Red on my face
Posted 8 months agoJust realized I’ve been getting direct messages, some a few years old, that I missed the alerts on.
If you’re one of those I didn’t respond to please accept my apologies. I’m not on my FA profile much these days, mostly just scanning art then logging off. If I missed your message I’m extremely sorry and embarrassed, I tried responding to all of them in the queue but if I missed any and you respond again I promise to start checking weekly so doesn’t happen again.

Deceased Users
Posted 2 years agoOn a whim I was looking through some old art which brought me to looking at some old profiles which brought me to noticing some users who had passed quite a while ago haven’t had their accounts put into memorial status.
So I open up a ticket for Draconis aka Jugular Jaguar aka Calamity Cougar to see about having his accounts updated. Just after I submit the ticket I notice I had submitted a similar ticket for Trigger Happy Squirrel about a year ago. And that ticket had apparently been closed with the note that you have to provide an obituary or news article proving they passed away. And apparently linking to their wiki fur article isn’t enough. So I guess I can expect the same response to this ticket :/
It’s been so long since I created this account, did I provide my Real Life name when I did so? Does everyone provide their real life information when creating an account? An obituary is almost certainly not going to mention their fursona, even if it did there are names that overlap. Unless you have people who are well known in the fandom, how do you know the person in the obituary is the person on FA? And if they’re well known in the fandom, why do you require an obituary article when it’s also well known they had passed away?
Guess some accounts will appear alive until you look at the last time they submitted/faved something or there are a ton of comments mentioning sorrow at their passing.

And poof… gone
Posted 3 years agoNo, not about me - who has been a little bit more active in adding to my Favorites folder. I was looking through said folder for art I remember adding awhile back, went further back into the folder just to confirm but yup… art appears to have been taken down.
So I can’t just let that be, spent a good bit of time then scanning through all the artists I watch (well, skipping over the ones I’m sure that art didn’t come from)… btw, quite a lot of artists I follow seem to have either disabled access to their accounts or removed everything :/
Long story short, could not find the artist either so I’m guessing they took down everything. Y’know, I don’t know if it would be better for my mental state but I kinda miss when your favorites included the “art not available” box when something you favorited was deleted. At least then you’re not gaslighting yourself that it may never have existed, you can at least imagine something you vaguely remember was one of those boxes.
Also FA should add an icon for people who disable their accounts. They’ve got icons for people who have been banned, passed away, or… I’m not even sure what some of these icon’s mean anymore.
Felt depressing, thought I’d at least mention that here since I kinda want to remember that time marches on and things can change drastically from what we remember.

Writing
Posted 9 years agoUgh, too much writers block. No lack of ideas, just lacking the will to actually getting past the planning stage :(
I do have one Christmas themed TF story though that I'd like to finish in time for the holidays, maybe that'll be enough incentive.
BTW, I've also got an account on Doc's TF Lab under the username MadMorrow, though likely everything posted there will be posted here as well.

Albany Kidz Expo 2014
Posted 11 years agoNext weekend (March 8th) is the Albany Kidz Expo. In the past have had a group of fursuiters volunteer at this great event, lots of kids and parents enjoy our presence. Looking to see if anyone is interested in attending this year. The event is from 10am - 5pm that saturday... drop me a note if interested.
Some short TF clips from cartoons

NaNoWriMo 2012
Posted 13 years agoJust putting this down as a note for myself on an idea I may use for this year's NaNoWriMo... especially considering how poor I've done in completing those stories in the past I may wish to iron out any issues with the idea now ^.^;;;
Always been a fan of werewolves, which can't be too odd considering things, but always hated the mindless savage beast of that creature. But then again, completing keeping your personality when so much of your body has changed isn't really in keeping with that either. I've been thinking what about a split personality which develops with your split form? How would an equally intelligent mind exist in that sort of body, how would it see its 'day form' or the reverse. Family might still be considered family, it may be as though the werewolf personality sees itself more as the brother of the human form... or possibly tries to become the dominant personality; the true struggle with the werewolf form may not be in containing its savage physical presence but behind the scenes struggle within the mind.

RCFM Formal?
Posted 14 years agoOoh, I wish I could have made it to RCFM this year... formal wear at a con? That' would have been a sight to both see and be a part of. Hopefully another con will try that some year :/
PafCon?
Posted 14 years agoAnybody else remember the teasers for a real PafCon? Guess it didn't work out... website is gone, no more teasers, wikifur reports an m.i.a.
Too bad. Oh for what could have beens.

Story Characters
Posted 15 years agoYou ever use a shared universe with seemingly very different things going on but does take place using same characters and such? I've got some ideas for stories and I think it'd be kinda nifty to use some characters as if in their off-time they're off doing some other stuff.
Example - one of the lion judges that made an appearance in my yiff story (in my scraps section) I am thinking about including in a more serious vore story I've been fleshing out. Another is a fictional furry band I've been thinking of having make in an appearance in a number of widely different stories.
Just a random thought, I've always kinda found nifty characters that cross over - whether ones that make appearances in different books by same or different authors, comic book characters that have a diverse history rather than mired in one series and one interpretation, all that jazz basically.
So I was just wondering how many other people do that or have thought about doing that?

Hmmm...
Posted 15 years agoThe hardest part of having ideas in your head is getting them out. A lot of it is excuses that are just bunk, apathy, not knowing how to use your time properly, being tired when you shouldn't be... but the far worst of all is thinking you may not be up to the task of turning that story in your head into something that can be read, seen, and enjoyed by others.
Ideas Ideas Ideas
Posted 15 years agoDamn having ideas but not the drive to turn them into reality. I've got a number of ideas floating around my head, some of which are several years+ old, and yet... everytime I sit down on the computer I instead wander elsewhere.
Mostly transformation themed ideas but I've also got a vore story or two in mind ^.^;;;
Maybe I can get at least some headway to justify posting to my scraps folder - at least until I can really sit down and finish them off. Ah well, I do intend to get something posted prior to the summer ending - please comment when I do even if only to say how much you hated it because it helps to write when you know people are actually reading ;)

Story Submissions
Posted 16 years agoI've noticed that a lot of story submissions include the story pasted in the description box (which means you don't have to use the download feature to open up the doc file).
Do people prefer this? I tend to leave... a short description in the description box, but I'm wondering if many people may just prefer having the story right there on their webpage so they don't have to follow through with that extra step of downloading the file before reading it.
Does anyone have an opinion on this?

Looking for comic
Posted 16 years agoI'm trying to remember who was submitting this comic on FA sometime back, I either can't find them on my view or favorites list or perhaps they removed everything and disappeared.
However, it involved a dinner party that a wolf has talked his jaguar friend into attending with him - so two carnivores attending a dinner party thrown by herbivores. There's a giraffe that invited them (he knows the wolf through this gym they both use), although all his friends are skeptical to downright frightened by having carnivores at their apartment (pretty sure this goat was the most fearful).
I am pretty sure there were references to Aztec art / culture. Also the jaguar seemed to be a world traveler, a bit high on himself, and a tad elitest while the wolf seemed more down to earth and wanting to reach out and get to know the giraffe.
I forget much more, it was a slow progressing strip but it had grown a bit on me. And then of course I was away from FA for a bit and totally lost touch of where it was or what might have happened to it ^.^;;;
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Writing again
Posted 16 years agoWell, I started a story this past weekend. Got at least a few more pages before I can find a decent stopping point and post here, possibly more pages than that considering how long-winded I've been in this rough draft :P
It feels overly long and a tad rambling, I'll remind you all to critique it to death when it's finally posted - maybe then I'll start improving and post something worth getting excited about.
Funny how I've written down numerous ideas and even whole scenes for other short stories, but a scene for this one popped into my head out of nowhere and it got placed at the head of the queue. Sometimes it feels like you've gotta hold on for dear life to an idea, otherwise it'll be lost before you get the nerve to write it out - and knowing it in your head is a far cry from having it down in words.
I've remembered why I had slacked off so much, it takes quite a bit of time and effort to write. I am sooo out of practice ^.^;;;
Props to everyone who does this consistently, don't ever fall out of practice or you may find months or years go fly by before you finish another complete story. The future is now!

NaNoWriMo
Posted 17 years agoAnybody else interested in participating in NaNoWriMo next month? It'll be the first time I attempt it, I have my doubts that I'll reach the mark but I've been having a difficult time writing in a long while... maybe writing some less than serious story will help jumpstart my interest and dedication.
Anyways, I'll post the finished product at the end of November, maybe some updates in my scraps as it takes shape over the course of the month.
FYI:
I've got two ideas for stories, one is higher on my list and will probably be the one I go with - it's a more fantasy oriented subject and more open to deus ex machina :P

Browse
Posted 17 years agoFunny how the different categories are either Fetish... or Furry Specialty.
So what do you gravitate towards? I almost exclusively also look for updates to the Transformation or Vore categories. Everything else... if I see something I like when random submissions appear or its on someone's favorites list, I'll fave it but overall I tend to keep my eyes peeled for stuff in the above two categories.
Long story short, whatever you check out the most - what's your top fave? Close for me but I'm thinking TF is more my interest out of the two.

NY Comic Con
Posted 17 years agoGoing to NY Comic Con this weekend, saturday only. Anybody else going? I attended last year, quite a crazy gathering.
Posting Art by Others
Posted 18 years agoWhat are people's opinion on posting art that is not your own? Obviously with disclaimers and giving credit to the actual artist.
I ask because I'm wondering whether I should post scans of badges I have commissioned in the past. Or art I've bought at convention art auctions. The type of art that you probably wouldn't see otherwise, most of the art I've bought or commissioned is not on FA.

Transformation Stories
Posted 18 years agoAre there any particular themes or ideas you like to see in transformation fiction? What catches your eye or turns you away from reading a story.
I tend to prefer transformation pieces that are against the subject's will, turning them into an animal form (as opposed to an anthro, mythical creature, or etc), retains their ability to think, and if it's an adult themed story I tend to gravitate towards a male into female gender change as well.
Just curious as to everyone else's thoughts on this.

Scraps
Posted 18 years agoI'm disappointed that I haven't been able to complete a story in quite a long time.
Playing around with the scraps feature, submitted a number of stories that I haven't touched in years. They may still be fun to read the short parts that were completed.

Favorites List Breakdown
Posted 19 years agoHow often do you read written submissions, the stories and poetry? How often do you listen to music uploads?
Just curious, I have a feeling that most folks don't even bother with the submissions require a more active participation (I know it's so much easier to glance at a pic file).
