General | Posted 4 years agoHow can someone with a username like "anit-antifa" be anything but a fascist? I'd like to know, because AntiFa is, by name, against fascism, therefore anyone against the Anti-Fascist movement is, by definition, fascist. Am I right?

General | Posted 4 years agoTo all those who worried about me last night, rest assured that I am fine this morning. Yesterday morning one of our puppies had dug a hole under the fence and gotten into the neighbors' backyard. Again! So this time I had to build some wooden forms around the holes and pour concrete into them, each of which task was a lot of work. I had to go to Home Depot twice, and ended up getting four sixty-pound bags of concrete mix. I used up all four bags, and mixing more than one at a time was very tiresome, especially with that rickety old wheelbarrow that couldn't stand straight, causing the cement to leak out of one corner no matter what I did. We should have replaced that thing years ago. But at least now the puppies won't be able to dig under the fence, at least not in the same place!
Anyway, the whole experience has left me tired and sore, so I'll have to take it easy for the day.

General | Posted 4 years agoI slipped in the shower tonight, my body sprawled halfway across the ledge, and both my parents were worried half to death. I did, however, managed to get back up and straighten things out, so I'll probably be fine tomorrow. But if anything happens (or most likely, doesn't happen) to me after this, I will let you know tomorrow morning.

General | Posted 4 years agoWell, yesterday I finally got the last of my Christmas shopping done (thank God!), and am now waiting for some of the orders to be delivered. However, Mom still needs my help in finally putting away the food that was in the cooler cupboard and also setting up and decorating the Christmas tree, so don't expect any uploads or streams until after Christmas. I know, I've been delaying the completion of my two remaining comic commissions, and for that I apologize, but sometimes things just don't go the way we want them to. I also thank you for your continued patience as I try to find a way to get them done in a timely manner.

My niece, Emma, enjoyed her birthday card and her gift, so I hope Christmas will be at least as good for our family. I will try to stream the final part of the Christmas YCH tomorrow. General | Posted 4 years agoTwo days ago, I fixed the rat-hole in the cupboard behind the dishwasher. I used wire mesh and expanding foam and, although it was messy, it looks like it'll work to keep the rats out. Yesterday I sealed the gaps in the brick wall on the side of the TV room with cement, and then attached two long boards to the bottom of the window frame to seal the long gap at the top of the brick wall. As of this morning, we have seen no traces of further rat activity for two whole days, so it's likely that either the rats are either dead, or have left for greener pastures. I shudder to think it is also possible that my actions yesterday have resulted in surviving rats may well have been walled up alive inside the wall, and if that's true then I feel bad for them. But at least it looks like we now have the rat situation under control so we can get on with our holiday season, decorations and all.

General | Posted 4 years agoThis morning I found that the rats had gotten into the can cupboard beside the sink, and eaten some of the hamburger buns I put in there. I didn't see any holes in the cupboard but Mom and I will have to take everything out of it and make sure there are no holes or rats in it. We also found rat droppings on the tablecloth Mom had just put on yesterday, and one of the traps I set on the buffet last night was sprung, a dead rat on the floor in front of it. This means the problem is still nowhere near solved!
Mom had taken everything out of the cooler cupboard a while ago and put it on a table, but she still needs to clean the lazy Susans that go in it, and we then need to put everything back (after we clean it off that is). We also need to get everything out of the TV room (there is quite a lot of junk there behind which the rats could be hiding) and the brick wall outside of the Tv room is beginning to fall, having been flimsily built to begin with. So we borrowed a large jack from my brother to jack it up, so that we could close the gap at the top so the rats cannot get in. Mom is really stressed right now, as am I, and I can tell this is not gonna be over for a good long while. And I haven't even done any Christmas shopping yet!

General | Posted 4 years agoFirst of all, as we enter November I hope you all had a happy Halloween yesterday. We didn't have trick-or-treaters, or even Halloween decorations, so it pretty much went like any other Sunday night for us.
Second, as some of you may know, I have been thinking about doing animated commissions, as I would love to see characters like Amy bunny and Tacki animated. The problem is, how should I approach pricing for such a commission? One thing that occurred to me was that I should charge either $1 per frame, or $12-$24 per second. What do you guys think?
Third, I still have several pending commissions to work on, so please don't ask me for any more commissions until the queue is cleared. I have kept my clients waiting long enough; it's high time I got to work finishing what I owe them.
Lastly, here is the current queue:

General | Posted 4 years agoOn Friday, I took the rat back to Garcia's since Rascal didn't eat it. They didn't refund the $7 I paid for it, but it didn't matter; it's no great loss. Though I'm sure the rat was grateful to be alive. I saw a young ball python in a cage there for $225, and the thought had crossed my mind to buy it sometime, but it's too soon and I really don't want to spend the money.
Anyway, after I got home, I decided to clean up the cage, and put it and the other snake cage (which I haven't used for a long time) in the garage. I then dusted off the bookshelf where the cage was, and rearranged a bunch of my books, including all my Egyptology-related books (of which I have many) and filled that bottom shelf. Nevertheless I still can't help but think that both the cage and Rascal are still there. Not helping the matter is the fact that the backs of two of my books, The Tale of the Shipwrecked Sailor and Egyptian Hieroglyphics: How to Read and Write Them have been playing tricks on my eyes; when I look at them from the sides of my eyes, their light-colored backs almost look like Rascal's underside did when he would climb up on the cage. I have a feeling that this feeling is not going away anytime soon.
On an unrelated note, Dad wants me to help him with the Triumph restoration today, so I will not be streaming today. However, I may stream tomorrow morning; I'll update you tonite.

General | Posted 4 years agoThis morning I found Rascal with his head immersed in the water bowl in his cage, not moving at all. He must have drowned sometime in the night. It's all my fault he's gone; if I had fed him more often, like once a month or so, he might still be alive. I'm in tears as I type this; I don't know when I'll be able to stream again. But at least it's comforting to know he's not suffering anymore.

I may be too late
General | Posted 4 years agoMy pet ball python, Rascal, who I got fr Christmas 1992, is apparently unable (or unwilling) to eat the rat I bought for him today. I had gone without feeding him for months, and now I really regret it. Now he's limp and barely moves because of all the weight he's lost. I feel I may have to say goodbye to him soon; he is about 30 though, so it may just be his time.

As it turns out, my finger doesn't bother me half as much as I thought it would. Yes, it is somewhat uncomfortable, but it doesn't bother me enough to where I can't draw anymore. So I feel up to working on the YCH tomorrow morning, as early as 9 AM PDT (12PM EDT) if possible.
On an unrelated note, today I had to help Dad with the 1973 Triumph Tiger restoration project, which involve polishing work. Tomorrow, the painted frame will be delivered, so I will have to help Dad again to clean off the bench so we can put together a rolling chassis. The front forks are put together, and it won't be too much longer before we can finish the restoration.

I, for one, remeber hearing about it on TV, as I was on my way to work at the now-defunct YMCA of Kern County. I couldn't believe it; it was even brought up during the art class I was taking at the also now-defunct Bakersfield School of Art. Where were you on 9/11? Feel free to leave your memories in the comments below.

General | Posted 4 years agoIt really has been an awful (almost) two months since Tato's departure from this site, and I can't imagine anyone here is happy about it. It goes without saying that I cannot even come close to filling the void they left, and if I didn't have several commissions in the works, I would just up and leave right away. I have thought of doing that anyway despite my commitments, but I guess I will stay here for a couple months more.
Anyway, is there anyone else here who thinks I should leave this website, or should I stay? Is it not my time to leave now?

It goes without saying that I cannot even come close to filling the void they left, and if I didn't have several commissions in the works, I would just up and leave right away. Why I neglected to stream yesterday
General | Posted 4 years agoYesterday Mom had me clean bathrooms, sweep the floors, and do other household chores (I'm a poet and don't know it but my feet sure show it they're Longfellows!) so that my nephew, Lucas, could come over for a visit. I also had to buy groceries for pizza for dinner. Mom didn't take Lucas back home until about four PM, so I didn't have time to stream. I also ended up being too tired to really bother with it anyway, being out of shape and all. It really is hard to have time to get pending commissions done with my busy home schedule, and often I find it difficult to prioritize which things I should get done first. Today I have to work on weeding the flowerbeds; they're getting really overrun. Hopefully I will have time to stream today, but if not, you'll know why.

General | Posted 4 years agoToday I have been busier than I thought I would be, what with having to go grocery shopping (one store I had to visit a couple times because I forgot something), and since it's Sunday I also have been cooking ribs for dinner. Also, my parents are away on an all-day trip, so I pretty much had the whole house to myself, but because I did a lot of walking outdoors today, I am pretty tired at the moment. My being out of shape doesn't help, either. So I deeply apologize for not streaming today, but I will try to do a stream tomorrow.
