General | Posted 12 years agoI will no-longer be taking sketch-phase comics in the current format im making them. I hate the quality and its simply not worth my time to make a sketchy mess of poor quality sketches for $25 while a good value for people who want quick comics from me, my crisis of concience is too much. I will still keep the overlord comic donations for sketch page sponsorship at $25 as thats a personal project.
I'm working on offerng nicer ranges of services in conjunction with the baseline that I currently offer. This WILL NOT EFFECT my day-to-day commission stream prices as they are set now. These are instead superfluous options in case you want something with higher detail. There will be a total of 3 teirs of work. Moderate, medium detail, and high detail.
The new comic format will start at $50 for a sketch with nicer panel layouts, more like an actual comic page. The quality of the sketches will be more on-par with the nicer pages of the Overlord comics but with far more structured panels and pacing.

The state of the Overlord RP forum
General | Posted 12 years agoI know me and ironfox: have been neglctful lately of the RP. I want that to change I do. I've been looking through EVERYONE and skimming the bootcamp and people who were grandfathered in and etc etc. I've decided that since the Overlord comic will one day have its very own home on its very own website, it will also be getting a shiny new forum (which i can design and moderate with relative ease when Iron is not around in case thats needed)
Thing Is im very much into quality RP over quantity, as such EVERYONE currently involved in the RP will be placed in the New forum's Bootcamp. Do not treat what goes on in Bootcamp as canonical. Further more once it goes live you are only allowed to make ONE thread between evaluations. You may only partipate in THREE threads at any given time in Bootcamp. This allows me to make a better ascessment of your character. Once you feel you are "ready' for the actual RP you may put in a formal request to be included in it in an application forum. THERE you will present your character sheet with the character you've developed. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO DO THIS BEFORE ENTERING BOOTCAMP Bootcamp is designed to flesh out a character, find out what works and what doesn't and then present that character once fleshed out for ascessment. You will be given a test. If you pass that test you'll be allowed onto the main forums. The Thread you made in bootcamp will be deleted whether you pass or not. If you Fail. you must make a new thread with the corrections given to you by staff.

General | Posted 12 years agoI'm sorry if my "sudden" stance not to be walked on and treated like an art robot offends you. I'm sorry that I'm not going to let you treat me like crap when you dangle money in front of my face.
Lets put that into perspective. A dog might let you take a baseball bat to them and beat the crap out of them and then be super happy you gave them a treat afterward. They MIGHT. but odds are if that Dog has had no history of abuse, its going to bite you for hurting it.
Do not think for ONE MINUTE That being a paying customer gives you a right to treat me like a slave, like someone subhuman, someone that suddenly OWES you more than just the artwork on the table.
For those of you who are super puzzled by this let me run down a list of things people think is "included" with buying art from me:
Friendship, (you did art for me! we're totes best buddies now! ...no sweety it doesn't work that way)
A relationship ( yes because a single female artist needs a man/mate to complete her, and being a regular customer means you can slowly "buy" me.... To people who think this way I say, politely remove thineself from my customer base.)
A common interest in your Fetish (just because I draw it, doesn't mean i'm into it.)
Long story short. If you are going to treat me like an object and not a person, I'm no longer inclined to be nice, lay down, and take it.

8 hour drives and public apologies
General | Posted 12 years agoso im FINALLY back from Florida and i got absolutely NOTHING done this week outside of commissions and personal art and I am not proud of this. I know theres a small handful of people expecting stuff from me thats in various stages of being slightly to a bit more outlandishly overdue. I haven;t forgotten you. This week is going to be me playing catchup, doing recordings for some rehearsing things for megaplex, character designs for a potential client (you know who you are) and as always continuing the story of Isla Aukake, AKA the Overlord Comic.
8 hours is a long time to be in a car in a position where sleeping is impossible, in that span of time i have come up with 5 potential story arcs for the overlord comic.
Let me put that into perspective for you.
The story arc we're in ISN'T OVER YET and its the FIRST ONE. I have planned out FIVE MORE.... (allthough to the fair this one is drawing to a close fairly soonish, id give it maybe 4 more chapters give or take.
For a silly little sketch comic that started out as a handfull of sketchtacular brainstorming sketches of giving a humanized starscream a daughter and running helter skelter with the idea, this has become one of the most promising epics of my artistic career. I have been blessed by all its wonderful feedback and how much everyone has fallen in love with the characters.
I couldn't do this without your continued support. So please continue to support its endevours with your comments and favs and attention, it really helps to encourage me to post as many pages as possible a week and I love writing the story.
Again i couldnt do it without you guys, thank you.

Alas my brain has not been replaced by a dual core processor.
I do not make the macintosh boot up sound when i wake up. (allthough lets be honest that would be cool)
i still bleed blood and not coolant or binary code.
Still pretty sure the kind of viruses i catch can't be fixed with "patches"
Don't have a battery where my heart is.
If my eyes have become screens no-one told me.
So for the love of God, Treat me like a human being and not a slave of artwork. Especially if your asking for it for Free. It is my JOB i am not a puppet set up for your enjoyment.

If i give out freebies they tend to be earned by people who earn them by being cool or awesome to me or other people. (oddly more often to other people)
I can't afford to give away free stuff, least wise to people who don't even treat me as if i were human.

General | Posted 12 years agoso you guys know the drill Tonight (saturday) is one of my bi-yearly Starwars nights. The theme is starwars, sith, jedi, if its in starwars I'll draw it.
opening up the floor to five slots but i WILL OPEN MORE IF INTEREST IS SUCH.
In an unprecidented attempt at not falling asleep past 4 am i will be starting the stream 2 hours earlier at 5pm EST instead of 7pm EST. So may the fourth be with you, and come and attend the livestream get starwars art on-demand and have some fun starwarsy banter.
AS WITH ALL THEME NIGHTS, spend $50 or more and get a free sketch to be redeemed the following night onward. never expires. i shall even go so far as to say every $50 spent earns a free sketch so if your commssion goes over $100 bam, you get two free sketchies. goes over $150, 3 free sketchies. awesome.

In need of some Collective Advice.
General | Posted 12 years agoThere have been instances, not recently but in the past where I've wanted to refuse a commission. Either the client is listed on A_B (artists beware) or my dealings with them in the past have been such I've decided they aren't worth the headache. It hasn't been OFTEN and most of the people who have been like that I've basically told "hey i dont do this type of artwork anymore sorry."
But for those that want art from me that i CAN do but don't want to do for THEM, (for example ponies, just as an example) I have NO IDEA how to let people down delicately. I'm not a mean person, and there are times when I simply can't afford to turn a client down. But when a client/artist relationship turns Toxic and abusive I really don't want to continue working for someone who treats me like an art-robot, and further more lashes out against my other clients.
