My status and the Coming Minecraft Texture Pack
General | Posted 14 years agoAlright, I have a job now. I'm content with it, it covers the bills, the job description is well within my tollerances. While I only work four days of the week, I am up at 1:30AM to prepare for work, and experiance 12 hour work days. I'm not complaining, it simply means that about 70% of my time is spent either at work, or sleeping.
That being said, I'm slowly getting back to as much of my routine as I can, to include my final* texture pack, which I call Hybrid.
Hybrid begins at 128x resolution, and attempts to take the best of all my previous texture packs and put them into a single one. Going is a bit slow, because of the resolution, but what little I've accomplished I like very much. I intend to remaster Hybrid at 64x, 32x, and 16x so that it can be enjoyed by all.
I am also trying to give out free lessons on Texture packs and avatar skins for Minecraft to any who are interested, but given my schedule, it's a slow process. If you want my input, please have patience.
I'm sorry to say I did not have a "Doodles of December". I made so few of them, they were either crappy lines are porn, and didn't feel I should compile them. Hopefully I'll have some non-minecraft art to post soon.

*I say last, but considering the glee I get from making a texture pack, I'll probably be making more.

New Texture Pack unveiled: Upscale
General | Posted 14 years agoI'll understand if Upscale does not catch on like my other texture packs, but it was fun, and artistically a challange, to do.
Those of you who like my texture packs, please consider informing others who play the game.

Ornate Water Fixed
General | Posted 14 years agoversion 1.5 (06DEC11) of my Ornate texture pack now has transparent water.
Funny thing with digital art; what you see is not always what you get. I collapsed the layers in my .RIFF file, and THEN when I saved it as a png, Minecraft recognized water's transparency.

The Next Texture Pack...
General | Posted 14 years agoYes... I can't stop making them.
I know that at least two of you out there are mildly interested in my texture packs, so I thought I'd share a bit of a hint at the next texture pack. It's an experiment that has so far yeilded suprising results.
I call it Upscale, and the general theme is to take Default Minecraft, scale it to 64x tilesets, and then embelish it subtley. You'll see what I mean when I have the terrain file finished and can upload some screenshots.

Ornate Texture Pack 'fixed"
General | Posted 14 years agoFor those of you that chose my Ornate Texture pack, again, Thankyou.
I discovered an error in my file formating that led to paintings not having the transparencies they ought to. Please consider re-downloading Ornate, and getting version 1.1 of it.
Two of the paintings are "drapes" and can now be used to put drapes around windows (2x2 and 3x4).
Thankyou for your patience.

Four Texture Packs ready for Minecraft
General | Posted 14 years ago I have updated my three previous texture packs, and have added a fourth one, all in time for Minecraft's Official Release.
8Bit attempts to recreate the feel of the old video games through use of a limited palette.
Foxfire's 16x is an original re-imagination of Minecraft that retains the default resolution.
Foxfire's 64x is a total conversion texture pack in high resolution.
and now...
Ornate, a 32x texture pack with care to look decorative.
Try them all at :

For those of you who play MINECRAFT
General | Posted 14 years agoI am working on my fourth texture pack. As of the "Release Canidate 2", you still need a patcher to use higher resolution texture packs. You can find one here:
http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic.....er-hd-fix-222/
Also note it now supports another mod "Random Mobs". I encourage you look into it, as I will retool my existing texture packs sometime to make use of it.

Future Texture Packs
General | Posted 14 years agoI am looking into makeing more texture packs for minecraft; the 1.9 pre-releases really kept me busy with my existing ones.
One future texture pack is probably going to be another "8bit" themed one, and I'm looking at the sprites of Megaman 1 - 6 for inspiration. To compare the NES games to my Texture pack, the Megaman backgrounds were comprised of 4 colors, and tessalated at 32x; my textures used 5-6 colors and tessalated at 16x.
Like as not, I'll be making the next 8-bit a 32x tile set (by then minecraft should support higher res textures without modding) and I will use only 4 colors per tile. We'll see.

Minecraft Texture Packs; version 3
General | Posted 14 years agoYour Best Bet for my Texture packs
General | Posted 14 years agoMinecraft 1.9 Prerelease THREE is out... with more textures..
For those of you who wish to use my texture packs, THANK YOU... and ...
You should probably just wait until minecraft updates, and THEN go get the latest version of my texture packs. I'm trying to keep up, it's a delight, but at the same time, Mojang is still adding at an incredible rate, so I probably won't have everything until 'the night before'.

Will trade Artwork for Steam Items
General | Posted 14 years agoI am Foxfire_kadrpg on Steam. Please add me.
Have any tradable items on steam that are of no use to you? Consider trading them to Foxfire for artwork.
I am completely serious on this idea, and there is no set price either. Make a request with an offer, and I'll endevour to produce the art. Understand that I will be approaching requests in arbitrary order, meaning that the first suggestion might get postponed because a "better offer" was received.
I am trusting enough in this regard; you will not need to trade the items to me until you receive your art.
Let's try this out, shall we?

My texture packs are NOT ready for 1.9... (new stuff added)
General | Posted 14 years agoMinecraft:
I'm confident I'll update my texture packs before 1.9's official release but for now, Version 2 of any of them lacks all of the good things added in the latest pre-release.
Just letting you guys know.

My NEXT texture pack
General | Posted 14 years ago I can't stop editing the textures of minecraft.
At present I have a vague idea of what I want to do next; "Dark/Gritty" and "Stylized"... I am thinking about trying to adapt something from a celtic parchment into minecraft's blocks.... if that makes sense to anyone.
I do not know what resolution I'll make this at, or maybe two; 16x for normal users, and then something higher to get the effect I want. This texture pack will only affect the blocks and the paintings for simplistic sake. I might get back to the items though, since I think tools should also look like the world they are in.

My minecraft texture packs have been updated.. again

My Minecraft Texture packs are fixed
General | Posted 14 years agoMy texture packs require adjustment
General | Posted 14 years ago Mojang was nice enough to 'leak" a pre-release version of 1.8, which has allowed me to double check the textures I edited blindly.
All three of my texture packs have problems, primarily just the chests, which I'm working on now.

Posts are down, art is not. Minecraft.. minecraft... minecra
General | Posted 14 years agoLately (by Foxfire time, I mean the last four months), Minecraft has really taken ahold of me. I have a patcher that lets me alternate between resolutions, and I've been endevouring to make texture packs at different resolutions for it.
I've created a total of four I consider 'complete', albiet three of them were modifications to Mixcraft21's HD pack, so I'm reluctant to post them unless I know he would be comfortable with it. I am more inclined to simply finish up the parts I did not change, and create a fifth one from that.
I have two more I am working on right now; a 16x tile set (as a fall back incase 1.8's new ceiling height bogs down my laptop, and a 64x tile set that I'm about 40% through on the Terrain file alone.
When it comes to submissions, even on FA (which I feel is more relaxed than DA), I'm reluctant to post something unless it's a good work. Unfortunately, given my patience, I tend to spend 6 hours a day making stuff that would 'go straight to scraps' and another 2 hours in the evening making garbage for my more craven side.
Most of the people watching me are also watching about 4,000 other people, so I don't think I'm letting anyone down by not posting as frequently, but I would like it to be known I AM alive, and AM active in art.
oh well, expect more Minecraft stuff as time goes on.

Foxfire is open for Commisions
General | Posted 15 years ago I am now ready for commisions on the following terms.
Artwork will be $20 US. All artwork is done in Painter, full color unless you request otherwise. There is no extra charge for number of characters or complexity, although if you wish to recreate the Battle of Troy with 600 of your fursonnas, I might decline. I am open to any subject matter, but will flatly refuse political commentary and images of intimidation or extortion. I reserve the right to politely refuse other subject matter on a case by case basis.
All artwork is sized to fit your screen's resolution if you are aware of it.
Minecraft avatars will be $1 USThis work has the added advantage of letting you preview my progress without imparting a free sample that later, magically becomes adopted after the sale was declined.
Help me help you; I assume you are making your choice to commision me based on the art I've displayed. I will not debate the technical quality of my work, only the composition. Durring a commision, I will send you lots of works in progress, which are yours to keep. The more avid your feedback the faster my production will be and the better quality too.
To contact me, simply note me from Fur Affinity, or send an email with the subject line "Commision" to kdaniel@tranquility.net.
EDIT: I cannot garentee a complete revamp of minecraft, particularly at higher resolution or that of mods. I would be happy to edit the Terrain file for you up 128x.

Commissions coming soon
General | Posted 15 years ago As of now, I'm creating a Paypal account, and plan to take commisions in the future. Full list of restrictions will come later, but for now, plan on the works being color, sized to match your screen, and only $15 US. I will not charge extra for more figures, or a type of shading... I find that practice silly.
Before I start, I intend to create a small, sample portfolio that will try and illustrate how well I can draw what I draw.
I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas, too.
