Some folks have been lamenting my leaving.

It's where I post WIP's and ask for feedback on products, and sketches, and sculptures.
We are also planning on having horror movie nights. Some will be open mic, so people can commentate, others will be closed mic, so we can silently watch and use a text chat to talk, so the movie will be uninterrupted. Oh, and eat movie snacks!

There's also an art share, so if you find a good, nightmare inducing monster somewhere out there on the internet, you can share it with fellow monster appreciators!

So, I'm working on a unique collaboration project, and I'm working on some masks. I'm personally rather excited about them!!!

But.... I can see selling them being a problem....

Is there a niche corner of the world where horror themed masks might be of interest to some folks?

Whew. I am finally back home from my adventures.

I've been thinking about my next projects, and what I want to build. I have a few designs lined up, but something occurred to me and made me curious.
I want to make monsters..... and Halloween, while pretty far away, is coming. In order to be ready, I should start exploring the scary monster factors that I want to create.

SO!

What monsters or creatures scare you? WHY do they scare you? Are they mostly human? Are they completely unrecognizable? Do they move in an odd manner? Is it the sharp teeth, and scary claws, or is it the knife in his hand? Does it have pupils, or is it blind, or does it even have eyes at all? Is it symmetrical? Does it have a name? Is it from something we've seen before, or is it one of your personal nightmares?

I want to figure out what would be popular, but also interesting. What qualifies something as horror? Blood? Missing parts? The creature itself, or the props it has?

I want to dissect what makes a monster scary. What makes you run up the basement stairs a little faster towards the end?

Hello!
My name is Kierstin, I am currently a self-employed artist, working out of Las Vegas, Nevada. My goal is to show my creativity, and make creatures not realized before, or inspired by others. They could come in the form of concept art illustrations, or fully completed makeups and sculptures.

I do take mask commissions but as a full time artist I can only take on a few projects at a time, so this depends largely on availability. I open commission slots periodically, so keep your eyes open for announcements on when I'm available for commissions here, or at my other locations, linked on my main page.

Please understand that my style and genre is quite unique and different, according to the style featured in my gallery. I love creature design and work in a realistic and detailed style. I enjoy making even the strangest creatures seem believable through their anatomical features. If you would like to hire me for a project, please send an email so that I can assess the proposal.
Note: I recognize that due to my unique style, my work may not be fitting for a lot of folks. I am willing to do redesigns so that the idea fits in better with the rest of my work, if the client is willing to allow artistic liberty. This can sometimes result in commissioning a new reference image.
