Happy New Year!
I've hardly worked on any art at all for a long time. Despite having some long-running commissions. It's getting ridiculous. So I'm giving myself a deadline.
If I haven't completed and uploaded at least one of those commissions by the start of February, it will be clear that I'm still in no position to work on art commissions. It isn't fair to take money for a service I am unable to provide. If it comes to that, I will make the effort to refund everyone involved.
Despite that, life is going very well! I am busy beyond belief in a good way and finally becoming a more happy and healthy individual again. If I was less busy, then I'd be in the right mental state to be on top of art again.
I hope everyone is well

Skype is old. Add my Discord!
Posted 9 years agoHello!
Just a quick message to inform you I'm not dead and am doing fine! Just busy of course ><
So Skype sucks these days and I hardly touch it anymore. The few times I do sign in, hardly anyone is online! So now the best place to chat with me is on Discord.
Fowlgon#9641 <---Add this thingy to your friends list to fulfill all your discord dreams! (#number was previously 0879 but I saw someone else with the number and we tried to be twins. It gave me a new number)
The other places you can best contact me in general is here on FA (I always check) and also on Facebook. Everyone is free to add me there! -My Facebook-
Hope everyone is doing well at the moment! I'm always happy to chat or talk arty things etc :)
Keep smiling

Rising from the ashes! Here comes a new fowlgon
Posted 9 years agoHello!
Things are changing. I got a new job! Working as a picture framer, printer, graphic designer at the local framing shop. It's a hugely successful business, so I'm in a very stable situation at the moment.
It's pretty clear I have been doing terribly with art this year. It has been constant backlogs for 15 months. Every time I got close to clearing it, new bills came in and I had to fill up again. The backlog really overwhelmed me. Most days I couldn't even look at photoshop without feeling overcome with responsibility and breaking down. Apart from being really busy with my outside life at the same time. I couldn't even perform everyday tasks without feeling guilty. "I have to get back to my art!" Then I would stare at the screen, unable to work on the art. This happened because I initially took on too many art projects. Bit off more than I could chew. It was a constant battle to keep up, and the pressure was too much.
Now that I have some income entering the bank, the problem is solved! I have contacted many clients and will refund most of my commissions. There are only three images left to complete. These are:
-Full illustration snow scene with a black jaguar
-The 14 character action poster YCH (Progress)
-A 30x40cm acrylic painting of a forest ambush
They will all be very fun to work on and will be higher tier pieces. They should be portfolio quality.
It was a hard thing to approach clients and admit defeat. I was afraid to anger and disappoint people. I didn't want to keep them waiting forever either. But in the end, everyone has been very understanding and supportive! A huge weight and burden has been lifted!
The last thing I have left to do is to re-establish the romance in art. I need to love it and feel excited by it again. Therefore I will do some art studies and personal art for a few days. Once my art is beautiful again and the love returns, I will be able to finish the last three commissions and return to good health!
Thank you all for being so understanding and helpful. The furry community really can be the most incredible place!
TL;DR:
-I got a new job
-I had backlog for 15 months
-The burden was crippling
-Now I can refund art
-I need to do art studies before the remaining three commissions

Aftermath and Alternative Websites!
Posted 9 years agoHello!
So the last 6 days before the crash had been very active for my account. I'd just gained 32 watchers and uploaded 8 submissions. After the attack though, that has now gone. Back below 500 watchers.
So how did YOU fare from it all? D= Hope it turned out ok for everyone else
Also, now is a good time to share where else to find my work! I'm just as active there, but relatively unknown in those places with the exception of facebook and furry network. It would be super great and very appreciated if you'd like to join me there and help build up a following in other places! :D
Facebook (also my personal account, but I'm happy to be facebook friends!)
Furry Network (121 promotes)
DeviantArt (only 29 watchers)
Weasyl (only 14 followers)
Picarto (37 followers)
ArtStation (only 12 followers)
Twitter (44 followers)
On a final note, shout out to
AraEquinox for helping me gain the new watchers, now lost! Check out her work and tell her fowlgon sent ya!
Have a good one fuzzbutts! ^^

Dealing with life
Posted 9 years agoHey everyone!
Just thought now would be a good time to update on how I'm doing in life and art at the moment. A lot of big things happening.
Biggest news is in regards to my mother's health. (Skip this paragraph if you aren't interested.) She had been getting worse and worse with her gut issues. After a hospital check-up on the 18th April, she was told that she would be admitted and couldn't go home that night. They did a CT scan on her that night and put her on the emergency list for a large invasive operation. She was extremely terrified of the operation and took a lot of convincing to go through with it. The next morning, she went into surgery and was sliced from chest to groin and had over a metre of large intestine removed. When they went through the surgery, it was worse than they had expected. She would have died within two days if untreated. They didn't re-section, so she will have the bag for now. She pulled through! Recovery will still be another 6 weeks. She is not yet able to walk around, but she can sit and move around a little bit. She was home after the initial stage of recovery. Yesterday we went to the local doctor to have her staples removed. A couple of hours ago, I heard a scream from the bathroom and she ran back to bed as fast as she could. A small hole had opened in the cut from the operation and she bled everywhere. We got an ambulance to take her back to hospital. Hopefully it is just a stitch and antibiotics job, but you never know until you hear from the doctors. So it is still ongoing!
Clearly, I have to look after her and it is taking up most of my exhausting days. But I'm still doing everything I can to work through art! I've been making progress on all of my commissions and will continue to do so throughout this whole period. Almost all of my commissions are getting close to completion now and that will be great! :D I'm happy to share progress pictures at any time, and always open to chat about current projects!
With all the stuff happening with my mother, it was really hard to also work on a full time online university course. I had to withdraw from my first semester and will apply for a remission of fees due to exceptional circumstances. The local university now offers my exact course (which they didn't before), so I am attempting to transfer my course to the local campus! It would be so much more beneficial to study in person rather than through a screen. I am still keen to continue with the studies, regardless if it takes longer to complete because of how life is.
Another great thing that happened is that a local internationally acclaimed artist/good friend endorsed me for a dream job! It would be at a local picture framing shop. Not only would this be a great trade to have as an artist, but it also provides room for progression and a chance to revolutionize his business with my digital knowledge! He has an expensive industrial printer and a large mechanical cutting machine which is capable of cutting logos and such that sign writers use. If I work under him for long enough, he wants to pass on the business to another person one day when he retires. He is the only name people think of for our entire region with framing and the place is always busy. So to land this job could potentially set me up for life!
That's about it for news. A lot of good and bad in there! I'm doing alright and focusing on getting work done. Hope everyone is well!
Have a great day and talk soon

Just checking in! :D
Posted 9 years agoHi everyone ^^ Quick update on the status of everything!
I'm working through commissions steadily! Have been making good progress on many at the same time. Most of them will be finished very close together!
I start my university course on the 22nd of February, and should hopefully have most of the artworks complete before that date <3 The list of artworks/progress at this current time is featured at the bottom of the journal in the fancy colours.
Should probably officially announce who will be doing collaboration commissions with me in the near future. It was hard to pick, as there were many amazing applicants both here and on facebook. Multiple factors went into choosing, as artistic skill is not the only thing that makes a great collaboration. When people can cover each other's weaknesses and have a compatible thought process and art style, that is when a collaboration will shine the brightest. For these reasons, I will be hosting an art auction with
AraEquinox and a YCH with
PocketCookie! We have started to play with some artworks in preparation and the results we are achieving will knock your socks off! <3
On another note, I'm almost up to 100 promotes on FurryNetwork! :D It is a race between me, WFA , WhiteMantis and Rukis to be the 15th person to achieve this honour on the new website. Come join the party! I'm happy to offer follow-backs and give promotes to other users in return for your support! It would be great to see you there http://beta.furrynetwork.com/fowlgon/
As you've likely seen, I'm doing weekly art studies to keep in practice, learn new techniques, network with some of the best artists in the industry and generally improve! It's part of a facebook group which encourages the good habit. These aren't affecting my commission work, as they are usually carried out during my eating breaks and such. One of my main goals is to create the impression of form and detail in a fast, aesthetically pleasing and believable way so that I can learn to create more finished looking artworks in much faster times. This will be a great benefit to all future clients and it is already showing results!
Hope everyone has been having an incredible 2016 so far, and looking forward to keeping up with all of you! Thanks for reading

Posted 10 years agoGood morning!
I'd like to try a collaborative commission with an artist of a similar skill level! If possible, we'd be aiming for a quality that would fit within this inspiration board I compiled of amazing artworks >LINK<. (If you see your artwork in there, you are awesome)
The way we would go about the collaboration will depend on your art skills. We would play to our strengths. Either way, both parties advertise for a special collab-commission. Advertisement wuold have a good example of both our work. We could either offer a fixed price for a certain tier of work (may have to make an example to do this), or do it auction style - taking the artwork to greater levels when it achieves certain price rungs.
Most people like the "I sketch, you refine/line, I colour, you shade" etc. approach. I personally like every aspect of creating art and would like a more fluid approach where we both contribute at all levels of the artwork. We could pass it back and forth at any stage, stream some of the process for eachother's input etc.
At this stage I can probably only take on one of these commission types. Please post some examples! I'm not too picky, so even if you feel you're not good enough, apply anyway! :D You may have something special that would make us a great team
Good luck! <3

Progress
Posted 10 years agoHello again!
Just a quick update to let everyone know where I'm up to with artworks. A progress list (as seen on my profile) is below.
I'm currently working hard to finish one large dragon back piece tattoo drawing by Monday. In the next 90 hours or so, I need to put another 50 hours of work into the drawing. Instead of sleeping, I am taking short 1-2 hour naps when I am tired. It will remain like that until this artwork is finished.
After the dragon tattoo, I can probably finish three of my speedpaints within 3-5 days. All of the upcoming artwork has passed sketching stage which is the most difficult part for me. They are all partway done and none of them should take long to complete. Hopefully most or all of my owed work can be finished by the end of the year. I intend to have no art owing by the time my University course starts. So you have not been forgotten!
Here is why things have been travelling so slow:
This year has been extremely hectic for me. My living conditions had changed at the start of the year and I had set up a workload that didn't reflect that. I bit off FAR more than I can chew and have been playing catch-up ever since. At one point I was really close to beating the backlog, but had to take on a new set of work to cover my living expenses.
I live with my family, having moved back to take care of my mother when she was extremely ill. In the household, everyone is disabled except for myself. I am constantly helping them out with most aspects of their lives. I endlessly cook, clean, drive (shopping, doctors, hospitals, nursery, more), garden, landscape, renovate, paint, manage 4 pets, and countless other odd-jobs (the list goes forever)
I also have to manage finances and other aspects of my business. I am graphic designing for local small businesses. I am personal training continuing clients. I am not currently maintaining my own fitness. I eat poorly, I sleep poorly, I don't exercise. I am usually stressed and don't partake in regular activities because I feel guilty and I don't have time. I've lost muscle mass and gained about 15kg in fat.
However, everything is about to change and a lot of those responsibilities will be lifted from my shoulders. I will only take on work I can achieve, as well as studying hard at University. Thanks for understanding, and sorry to have kept anyone waiting!
Have a great day everyone! Talk to you soon

However, everything is about to change and a lot of those responsibilities will be lifted from my shoulders. I will only take on work I can achieve, as well as studying hard at University. Thanks for understanding, and sorry to have kept anyone waiting!

Birthday! I'm 24
Posted 10 years agoToday (14th) is my 8766th day on this planet! So yeah! Still quite young really
I'll have coffee with a friend and then put my feet up to watch a movie. Eating better food than usual today.
After that, I'll be working on commissions again later tonight! Because art is fun
Also, I managed to cap our internet until October 23rd. Which is pretty impressive because we have a large threshold xD So you probably won't be seeing me in your livestreams for a few days. Oops!
Have a great day everyone :D

[CLOSED] October Special Commissions!
Posted 10 years agoThank you! This commission batch is now closed.
Hello!
I'm opening two special commissions in the spirit of October/Halloween/My birthday (14th)
The first is a horror/halloween themed picture. Full body speedpaint with background.
The concept is to have your character in candy-striped form. Three types of stripes. First, the character's natural skin/fur/feathers/scales. Second, no skin, exposed muscles and fascia. Third, little to no flesh, just the bones and ligaments exposed. Probably with an evil magic aura. Would love to include glowing effects
I am very good at anatomy etc. So this will be good quality and believable!
The second is an elemental styled picture. Full body speedpaint with background.
A vibrant coloured artwork with a strong sense of movement and inspired by these beautiful artworks:
x
xx
xxx
Each commission is worth $50US (to be paid in AUD, which is $70AU)
If you like, you can claim a different slot to these themes! Must be of equal or greater value (some prices can be negotiated) Full pricelist is here:

He can't look for a new job until after the holidays because he is currently very busy working towards Illuxcon
So he's opening for incredible commissions!
Here are some inspiring examples of his work:
[x]
[xx]
[xxx]
[xxxx]
THIS is his commission page.
As well as rubbing shoulders with the best, he has been mentoring under some of the biggest names in the art industry (including Peter Mohrbacher!) This is a testament to the standard of artist he really is.
He doesn't have many watchers, which is almost a crime! So let's all add him to our watch lists. And it would be a big help if people could signal boost him :D

Prices are listed in US Dollars and Australian Dollars. Please send payment in AUD! The conversion rate changes - this quote is true on 9/15/15.

Woohoo! Great News! =D
Posted 10 years agoSorry for being so quiet. Things have been busy in a very good way!
So I just checked my emails.
Got an acceptance letter from the university for a Bachelor in Sport & Exercise! It starts in February, and qualifies me to be an Exercise Scientist! It's a great way to expand my career opportunities in the fitness industry. So exciting!! :D This weekend I'm also starting a 6 week workshop with a master traditional artist!
I've always aspired to be a successful type of person. Hard work, dedication, long busy days! The goals are always aiming higher, to achieve the maximum potential I have in each field.
Ideally, I'd love to have an entrepreneurial role at the top of the australian fitness industry.
I'm also pushing as hard and far as I can with art! I've lived solely off my art before. I'd like to attain a high level, and eventually be considered among some of those all time greats and masters that we serious artists think about. Further in the future, I would be looking to take on just a few large projects per year.
At this stage, I shall continue taking small and large art projects alike! It will be my sole source of income, and pay my way through university! So feel welcome to continue approaching me for artwork!
I've been finishing a lot of art recently. A lot of it is graphic design and tattoo design work and can't be uploaded here. But more art will be uploaded soon!
I've been blessed with a great flow of incoming commissions, as well as personal training clients. Some of the recent art projects have been large scale and worth great money! This makes for a comfortable financial situation for the moment.
Looking forward to sharing more with you!
Hope everyone has an amazing day :D

On hiatus. Still drawing :) More art coming SOON!
Posted 10 years agoHello again!
Things have been a bit crazy lately. As a result, I'm 3-4 weeks behind on my art stuff. I also really need to land a new job (I can usually get a job very quickly). Mainly for those reasons, I'm going to stop using the internet for a couple of weeks until I catch up on art and get life back on track.
I'll still jump on occasionally to check emails/messages or to upload finished works for people. But until life is sorted, it is necessary to take away all of the distracting factors of life and focus on the important stuff! So I'll be online less, but I'll be more productive and sharing more stuff!
The artworks that I have been working on recently are coming out great! I'm improving really well at the moment. Focusing very hard on learning more and getting better. So you can look forward to a lot of nice work being uploaded!
Really excited to see you all again and get into a better position in life! I'll be a new person when I return.
Have a great couple of weeks, and don't let life or other people get you down! You deserve the best, and no one should get in the way of that :D
Thanks for sticking by me

[CLOSED] Free Sketches!!
Posted 10 years agoHi everyone!
I'm looking to kill the weekend with some artwork. I am doing sketches for anyone who likes which will look like this:
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/16441756/
Rules:
-You must be watching my account
-Make a quick feature linking back to me (journal, submit my sketch advert etc)
-Put the link where you featured me in your comment
-I will create a single colour piece with a 2 colour gradient like the example
-It shall be regular cell-shading. As an added bonus I can do more advanced shading for $5!
-Taking on commissions for the next 48 hours. I will have to cap the number at 30 total sketches
-Limit of one character per person. Can do couples for $10! This will come with more advanced shading
-edit- It is apparently against code of conduct to demand a feature for free art. So I guess that rule is gone!
Leave your reference in this format:
Character:
Reference Images:
Preferred expression?:
Two colours you would like in the gradient?:
Extra Notes:
