Anthrocon and Eurofurence Plans!
Posted 8 years agoI will be at Anthrocon and Eurofurence, in the dealer's room and art shows - if you are attending either convention, please come say hi!
I will, unfortunately, be missing Furry Migration this year since I'll be in Europe visiting family while it's going on - but I look forward to attending again next year!
This will be my first time at Eurofurence, I'm really excited to attend and meet everyone there, I've heard amazing things about it for years.
It's been a bit of a balancing act, trying to settle into the farm life as well as keeping up with artwork - I'm slowly working on getting a normal workday again for art - I've still got quite a ways to go but we're making things easier here, bit by bit, so I'm hoping to get through my backlog soon, I have so many exciting art projects I want to work on.
If you want to keep up with our farm shenanigans, I've got a twitter that I update pretty much daily: https://twitter.com/foxfeather

The next convention I'll be doing is MFF in December, I hope to see you there! I'll be in the dealer's den as usual, come say hi!
I'm going to try to get in to TFF for next spring, will see how that goes. I am going to attempt to do AC in 2017 as well, it will be a very busy year!

MFF, Comic Updates, Honey, and Holidays!
Posted 11 years agoI will be at MFF this year, in the main dealer's rooms, so if you're attending please come say hi! :)
I haven't been able to update my comic here on FA since people aren't getting notifications right now - I am continuing to update it on my Deviant Art site (I will continue here when FA gets fixed) - so if you want to see what's happening before then, the continuation is here: http://foxfeather248.deviantart.com.....ge-6-497721541
I'm also announcing new comic pages on my Twitter : https://twitter.com/foxfeather
I've also got a little bit of honey left for sale - the gift jars make wonderful holiday gifts :) http://ofbees.com/honey/
There is one hive sponsorship (adopt bees and get honey!) left right now as well: http://ofbees.com/hive-shares/
Aaand last but not least, I've got a whole bunch of really fun holiday gift ideas on my website: Tagua totem animal pendants, animal stack prints, a large variety of t-shirts and more! http://foxloft.com/
Here's to hoping FA gets fixed soon! I really miss seeing all the art, my inbox has basically been empty for a week or so.

Raw Wildflower Honey and Hive Shares Available! Bee Update
Posted 11 years agoWe've had a productive year at the apiary, here's a link to an update from the season at the bee yard with lots of photos, including candlemaking and the honey harvest here: http://ofbees.com/2014/10/state-of-.....lemaking-2014/
We have a small amount of honey from our 2014 batch available here: http://ofbees.com/honey/
We've been getting amazing reviews from people about it. It's different from last year - it's got an almost citrusy flavor to it, and no heavy aftertaste like a lot of honey tends to have.
We are pleased to announce that our 2015 adopt-a-bee hive shares are available right now (and almost sold out)!
http://ofbees.com/hive-shares/
By popular request we've added a meadmaker's share as well and will have one full brand new hive installation (the super sponsorship) for our 2015 expansion plans.
You can see some photos of our 2014 hive sponsor hives here: http://ofbees.com/2014/09/2014-hive.....hare-sponsors/
Last year hive shares sold out quite quickly, and since the expanding of our apiary is going to be very small for next spring (we're getting close to the maximum amount of bees we can manage ourselves) we expect these will go quite fast. I want to thank you for your consideration and support of our project! Thanks to our 2014 sponsors we were able to manage seven colonies of bees for the year and restore two acres of native prairie on our land!
We're also trying our hand at mead making this year, we are just starting a batch of Cyser (apple cider mead) and Melomel (a plum honey wine) - very excited to see if those turn out!
Thanks for reading. Beees!

Furry Migration Review!
Posted 11 years agoFurry Migration, the new convention in Minnesota was this past weekend, I would say it was an amazing success, especially for a first year convention. They had 543 registered attendees and I think around 140 fursuits! It was a fantastic gathering of the local community and testament to all the work the staff put in to put together a really great new con. :)
The staff and volunteers really went above and beyond to make things organized and well run, I was really, really impressed.
I was really thankful to have been invited to be a part of this event and look forward to attending in 2015. :)
City Pages, a Minneapolis media publication out out a little video on it here: http://blogs.citypages.com/dressing.....k.php#Comments
Thank you, FM, and the midwest (and beyond) furry community for being so awesome :)

So much social media, oy!
My next convention will be Texas Furry Fiesta - I've got a dealer's table there I'll be at all weekend. We had a great time there last year and are looking forward to going back next month. :)
I've been quite busy between the art, farm, travel, and various goings-on which have kept me mostly offline for awhile, looking forward to doing some catching up soon. I've got a few big projects finishing up that I look forward to sharing soon. :)
Hope everyone is doing well (and staying warm)! Minnesota here has been super frigid cold lately, the coldest winter I can remember and that's been tough. We might lose all our colonies of bees this year, the weather has just not relented and we've had so many days in the subzero (down to about -50 with blasting winds) it's really hard on them. We're not sure yet, there's a slim chance they will pull through, but we'll likely have to start new colonies this next spring from new stock. Reported losses are getting into the 70% range across the area right now. Poor bees!

Honey and Honeybee Hive Shares - Adopt a bee colony!
Posted 12 years agoI am pleased to announce we have a few hive shares for 2014 left - you can find more info on my bee website here: http://ofbees.com/hive-shares/
It's a fantastic way to get honey, support bees and beekeeping, and be involved without the work (or chance of being stung!)
Thanks to the wonderful generosity of people who supported our Bees & Trees project in 2012 my husband and I were able to establish an apiary (place where you keep bees) on our farm. Our interest in the bees has flourished into a passion and we've gone from two colonies our first year to our current five colonies of bees and are planning to expand the bee yard a bit next spring. We are trying to use the most natural, organic methods possible in bee management, not using any chemicals or feeding honey substitutes from our bees.
If you're interested in our project or want to learn more about our bees and beekeeping, we have a blog on our site: http://ofbees.com/
Thanks for looking. And ... Beeeees!

Bees arrived - Bee video/blog update!
Posted 13 years agohttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=01gtsL8Oqeg
Thanks to all of our generous and awesome donors from our Kickstarter campaign, we now have bees! We have successfully set up our first apiary and have been photo documenting the process of getting, installing, and checking on our new bees. :)
You can follow our bee adventures on Blogger, http://foxloft.blogspot.com/ Tumblr http://foxloft.tumblr.com/ or livejournal : http://foxfeather.livejournal.com/
It's been absolutely amazing so far - despite the fact our bee suits didn't arrive on time and we did our first colony installations and checks without any protection - it was a bit intense, since I've never had my face in a swarm of bees before, but they were surprisingly gentle and uninterested in me - way too much change and things going on for them to care, I think.
Thank you again to everyone who has made this happen for us! We will also be housing native bumblebees as well as blue orchard bees/mason bees and other species and will be updating with lots of info about those soon! I don't plan to keep posting journals here since I know not everyone on FA is as interested - but if you are just follow one of our blogs above - there's lots to come!
