Please bear in mind I have NO IDEA what my scedule will be next week which is why i chose monday to discontinue Digital temporarily and send in my tablet for repairs.

the last month as been absolutely crazy, i took two nearly back-to-back vacations with my parents and THOUGHT erranously that I would be smooth sailing until thanksgiving. WRONG.

Life likes to throw things at me this time of year i swear.

A long-standing friend of the family, Lucille, a 95 year old widow of my father's former dealership partner, is suffering from her third and possibly final stroke. They're fairly certain she's not long for this world and i am sad to see her suffer. Right now my family is waiting with baited breath for news of her passing so we can attend her funeral and give last respects, least we can do after everything. It's a sad thing but I hope when it happens it's painless.

In lieu of that i don't know when i'll be gone or for how long, it could be just a day, it could be two or three, with my parents its hard to tell as i'll be at thier mercy while they're here. i'd like to apologise in advance for this, but real life does come first sadly this is also where my need to work seems to be interfering with my ability to just up and go when i want to. I'll be event heavy for awhile longer yet and then i hope things will be back to normal.

So i have to send my tablet in for repairs again, so i'll be without it for at least a week. Not ideal but there isn't much I can do.

It would hilariously appear that the entire time I was on vacation, Fa was down in various stages, so i couldn't have worked in full capacity anyway. This is actually a bit of a releif as I was otherwise going to fell really guilty about not working. But again with very few advertising venues OUTSIDE of FA I couldn't have done much anyway.

That being said. I had fun on Vacation, i played a bit more with my Tumblr and while i may have to limit how many questions I answer and draw out, I still haven't quite reached that stage yet. I get it, alot of what i draw for people, pornography or not, can be and is fetish material. I GET IT.

HOWEVER. A due sense of Decorum would be HUGELY appreciated. Just because I draw it doesn't mean i wear my perversions on my sleeve like you do. I try TRY to keep an illusion of professionalism when I work with people. Its friendly and slightly informal but it doesn't steep into getting raunchy and vulgar.

Please remember that at its core commissioning me is a business transaction and that using certain vulgar terms to describe certain "parts" of a person's anatomy is not a good way to make me feel comfortable drawing for you.

I'm going to say some bad words now, the senstive members of the audience might want to avert thier eyes for this portion of the scenario.

Words like: snatch, cunt, cooter, pussy, dick, balls, cock. <PLEASE DEAR GOD nothing makes me curl up into a ball of uncomfortable writhing artist more than seeing this in what charades as a professional transaction. I am a LADY (or trying to be) would you say such words to a LADY? No? then dear God DON'T do it to me. Seriously I know its boring but my regular customers usually use "bits" "manbits" "ladybits" 'manparts" "ladyparts"

I dont even draw most of this stuff unless your paying 3x as much.

ASKING IF YOUR ARTIST IS EVEN COMFORTABLE WITH YOUR FETISH BEFORE LAUNCHING INTO A DELIGHTFULLY GRAPHIC SCENARIO OF YOUR COMMISSION MIGHT BE A GOOD IDEA. some descriptions ive read i almost wanted to charge just for the amount of brainbleach i had to apply to my brain after reading it.

If you're going to micromange every thing down to the position of the hands arms and legs I WILL CHARGE MORE for robbing me of every ounce of wiggle room I delight in. I like a certain level of artistic freedom, if that is stripped from me I WILL NOT ENJOY drawing your peice and it will show. In order to enjoy it in the slightest I will charge extra, i can at least be comforted in knowing "im getting paid more for this."

bullet points are your friend. i do NOT need paragraphs upon paragraphs detailing your characters descrption in flowery purple prose. If i wanted to read a book Id get one from audible or my local library's audio book secion, seeing a trend?

Good friend of mine had one of his truck drawings stolen for a tshirt. Just getting the word out there in case other people better suited than me can help and not only that make sure your own artwork hasn't been ripped off.

So as some of you know I'm currently vacationing in sunny north-west florida a on the pan handle in santa Rosa beach. You may also know, if you watch wheather patterns marginally less obsessively than i do (/sarcasim, im a wheather nut :p ) you'll know that there's a possible Cat-2 hurricane headed straight for me, and my parents whom i am vacatoning with at the moment, have informed me they are going to ride out the storm. Depending on the severity by the time it reaches us i really hope they know what they're doing. I was in a universal studios hotel when I rode out Charlie back in 04' so i know that hurricanes are indeed no laughing matter. I can only hope that everything will be fine, most of the beach houses here are built to code to withstand these types of thing but less than a block from the beach and basically on an island, you might understand why i might be a bit concerned.

If for WHATEVER reason after monday i go off the grid, I will do my best to stay in contact with the handful of friends I have that can update you guys on the situation.

So as many of you know, I am the GOH for the brand new Convetion in nashville TN, Fangcon.

I've been working with my commissioners to have a con-theme day (musicals in this case) so that I can easily provide artwork with my crazy schedule. And I'll be doing a Panel on Character development on one of the con days.

However I've hit a snag, even though I'm Guest of Honor, The con has informed me that I will neither have a hotel room or transportation fees to get there from ohio. I can stay with my parents but I'd really not want to bother them to transport me at all hours of the day and night I want to ENJOY the con and mingle and that will be difficult to do that when I have no car and my parents are older and won't very much enjoy ferrying me back and forth especially at 2 am.

If anyone in the area can help me out on this issue please send me a note. I really don't want to impose on the constaff any more than I feel I am.

My personal issues rarely come into play when my customers play by the rules of common sense. its so nice to know when my friends know my boundaries.

Not too long ago with a certain PONY picture *AHEM* when i first posted it with the price tag the VERY FIRST COMMENT I got for it because $100 for a digital painting must be highway robbery otherwise was "can you fuck it!!??" ..... no dumbass, you can't, its a non-pornographic picture of a freaking pony... someone wanted something PRETTY does that escape your tiny little sex-starved cranium? That the ONLY reason someone would pay THAT much for something is because an innocent picture of a pony is someone's weird fetish, the ONLY reason someone would pay that much is so they can jerk off to it, the ONLY reason someone would pay THAT MUCH is if it were PORN.

I'm a professional, people, I went to art college for 4 years, slogged through the animation, illustration and graphic design industry for 4 more years. The industry isn't pretty but damned if they don't know how to properly treat a college-grade artist.

FUN FACTS!

in the animation industry for a week-long deadline for 12 frames of story boards for a 30 second commercial you can be paid by a low-end animation company... brace yourselves... $250 for 12 SKETCHES practically, and my coworker got paid that and he was a worse artist than i was, his work was scribbles compared to mine. Still got paid $250 per-project storyboarding PSAs

The people who do veggie tales? their deadlines are 2-3 days, guess what they pay? $450-500 for 30 seconds worth of storyboards, thereabouts again, 12 drawings.

People in the industry value art, its what drives their product. So when you put that into perspective, me asking $100 for a lovingly rendered speedpaint looks freaking cheap by comparison dosn't it? Considering i got paid TWICE or 4 times as much to do sketches of vegetables.

Don't complain about prices, most of the artist's prices are freaking Cheap compared to what we could work for. This isn't me standing on a high horse and saying "I COULD MAKE 3 TIMES THIS MUCH ELSEWHERE" no. I've had my share of humbling, I do artwork for a living, it pays my bills, my food, my gas my everything. I owe my livlihood to the wonderful customerbase i've accrued over this past year, however, I'm sick and tired of seeing random people who DON'T KNOW ME, or how i work, how i STRIVE to be the best in customer service, (and lordy some people will tell you i will bend over backward sometimes,) think im too expensive, that other artists are too expensive or are "overpriced because they're in high demand" It should probably be noted that if I have people who stand in line every night to get work from me, that my prices are NOT infact too steep.

just because our prices seem high to you? Doesn't mean its pornographic, expecting it to be reflects badly on YOU. Making the remark that the price should be lower because you personally can't afford it? Nooooooot my problem. you want nice artwork, you will pay more for it, you want cheap artwork? theres PLENTY OF OTHER PEOPLE who will draw for you, it's a buyers market as much as I hate to admit it.

My problem? worrying about how i'm going to pay my rent and making sure the people who RESPECT ME and RESPECT my work, are happy. Because THEY make this work worth it, every night i am blessed. BLESSED to be surrounded by awesome understanding and oftentimes even broke people. I don't care if you can't buy my work, but don't be an ass about not being able to afford it.

I love my work and I love what I do, I would never do anything else, and while yeah people like the above article would make me want to rip my hair out and throttle someone, at the end of the day im largely surrounded by FREAKING AWESOME PEOPLE. And I can only hope that they continue to bring in even MORE awesome people, 'cause I love community too. Community rocks.

Back in the day when i was an Art Student at my Alma Mater, CCAD (columbus collge of art and design) it was rather common knowledge that despite its location within the city we were an EXTREAMLY safe campus. If you ever visited that part of town you might question why considering how run down alot of the buildings looked, its been cleaned up in recent years but the fact of the matter still remained, CCAD seemed incased in a saftybubble so during my years as a student there I compiled a list of reasons for why we were awesomely devoid of violent crimes.

9 reasons why CCAD students are less likely to be robbed and/or murdered on campus:


1. The average CCAD student, especially freshmen, can be seen equipped with one or all of these items: an exacto knife, a box cutter (also know as a mat-knife by students and falculty as that is often its primary function) and a rather large metal, yard-long t-square ruler.
2. the aforementioned weaponry is often found in jacket pockets for easy wielding for the absent minded. Any such poor attacker may find their insides rather deplorable to look at as they are spilled on the sidewalk. And thusly painted later (should he survive) by his would be victim.
3. Your mother has said it before: Artists are crazy. It is popular belief that fighting a crazy person can only lead to your own defeat as your intentioned victim not only doesn’t care that you are flaying him with your little pocket knife but he is also cataloging your reactions and physical movements for later projects. With no reguard for self worth, and life being of little importance, CCAD students are less likely to submit to their fate but rather fight back for the enjoyment of it.
4. have you ever been hit in the head with a paint box? The dreadfully heavy apparati is often hauled long distances and artists will happly throw this at any idiot who is stupid enough to get close.
5. double 0 seven has nothing on us. Artists that reside in the dorm often suffer from boredom when projects become too much to bear, in order to rectify this problem they partake in an activity called “stair walking” which is done in the tight spaces of the stairwell. The point is to not allow any part of your body to touch the floors or the stairs, thusly it becomes a wall climbing exercise. These select few of students become closely akin to ninja. Don’t fuck with us.
6. Art students are poor. All of the aforementioned equipment we haul around sucks our pocket books dry and we are most likely to have maybe spare change in our wallets at best. The last known mugging that took place on CCAD was summed up with a few buises, a black eye and the loss of two dollars from one of the victims’ wallet. Seriously we aren’t worth it.
7. You know those art supplies that aren’t used as weapons? We sniff them. Do you attack a guy whose high as a kite? Nooo. You think chloroform will work on us? Dude we huff paint and rubber cement. Chloroform aint gonna work.
8. Suicidal tendencies, freshmen year is hell. If you kill us your only granting us our most cherished wish.
9. Self inflicted injuries. Students can be stupid at 4 am in the morning racing deadlines for projects. We’ve been stabbed, cut, stitched burned slashed, gashed and mutilated…. All by ourselves….

I bought a PSP awhile ago, slash dent sale, the right button doesn't work and I've tried everything in my power to fix it (which basically consisted of opening up the unit, cleaning under the button and re-assembleing it.) and yes after doing that the unit works just fine save for the fact the right top button is stubborn as heck.

SO. I'd rather sell it as a mild fixerupper and actually use the money i get toward a PSP thats something other than black. (looking at a blue one)
