawnmower/chainsaw repair shop, and another is at a local pizzeria.
Work has stalled on Biohazard Level Zero. I've not been feeling very creative lately. Had a lot of stress and troubles on my mind. I'm not forcing myself to work on the story since that will kill my passion and creativity. It's coming along, just much more slowly than I would like. Still no content that is actually ready to publish. I'll start nudging my focus in that area. Try to see what I can come up with.
In the mean time, I've been working on doing some other projects. Just for fun kind of things. I'm decent at photo manipulation, but one of my favorite things to do is cut up and re-design images. I had a lot of fun making the gallery preview for my Ref sheet (go check it out). So I've been doing similar things.
I'm re-animating Jasper's banner for her IMVU product store, did some recolors, tweaks, and touch ups to a skin design she made, and working on a few other surprises for some people.
Oh, exdraghunt was the winner of the 666 Kiriban. Wooo~ Still don't know what I'm going to do/make for ya, but yay you won!
My 777th kiriban is coming up soon. I need suggestions on interesting ideas for prizes for these things. I'm thinking about photo/image manipulation, and/or banner/icon design. I need ideas people! Keep an eye out for the winning pageview!
Oh, and one last thing. I FUCKING LOVE Anime Music Videos. It's kinda my main way I find new music. And its entertaining to see what people come up with, taking a song and images from one or many animes and throwing them together. Sometimes they're heart wrenching, sometimes they're really cool, generally they are amazing. http://www.animemusicvideos.org/ is my main source, and in my opinion the BEST source, for AMVs. Here's one I found recently that seemed pretty neat.
JESUS JUST LOOK AT THE LIP SYNCHING AND THE TIMING OF THIS VIDEO.
This guy decided to up the ante on the lipsync methodology this time primarily by drawing his own mouth positions (s, l, th, f, o, etc).
These extra positions almost never existed and they had to draw over 100 new mouths. You can find the link to the video @ animemusicvideos.org here.

In other news, I have not made any progress on Biohazard. Life had other ideas.
In short, I'm out of work. Main focus has shifted to finding a job on the mainland of the Island.
Because I have no source of income, all plans to attend future cons have been immediately CANCELED until further notice.
Attendance at Furlife events will depend heavily on my ability to obtain public transport or carpool, and inexpensive or free methods of obtaining food. I am no longer in Seattle on a regular basis.
I'm still interested in going to local events and parties, so if you know something happening, and can get in touch with me a day or two in advance, I can make it happen somehow.

Unfortunately, I do not have any new content to post. Re-evaluating my writing style, I have realized I need to do some serious planning in the story. I do not have an overarching outline, I do not have a set plot path/sub-triangles, and I do not have even partial character profiles.
At this point, what I have currently released and the current path of writing does little more but raise more questions and intrigue, build the species and world, but does not further the plot.
What with work and friends over the weekend, I had no time to myself to get some serious progress towards completing something to publishing quality. I expect to have/make more free time come Monday, and hopefully will have another snippet posted by Wednesday at the latest.
Then the serious planning begins. Unfortunately, this will all be happening under TOP SECRET security clearances behind closed doors. You won't really notice the impact of my effort until about the 9th document or so.
Stay tuned.

Finally Home

I've had a very interesting couple weeks. New, and I'll admit... unexpected, experiences. Got to see some close friends again, some of whom I haven't seen in a very long time.
I've been away from home for a very VERY long time (several weeks), spending the nights at friends houses, my mother's, or in hotels. So it is VERY nice to be able to sit at my own desk, and lay in my own bed again.
Now that my life has slowed down a bit, I will continue re-drafting the work I already have done, yet not released for Biohazard Level Zero. Between work, friends, writers block and reshuffling of events within the story, it's been a challenge, but I'm starting to get some clarity.
I'll be posting more within the week.
