Rest in peace, Zoe...
Posted 5 years agoWell, it hasn't even been a year. Didn't think I'd be here again so soon...
So, in June last year, we lost our beloved cat, Kirby. Today, our dog Zoe passed away. However, where Kirby was 19 years old and had an advanced kidney disease, Zoe was only 10.
About 2 weeks ago, she started having some issues, so my mom called the vet (lockdown 'n all), and they said it sounded like hepatitis, so they were calling in a prescription for some antibiotics, but it was going to take a few days for them to arrive. Zoe was really not doing well during that time. She wasn't eating or drinking, and any time she would eat or drink, she would just throw up right away.
Well, last Monday, my mom gets the antibiotics and starts giving them to her, but she doesn't really improve much, so my mom decides to have her hospitalized. They run some tests because they're concerned it may actually be liver failure, but after the tests and giving her some IV antibiotics for 2 days, she started getting a lot better. So, on Friday, they let her go home. I went over on Sunday to have...I guess lunch(?) with my parents for Easter and Zoe was looking much better than when I'd seen her on the previous Saturday. So, we all assumed she was going to get better.
Well, fast forward to today, and I get a call from my mom after I get off of work, and she tells me that Zoe's gone. She wasn't doing very well yesterday, but today she just crashed. My parents rushed her to the vet, but from the time they got her to the vet and the time she died was about 10 minutes.
That dog did not deserve any of this. She was dealt a pretty bad hand it seems. She started losing her eyesight when she was only around 1 or 2 years old and was mostly blind within about a year from a combination of cataracts and some genetic eye disease. Then, as she got older, she started having really bad allergy issues. She would just itch like crazy all the time, and we had to take her to the vet to get shots every month or so to try and relieve the itching. Then, about a month ago, she had a suspected stroke and was not the same afterwards.
She was such a good dog. She didn't deserve to have any of this stuff happen to her. Even despite this, she was still just the most loving, playful dog for her whole life. Even though she could barely see, she'd still chase after her toys with relative ease and bring them back to you.
It only happened today, and I already can't fathom the thought of never seeing her again. I'm just glad I got to see her before she passed away. I love you, Zoe. I always will...
I have a picture of her on my profile that I posted a few years ago, but here's a picture of her as a puppy: https://i.imgur.com/uCO8M9t.jpg
One of the worst parts of all of this is that not only did we lose one cat last year, and now one dog this year, but we've got 2 more pets that are quickly running short on time.
Our other dog, Sophie, is 15, and she's just...she's struggling at this point. She's got really bad arthritis, she's also lost a lot of her eyesight, she's lost most of her hearing, and also has really bad allergy issues. I'm honestly fully prepared and won't be surprised if she doesn't go before the end of the year.
And then there's Simba. My little buddy. The cat that's been by my side nearly every day since we got him. He's 16, and while he's in relatively good condition, as the last few weeks have shown, things can change very quickly.
I can't handle this.

Rest in peace, Kirby...
Posted 6 years agoSo, today we had to have my cat, Kirby, put down. He was diagnosed with a stage 3 kidney disease a few months ago, for which there is no cure. We were feeding him special food that would treat it and make things more comfortable for him in his remaining time.
Well, on Saturday my mom told me that he wasn't doing well. He hadn't eaten in several days and was becoming very lathargic. When I went to see him, I could tell that the end was near.
Then, yesterday, she tells me that she was going to have my brother come and take him to the vet on Monday, so I went to see him one last time.
I'm trying to take solace in the fact that he was 19 years old, so he lived a long, happy life, but it's just so hard to think that he's gone.
Here's a picture of him from just a few weeks ago: https://i.imgur.com/683ChcZ.jpg

Any of y'all play Path of Exile?
Posted 7 years agoI think I've asked this before, but thought I'd ask again. I've been playing it a ton recently and thought I'd see if there are any furries that'd like to play with me. ^w^
I was playing Toxic Rain Pathfinder for a while, but just respeced into Ele Hit last night (I'm a meta slave, I know), and have been really enjoying it.
Just add me on steam if you wanna play. ^w^ Steam name is HolyMikeB

I'm a quarter of a century old
Posted 7 years agoAnd quite honestly, that's disgusting. I'm an old man now.
Didn't think I'd actually have to make this journal.
Posted 7 years agoSo, I was just made aware that there's a Tumblr blog using my character and
gemonous's character for roleplay purposes. I ask that people do not use my character or artwork of my character for roleplay purposes and do not claim my character as their own.
I do not rp, nor do I have a Tumblr (okay, well yes I do, but I only use it to bypass Tumblr's age restriction so I can follow some adult Wildehopps comics. OwO), so if you see someone trying to rp as me or either of my characters, know that it is not me. Thank you.
Now, excuse me whilst I try to dodge tornados (Spring is here in the Midwest~). ^w^
