The Halloween dance will be at Whines and Corby's place this year, starting up after the candy-mongering kids dry up.

EJ did it! We're on and in a proper ballroom this time. WOOHOO!

EJ is working on getting a full-sized ballroom for the dance this time...more once we're definite! It'll probably be around the start of next month, we're thinking 9/4? More once it's definite!

Looks like we're gonna continue to have bad weather this week, so it's possible that Eeyore's will get pushed back to its rain date--the next weekend if I remember correctly.

Good to see many of y'all there, it was a nice crowd! The Furry Fiesta table was the de facto furry hangout spot, that was amusing. :)

Lots of cosplayers, maybe a half dozen suiters, and a nice turnout for the dance.

Sable's panel on furries was PACKED (in a large panel room!) and well-received!

Okay, time to buckle down and make stuff happen. I'd like to schedule a meeting sometime midweek to get together and brainstorm about some charity-related activities...in particular some for our charity of choice (Pets Alive) but others as well.

This is not to plan furry social events (I think that base is covered) but work for nonprofits promoting good causes.

I know a lot of you have some good ideas...let's make them happen! :)

Give me a holler and we'll work on picking a time. Tylenn works weekends so weekday evenings are good for him.

Austin's first LGBTetc gaming convention is this weekend. Not a furry con per se but the organizers are trying hard to be inclusive and I know several folks are planning on attending, some in costume.

There will be a dance! Corbeau and Edgewise will be DJing.

If you just want to socialize/dance, they'll be letting people in for 5$ after 10pm. It is 18+.

Lauren and I will be that the Furry Fiesta table, say hi! :)

There -will- be a dance, and Corbeau and Edgewise will be DJ'ing along with Kinney. (no relation to the coyote)

We'll bring the high-speed fans so if you want to dress up and dance you'll have a way to cool off even though there isn't a headless lounge per se. :)

Havencon is a new LGBTQIA gaming-themed con that is starting up in Austin for the first time next month:

They're making an effort to be furry and fursuiting friendly, that's a good thing! There will be a booth for Texas Furry Fiesta there and a few of us will be playing booth babes at it. Aside from that there are a few locals who intend to go in costume.

So...we'll see! No idea what to expect but it seems like a friendly bunch of folks!

For those who haven't been, it's a great Austin outdoor festival in Pease Park, near-ish to UT campus and Whole Foods. Crazy costumes are on topic and the crowd seems to really like them!

I'll get in contact with the park about the possibility of setting up a tent or something for changing into and out of fursuit...park bathrooms or port-a-potties are not ideal for that. :J

If you're interested in going as part of a group let me know...it would be valuable to have some handlers and folks to keep an eye on stuff. But even if not I suggest you swing by, it's a great celebration of Austin weirdness and totally free unless you load up on turkey legs and beer!

Edit2: From the organizer: "Come and visit me on the games stage in the center of the park (where the costume contests and egg toss are run from.) We can definitely find a spot that you can change at. Even one with privacy if you need."

Just a reminder that we're on for Friday the 13th. Couples will be gently and affectionately mocked. :) Last event before Texas Furry Fiesta, whoo!

One more reminder for people like me who need lots of reminders. I woke up thinking to was today, thank goodness we still have a week! :)

Ikkicon is coming up, and Austinites Pupcake and TacoFreedom will be running panels at it!

I've never been myself but I hear that it's very costume-friendly, and I see there are evening dances...that gets my attention. :)

I actually -just- heard about this, but Zonaton pointed out that Realmscon is this weekend in Corpus Christi and is apparently going. He's looking for roomates (perhaps cutting it a little close!) so if you're going there and need one, talk to him! :)

Sarkiran will be joining us, woot!

My only remaining question marks are how we'll deal with getting the costumes around. In a perfect world there would be some sort of costuming area at the con, but...no idea, never been to one of this kind of con! Well, we'll figure it out.

We'll also be a little low on handlers, and Corby has told me that he's going to be a really terrible one. |) If we trade off on who is dressing up we should be okay though.

Also, gonna remember to print out that email from the event coordinator of the convention center that says we have permission to cover our faces, dammit!
