Coronavirus PSA
General | Posted 6 years agoTo all my friends on the internet out there.
This outbreak is a real threat. Please, for your loved ones’ sake and your own, do not dismiss its information around you. There are fake news and misleading info, but you have to take it all in and sieve it. Here are some things I highly recommend:
- This virus can lay dormant in a host for up to 14 days. During that time, the infected person can already transmit it to others. https://www.who.int/news-room/q-a-d.....-coronaviruses
- It weaker when temperature is above 25 degree Celsius. Keep your surrounding ventilate and warm (it can still feed off from your cells when infected, though) https://www.scmp.com/news/china/sci.....nt-bank-summer
- But, with low temperature, it can survive for days on a surface. https://www.sciencealert.com/study-.....d-on-a-surface
- Your government WILL lie to you to keep you from panicking. I’m begging you to seek out info on other sources
Is it deadly? Yes. Can it be cured? Maybe. But to prevent is better than to cure. Here’s what you can do in the mean time:
- Practice hygiene. Wash your hand, clean your house, sanitize your surrounding. If you can’t wash your hand for some reasons, use hand sanitizer with 60% alcohol or more. https://www.propublica.org/article/.....mended-alcohol
- Wear a mask. It’s not to protect you but the people around you. Wearing a mask keeps your sneeze and other nasty body fluids from spreading around. You don’t know if you’re infected or not.
- Avoid crowded places. You can’t help going to the grocery store, but you’ll live without going to that rock concert or that comic con you’ve planned. You’ll never know if there’s an infected person there.
- Spread this! Don’t panic, but don’t be complacent either!
- Press your government to get off their asses and ACT! While doctors and scientists work on a cure, help them by hygiene discipline to prevent the virus’ spread.

General | Posted 11 years agoFirst of all, greeting to all TMNT fans, old and young, boys and girls, who loves the turtles of all versions. Be it comics, the 80s cartoon, movies, 2k3 or 2k12.
We all loves these green dudes. We write stories, we draw fan art to express our love to them. It's what we fans do in all fandom, not just TMNT. And here's where the problem comes in.
It infuriates me to no end to learn that the work of my friends, my idolized artists are stolen and reposted throughout the internet without their consent. Granted, the TMNT belonged to Peter & Laird, to 4KidsTV, and now to Nickelodeon. The artists have nothing but their talent, effort and time to create wonderful arts of our favorite turtles for us to share and enjoy. They pour their everything into their work, and that means that piece of artwork belongs to them, regardless of what they draw.
Not only are the arts stolen, they are traced over, re-colored and such. It's suffice to say that this is a form of plagiarism, since the original work is re-done, no matter in what way.
I have read enough of my friends' stories during my time in this TMNT fandom, noticing how little the watermark on the piece can protect the artist's creation. So here is what I suggest:
We form an alliance. Notice newcomers, welcome them with open arm and show them the correct way to develop their talent without re-using the work of others. As for re-posters, I'd like for us to create a shared account on other websites such as Facebook and Tumblr. When we discover a stolen art, we will use this account to give them a warning and ask that they remove the piece.
All this steps are formalities that we will use for those who are nice and willing to comply. If they refuse to, then we'll show no mercy and report them using the shared account. We're a group, so we can point out where exactly the piece is stolen from, and the website can take care of the rest.
This is what I have in mind. Share it with everyone and tell me what you think about it. It's about time we artists and fans stick together for our sake.
