Ok I know I just posted someone else's commissions but I saw this and thought it was super cool! A pixel platforming game YCH, where your character is the main character of a mini game level. Hey guys, just making a small notice about an adopt I made. Trying an auction instead of a flat sale this time, just to see how it goes. This is just a general notice that I will be changing my sales policies as of April 1. Is anyone, or does anyone know of, a digital artist who charges sales tax? Is it common or uncommon? Obviously I imagine it varies depending on where the artist lives.

I haven't done much research on it but so far I think I incorrectly assumed I don't need to. I haven't personally seen anyone else do this. Based on where I live though, I think that I need to be charging it even for intangibles/services. Commissioners, does seeing such a thing bother you? Artists, if you do charge for sales tax, do you include it in the base price (and indicate so on your advertisements/TOS) or list is separately at the end of your invoice?

I thought up two ideas for my next YCH and now I can't choose. I might do both eventually, but which one should I do first?

I see this problem a lot with learning artists (who draw people, anyways) where the mass of the ribcage gets sacrificed, especially when trying to make an hourglass figure. You have to remember that the ribcage is a covering over what is basically two big balloons (your lungs), so the sides of the ribcage should curve outwards. I think of it as kind of like a flattened-ish egg?

is it confusing that the 1-4 types don't go in price order?

The numbers/letters are partially to make a shorthand for my own record keeping, and partially to make it super clear to me what people are ordering without having to ask followup questions. So originally I had Type 4 more costly than Type 3, but due to the time they take I decided to adjust the prices. If I changed the numbers I would have to make a mark in my recordkeeping somehow to point out where one type changed to a different one. Doable, but a little annoying.

What do you think? If it is unclear I will change it.

edit: Just to be more clear, the issue isn't with changing the actual commission thingy, which would be really easy. The issue is with my records/invoices which are ordered by the number/letter system (I also have it memorized). It makes it really easy for me to understand my records at a glance since lots of words together can be a little confusing when I'm working. The problem is that I can't edit paid invoices to change the numbers on them. I can deal with it (maybe make a note somewhere of what date I switched the numbers over?) if people find it confusing though, which is why I was asking instead of just doing it.

Okay well, I'm going to close commissions for now. I'm still working on replying to emails, which is taking awhile so sorry for anyone waiting to hear for me from a long time.

I'm a little nervous because I'm going to try and take more work than usual, so hopefully that works out okay and doesn't bite me in the butt! ;w;
