RainFurrest 2012
General | Posted 13 years agoSo... I arrived back from Rainfurrest 2012 in Seattle, WA just yesterday. It was certainly an eventful trip!
The video of Rainfurrest is uploading now... it should be done soon. Being a transit enthusiast though, I decided to make a "Buses in Seattle, WA" video too! It can be found here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jrtq7vD0_-U
Honestly I had a great time, and I'm looking forward to Rainfurrest 2013! Post-convention depression sucks though... add in cross-border sickness and you've got an unhappy fox... but I'm feeling a little bit better now. :)
One thing on the way back that was exciting was seeing the bush-fire along I-5 just south of Everett, near Lynnwood. I saw the smoke and was expecting to see a vehicle or two on fire due to an accident, but it was actually five separate patches of fire, each about the size of a living room. The firetrucks hadn't even arrived when the Greyhound bus passed it!
My next convention has to be soon... It's just gotta be!

Happy Birthday to me!
General | Posted 13 years ago(To the tune of Baron Bomburst from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang):
"Happy birthday to me... Happy birthday to me. Happy Birthday dear Friendly... oh"
Sorry, I'm getting ahead of myself. Hehe, yep, today I'm twenty years old! A teenager no longer... an adult in full-bloom... take a look at it how you please :)
Also, what I'm really looking forward to is my trip to Seattle in five days! I'm ever so excited!
Please feel free to wish me happy birthday, and I'll try and reply to you all :)

I'm going to RainFurrest, do you need a roommate?
General | Posted 13 years agoI am definitely going to RainFurrest in Seattle next month, but I desperately need to make some arrangements. I am not sure yet if I'll be travelling by highway-coach to Seattle, or by fast-ferry and transit. As much as I'd love to have a hotel suite to myself for the four days of the convention, it just isn't possible at the moment. Has anybody got room for a young fox looking for a bed for a few nights?
I'd be most grateful if I can get some form of arrangements sorted by the end of this month. I can easily pay for my share of the hotel room, it's your choice if you want it in USD or CAD.

These last few weeks...

Listening to: The Hollies - After the Fox
So... Hey everyone, just letting you know I'm still alive hereabouts.
A few weeks ago, I was supposed to start volunteering for a bike camp called "Pedalheads" for 3 weeks. I went through all of the hoops, getting references, a criminal record check, and filling out the forms. Everything was good and I was rearing to go... until the day I was supposed to start volunteering I got a phone call saying 'there was a problem' and being the very-understanding person I am, let them off and waited to hear when I could start. Later that week I received a phone call which said they don't need volunteers because of the small number of participants this year. All I can say is I am disappointed - I was really looking forward to it. On the other hand it probably wasn't my cup of tea anyway, they focus too much on 'lose the training wheels' for my taste.
Then this evening I went swimming at my local rec centre. I had a lot of fun with a friend and his three kids, whom I haven't seen for at least a month or two. As I was leaving, I noticed a poster on the wall. The recreation centre has a biking program for kids ages 4-7 and it teaches things like street safety and other skills. However there was one thing I didn't like about it - "All participants must be off training wheels" - which is just a nicer way of saying 'Training Wheels are not allowed'
It made me think of all those kids who love to ride their bikes, even if they still need training wheels - much like my character Timothy, and they wouldn't be able to attend this program for that simple fact. It made me rant to myself, as I do when I get agitated by something. As I sat in the bus stop waiting for the '72' back home, I thought about how disappointed Timothy would be if he'd noticed the poster and got all excited, only to find out he wasn't good enough to attend with the other kids. I thought about discussing it with someone there, but then I think I'll do that when I've got some spare time instead. I was thinking about applying as a volunteer for the program, but this has kinda made me less excited about it.
There are a few bike camps around the area - but I've yet to hear about one where kids can turn up with training wheels on their bikes, and leave the same day with their training wheels still on. Is that so unrealistic?

All about my O.C Characters
General | Posted 13 years agoSo this journal is all about my own creation characters. I know I have a description in my profile, but I wanted to elaborate some more on them.
My fursona is Friendly - a kind, honest Red Fox. He loves more than anything to go out and play with his friends. His hobbies include Transport, Cycling, Gaming, Reading, and Swimming. He also really enjoys the company of his friends Jake and Timothy, and all of their friends too. As a young adult he has some great ideas on how to improve the transportation networks of other companies. Friendly originally came from England as a young cub, and he longs to take Jake and Timothy with him when he goes back for a holiday. Friendly usually wears a dark-blue jersey and a pair of sweat-pants, and occasionally a grey hoodie when the weather is colder.
Then, there's Timothy - a lovable, slightly chubby Raccoon cub, who is timid but very warm-hearted. His timidity comes from being made fun of by other kids his age - mainly because he still needs training wheels on his bike. Timothy can get rather emotional, but Friendly is usually there to give him a shoulder to cry on. He wears a blue t-shirt and a pair of shorts with orange, white and blue flames. Timothy really loves trains - and he's usually the first one to shout: "Look! A train!" if he sees one. Timothy's dad - James is a bus driver, and his mom - Sally - is a chef at a restaurant. Timothy is also a human character in my W.I.P novel set in Hertfordshire, England - but with some subtle differences in circumstances.
Lastly, there's Jake - an energetic German Shepherd pup who loves to play games and sometimes tease his friends, but is quick to apologize if he's taken a joke too far. He wears a red t-shirt and a pair of dark-blue sweat pants or orange-and-grey shorts. Jake really enjoys nature, being a dog he has a very keen sense of smell and loves to do stuff that involves anything to do with nature, like hiking, camping or even riding his bike along a trail. Jake's mom and dad are both police officers, but they're allocated to different police departments. Jake has an older brother named Ralph, but they rarely get along. I have yet to introduce Ralph because I need to work on his character some more, though I think he'll probably be a troublemaker and a rebel. Jake is more submissive. He is also a character in my novel set in England - but like Timothy, with different circumstances.
I'm working on several stories right now of Friendly, Jake and Timothy. Some are with other furs - such as the "Art and Biro go to camp" and "Joys of the Summer" series, but other standalone stories will feature just the three of them with their parents and some other friends I'll create as I go along. The timeline for these three friends is that Friendly met Timothy first - in the park. Timothy's bike was stuck in the mud because of his training wheels, and the other kids just kept laughing at him. Friendly saw how upset the raccoon looked and helped him out. The two became inseperable after that. Then about a month later, Friendly and Timothy were riding their bikes along a trail beside the river when they saw Jake sitting by the water's edge, with tears flowing down his cheeks. Jake had had a fight with his older brother and being the more submissive pup, he backed down - but it just didn't feel right. He went down to the river to try and take his mind off things, and that is where Friendly and Timothy met him.
With the babyfur stories though, it follows a different set of circumstances altogether. In those stories, I truly let my imagination run free and am more flexible with stuff. Friendly can either be the babysitter, or the older friend.
Anyway, that's that! So I'm a very, very busy fox right now - though I'm never too busy to talk! Please feel free to read my stories, or view some of the various artwork I have in my gallery. I'd really appreciate some comments, suggestions and general feedback about my work.

Wow... that was - depressing

Wow, it's amazing what you think about when you're in a state of depression. Many questions were running through my mind... what happens when you die? Will Timothy be waiting there for me, will all of my family members who have passed away be there with him? It got to the point where I was worrying so much whether my life was worth living or not.
Anyway, I've now decided that I am not going to worry about this - well not as much as I have been anyway. There are other, more important things to worry about in due course.
On a lighter note, I am definitely going to RainFurrest this year in Seattle, WA! I know it's still 4 months away, but I'm just wondering if anyone is going to be arranging their hotel accommodation there soon? I'm willing to share a suite with someone to spread the cost. I plan to arrive there on the 26th September and leave on the 1st of October 2012. (5 nights).

You're not here...
General | Posted 13 years agoYou're not here...
As I snuggle my raccoon plush, I feel nothing but the synthetic fur against my skin, and the stuffing inside.
As I sob into the fur, I hear no words of comfort with my ears.
As I wipe my tears with my sleeve, I see nothing but blackness.
"What're you crying for?" says a little boy's voice - though my ears hear nothing.
"Because you're not here, Timothy" I reply.
"Yes I am!" squeaks the little boy.
"You're here spiritually, but not physically" I answer, wiping my tears into the synthetic fur of my raccoon plush.
"If you really were here, I'd be able to hear you with my ears rather than my brain. I'd be able to snuggle with you and hear you sniffle when you're upset, and hear you giggle when I tickle you. If you were here you'd want to go and ride your little red bike with training wheels, and I'd take you everywhere I could, but you're not here. You're just a figment of my imagination, and you always will be" I say, struggling to hold back the tears.
Then I hear nothing, not even with my brain. The only thing I hear is a helicopter taking off outside my window, and the sound of my suffering heart. Why aren't you here, Timothy? Why can't I hug you and hear you say: "I love you" in your innocent little voice. Why can't I take you for a bike ride, why can't I take you swimming? Why can't I hold your paw and walk with you down the street. Because I'm kidding myself, I live in a world where no magic of that kind exists. I live in a world where there is little comfort. I live in a world where furry animals are wild. I live in a world that only allows you to exist in my imagination. As I say "I love you Timothy" into your ear, I wonder if you can even hear me. The only way I can hear you is through my brain.
I snuggle my raccoon plush again and rub his back, I kiss his cheek and snuggle with him as I would with my Timothy.
"I love you Timothy, with all my heart"
This is the whimpers of a suffering heart of a young furry, whose only desire is to snuggle his best friend.
I'm bleeding...

Vancoufur 2012 is over - OH!!!
General | Posted 14 years agoVancouFUR is over... I'm back on the Island... and I am feeling a little delusional - but that can be expected when you hear a squeak and expect it to be a furry or see a pattern on someone's fleece and think it's a furry, or even if you see someone with long, thick hair and your first reaction is that it's one of those cute wolf or dog furries you met just hours ago. Damnit!
I need to attend another Convention soon, or I'm gonna go insane methinks... if I haven't already.
On the other hand, I think I had the most fun I've ever had in my life! It's all thanks to
sairyswolf ,
tibolf , and
fuzzyzf. There are others too, but Sairys, Tibolf and Fuzzy Otter are the main three furs who really made me feel happier than I've ever felt before. :) :hugs:

General | Posted 14 years agoHey everyone. Just posting this journal to let you know that I will be attending Vancouver's very first furry convention - VancouFUR, on March 9th thru 11th! :D
I certainly hope I'll see some of you there. It'd be nice to meet you in person. All of you have made me feel welcome ever since I first came onto DeviantART almost two years ago. :)

Ozzie needs Help
General | Posted 14 years agoHey everyone. I'm just posting a journal to raise awareness for
ozziekitskunk
Ozzie needs help with money for healthcare and since i cannot actually give him any at the moment; I thought I'd help him instead by spreading the word. If any of my watchers can spare him any money at all, I know he'd be most grateful. :)

Feeling Unwell...
General | Posted 14 years agoSo... as a few of you may know already, I'm feeling rather unwell. It seems that I've come down with a sort of flu bug - only mild, but enough to put me out of action for a few days.
I felt awful last night... so much so that I went to bed early - which hasn't happened in 5 years or more! *coughs*
Not only that... I'm also feeling a little depressed at the moment - not due to anyone in particular, but just feeling down. Do you ever wish that your furry characters could come to life, even just for a day? To be able to hang out... have fun, play, maybe have a snuggle or two? I know I do.
Anyhow I'll leave that be for now and focus on feeling better.

Arturo and Biro
General | Posted 14 years agoJust to let everyone know, I've posted two chapters of a story titled "Arturo and Biro go to camp"
Its' about my furry characters Friendly the fox (Me), Jake the german shepherd and Timothy the raccoon meeting with
pacopanda's characters Arturo the raccoon and Biro the fox.
Both chapters are based on an RP, and I've really enjoyed talking with Parinton and enjoyed watching the interactions between all five characters, and also talking about other things with Parinton.
Hopefully Chapter 3 will not take any longer than this chapter did. Parinton has been very busy with commissions and work lately, so understandably Chapter 2 had to be postponed until last night.
The links are here if you would like to read the stories... They're also on DeviantART and InkBunny.

Things startin' to look up...
General | Posted 14 years agoHey All. I just thought I'd fill in on the last few weeks that have happened on my end of life.
The local, annual model train show was fun, as it always is. Here's the video of some of my trains running with other members' trains.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NbcCEFD18J8
I've also made a new friend here, his name is Parinton, and he's from Mexico! I've enjoyed playing an RP with him and his characters Arturo and Biro, and I wrote it all up in a story here: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/6602412 - Please read it, and comment if you'd like! (I do like reading and responding to comments)
I'm also expecting a commission from Parinton soon, but there will be more details on that later.
Parinton's user-name on DeviantART and on InkBunny is 'PandaPaco', and on FurAffinity is 'PacoPanda'. He's made my life just that little bit jucier these past few weeks, so I'd just like to say, Thank You Parinton! :)
I really hope to post journals more frequently soon - it's just that things have been a little boring recently on the home-front.

The local, annual model train show was fun, as it always is. Here's the video of some of my trains running with other members' trains.

I've also made a new friend here, his name is Parinton, and he's from Mexico! The future? A novel turned into a film? Or have I gone mad?!
General | Posted 14 years agoSo... this morning my alarm went off at 8:45am - but seeing as I don't have to work anymore, I went back to sleep. Probably the best thing I ever did.
Alright, so you're wondering what this is about? Well...
~
I had a dream this morning that I was in a mental hospital, in a big city somewhere in the United States. It was a skyscraper, with at least 24 floors dedicated to housing people with special needs. I lay on a rather thick plastic vinyl bed, which was quite comfortable despite what it was made of, and a doctor examined me and took scans of my entire body, especially my brain. Then he showed me the screen, which showed me all of my body, but it focused on my head. There was a tiny little bump almost invisible to the unaided eye, and the doctor commented that it was my autism, and it was driving me to death. This alarmed me, so I repeated "driving me to death?!" and he replied "potentially, yes"
Needless to say, that almost woke me up, but there was a better - and lighter hearted - side to the dream. I played with a group of children, ranging in age from seven to fourteen. It was a huge playground - like one of those big playground apparatus with slides, fireman's poles, wooden steps and metal climbing frames - but each one was built on top of the other, like a huge fortification. I met a 14 year old girl named Sadie, and a 13 year old boy named Thomas. They became my best friends, and we made a solemn oath to escape from the mental hospital by any means necessary.
~
So, there you have it. It wasn't all of the dream, but it was most of what I can remember. I think I should write a sci-fi novel about it.
One other thing I didn't tell you all, is that the monitor showed a 'babyfur' scan - testing my characteristics as a young child I guess. It was presumably set in the future, probably around 2020-2025.
Anyway I've got to go and think this over now. Comment if you'd like, I'll read it when I've had some breakfast.

More to come...
General | Posted 14 years agoHey everyone! I've been really, really busy lately so I haven't been able to do much in terms of stories, RPs or other art-work. Still, that's changing now. It's summer-time, and I want to get some more stuff done for DeviantART and Furaffinity.
There'll be a fair few things coming up for you all to appreciate, but I'm not giving anything away yet.
Just a heads up.
If anybody would like a story written, or an RP with me, then don't hesitate to send me a note!

Yesterday
General | Posted 15 years agoWell, if possible, Monday was even more boring than Sunday. The only action that actually happened was a huge shipment of firewood. We managed to sort out most of the usable wood from the unusable stuff, but it was crawling with woodlice - and woodlouse spiders! UGH!
Oh well... Could be worse I guess - I could have been bitten by one. Thankfully I wasn't.

Boring day... as predicted Yesterday
General | Posted 15 years agoI said that today would be rather boring, and I was right. I got some wood in and played some PC Games, but other than that, nothing else happened. (Yawn)
Although, a storm is moving through BC tonight, and it's gonna be windy. Better get the wood in before the fire goes out...
Tomorrow should be a little more exciting... after all, Mondays are usually more exciting than Sundays, right?

Overdue...
General | Posted 15 years agoOkay... Okay. I know I said that yesterday's journal entry would be up, but I was just so tired after swimming that I went straight to bed. I was also rather disappointed - since I was going to meet a couple of friends at swimming, but they didn't show up. UGH! Don't you hate it when that happens?
Still... other than going swimming, yesterday and today was pretty boring. I'm still working on my novels, and I've been busy tweaking bits and pieces before I really get to sending the first novel to any potentially interested agents and publishers.
I'll try and post another journal tomorrow, but Sundays are usually even more boring than Saturdays for me, so don't actually expect one...
Also, you may have noticed that I've been lacking in my submissions department - well, I've just run out of ideas and I'm also very busy searching for employment; so much so that I just don't have time for random works of art and literature for the time being. Sorry about that, but I am still available for any RP requests.

A Fantastic day today!
General | Posted 15 years agoToday, I didn't have to go to work! Yay! Also, I made my way to Victoria this afternoon to check on the regional transit fleet, and made some interesting discoveries. I also made a couple of new friends too!
Other than that, I treated myself to watch "How to Train your Dragon" this evening, and I thoroughly enjoyed the movie from start to finish! Toothless is Sooooooo CUTE! AWWW! Now I just want to fly through the air... LOL
I hope everyone had just as an exciting day today as I did, and tomorrow's Journal Entry will be up at the same time tomorrow!
Goodnight, all

Beginning of Daily Journals...
General | Posted 15 years agoAs of this evening, I'm going to TRY and make a journal entry almost every day. I've been keeping a diary since January 1st, which is designed to help me remember what happened for the whole year when December 2011 arrives.
How was my trip to Vancouver Yesterday? Brilliant!
I managed to travel to many different locations - even some which I haven't seen in YEARS! Metropolis at Metrotown, Chinatown, Vancouver City Centre...
I even managed to ride on a few trolleybuses and an older high floor bus - which was exceedingly warm and cosy! As the sun set, I was riding to Lonsdale Quay on a Not-In-Service bus which must have been 25 degrees C inside! I'll certainly try to ride a few more of those old buses before they're sold off!
In other news, I went to work again today and earned $30, and my truck is to be insured sometime this week. Now I have the money to get gas for it! Also, I'm posting links to my playlist: "Buses in Canada" which will feature Volume Eight of Vancouver Buses in the next few days!
http://www.youtube.com/user/Welwyn2.....63D495CB4E94FF
I'm looking forward to having some fun with other FA furs in the next few days too! If anyone wants to RP, or wants me to write a story, ask away! The answer will most likely be a "Yes!"

Feeling better now!
General | Posted 15 years agoWell... things have turned for the better it seems. I'm headed to Vancouver tomorrow morning and my truck will be insured sometime next week!
Also, I'm thinking of taking lifeguard training at my local swimming pool, and I just have to see if I can do ten continuous laps in fourteen minutes... just got to build some muscles up for that test.
On the other hand, my sister keeps bugging me and she just has this fascination at trying to scare me - GO AWAY! - Sorry... Why does she have to be so annoying?
Oh well, other than that, I'm in good spirits!

General | Posted 15 years agoRight now, I am not feeling myself, so prepare for an explosion...
(Okay, maybe not)
But I was planning a trip to Vancouver today, and I woke up at 5:45am as I usually do. At 6, Dad woke up and intercepted me, telling me that I'm not going to Vancouver.
I tried to protest, but he's the alpha male and he makes all my decisions for me - although I'm 18. So, I was determined, and I pondered it over. Dad then found me thinking in the kitchen and things did not go well...
So, no trip to Vancouver today, and working with Mum for an average $4.5/hour (if I pull my weight!)
I've also lost my diary, which I've been recording my thoughts and emotions in for the past three weeks... Could this day just get any worse?!!!
