Just wondering.
Posted 6 months agoBeen hearing form some people recently who had said that my character Cassie was one of the reasons they got into furry fandom. Did my character or any of my work concerning her really make a difference in this fandom? Did it contribue to it's growth or am I just trying to grow a swelled head? I dunno. Just something I was pondering.
Times change
Posted a year agoAs most of you must know by now, Dragoneer the founder of FA has passed. While this is a tragic thing and I am grateful to him for giving me a place to host my sites, what I have been seeing is a lot of other site holders on FA starting to panic and begin making posts about where else they can be found. What everyone seems to forget is that Dragoneer long ago turned FA over to others to run and manage and I am quite confident that FA will be around for many years to come. There is no need to behave like rats jumping off a sinking ship people. Let's just keep our heads here. I'm sure that is what Dragoneer would have wanted.
Here's to 2024
Posted 2 years agoWow. A whole year since I wrote anything here. That figures for me I guess. Well, at least I kept to my promise to get more art of Cassie done this past year and I will try to keep that train going since my finances have returned to pre covid levels at last. Might write something over this next year.who knows? Anyway hope everyone has a great 2024!
New Year, some changes
Posted 3 years agoIt's been a bit since I last updated this thing, but I hope in the coming year to change all that. For a start, I actually wrote a new story for the first time in three years. It's not much, but it's a start. https://www.furaffinity.net/view/50449686/
I also hope to post more stuff here over the coming year. Nice to have some goals to look forward to, huh?
Anyway, that you all for fallowing my page and I hope you all have a good 2023.

Updates
Posted 4 years agoIt's been a while since I last posted here and some things have happened in my life. First off, my older brother passed away on Thanksgiving, but due to the "coof" we couldn't get him buried until two weeks later. Meaning I didn't celebrate the Holidays at all last December. Then, I ended up having to fix my furnace & refrigerator. Plus, all of my cost of living expenses shot up due to the state of the economy. Because of this, I was forced to sell off two of my electric guitars. Normally, I get a lot of OT at my job, but that hasn't started to happen until about a week or two ago mainly due to the winter. So, that's a blessing. I did manage to get ownership of the Cassie the Rock Vixen FA page, but I still cannot access any of the functions. The admins. keep telling me to log out of my FA page and go to Cassie's page. I have done this repeatedly, but every time I try to log into that page I keep getting redirected back to my own. I have told the admins. this but they don't seem to get my problem. I thought it might be an issue with cookies, but I did a clean and it still did it. Well, at least the site is listed as active, so that's something.
Today I turn 56.
Posted 4 years agoAnd I feel the same. Went to the doctors yesterday for my annual physical. Thanks to the diet I have been on since Dec. I have lost 60 lbs. My cholesterol, and all other vitals are just fine. Not sure what the future brings, but it's looking okay so far.
My stories
Posted 5 years agoIf anyone wants to read all of the short stories I have ever written about Cassie and her friends, here is the link to them: https://www.planetfurry.com/~cassie.....SZs-vnqszPtXno
Mine are listed under the name : Earl Bacon.
The should be read in order since they are part of a story arc.
In case anyone is interested in them that is.

Thanks and some clarification
Posted 6 years agoTo all those who sent me best wishes over the past few months over the losses I have had ,I just want to say thanks. It means a lot. However, I have moved on with my life so I think it's best not to dwell on that stuff any further. I have had a couple of people send me notes thinking they were taking to my character Cassie instead of me. Let me be clear. This page belongs to me, Foxonian. That is who you are taking to if you send a note here. I will be happy to answer all questions about the Rock Vixen and her gang, but please know who you are addressing kay? Now, back to our regularly scheduled programming.
Neil Peart - RIP
Posted 6 years agoGrowing up, one of the first bands that got my interested in music was RUSH. All throughout my teens and well into my 20's,30's and beyond, I bought every one of their albums the day it was released. Still have all my original RUSH LP's going back to 1976. I knew the reason Neil had to retire was due to his cancer and I had hoped he was on the mend, but brain cancer is one of the worse forms of it and few who get it there survive. When I was creating Cassie and her band, RUSH was never far from my mind. I always liked to think that the Rock Vixen took some inspiration from them as well as the band's drummers Alex & Anja did from Neil. I will miss "The Professor" since his lyrics and drumming were the core that RUSH was built on. It feels in a way that a part of my youth has now closed. I was lucky to see RUSH in concert during the "Signals" tour back in 1982, but the "dope smoke" was so foggy in the nosebleed seats that I had, you couldn't see much. But, Boy could I hear them! If you know any of RUSH's albums, play the song "Afterimage" off "Grace Under Pressure" as tribute to a great musician. I know I will.
Cloudchaser - RIP
Posted 6 years agoTwo days ago I lost of one the best friends I ever had in the fandom to date. He not only helped me by starting up two websites dedicated to my character: Cassie-The Rock Vixen but he went out of his way to promote her on every furry website he was a part of. He also was a sounding board for my writing, giving me hints and suggestions on how his character Vixina should be portrayed. Speaking of which, Cloud once said that if anything should ever happen to him, I was to consider Vixina to be one of my characters and to keep writing about her. Not sure how I feel about that, but it was a wish of his so I should honor it. Every Christmas we used to give each other furry themed gifts and try to see who was the better giver. I gave him a lot of Red Wolf Beer stuff I found at flea markets and such. He usually gave me a fox item or two.Plus, we traded obscure metal albums a lot. God! I have known and talked with this guy since 1997 when I first met him on the old alt.fan.furry BBS board. Now, it's like there is a hole in my heart that won't close. I really thought I was going to be the one to pass away first and was even starting to make arrangements for Cloud to take all of my furry stuff after I passed. Now, I don't know what to do. I have started to talk to FA to see if I can get control of the cassietherockvixen page that was under Cloud's control so I can keep it updated, but I don't have much hope for that. *sigh* I feel so alone now.
An update
Posted 6 years ago Went to my latest post op surgical check up and was given the go ahead to return to work on Monday. The x-rays of my new knee looked great and I have regained just about all of my range of motion in that leg. Plus, I was able to drive the 4 hour round trip to the surgical associates office. Just want to once again thank everyone here for all your kindness and well wishes during this whole thing. It really means a lot.
Update
Posted 6 years agoBeen a while since I updated here. The new knee continues to do well. I am now riding a recumbent bike daily without issue. I am also driving more and can climb stairs carrying heavy items without issue. I can also carry up tp 30 lbs. without an issue. Walking is once again becoming more natural. Still have two and a half weeks until I go see my orthopedic surgeon to see if I can return to work on the 22nd(that's when my medical leave runs out without an extension). So far though,so good!
Update
Posted 6 years agoBeen a while since I posted anything here. Got though my knee replacement surgery without any major problems. Been doing physical therapy the past few weeks and have made some progress. I can walk with only one crutch and can climb stairs without an issue. Even mages to get behind the wheel of my truck and move it a bit. Still, I am only 3 weeks post ok and I am still taking prescription pain killers to sleep or after I do my therapy. That means that I have a long way to go. But, I Wil keep on plugging. Hopefully, I will be able to stand long enough to play one of my guitar soon. I find playing sitting down uncomfortable plus I still can't pick up a guitar case yet. It Wil come in time. Will try to update here better.
An update
Posted 6 years agoIn two days, I will be going into the hospital for knee replacement surgery As such, I most likely will not be online after tomorrow since I won't have internet access until I am discharged. I will make a post then to let folks know that I got though it. I haven't been in a hospital since I was 7 to have my tonsils out, so I am a bit scared about all this. But, my old right knee is almost totally destroyed and I won't be able walk much longer without the replacement. Still, it will be a long road back.
Just a note
Posted 6 years agoJust letting everyone know that in about 3 weeks I will be having my right knee replaced surgically. This is my first major surgery and I am a bit worried about it. Sucks getting old.
What a year so far.
Posted 7 years agoStill feeling down that Vicky Wyman passed on a few days ago. She was one of the first artists I saw when I discovered furry around 1992. Her Xanadu comic was one of my favorites and I chatted with her on FA from time to time. Since her loss and then losing my mom a few months back, 2018 is sucking big time.
For Cassie.
Posted 7 years agoIt was many years ago now that the Rock Vixen came into my life. She and I have grown together and she has given me so many great stories or been there when I was feeling alone. This song is for you.

I dunno.
Posted 8 years agoWhile I am a big fan of his LP model(that I have) I am still not convinced that doing this style of guitar was a bright idea. But it has the same configuration, so it might be okay. I was just never a big fan of this type of guitar.

Sadness here
Posted 8 years agoA few hours ago,our Irish Water Spaniel Zip passed away.He just turned 10 years old.He died in the kitchen in his sleep thank goodness. As I have with the other dogs we lost,I had to carry his dead body out of the house, into my truck and up tp the vet for cremation. No matter how many times I have done this thankless task,it never get's any easier. *sigh*
Chris Cornell of Soundgarden passes away
Posted 8 years agoOf an apparent suicide. He was 52. The same age I will be in a month or so. Another great musician and icon of the early 90's grunge era is no more.

An FYI to any guitartists
Posted 8 years agoAbout 15 years ago, I purchased an electric guitar for $200 used. It was an '84 Gibson Invader. For the first 10 years it was great guitar. Then, the pickups started to malfunction and the controls needed to be cleaned. With my life going in phases ,I put the guitar away in it's case and left it alone for 5 years. I recently took it to my luthier to get it overhauled and found that I had done something royally stupid. You see, when you put any stringed instrument away for a long period you MUST loosen the tension on the strings by tuning them down or removing the strings outright. Well, guess who forgot to do that? Yep. Me. As a result, my luthier told me that the neck of the Invader is "twisted like a propeller".Fortunately, due to it being a bolt on neck I do have some options like using pieces of wood to strengthen the neck at the body joint. The other options are having the neck plained down and refretted or going to the Gibson Custom Shop in Nashville and having them make me a new neck(that would be the most expensive option). I haven't decided which way to go just yet but it really pisses me off that I did that.
I mean, really???
