My Commission Rider
Posted 7 years agoI thought I would share this since I have already successfully attached it to a few commissions. These are my terms, as a customer purchasing a commission, which allow me the full enjoyment of the artwork I commissioned. I have been inspired to do this based on some bad experiences my friends and artists_beware have brought to my attention, as well as some bad experiences I had commissioning artists as well.
The artists I commissioned who I showed this document did not have a lot of clear terms of sale of their own, but they were agreeable to it. I'm not sure how well it would go with an artist who already has a ToS with some contradictory terms in it but I shy away from those artists anyway, I don't usually find artists with restrictive rules for commissioners provide a better product that's worth it.
You can check it out here http://quakefox.com/rider/ and I'd be curious what people think, in particular artists who accept commissions. By the way, I have never presented this as a take-it-or-leave-it and would be open to negotiating anything.

2018 Plans
Posted 8 years agoI have a dilemma! I am making my travel plans for next year, but I am not really sure what I want to do! I have limited vacation days and can't just go to every convention.
I have been making some changes to the conventions I go to based on my past experiences. Some cons haven't made the cut because I felt like I spent most of my time wandering around and not really spending quality time with friends. (Maybe good friends were even at the same con, but simply couldn't find any time to spend with everyone they know.) I'm not even 100% sure if I would choose to return to Eurofurence!
So, I need some friends to let me know if I should go to a particular con, and what might we do together there. It's not enough to just say you think a con is good - I want to know that someone would like to meet me there. There are a few cons I also could only go to if somebody lets me in their room, and for cost reasons, some cons where I hold a reservation but will only go if a few people split the room with me.
With that said, here's my current convention candidate list for the next year:
New Year's Eve Con (Chicago) - Have hotel room, need roommates.
Fur Squared (WI) - Have hotel room, need roommates.
Furnal Equinox (ON) - Hotel sold out :(
Motor City Fur Con (MI) - Have hotel room, need roommates.
Biggest Little Fur Con (NV) - Will try to get a room...
EAST - Has been recommended by a few of my friends who go to it. This is my alternate plan if I can't get a room for EF.
Eurofurence - 4,000+ people trying to get 1,000 rooms, there's a real chance I will not get a room even if I try to snipe the booking. If I can't get in the main hotel, I won't go.
MFF 2018 - Will try to get a room...
I would consider a con I haven't listed above, but again would need some assurance that there's people who really want to meet me there.

Posted 9 years ago(Found) Help, artist wanted!
Posted 9 years agoI want a 4 character commission for a Eurofurence door sign (check my gallery to see some past commissions!). It's general (PG) art and I expect to pay up to several hundred for the commission. Because it's for the con it has a hard end date. If you are an artist or know one interested please get in contact with me!
The RFQ is located here: http://quakefox.com/ef22comm
Artists who only do journal slots, random lottery, etc. need not apply as that will not work with the open bid process.

Artists wanted!
Posted 10 years agoHey! If you are an artist or know an artist looking for work, I have a commission request which is for everyone in my hotel room at MFF this year.
I won't spoil the artwork here, but it will be 4 characters, color with background, similar to my recent submission from Anthrocon. I'm doing a bid process for this where I show it to several artists and we'll pick the best balance of price and quality. I'm looking for notes directly from any artists who are interested, and I will reply back with a spreadsheet we've got prepared with everyone's reference art and details/terms on the commission.

Hi / OFA Fursuiter Wall
Posted 10 years agoI've never posted a journal here, so I might as well post one now!
I've been to several cons now and a few of you have seen me bouncing around. I have been talking to some other suiters with OneFurAll suits and a common question is "whose suit is that?" The tricky bit is identifying a suit by its looks if you just know the studio and don't know the name of the fursuit.
Enter the Fursuit Finder, which acts as a giant group photo. A few of us started gathering the data from public sources like FA, the OneFurAll site, and our own knowledge. When we got into pictures it was clear that some programming was needed and I got some hosting set up and put up the beta site you see here:
http://quakefox.com/finder/
It's a beta and has some known flaws, mostly on the editing side. It is a community edited site, so anyone who wants to contribute may contact me and inquire about an account. (I probably will only create accounts for commissioners, though, not the general public.)
This isn't just for OneFurAll either, I can set up a view for other studios. There is already one for Dragon-X2 at http://quakefox.com/finder/dragonx2/ . Each studio's page has its own maintainer and edit accounts.
