Harmony supports Natura
General | Posted 11 years agoNatura, by mDiyo, is now a mod supported by my texture pack for Minecraft, Harmony.
With that, I am taking a break from texture pack development (but not leaving further version support), for some time. Perhaps I will get some art done in the mean time.
Harmony is also ready for Minecraft 1.8. Let your friends know!

Fur Affinity will delete anything rendered by a non-Second Life game even if every visible pixel was the result of your handy work and not computer algorithm. Meaning I cannot upload any screen shots demonstrating my progress with my texture packs here.
I am NOT complaining. I am not the one paying for the servers or maintaining them, the admins of FA are well entitled to exclude any content for any reason. Just letting any of you know that I will no longer be trying to post updates on my texture pack here.

Harmony Textures for Bibliocraft now
General | Posted 11 years agoIf my texture pack still interests you, I now have an addon with it to support Bibliocraft, my favorite mod.
Sadly, only 128x resolution for now, and only available through this direct download.

Where has Foxfire been?
General | Posted 12 years agoTo avoid the Text wall: the summary is "Lots of video games, with incomplete texture work for Bibliocraft, Thaumcraft, Mystcraft, Biome's O'Plenty... ect." Also; expect a bit more art and occasional updates concerning texture pack work.
It has been too long since I posted to FA. I never set out with "I'm going to become a popular artist on the internets" when I joined, but now I am giving some consideration to garnering SOME attention. I would certainly like my texture pack to reach an audience that appreciates it, while avoiding learning the ins and outs of yet another forum. Minecraft on Curseforge kinda dissuaded me with their legal requirements concerning texture packs. (I mean, come ON! you're making something build around someone ELSE's 'Intellectual Property', why are you insistent on a legal 'terms of use') (make note: feel free to use anything I post for any purposes you want, just know that it would be kind to others if you were honest about where it came from)
Ok, so why have I not been posting art or updates to my texture pack? Well, no art because of texture pack work (and video games) and no update to texture pack because vanilla has not added any new items/blocks to texture. Most of my time has been spent making textures for the mods I use, as well as Team Hatress 2 and Mechwarrior Online. The latter is not only nostalgic for me, but I've found a number of players to play it with over voice, which really taps into one of my most desired game experiances: being part of a functioning team.
I am posting this text wall in the hopes of communicating to my watchers what to expect from this account. I DO intend to make more art; what, I don't know, as well as inform you guys when a minecraft mod gets support in my texture pack.
Sometime I NEED to learn HTML5 so I can post my texture pack on a search-engine friendly webpage.. but that will be later.
To sound like I've actually been doing things, here are the textures I have made, 128x res only, compatible with Harmony:
Bibliocraft;
Vanilla Wood Desks, bookshelves, shelves, potion shelves, cases and weapon racks, the same items in a number of woods: Jacaranda, Willow, Acacia, Dark, Hellbark, Pine, Fir, Cherry
Biomes O'Plenty:
All Ores and related blocks/ingots/gems of same, Red rock, red cobble, eight of the flowers... Jacaranda, Persimmon, Fir, Pine, Willow, Acacia, Bamboo, Cherry and Palm tree bark, leaves, planks and saplings, Mud, mud bricks, Amethyst armor and giant bone parts.
Mystcraft:
All Books, the lectern, ink mixer, book binder and Mystcraft Villiager
Natura:
all four stages of Barley, Blood wood bark and planks, darkwood bark, planks and leaves, Tigerwood bark, planks and Willow bark, planks leaves and sapling
Thaumcraft:
research table, both Thaumonomicon textures, Amber ore and related blocks, cinnabar ore, Greatwood bark, planks, leaves and sapling, Silverleaf bark, planks and leaves, Shimmerleaf flower, Table, all crystal shards, and the Thaumcraft villager
Tinkers Construct:
All parts, casts and patterns for sword blades, shovel heads, excavator heads, pickaxe heads, axe heads, lumberaxe heads, tool rods, tough rods, and ingots. Crafted textures for swords, Pickaxes (including modifiers), shovels, excavators, hammers, axes, lumberaxes. all but the seared glass for the smelter, all brownstones, and the Tinker Villager. I know I'm forgetting some things. :D

of Texture packs and Time
General | Posted 12 years agoAt present, I've decided to postpone Harmony support for mods. This is largely due to mods being grossly undocumented. It is hard for me, even when I extract a mod's graphic assets, to look at a 16x box of pixels and try to figure out what is being represented. A lot of moders seem to have a pretentious insistance that full disclosure 'spoils the fun of exploration'. ... because we all know people look up things in wikis without expecting spoilers.
I am probably going to crank out some wood support for Bibliocraft as well as trees and such for Biome's O'Plenty. These will be half-jobs, with the base sprites made in 128x, and then summarily resized once in Photoshop.
In the mean time, I'm considering making yet another texture pack, a smaller resolution for better frame rate (the other problem with my mod packs that curbs enthusiasm) This one might not be released, but will be used to hone my ability to crank out textures even faster.
If you have read to this point, please know that I am willing to tweak a texture pack (even ones not done by me) for free, if you can be patient and let me know what you want. Standing offer.

If you guys want to take a look at it.
As of yet, I ran out of time for condensing a 32x version. I'll be working on that Sataurday, as well as trying to retool the leaves of 16x.
I have no expectation that you guys will give me feedback, but it would be immensely useful. We have five days before I'll call it completely done, and stick with what I've posted, so this is your opportunity to...
- Compare differences between resolutions.
- Note something you simply do not like and tell me about it.
- tell me about a missing texture. (note, I will not bother with the silverfish).
As ever, THANK you guys so much for your support. In particular:

pedrohHarmony Texture pack MIGHT be done
General | Posted 12 years agoIt's 2 AM here, so I'll want to sleep first, and then double check. Only the 128x version is done, and that's only if I didn't miss something in my sleep-deprived state.
Later on this week, I will link several 'pre-releases', hopefully at different resolutions, for you guys to help me bug-check them [read: play with them before anyone else].
Even with the texture pack done, I'll be trying to get the host website for it to look a bit more professional too, so it won't be officially released for sometime. I AM confident that it will be out before Minecraft 1.7 AND it will be compatible with the same.
Lol, just remembered... the paintings. I have no shortage of my own doodles, but I really never made paintings for minecraft specifically. That will be later today then.
Soon, guys. Again, I can't thank you all enough for your support.

General | Posted 12 years agoAs I'm typing this, I'm working on the GUI for the Creative menu for Harmony. I made a nether dragon that is suprisingly good, completing my mob collection as far as I'm concerned. I have no intention of skinning the silverfish.
Next will be particle effects, three files, and then I should have the 128x version wrapped up when I tackle the upcomming Stained Glass. Stained Glass is dyed glass being made for 1.7 if you haven't been following the development, and each is it's own texture rather than tinting the existing glass texture in game through procedure. This is pretty exciting, as I'll be able to make the colored version of the glass into a decorative mozaic.
All in all, it looks like I'll have 128x version done before 1.7. I hope to have resolution version down to 16x ready by then, as well as the website's official host of them. Things are looking good.
Backburner: "Fantasy Bikini armor" addon.

General | Posted 12 years agoItems. All done.
Blocks. All done.
Horses and their Armor. Done. Added to existing Mobs because I feel I am under a time limit. At some point I might return to the Mobs and revise them to match Harmony's Pallet, but right now I don't think they detract terribly.
Inventory GUI is done, working on the other GUI's.
When I have the GUIs, Particles, Icons (the health bar, ect) done, I think this will be publish ready. I am hoping to have this all done by 1.7's release. I don't know.

Minecraft news you should be aware of
General | Posted 12 years agoI do not know if you have been following minecraft's continued development, so I thought I'd point out that 1.7 will apparently allow you to load multiple resource packs and prioritize which ones are used first.
What this will mean is that you will be able to supplement a texture pack you like but lacks a texture with another resource pack to avoid settling for default.
This is far better than having to compile your own texture packs, waiting on lazy artists to complete their work, or enduring that shock of having a 16x texture in an otherwise 128x experiance.
Just wanted you to know :D

upcoming "beta' texture pack and...
General | Posted 12 years agoI am behind schedule on the "Harmony" texture pack, but I have almost all of the blocks done, with a few items. Upon the completion of the blocks, I'll link to the beta versions of my texture pack for you _wonderful_ people to test out and critique.
If you are really kind, I will be looking for the following as a critique;
-Does it look good overall?
-Do the lower resolutions still look reasonable, or are their obvious "I-resized-it-in-photoshop-durr" effect?
-Does any item/block look out of place.
Those of you who REALLY want to promote my texture pack could consider building something to make advertisement screenshots for.
I don't require any of this, mind you. I know it's a favor to ask, not a demand. Simply posting "looking forward to it" has been heartwarming to say the least.
Thank you.

General | Posted 12 years agoI have decided to call the texture pack "Harmony". It is a good name for the principle of it.
You may or may not have noticed, but in 1.6 Birch trees no longer share their leaf texture with oak trees, and all trees now have their own unique log top. This is exciting to me, and I've already added birch leaves and multiple log tops.
A rough poll of all textures and I believe I am 25% done with Vanilla minecraft textures. This is going to start picking up, since most of the time was spent devising the process.

Minecraft texture pack footnote 3
General | Posted 12 years agoI still have not settled on a name for this texture pack.
I just now finished the Pistons, to add to cobblestone, moss stone, all three stone bricks of Vanilla, all swords, all logs and wooden planks. Also, I have a small chest done.
I do not know if I will finish this by the end of this month, but am confident Vanilla will be complete sometime in august. This texture pack will be different, to say the least. a bit more cartoony, but hopefully not terribly so. it is a touch more 'realistic' than sphax and that makes me happy.
Everything meshes well too, so whether I like this pack or not, it definately fulfills its mission.

I am considering hosting a minecraft (FTB) server
General | Posted 12 years agoI recently figured out how to host a Feed the Beast minecraft server, and am considering hosting one if I can find some good players for it.
It would be a white-listed server, and probably open only for a few days of the week at a time. At the moment I haven't given much consideration to whether it would be survival, creative, or some imported "race for the wool" kinda of map.
I also think it might be a good idea if I could somehow use the server to promote my upcoming texture pack when it is done, perhaps insisting on some sort of group archetectural project that uses a good variety of materials.
One rule I know I will insist on, "Talk with Foxfire when he is logged in." The only minecraft server I was part of was a cherished memory until some of the friends left, people new to me were invited on, and suddenly everyone was seemingly aloof and silent. I don't want that.
Right now, I'm leaning heavily towards the Yogspack collection of mods, but could probably be talked into any mod pack from FTB.
This would be a good opportunity for any of you minecraft fans to negotiate a server experiance. Are there any interested out there?

General | Posted 12 years agoWork has been slower than I would like; oweing to starmade ( https://www.star-made.org ), Starcraft, a chest texture I'm unhappy with, and Mojang changing how texture packs will be in the future. (still need to investigate that).
This being said, I've started work on basic block shapes, so I don't think my current delay will have much of an effect. I am trying to target August, or thereabouts, as the release date for my final (and hopefully top-notch) texture pack.
Big Shout out to the following for support of my texture pack development. When I have a reasonable alpha, I'll let you guys know to test it.

General | Posted 12 years agowhen I told someone "allow three months for delivery" [new texture pack] I wasn't kidding.
So far, I've made the Sword shape, so that I now have swords of any material, and today I finished the small chest, allowing me to quickly swap in chests of any material.
A screen shot will come up in the next two days.
But think about it, that's two things, and only two... so far. oh well.
